Perfumed Plume Awards for Fragrance Journalism Finalists 2018

For the first time since the Perfumed Plume Awards inception in 2016, finalists were announced in advance of the Awards Ceremony. This year a packed crowd of media, fragrance writers/journalists, fragrance entrepreneurs and influencers gathered at Perfumariē and the finalists for the 2018 Perfumed Plume Awards  were revealed by Co-Founders Mary Ellen Lapsansky and Lyn Leigh. Guests sipped on special “Mango Blossom” cocktails and delicious tastings by hot new YaVe Tequila.

“Voting for the Perfumed Plume Awards for Fragrance Journalism Finalists was carried out by an independent panel of judges –  whose ballots were tabulated by the outside accounting firm, Sperduto Spector & Company. The 2018 finalists were determined by the highest percentage scores received based on the criteria for each category. While the overall criteria of fragrance articles must focus on generic information about scent in an original, creative, unique style that engages and educates the consumer on the art and craft of fragrance, each category has its own standard. Scent Stories in Mainstream Media – both in the print and digital categories – are judged primarily on the quality of editorial content; originality & creativity; accuracy & depth of information. Science of Scent Stories in Mainstream Media – both print and digital – is all about the psychological benefits of fragrance usage; original, creative and unique style; and written in a ‘consumer friendly’ mode.In the Visualization of Scent Stories category the overall design presentation, design concept and how design relates to content is the benchmark.”

Congratulations Michelyn and Ida. Some interesting articles were nominated. Among those in the nominations, I just took a look at Ann Haviland’s article. I had never heard her name before and it is clear why not. She started her career well before the mass marketing trend started by Lauder, Rubenstein, Arden etc.

  • Michelyn Camen says:

Hi Fazal: Thank you so much for your best wishes. Mark Behnke and I wrote the Roudnitska piece. Mark Behkne, now with Colognoisseur wrote our first perfume review March 22, 2010 on Noir Epices by Michel Roudnitska. Ida Meister richly deserves this in Science of Scent. This is just magical for all of us. Quietly Waiting and Yukon 1. We appreciate your comments so much!
