Our Top 10 Best Summer Fragrances (art Rene Gruau and Stock)

We are a diverse bunch at CaFleurebon; our editors and contributors hail from Italy, New Zealand and Australia as well as every time zone in the USA. Summer is summer no matter where we live and these are the top ten perfumes we chose for this year’s Best Summer Fragrances, from new releases to those we have loved for years.

Having just experienced the driest and warmest May in the Pacific Northwest in recorded history, we all had high hopes for June. Oh well, hope springs eternal and keeping with tradition, the “June Gloom” has settled in and “Junuary” is right on schedule. However nothing can keep me from reaching for summer perfumes regardless, so let’s get this party started!

First up in my best summer fragrances is an absolutely delightful bottle of olfactive magic from St. Clair Scents called “First Cut”, a paen to the time-honored rural tradition of the start of the hay baling season. Baling hay is a tricky business and completely dependent on the weather. As luck would have it, perfumer Diane St. Clair started baling her fields on the East Coast the very same day our neighbor started baling the field in front of our house here on the West Coast. Synchronicity, and a perfect excuse to reach for my bottle of First Cut, Diane St. Clair’s photo realistic scent-interpretation of a pre-baled pasture. First Cut is a dry and heady fragrance full of nature; tall grasses, hay, soil, all sweetened by an extraordinary hay absolute and meadow flowers. It is akin to lying down in a hayfield and letting the aroma wash over you. For those of us who live in rural communities it is the perfect reminder of why we do, for urban dwellers it is a gentle and scented nudge to get outside and breathe. Notes: Bergamot, Yuzu, Rosemary, Basil, Tomato Leaf Absolute, Lavender Absolute, Rose De Mai, Rose Geranium, Immortelle Absolute, Hay Absolute, Tobacco Absolute, Oakmoss, Vanilla Absolute

On warm days, I love nothing better than a refreshing splash of Guerlain’s 2016 release “Dimanche á la Campagne” (Sunday in the country), an herbal and floral infused Eau de Cologne that’s as refreshing as a tall glass of ice cold lemonade on an August afternoon. It reminds me of a spicier, greener version of my beloved Guerlain Cologne du 68, (now sadly discontinued, but still widely available online). The Dimanche bottle is 250 ml. so there’s certainly enough to add to an evening bath before bed, but my favorite use is a hack I came up with, for after a day in the sun. After a long afternoon spent working on my tan, and after after showering off the suntan oil, I shower-moisturize with organic Almond oil into which I’ve added a splash or two of Dimanche á la Campagne and a few drops of standardized organic eucalyptus oil (which adds a beautiful “zing”) et voilá! Soft great smelling skin. The perfect aromatic end to a lazy summer Sunday. Notes: Bergamot, aromatic herbs, orange blossom, white musk

Shay & Blue Watermelons  quenches the most persistent summer thirst with a burst of watermelon and green mandarin. I know that summer has arrived when the local stores start stacking watermelons in the aisles. This summer, in addition to the irresistible slices of red, juicy crispness and the ever so satisfying crunchy, wet inner rinds, I will be enjoying the Shay & Blue fresh and explosive Watermelons fragrance. Shay & Blue creative director Dom De Vetta and perfumer Julie Massé offer the thirst quenching effects watermelon in their signature blue bottle, the color alone suggesting a welcome, refrigerated antidote to the heat. Beyond cool, Shay & Blue Watermelons offers tastes and textures that take me back over 50 years to childhood summers on the east coast of Florida. For at least two hours, Watermelons’ opening notes of icy, sweet watermelon, brisk, tannic green tea, green mandarin and aquatic cucumber evoke fresh summer mornings hanging around on windy beaches, noontime picnics with friends and the consumption of countless watermelons (and, of course, spitting out thousands if not millions of slippery residual seeds!)   Lazy afternoons were spent napping in the shade of beach umbrellas or beneath live oaks, relaxing to the buzz of the cicadas and grooving to the smooth funky sounds of my summertime music favorites, Herbie Hancock’s Watermelon Man on his 1962 LP “Takin’ Off” and Mongo Santamaria’s 1963 subsequent Afro-Cuban take on the same.  The heart of Shay & Blue watermelon serves up a humid evening of lush, slightly metallic honeysuckle cut with the earthy green of vetiver.  This sensuous and languid, aspect Shay & Blue Watermelons lasts for another couple of hours before my memories of those long ago summers slowly vanish in an aquatic mist of melons, violets and green, wet grass. Although it is new to me it is one of the best summer fragrances on the market. Notes: Watermelon, green mandarin, honeysuckle, green tea and vetiver.

Abel Golden Neroli (Frances Shoemaker and Isaac Sinclair): ‘Joie de Vivre’, Lust for Life, this is a most exuberant all natural perfume, held in a sculpted elegance. A summation of the heated expansion of Summer. The complete abandonment that we feel at the Sun’s Zenith.  Golden Hours encapsulated, arms stretched wide to greet the warmth in a mutual embrace.  Lay within a Citrus Orchard surrounded by the heated exudants of heated orange flesh melded with warmed skin. Neroli and Matcha Tea offering a bright luminous introduction that continues to dazzle throughout to a perfection of the harmonic,  PetitgrainYlang Ylang, Jasmine and Sambac. Shafts of Light that elevate Spirit in the wearing.  An exalted sense of the physical scent transcending the flesh. Ethers of Sandalwood vapours intertwine with the viscous richness of Vanilla to finish with the flourish of the Season.

Goldfield & Banks Pacific Rock Moss: During the warmer months of summer I like to wear refreshing fragrances that uplift my mood. Australian niche fragrance house Goldfield & Banks has a fragrance called Pacific Rock Moss, which does this. Evoking the blue colour of the Pacific Ocean, the fragrance has a fresh, watery theme with a subtle hint of sea salt. Aromatic sage has been blended with geranium, giving a bright rosy effect. Pacific Rock Moss has a calming effect and smells lovely on all genders. A wonderful addition to  any best summer fragrances list.

When you crave an elegant, sexy hot weather floral that makes you feel pretty even on the most torpid summer days, Tonatto Profumi Viburnum is cream and strawberries for the skin. Radiant, lactonic night blooming jasmine gets touches of violet, carnation and iris, and a sly, juicy strawberry adds a lighthearted aspect. While jasmine is undoubtedly the star here, Viburnum’s seamless construction – a hallmark of Tonatto fragrances –  gathers the jasmine and other flowers into a lovely garland to wear on a warm night.  Notes: Night blooming jasminevioletiris, lily, strawberry, carnationtuberosevanillaand white musk.

Summer has not yet exploded here in Milan, but I can’t wait to bathe in my hesperidic perfumes at best. Meanwhile I’m still enjoying samples of the Perris Montecarlo citrus trio built around the amazing raw materials from Capua 1880, Reggio Calabria. My favorite one? I surrender to the peppery, almost lip-smacking blast of Bergamotto di Calabria. The opening has astringent pleasure of the Calabrian gold hand sponged the old way which reminds me of the tart bergamot marmelade. Since once bergamot wasn’t eaten, that adds somehow a gourmand modern vibe to that also empowered by the longlasting support of timur pepper, a pepper commonly used in Nepal dishes to enhance a grapefruit freshness to them. This exotic chilling bite keeps my nose craving for it more and more in the heat .Notes:  Petit grain, nerolifresh gingerjasmine absoluteOrange  ,  absolute, pepperIrissandalwoodmuskvetiverpatchouli.

Choosing a favorite perfume or a few always feels like King Solomon offering to cleave the baby in half in order to appease two mothers wishing to claim the same child!!! At risk of offending others, I choose Mandy Aftel’s Aftelier Velvet Tuberose and Dawn Spencer Hurwitz’s Parfums des Beaux Arts Parfum de Grasse for my best summer fragrances.

Aftelier Perfumes Velvet Tuberose (Mandy Aftel): When you wish to unleash your inner Goddess, all you need is a dab of this. A beloved friend gifted me last year with a silver compact of this treasure (it’s a solid perfume) – and that’s no hyperbole. Unctuous, sultry celestial blooms warm upon summer-heated flesh with obliging festivity. They are ensconced in sandalwood and adorned with jammy fir – how much better do you want it? Most solid perfumes possess neither the tenacity nor the potency of Velvet Tuberose. It’s perfect for languishing wantonly on a sweltery day garbed only in the reproductive organs of the flowers…

DSH Perfumes Parfum de Grasse (Dawn Spencer Hurwitz): Perfumed paean to that part of France (well, one of them – perhaps my very first) which claimed my blood in the early 1970s and refused to release me. It’s a summer symphony, so classic and never boring: bergamot, neroli, mimosa! Carnation, rose, jasmine, iris – all wedded to a swoony base composed of beeswax, sandalwood, vetiver and oakmoss. Subtle enough that it may be dabbed, but it is glorious when sprayed with abandon in your hair, upon the overheated nape of the neck, your pillowcase. As with floral couronnes at Midsummer, one may place it beneath the pillow and dream of lovers to come.

Jules et Mad Stilettos on Lex (Dorothee Piot) is the first chapter in the “coupe de foudre” (love at first sight) romance between Madalina Stoica-Blanchard and Julian Blanchard (Jules et Mad) who met in New York City when Madalina worked there some years ago. Like Madalina I worked in the beauty industry and have my own love story…almost. I lived not too far from Lexington Avenue, and yes I met a handsome stranger. I dropped my dry cleaning as I was getting into an elevator and he picked it up and asked me for my phone number just as the doors shut. I never saw him again but each time I wear this sophisticated fruity floral, I remember that brief encounter and forget about how much I hate summer in the city- the stench of decaying garbage, the sweaty commuters on the LIRR. Opening with a tart pear note, and a hint of citrus,  you hear the click click of lily of the valley and rose for a moment before the main entrance… delectable ripe plum dusted with a hint of powder followed by boozy davana which makes me dizzy with delight (not heat). There is a whisper of vintage perfumes of the past but it is truly a contemporary fragrance, complex but never overpowering nor too sweet. Stilettos on Lex is a modern chypre for those of us who have trouble wearing chypres or for those of you who think that all fruity florals are ubiquitous, mindless creations. Wear this and start your own love affair. Always on my best summer fragrances list. Notes: lemon, pear, davana, plum liquor, lily of the valley, violet leaves, rose, heliotrope, iris, carnation, musk, Madagascar vanilla, Indonesian patchouli and cedar

I appreciated reading about these scents as I didn’t really know about any of them. I also liked the variety of interpretations of a summer scent. The fruitiness of Viburnum sounds really intriguing, as is the idea of florals paired with some sexier heavier notes like beeswax and woods (the DSH). My choices would be First Cut, the Mandy Aftel Tuberose, the DSH Parfums de Grasse. Thanks for the draw! I’m in the US.

  • I always love it when you have multiple reviewers. You each have a unique style of prose and scent preference. The notes list for Stilettos on Lex sounds perfect to me. And, Ida’s review-“Subtle enough that it may be dabbed, but it is glorious when sprayed with abandon” of Parfums de Grasse sounds exciting. I live in the US and would love to win either:
Jules et Mad Stilettos on Lex or
    Parfums de Grasse.

  • I am new to this site and am loving everything about it. I am in USA and I like the Shay and Blue Watermelons. Which is most likely a delicious offering and for summer nothing is as refreshing as watermelon juice. Also the Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Parfums de Grasse which is 98% botanical. So here you have a great scent with it be natural. Please anyone tell me how to figure out if I won anything. I am not computer savvy. Many blessings!

  • newyork318 says:

Great list, I’m only familiar with a few, but really appreciate the variety here. I recently got a sample of Watermelons, which is great. I’m anxious to try: Bergamotto di Calabria, First Cut, Golden Neroli, and Parfums de Grasse. US.

