Sebastian for CaFleureBon©
Parfums de Marly is a niche house that has a cult following. We have been writing about them since 2013, and we many perfume lovers fell hard for Herod. There, Olivier Pescheux composed a tobacco and vanilla fragrance that pairs contrasting notes and matches them with cinnamon and osmanthus. Parfums de Marly Oajan (WAJE-AHN) is one of Editor Sebastian Jara’s favorite because it reminds him of his childhood eating Middle Eastern pastries like Baklava.

Here, Givaudan perfumer Shyamala Masiondieu pairs honey with cinnamon, tonka and a crisp note resembling apple that might be from osmanthus. This proves never judge a perfume by the notes alone. Sweet fragrances can be cloying when an unseasoned perfumer uses a heavy hand However this Middle Eastern treat strikes the right balance and is a grown –up gourmand.-Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief
