Nest Fragrances Wisteria Blue (Rodrigo Flores-Roux) 2018 + Perfume Review + Paean to Spring Draw

I really love Nest Fragrances for many reasons, foremost is that they offer fine fragrances composed by world-famous perfumers at affordable prices. That’s a win-win in my book. Their latest,  Nest Fragrances Wisteria Blue was inspired by the multi-colored wisteria vines throughout Savannah Georgia is no exception. Nest;s eau de parfums  are signed by such luminaries as  Christophe Laudamiel, Jerome Epinette, and now Rodrigo Flores-Roux.

Founder Laura Slatkin was inspired to create Nest Fragrances Wisteria Blue while walking through the Historic District in Charleston, S.C.: “I came across a home that was covered in wisteria blossoms in the most extraordinary shades of lavender, blue and white; it was right then and there that I knew I had to create a wisteria fragrance.” Upon returning to New York, Ms. Slatkin knew immediately she wanted to collaborate with Rodrigo Flores-Roux to develop the fragrance.

Rodrigo Flores-Roux

Rodrigo Flores-Roux of Givaudan is well known for his breathtaking florals and expert knowledge of all things vintage; his body of work includes John Varvatos, Arquiste, Aedes De Venustus Oeillet Bengale, Tom Ford Neroli Portofino,  and Clinique Happy to name just a few.

Nest Fragrances Wisteria Blue arrives in the brand’s signature black box adorned with beautiful botanical illustrations by noted Russian artist Alexander Solodukho. The fragrance is a light, fresh paean to spring, and the long and languid pre-summer days of the south.

Using a wisteria essence extracted from the blooms grown at Marie Antoinette’s’ Petit Trianon cottage in Versailles, Nest Wisteria Blue is the perfect fragrance for a lazy Sunday meal “en famille”. I can imagine a brick patio shaded by a stately mature wisteria vine, the trunk wrapped and twisting around trellis and gate, the lavender colored petals floating on the breeze to land on the table and ground almost as if angels were showering kisses down upon you.

Wisteria Blue is an abstract scent, a suggestion or dream of a perfect flowering vine at the height of its bloom. The jasmine is equally dominant but never overshadows the French wisteria essence, merely they are walking arm in arm through a glorious sun-filled garden asking that you take your time and take your ease, the  better to enjoy the sights and scents of nature’s spring floral bounty. The Bulgarian rose note adds an old-fashioned sweetness, and the aquatic accord keeps things fresh and fluid, a meandering stream nearby, or in the case of Savannah Georgia, a slight oceanic tang of the nearby harbor where the Savannah River flows past Tybee Island before reaching the Atlantic Ocean. Nest Fragrances Wisteria Blue brings to mind Edwardian ladies and gentlemen at an afternoon garden fête; a genteel and glorious floral tribute to perfumes of the past.

Notes: Wisteria essence, jasmine, rose, aquatic accord

Disclosure: Thank you so much to Nest Perfumes for supplying Wisteria Blue. The  opinions are my own.

  • I absolutely love these Candles!! I love the three which I’ve tried. Holiday, Bamboo and White Camellia. My favorite of the three is Bamboo! I’m totally addicted to the fresh clean smell. I am excited to try them all and the new fragrance Wisteria Blue! I love lilacs.

  • Yes, I also enjoy watching the flower petals dancing in the breeze. I’m looking forward to trying Nest’s new fragrance by Rodrigo Flores-Roux. My favorite purchase was “Indigo”, and I love layering “White Sandalwood” with “Citrine”. The most intense wisteria scent comes from the white wisteria ‘Alba’. I’ve had the pleasure of sniffing both.Luck to all, I’m in the USA.

The wisteria essence appeals to me. my favorite Nest is Midnight Fleure… the scent reminds me of my daughter who has the original bottle when it first debuted. I reside in the United States.

  • “as if angels were showering kisses down upon you.” Wisteria is so beautiful although I have never smelled it. I did have a chance to smell Nest’s Black Tulip and enjoyed it. I live in the US.

  • NiceVULady says:

I live very near Charleston, SC and I have wisteria growing in my garden. It is just now in the bud stage. It is an entrancing fragrance as is Robert’s review. Thanks for the draw. My fingers are croseed. I’m in the USA

  • Robert’s review is interesting as always and creates a strong curiosity in whatever fragrance he writes about. This time he also writes about one of my favorite perfumers, Rodrigo Flores-Roux. I love his perfumes and several of my favorite perfumes are by him. I have no doubt that Wisteria Blue is lovely. I have smelled wisteria from a distance. I know of Nest Fragrance but have not tried any. In the US.