  • A lot of summer gems in this review, i dont know all of them of course but the ones i’ve tested are really great options for summer. I still need to check that super hyped pacific rock moss 🙂 Thanks for this chance, i would love to win perris monte carlo – bergamotto di calabria, shay and blue watermelons, grazzie tonnato – viburnum. I live in the EU.

  • I love the variety of Summer memories and feelings represented here, from golden hay fields to humid cities! I’m in the USA.

I would be ecstatic to win any of these (and will be hunting down some samples ASAP!):

Jules et Mad “Stilettos on Lex”
    St. Claire Scents “First Cut”
    Abel “Golden Neroli”
Perris Monte Carlo “Bergamotto de Calabria”

  • Just Add Light says:

A lot of fruits and florals here…lol. And watermelons in a fragrance? That could be VERY interesting…Unfortunately, I haven’t tried anything from the list apart from Pacific Rock Moss, but I recall having a persistent interest in Bergamotto di Calabria from the Esxence articels. I’m a big neroli fan, so I think you know where this is going… LOL!

Moreover, I really like that you’ve emphasized the natural side of perfumery. In fact, I’ve been hoping to dive a little bit more into all-natural brands, and almost as if by coincidence, you actually have one of them here! I’ve heard a great deal about Abel – especially White Vetiver – so Golden Neroli is definitely one of my choices. Add to that Bergamotto di Calabria for the neroli-petitgrain combo, and Watermelons for Gail’s exotic description of summer mornings, icy watermelons and green grass. I only wish we could have extended spring a little longer up here in Canada, but c’est la vie I suppose… Summer here we come!

  • fazalcheema says:

Summer is not exactly one of my favorite seasons but I do love many summer fragrances. the fragrances mentioned in this article usually evoke the things we love to eat in summer such as watermelons and the activities we love to do in summer such as beach life. My choices will be:

Perris Monte Carlo Bergamotto di Calabria
    Tonnato Profumi Viburnum
    Shay and Blue Watermelons

I would love to have:Bergamotto di Calabria as I really love bergamot and there are way too little good ones out there. I have it on my list since Iread the amazing introduction here on your site. Further I would love Parfums de Grasse by DSH as it sounds amazing and whatever I tried from this brand was perfection. And finally I would go for the Abel Golden Neroli because Neroli! And then eve a warm interpretation just sounds captivating!
Thank you for the post and the opportunaty!

  • James2473 says:

Great list! So many of those fragrances sound appealing! I really enjoy d reading about all of them. Bergamotto di Calabria especially, because I LOVE fragrances that feature bergamot. First Cut sounds intriguing because of it having a hay scent. I’m from a very rural area and I feel like I can imagine the scent just from the description. I’m located in the U.S.A.

  • I had kind of fallen out of fragrances for a while as I got kind of board with some of the redundant scents that kept being made. Reading this article though I actually got excited because some of these scent sound unique and I had not heard of them. ESP. The Bergamotto di Calabria and Watermelons. Both sound great. Interesting the different takes from staff on summer. Thanks for pointing out some new ones for me. In the USA. Would choose Perris Monte Carlo, Shay & Blue, Abel Golden Neroli, and Tonnato Profumi. Thanks again.

  • I loved hearing all of the different voices of the reviewers describing their favorite summer fragrances! As a relatively new perfume lover and a long-time literature nerd, it’s delightful to find that fragrance writing is often so beautifully poetic. • Summer fragrances have a difficult standing among us parfumistos, because many of us find the bold winter stuff more appealing. But at the same time you need something fresh! So your list from the real world is highly appreciated! I’d love to win to Germany: DSH Parfum de Grasse, PMC Bergamotto di Calabria, Shay and Blue Watermelons. Thanks for the generous draw!

  • aurora_ru says:

Thank you for a juicy mouthwatering list of great summer scents, while reading the article I was attracted mostly to the hesperide scents and also to those juicy Watermelons (in combo with green mandarin it should be refreshing!) I have recently ordered samples from Abel and so far Golden Neroli is my favorite from the line, so I am glad to see it here, on this list.

