It's no secret that Pierre Guillaume, the founder and perfumer for Parfumerie Generale, Huitieme Arts and Phaedon Paris is one of my favorite perfumers. Even when one of his fragrances doesn't work for me, they are all incredibly interesting and unique, pushing boundaries in contemporary niche perfumery.  Dubbed the Contemplation Collection, prototypes of two new fragrances, Ironic Bliss and Indian Rhapsody,  M. Guillaume will be presenting a capsule collection created solely to celebrate Pitti Fragranze 2013, the artistic perfumery event and  will debut next week in Florence.

According to Extrait.it, M. Guillaume sat at his perfumer's organ with the sole objective of expressing his creativity and giving free rein to the imagination.  The first, Ironic Bliss, was developed around Irone (one of the main constituents of the absolute of iris) and is a reflection on the idea of bucolic luxury.

Ironic Bliss: iris, pumpkin, heather absolute, salicylates , honey resin , white musk, vanilla.

Indian Rhapsody is a spicy floral composition.  M. Guillaume describes it as a fragrance “colorful and shining like the madras that wraps around the body of Indian women”.

Indian Rhapsody: cardamom, allspice, nutmeg, rose, pink lotus absolute, cedar, resin saffron, white chocolate and incense.

Ironic Bliss and Indian Rhapsody may or may not be introduced into the PG line at a future date, perhaps under the Parfumerie General Private Collection? We hope so. Don’t you?