Robert’s review and mentions of a perfect family meal recall my own childhood. A huge wisteria vine grew beside our back door, right where my father would grill if we ate outside. Huge fat bumblebees would visit the wisteria, leaving us and the food alone (but woe betide the family dog that wanted to bat at the bees!). The scent of the wisteria and our lilac bushes could cover the odor of even the most flavorfully grilling meats. So yes, I’ve smelt wisteria before, and Robert’s brought that scent memory back in his review.

Black Tulip is a quite remarkable Nest scent. I live in the US.

  • GrandmaGaga says:

Having never smelled Wisteria, it intrigues me as a vintage flower. I like that it is a combination of Wisteria, Rose and Jasmine. My favorite Nest fragrance is Dahlia and Vines. I am in the US. Thank you for the chance to try this new Nest perfume!

  • Great review by Robert. Got me interested in this wisteria flower.

  • The photography is breathtaking! I love the scent of wisteria. It’s so soft and breezy. Very feminine and soft. I haven’t smelled any Nest fragrances. This combo of wisteria along with jasmine and rose sounds so dreamy.
    I live in Pennsylvania.

  • I live in Savannah, GA, and so the scent of wisteria just permeates the air with the promise of spring. It is as intoxicating as Robert’s review describes. I’m a fan of almost all Nest Frarances including Black Tulip, Dahlia & Indigo.

I am a big fan of NEST fragrances and my all time favorite and signature scent is Indigo.

Wisteria Blue appeals to me because I love all of the notes listed and look forward to trying it soon!

NEST is my favorite because they not only make beautiful timeless fragrances, their packaging is really top notch. The bottles are truly a piece of art on my vanity.

Wisteria does not grow at the latitude which I call home, so I have not experienced either the plant or its aroma in nature. In images, it generally appears as lilac, so it is interesting to find out it comes in a spectrum of lovely blue and lavender shades as well. I once sampled Dame’s wisteria soliflore, and it was spicy sweet to me. Nest fragrances are interesting and their packaging is pretty. I own and love Paradise. Thank you for this chance, I live in the US.

  • Thank you for this nice review!! I amn’t familiar with Nest fragrances and it was interesting for me to know about this new perfume, especially inspired by unusual ingredient- wisteria.

This sounds lovely. I love Wisteria, though as I sit here on this cold and extremely windy day I have trouble recalling the particular scent. I would love to try this. USA

  • Carol Webb says:

It has been a long time since I’ve smelled wisteria!
As soon as I found out Nest was going to come out with this, I wanted it! Love Nest – my favorite is Black Tulip which I use at least once a week. I have 4 others which I use off and on. I had one which did not agree with my body chemistry but my coworker loved it! Black Tulip has come out as my favorite of all the Nest fragrances.
Robert is spot on when he says that these are fine fragrances at affordable prices. I don’t even think twice when I buy another bottle. And I do so love the bottles, they truly are beautiful. I almost kept White Sandalwood for the bottle alone.
I’m in the US, thank you for this fantastic draw. I would love to win!

  • I love the visual of the family sitting down for a meal under the wisteria as late spring turns to summer. I have never been lucky enough to smell wisteria but I have been lucky enough to sniff Blue Wisteria and it’s gorgeous. Thanks Cafleurebon for another great draw!

  • Belladonna says:

I have had the opportunity to walk under the Southern Wisteria vines in full bloom, they are a sensory feast of smell, sight and touch! If the wind is up, even the sound of their rustling is entrancing. Robert’s review has added even another layer with the idea of the ocean breeze. I’ve not had the chance to explore the Nest fragrances and was amazed at the number of celebrated artists involved in this creation! Would love to experience Wisteria Blue. Thank you so much for the generous drawing! USA

I want this fragrance especially since it comes from a wisteria growing at the Petit Trianon. I have wisteria surrounding my front porch and it’s winding up the nearby mulberry tree. I don’t have a favorite Nest fragrance, yet. Thank you for this draw. I’m in the US.

  • roxhas1cat says:

The pictures are my favorite from this post. I had a 30+ year old wisteria framing my front door in Portland. The 2 weeks of bloom were amazing. Miss that plant! I don’t have a favorite…. yet from this line. Thanks for the chance. US.

  • I enjoyed Robert’s review of Wisteria Blue and his imagery of “long and languid pre-summer days of the south.” My favorite Nest Fragrance is Midnight Fleur and, though I relished my visits to Savannah, I have never smelled actual wisteria.