    I would love to win:
    Perris Montecarlo Bergamotto di Calabria,
    Shay and Blue Watermelons,
    Abel Golden Neroli

What a fantastic list of summer fragrances that are new to me. I loved this review. I have been particularly interested in the Abel line so I would love to win Golden Neroli. Thank you for this draw. I am in the USA.

  • Monica Beaton says:

Explosions of summer berries and citrus, bitter bergamont to refresh, and enormous bouquets of fresh summer flowers, all held together with woods and spice to anchor them and keep them from floating away on warm summer days. What beautiful and poetic reviews – bring on summer! I would love to try Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Parfum de Grasse with thanks to Ida for making me yearn to try it, and to Dawn Spencer Hurwitz for offering such a generous giveaway.

  • Thanks for doing this! I am in the US. I am a gardener, and spring and summer are my glory days, when I hope that all the planting of the prior fall and early spring will come to fruition and my garden will be filled with fragrance and bloom. Here in the hot Southeast, the unusually high amount of rain has been a boon to summer, not a hindrance. All of these scents capture different aspects of summertime! I would love to win:

I enjoyed reading everyone’s picks and I felt excitement for the summer. I always gravitate to citrus fragrances (Agua de Colonia by Alvarez Gomez and Eau de Rochas Homme).

    I would choose:
    St. Clair First Cut
    Bergamotto di Calabria
    Parfum de Grasse
    Velvet Tuberose
    Stilettos on Lex
    Viburnam

    I live in the USA.

Great reviews! It was lovely to read the different viewpoints of “summer” fragrance but the ones that would be my choices are:
Velvet Tuberose (her solid fragrances sound amazing)
    Bergamotto di Calabria
    Silettos on Lex
    Parfums de Grasse

Thank you for the draw, I’m in the US.

  • ElenaChiss says:

Thank you for the article and the draw! Really nice reviews and also lovely pictures.

I am most curious about Stilettos on Lex, but also Viburnum and Velvet Tuberose sound really nice. So these 3 would be my choices if I were to win.

    I am from Europe.

  • Belladonna says:

This article is Dense with information about unique scents I am unfamiliar with! I wrote them ALL down to find – and would love to win ANY of them (except Stilettos on Lex b/c I already own a full bottle – agreeing with Ms Camen that it is magic) My first choice would be Grazie Tonnato Profumi by Viburnum because the notes sound divine – but all sound gorgeous and I would be lucky to win! Thank you for the generous opportunity – in USA.

  • Citrus is perfect any day of the year for my nose. Tuberose is one of my most favorite notes. I enjoyed Ermano’s and Ida’s mentions of both for summer fragrance wear. Bergamot is an easy choice, while white florals have a forceful beauty in the heat.

I am in the US and would most like to try
Velvet Tuberose (did I mention I love tuberose?),
Parfum de Grasse (a trip to the flower fields? yes, please!),
Golden Neroli (Abel is new to me and I would love to learn more),
Bergamotto de Calabria (hand sponged bergamot! the holy grail of citrus), and
First Cut (for summer memories of climbing stacks of hay bails on my uncle’s dairy farm).

Thank you for the summer fragrance suggestions and for the superbly generous draw.

  • I’m new to this site and I really like it. Always looking for new online resources for fragrance reviews and news. I have a couple samples of Aftelier products so I’d love to get my hands on that Velvet Tuberose. The earthy notes of First Cut seem right up my alley so I’d like to get that too. Lastly, I’d like Bergamotto Di Calabria, since I’m always looking for a signature citrus scent and this sounds amazing. I’m in the US (Chicago, baby!)

