Overall, each exhibitor was selected  because they offer a meaningful product that will add value to consumers’ lives. There was a prelaunch party June 11 in NYC, which I attended and I am happy to give you a peak into what will be featured and all the excitement of the upcoming weekend. Discover Scent will include 13 luxe and artisanal perfume collections, their distributors, Drom Fragrances and scent innovation companies as exhibitors and was curated by Karen Dubin and Karen Dubin. Here is a sneak sniff of what will be at the exhibition.

The attractively decorated bottles along with the scents transport one to fabulous locales around the globe at a fraction of the cost. Oud Al-Sahara (an oud fragrance with mandarin and myrrh) is one I liked as it is elegant and an easy wear. All are 100ml. Their motto: "Not every wine is a Grand cru. The same is true of perfume."

Scents of Place by  5th Screen Digital LIVE from CosmoProf NA Darryl Do with Remy Bhatia

Scents of Place by 5th Screen Digital, Inc. is a most intriguing stop.  Chief Visionary Officer (CVO), Keith Kelsen called on the perfume expertise of Darryl Do on this unique sampling project. Mr. Kelsen, who is the inventor and patent holder was available at the pre-event to articulate the company's mission.  I was able to demo what is the world's first comprehensive digital fragrance dispersion platform and was convinced it is the future of reinventing retail sales environments. The device will allow consumers to sample numerous fragrances with a simple touch on a digital screen without the complexity of traditional sprays or oils.  Dispersion is in the form of a dry air fragrance that is clean and accurate. The future has arrived!

If you are at Cosmoprof, stop by the Sniffapalooza/ Back Label Wine Merchant table helmed by Patrick Watson and Team Karen! Having showcased wine and fragrance collaborations for years; they are experts. Five pairings were created with the five New York City based scent houses.  One of my personal favorite pairings was Allegedly Rose of Concentration de Parfums and Catskill Provision's Honey Whiskey.

Eric Horn and Daniella Ciocan of Cosmoprof North America

Eric Horn, Associate Director and Daniela Ciocan Marketing Manger for Cosmoprof

Before Cosmoprof this weekend, I was fortunate to interview Daniela Ciocan, Marketing Manager for Cosmoprof North America to gain additional background into this world renowned Trade Show and exhibition.

When was the first Cosmoprof?

Daniela Ciocan: The mothership, Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna is in its 48th Edition, with Asia Hong Kong its 20th, and North America its 13th. As one can see, it is a large international fair with a significant footprint!

Has fragrance ever been part of Cosmoprof in the past?

DC: Yes, Perfumery had been part of Cosmoprof as part of Masterpiece, which was last shown in 2009.

Was there an inspiration for the exhibit?

DC:  I had seen what Elements Showcase  accomplished in recent years and was looking at the model as a way to connect with retailers. The idea is to grow this going forward.

How was the connection with Sniffapalooza established?

DC:  I met Karen Dubin after Karen won the Great Idea Award for Fragrance Innovation from Cosmetic Executive Women and International Flavors & Fragrances in 2013.

How will fragrance brands benefit?

DC: I see the growth coming from the luxury salon and spas where a number are including a retail component. High end niche is the target.

  • Digital fragrance? What?! That’s pretty amazing. Oh, and scented nail polish. Thanks for the draw.

  • madeleine gallay says:

I’d love to be there. It’s about passion and elegance and some magic.

Oud Al-Sahara, the oud fragrance with mandarin and myrrh, sounds exotic, magical and refined.

    Wishing. Hoping. In the US.

  • I can’t imagine at all what this would be like, and there are some on these pages who attend events like this all the time. That thought is intriguing enough. Everything there would be new to me, so I’d visit it all. Every section, every scent. 🙂 US

  • fazalcheema says:

it would have been great if Cosmoprof was open to the general public at least one of the days or during certain hours..i am most intrigued by Beauty Pitch section and the presence of Mark Cuban. it seems we are going to see more innovations in fragrance industry in the near future.

thanks so much for the wonderful draw. I am in the US

  • If I had the chance to go to Cosmoprof NA, I’d head straight to the Discover Scent section, and I know I’d spend quite some time lingering at the Orlov Paris and the Berdoues displays.

This almost makes me want to become a beauty professional — I’d love to spend a day at a trade show like this. I always associated Cosmoprof with the hair salon industry, but it’s clear that these days, there is so much more involved!

    Thanks for the opportunity!
I am in the US — near the Cosmoprof in Skokie!

  • Well, I would love to smell those Ciello candles.
One can never have enough fig candles!!
    I am in the US.
    Thanks for the drawing.

