From time to time, Independent Perfumer Pierre Guillaume of   “reworks” one of his classics as an addition to the original (which remains in the collection or in the case of Corps et Ames Apaisante is a limited edition). Like a painter whose artistic variations define periods, Pierre Guillaume makes several expressions of his ideas coexist and reinterprets his favorite themes.

“Collection ReWork” was officially introduced in 2012 with  COZE Verde 2.1,  Arabian Horse 3.1 and Vetiver Matale 6.1; reinterpreting COZE 02, Venenum Leather 03 and collectively the "Matales"- Hyperessence Matale 12 and L’Eau Rare Metale 06. In 2014, Pierre launched Grand Siecle Intense 7.1 followed (reviewed here by Tama).
 Pierre Guillaume has reworked the concept of olfactory bitterness in AOMASSI 10 to tell a new story: BOUQUET MASSAI 10.1.

Notes: Peony, Magnolia, Coffee, Cashmeran, Karo Karounde, Sandalwood

" A flamboyant rewriting with a tinge of peony, magnolia and karo-karounde (an African fragrant flower "Leptactina Senegambica"), bringing a Floral ritual to burning wood. “The burning bitterness of AOMASSAI carried us off to Africa and the legendary art of the Ivory Coast. The heat of a brush fire unfurled through a cashmeran and coffee accord, drawing us into a world of ancient rituals. This vibrant and mysterious composition, initially a woody oriental, has been rewritten into a new, floral oriental chapter. This time, the world turns brighter and sunnier with the introduction of peony, magnolia and karo-karounde. Tolu balsam, sandalwood and fruity touches add a velvety  backdrop”.

    I have never smelled (nor heard of) karo-karounde, so naturally now I really want to. My favorite PG is Cuir d’Iris and I am in the US.

    Love the thought of bringing a “floral ritual to burning wood”. Something blooming, coupled with something woody/smoky… intrigued! I live in Canada and I have not tried any Parfumerie Generale perfumes yet 🙂 Thanks

    what appeals to me about BOUQUET MASSAI10 is simply the notes of burning wood and floral notes sounds amazing.
    My favorite Parfumerie Generale perfume is Private Collection L`Oiseau de Nuit.

    This is an interesting idea because when you are working on a perfume, it is natural to come up with different variations and then releasing the one you find the most polished, But once in a while you do feel more than variations need to exist because they are all beautiful as Lutens did with Bois series. My fav. creation from Parfumerie Generale is L’Ombre Fauve. I am in the US

    I’m a Guillame fan and I love many creations of him, especially in PG line, my favorite is l’Eau Guerriere. I’d like to try new AOMASSI 10 release.
    Bouquet Massai 10.1 sounds great in its new bright flowered aspects.

    AOMASSAI is one of my fav PG’s Fragrances so I’m logging forward to test the new reinterpretation. “…peony, magnolia and karo-karounde.” – very curious about this mixture…

    I enjoy dry woods and incense am intrigued by adding a floral component to that mix. As to favorite Parfumerie Generale it’s hard to choose a favorite but the original Coze is one of them. Thanks for the draw, I’m in the US.

    Anything with sandalwood has my attention, and I’m very curious about Karo Karounde. I’ve not yet had the pleasure of sampling any Parfumerie Generale scents yet … I hope to change that soon. I’m in USA.

    I am always curious to try fragrances with coffee notes in them and I am a sucker for woody scents as well. I’ve only come across karo-karounde once before, in L’Artisa’s Timbuktu, but that perfume is so dry to me I hardly get any floral at all! The the description of the flower (similar to jasmine and gardenia) and how it is used in rituals n parts of Africa instantly piqued my curiosity. I am so happy to see it popping up again in another scent!

    A woody oriental that turned into a floral oriental magnolia, peony, sandalwood….sounds very appealing to me I wonder how karo karounde smells first time to read about this note.
    Never had the chance to experience anything from this House, would love to be given the opportunity.

    The addition of magnolia intrigues me as well as the tolu.

    I’m a big fan of this line. A friend gave me a sample of Iris Oriental and I’m still savoring the last few drops.

    I’m really glad that the different versions are being released. Each contain the heart and soul of the perfumer and sometimes minor tweaks can make a huge difference. To be able to enjoy the different variations is wonderful!

    I love burning woods and would like to know how karo-karounde smells, no idea at all. I don’t know the whole line but I own Tonkamande and very happy with it! I live in EU (Spain).

    I greatly admire the boldness of Aomassai, I think Aomassai might actually be my favorite Parfumerie Generale scent, so I’d definitely like to try this new interpretation! I’m in Finland.

    Since you’re not supposed to drink coffee when you’re pregnant, I’d absolutely love to find a fragrance with a coffee accord that I can enjoy instead! I’ve never tried any of the PG scents, but this would be a great way to start. Thanks for the draw, I’m in the US!

    The karo-karounde note is intriguing. I have yet to delve into this house and this sounds like a challenging start, which I always enjoy.

    I like the idea of revisiting earlier works (I think if I were a perfumer, I would find it hard to resist doing this!) and karo-karounde sounds like an intriguing ingredient. I haven’t tried any PG scents yet, but I’ve been planning on seeking out Cuir d’Iris and, now, Bouquet Massai 10.1!

    Great read! I’m a fan of florals so I do like this one. It sounds very inviting, but mysterious at the same time. I’m definitely a fan of the house, my favorite being PG17.