  • DespinaVnt says:

Reading all these varied, highly personal fragrant memories was like taking a virtual trip around the world.
The article was also enlightening for me, since I discovered some extremely intriguing fragrances I knew nothing about, like Jules et Mad Stilettos on Lex (it might just be the right fruity floral for me, especially considering I adore chypres), Dom De Vetta Shay and Blue Watermelons (a playful and delightful-sounding olfactory “fruit salad!), Goldfield & Banks Pacific Rock Moss (an awesome-sounding scent for vacation by the sea, from a perfume house I’ve never heard of), as well as the Aftelier Perfumes Velvet Tuberose (what a great and practical idea to carry along one’s vacation a beautiful solid perfume).
I also enjoyed the rest of the choices, which I had already tried or heard about: Dawn Spencer Hurwitz’s Parfum de Grasse (having tried another scent of the same creator, it must definitely be a high quality natural fragrance), Abel Golden Neroli (warm, luminous scent that contains several of my favorite perfume ingredients), Perris Monte Carlo Bergamotto di Calabria (being Greek, this bright, uplifting fragrance sounds a lot like summer in my home country), and Viburnum Grazie Tonnato Profumi (this sounds simply mouth watering!).
I’d be ecstatic to have one of the following (in order of preference):

    – 100 ml of Bergamotto di Calabria
    – 50 ml Abel Golden Neroli
    – 100 ml of Viburnum
    – 20 ml of Jules et Mad Stilettos on Lex
    – Aftelier Perfumes Velvet Tuberose
    – 10 ml of Parfums de Grasse
    – 30 ml of Shay and Blue Watermelons

I live in EU, thank you!

  • Summer comes early (I live in Florida) and stays long here so it’s kind of a matter of scale.
Abel Golden Neroli sounds lovely and somewhat less extremely sultry than what we have now.
Velvet Tuberose because tuberose is such a summer flower for me and I would love one of Mandy’s solids!
Then there is DSH Parfum de Grasse which I would love just for the combination of base notes!

  • Hi there!
Thanks for this list and giveaway! I live in Asheville, NC and would love to try Aftelier’s Velvet Tuberose solid perfume. The combination of sandalwood and fir mixed with the floral tuberose seems like it would be the perfect scent for summer afternoons spent in the mountains.

  • This spring and summer have been full of transition, but also full of learning. I learned what viburnum (probably Korean Spice) smells like! And my first real jasmine (Belle of India). So I’d love to try another good new thing!

Thank you for the writing and the giving

My top choice is First Cut, because wow. PG Bois Blonde, which is a favorite, also has hay and I find it intriguing and addictive, but less outdoorsy somehow.
    And next:
Bergamotto di Calabria because I remember the reviews and adore bergamot.
Viburnum because it might be my new favorite flower!
Abel Golden Neroli sounds like summer in a bottle

Parfum de Grasse sounds classical and interesting
Shay and Blue Watermelon so refreshing!
Aftelier Perfumes Velvet Tuberose sounds more powerful and voluptuous than me…but maybe in a way that would expand my sense of self as well as engage my senses?

  • Loved the photo of the dog. It’s a hard choice but golden neroli and watermelon both sound great. Canada

  • jeremyn87 says:

These sound like really refreshing scents and different from typical summer offerings. Sounds like great suggestions.

    I’m in the US.

    My choiced in order:

Bergamotto di Calabria- Pepper and citrus are great together. Oscar for Men is among my favorite scents because of it.

Viburnum- it doesnt sound like something Id wear out, but more like something id wear at home.

First Cut- I really love yuzu, and I think it’d smell great with the dry, grassy and woody smell.

Golden Neroli- Grew up with neroli/orange blossom water. Been also looking for a citrus with tea fragrance lately.

Shay and Blue Watermelons- I’ve smelled a lot of melon fragrances due to their calone, but I havent tried one which actually smells like watermelon.

Stilettos on Lex- I’m not sure if I’ve really tried a lot of pear fragrances. Plum and booziness arent what I usually associate with summer scents, so curious to see how these play out.

Parfum de Grasse- beeswax can have a honey-like smell, which can be sort of musky. Sounds good with rose.

Velvet Tuberose- I’m not sure if Ive ever smelled natural tuberose before.