  • pursejunkie says:

I could kill a large amount of time in the digital fragrance dispersion platform section.
    (US)

  • Cosmoprof started in Barcelona and not Paris, the European center of beauty and scent? How interesting! If I could attend, I would, of course, head to the Discover Scent section. The Orlov line sounds wonderful and I’m looking forward to the US launch this fall. Oh, and I’m from the US. Thanks for the draw.

  • Donna Spiegel says:

I am intrigued by the facets of the industry together and to gave the opportunity to see what each is offering, developing, looking to develop and where we are headed. Wish I was part of the industry so that I could actually attend!! Like the idea of a dry sniff fragrance. So cool. The Scenterprises line looks fun as it would be neat to mix up some and create a unique blend. The Berdoues line is beautiful too. Both bottles and I like the general idea of the line. Would totally love to win a swag bag!!!! Thanks for the opportunity. Im registered and in the U.S. 🙂

  • Beautiful review! And very nice draw too, thanks for it. I would very love to be there. I would very like to try all of those wonderful fragrances.
    I live in Europe.

  • What intrigues me about Cosmoprof is the fact that exhibitors are selected on the basis that they offer a meaningful product that will add value to consumers’ lives. This is quite different from other trade/ merchandising shows I believe and makes me feel there must be a very high standard. The Discover Scent section would be where I was headed. I also like the description of Nomads Two Worlds Raw Spirit. Thank you for the very detailed review. I am a registered US reader.

  • I like the fact that scent is being integrated into the whole–the more outlets for perfume, the better. Of course I would head for the Discover Scent area, and would be most excited to try the Raw Spirit line, and also Orlov Paris (Dominique Ropion!) I’m in the U.S.

  • This sounds like a fun event. I was captured by several things: first, the wine/perume pairings. I would love to see that one! I was also interested to see Nomads Two Worlds line there. This has special meaning for me. Last Christmas my son wanted to give me a fragrance gift. So without telling me, he went online and researched. He became intrigued with Nomads line because of their business model: giving back to the people who originally lived in the land. It meant a lot to me that he took so much time to find me a gift, and the perfumes were beautiful. I am in the USA>

  • The digital scent device sounds fascinating; I need to learn more! So many innovations and intersections. I would have loved to have attended. My focus would have been artisan brands. Thank you for the great reportage and draw. How can I be looped into future events?!!

  • JazzBelle says:

I would love to attend Cosmoprof! Is there any way one could attend not being a professional in the fragrance industry? Does anyone at CaFleureBon want to take me next year? 😉

I know I would love the perfume and wine pairings! Allegedly Rose of Concentration de Parfums and Catskill Provision’s Honey Whiskey sounds like a fascinating and winning pairing!

I would also be extremely interested in the digital fragrance dispersion platform. I agree that this is likely the future of perfumery and fragrance in the retail environment. How does it work? Does it only require just a simple touch on a digital screen?

The review makes me extremely intrigued by Allegedly Rose of Concentration de Parfums. That’s the one I would most want to experience.

I’m in the USA. Thank you for the draw!

  • Cosmoprof sounds like a fun weekend. If I could visit, I would stop by the Discover Scent section

  • Scents of Place by 5th Screen Digital, Inc. piqued my interest the most. I don’t know how it works but given the number of times I’ve wished I could smell through my computer screen, I would love to find out!

Thank you for the whole piece, it’s nice to get a walk-through of these events. So much to see and do and smell, so many people! The food/wine and perfume pairings are something I especially wish I could try in person. Nomads Two Worlds Raw Spirit has interested me since reading about it on CFB–probably would have headed there first to try the whole line!

The entire concept of Sniffapalooza intrigues me. I think the Back Label Wine Merchant display would be a must-visit for me, because fragrance and wine are two of my favorite things. I’m in USA.

  • Le Parfum says:

    O go with Orlov Paris!
Orlov Paris is one of the most luxurious brand I ever came across. The fragrances is so wonderful and well blended. The concept is very luxurious too. They are high end frangrance and expensive but it’s worth every penny invested. If you wanna quality and want to be excluvise you must invest some more money. The bottle and the box are so minimalistic and lovely. Star of the Season is the real star of the brand it’s a beautiful composition slight gourmand, creamy and spice that turns it very sexy and unisex too. Flame of Gold is another great fragrance very bold and remarkable, in my opinion is the most masculine. Sea of Light is very oceanic and made for spring and summer it’s very bright and it turns summer more elegant. Cross of Asia is a sweet floral very femine but very elegant.Orlov is the most feminine offer and women who loves white flowers will love it.
Worth check it out this house.