  • Aromas have always evoked strong memories for me. Reading the description of each fragrance makes me want to close my eyes and experience each and every one. Each blend sounds beautiful and intriguing and so difficult to choose. The St. Clair Scents First Cut evokes an early morning walk in a meadow full of wild flowers, Mandy Aftel’s exotic Velvet Tuburose has me imagining a warm evening in an exotic location with the heady scent of roses combined with sandalwood wafting through the air. And lastly, Parfum de Grasse transports me to the home of perfume and the French countryside and chateaux. All of the fragrances sound gorgeous and I would be happy to experience any one of them. Thank you.

  • Jake smith says:

All of these fragrances sounds fantastic I would love to try Pacific rock moss its getting alot of attention and I would like to get my own opinion on it. I am in Arizona so it’s really hot here so anything very citric pr aquatic is good. I would love to try Perris Monte Carlos Bergamotto di Calabria as bergamot is one of my favorite notes it is just amazing in the desert heat. As always keep up the good work! I am in the USA.

  • I love seeing the diversity of each of you. Your choices make me so curious abouth the ones I haven’t experienced. However, I’m a hopless romantic (not many know this so keep it to yourselves) therefore I am going for the Jules et Mad Stilettos on Lex. Not that I’m looking but it’s important to keep the intrigue peaking. Great choices team..

  • So amazed to see that coconut/sunscreen wasn’t mentioned once! I haven’t smelled ANY of these—hats off to the editors for your choices—and would love to smell all of them. All of these descriptions have me dreaming of flower fields and landscapes dotted with lemon trees!

    Would love to win:
    – Bergamatto di Calabra

I love this collection of photos! It captures so many different aspects of summer. Your choices do as well! The first one named, First Cut, is at the top of my list. Hay is a fragrance ingrained in my memory since a child. Others I would love to win are Aftelier Perfumes Velvet Tuberose (all natural), DSH Parfum de Grasse, Abel Golden Neroli (all natural), Tonnato Profumi Viburnum. I love your descriptions of the perfumes and LOVE that you included all natural options!! I only use all natural everything, and have been lusting after Mandy Aftel’s creations for some time but have yet to try anything! (And tuberose is one of my favorite scents!) I’m so glad to know of others now as well. I adore scents layered with fruity, floral, and woodsy in just the right amounts. I would love to win Mandy Aftel’s Aftelier Velvet Tuberose, Dawn Spencer Hurwitz’s Parfum de Grasse, and Abel Golden Neroli – they each sound divine! Thank you so much for an incredible giveaway! I live in the US 🙂

  • Aquafortis says:

I’ve been seeking a new summer fragrance favorite, and this review is wonderful to learn about many houses I’m unfamiliar with. I was previously very intrigued by Perris Monte Carlo’s Bergamotto di Calabria, after reading your great Esxence standouts reviews. I’m already a big fan of Perris’ fragrances and would love to try this one from their new white collection. I’m located in the USA. Thank you.

  • I agree with above posters, my favorites are when all the Cafleurebon contributors chime in with their individual preferences. It’s nice to see the spectrum of choices. I would pick the following if I won:

Tonotto Vibirnum because Lauryn’s descriptions always make me want more

The reason is that this fragrance has many of my favorite notes for summer fragrances and also that the mix of notes should make for something unique in my collectio. However, if my name is drawn, I would happily accept any of the other fragrances so generously offered. Canada.

I do have a sweet tooth and wheat bread+homemade butter+bergamot marmelade + strong double shot espresso is my all time favorite breakfast.
So naturally Bergamotto di Calabria by Perris Monte Carlo is my first choice.
I’m really curious about First Cut by St. Clair Scents too, because of the impression of hay baling season
Virginia USA most of the time and London UK from time to time.

  • I’m in the US and immediately start reaching for citrusy fragrances as soon as the weather turns warm, so I’m thrilled to see so many to choose from on your list. I’d be thrilled to win Shay and Blue Watermelons, Abel Golden Neroli, Perris Monte Carlo Bergamotto di Calabria,or Tomato Profumi Viburnum. Thanks for the drawing!
