Nishane Istanbul Spice Bazaar (Youtube) Perfume Review + A Trip to the Grand Bazaar Draw

Creative Directors S. Mert Güzel And Murat Katran of Nishane Istanbul

Nishane Instanbul  was one of my greatest  perfume discoveries at Esxence 2015. I wrote at the time “Murat Katran and S. Mert Guzel, (both born in Instanbul) established the first Istanbul based House in 2012. Turkey is the only country that literally bridges two worlds; Asia and Europe.  Since antiquity the Bosphorus (Boğaziçi), the strait that separates two cultures has fascinated artists, poets, merchants, adventurers and conquerors.  Introduced at Esxence were their new extraits de parfums which according to Murat took five years of intensive research, finding the right accords, perfumers  and endless rounds of revisions  in order to bring the  true spirit of  Istanbul to life.   I usually shun large collections and there are 16 perfumes; but each fragrance represents a place, an ingredient, a continent, a country, a time in history.  The presentation is outstanding.  Each fragrance has a name and a number and is accompanied by a beautiful post card". Since then we have reviewed Múnegu, (which won one of my top 25 fragrances of 2015), Boszporusz, Dufbluten and  Pasion Choco.  -Michelyn Camen, Editor in Chief

  • as typical Sebastian’s review is phenomenal he gives a perfect review of the opening, notes and the gorgeous dry down. I have smelled a sample of Nishane Istanbul Spice Bazaar and it is amazing. Thank you cafleurebon.com and Sebastian from my favorite youtube channel looking feeling smelling great for this wonderful review and draw.

  • Love sebastian’s explaining of the individual notes and how they will be on your skin rather than just the smell. Great lookin bottle seem right up my ally.

  • Paula Tejano says:

Sebastian, very nice review and this is the first time I heard about Nishane fragrances. Spice Bazaar Extrait sounds very good and I would love to experience.

  • Sebastian’s review was excellent and very sentimental to me! In 2001, our last family vacation before my dad passed was to Istanbul. My dad had been very weak during our trip and when we went to the Bazaar he had a burst of energy and wanted to try all of the various foods and spices. He enjoyed our day of shopping at the bazaar, especially when he found someone selling musical instruments. Sebastian’s review took me back to that day with all of the smells of the various spices and all of the wonderment of the Grand Bazaar. I love Afrika Olifant, Musiqa Oud, and Suede et Safran. I am in the US and thanks for the draw! 🙂

  • Sebastian review was very good, i’m really interested in this fragrance, citrus at top, spices middle and leather pepper vanilla dry down. sounds like my cup of tea

  • I loved Sebastian`s take on this fragrance. The thought of exotic spices in a fragrance is something i adore and would love to try a bottle of this! Thank you Nishane for bringing this creation to us all!

  • R.Q. Wallace says:

Another great review from Sebastian. He was extremely vivid describing the similarities of the Grand Bazaar and Nishane’s Spice Bazaar. I’ve tried Musiqa Oud and Pasion Choco…and I love both! I’m very impressed with this house.

  • Sebastian gives well thought out and interesting reviews. I sometimes have trouble on youtube with some reviewers because they ramble too much, but his is all on point. I would like to experience the comforting dry down that Sebastian describes, after the spices have all done their thing. I haven’t tried any of these, but tops on my wish list, when finances allow, is the entire sample set from this line. Thank you for the draw. USA.

  • I’m an old fan of Sebastian’s channel on Youtube; his reviews are always instructive and explicatory, so… very helpful for a blind buy 😉 He’s very good in explaining notes…
I had the opportunity to test only “Suede et Safran”, but “Spice Bazar” has all my attention now…

    Thanks for the draw!

  • Seb is great. Been following him for some time now. I love his in depth reviews. This fragrance looks particularly interesting. I’d love to try it. Cumin!

  • Very proud of this house since it is the only fragrance house from my country. I believe they did excellent job with extract de parfum concentration fragrances.

Great review by Sebastian as always.

  • I enjoyed Sebastian sharing his experience traveling in the Middle East with his parents as a child and going to the bazaar. Then he shares how accurately this fragrance captured the spice bazaar. It’s a great story that proves fragrances conjure memories, and that’s why some of us enjoy them so much. I am not familiar with the Nishane house, so this would be my first experience with them.

  • Sebastian always paints an olfactory image that creates intrigue in my mind.. And this sounds amazing! Spices, vanilla, cinnamon! Awesome!

Sign me up! This sounds fantastic!

Thank you for this wonderful opportunity.

    Kind regards, Lj.

  • I think its great that a fragrance can bring back memories from several years gone by. With Sebastians review the fragrance brought back childhood memories. Amazing! Im very new with experience with Nishane house. I have samples of a few ordered that Im excited about, including Pasion Choco:) Would love love love a bottle of this. Thank you very much for the opportunity!

  • I liked that Sebastian mentioned which slices the fragrance features to his nose, and how it develops. Spices and resins are a pretty vague and general concept, which can mean anything from animalic and dirty, to gourmand, to churchy. Mentioning the specific spice notes give a much better indication of what to expect from the fragrance.

  • Mrs. MacDonald says:

When Sebastian gets excited about something i listen, so i would be very excited about owning this one. Thanks for the opportunity! Way to go Sebastian!

  • I really enjoyed Sebastian’s personal story of visiting the Grand Bazaar and experiencing all of the smells associated with the market. I’ve never been to the middle east, but I have been to really large open markets in Korea, and there were always so many distinctive smells that accompanied those trips. This sounds so exotic, I’d love to try it. I haven’t tried anything from this line, I hadn’t even heard of it! Thanks for the draw!

  • I love whenever Seb discovers and talks about less known houses. Plus, now he brings in guests to add more thoughts to his reviews.

  • I’ve not yet tried anything from Nishane, but this review definitely has my interest piqued. Sebastian’s familiarity with the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul definitely enhances his review. And what longevity! I doubt I would go for three sprays, though — I am more of a one-spray kind of person. But I have definitely gotten into cumin lately, so Spice Bazaar is definitely going on my must-try list.

    I am in the US.

  • Donovan Reich says:

I have never had the pleasure to smell any fragrances by Nishane Istanbul, however, from the story Sebastian told I am most certainly intrigued. I must say that was my favorite part of the video (Sebastian telling of his family trip to the Grand Bazaar). I love when fragrance takes me on a journey, and I surely hope to experience what this liquid beauty has to offer! Thanks for the opportunity for the giveaway, I reside in the US!

  • Sebastian is spot on when he tries to imagine the smell wafting through the air in an Arab bazaar. The bazaars in Turkey are not much different. I remember chatting with someone few days ago and he said one of the reasons he loves Ambre Sultan is nostalgia because the first time he smelled something like Lutens Ambre Sultan was during a ride in Turkey where he lived with his family. The driver had something hanging from center mirror and the smell was so good and exactly how Ambre Sultan smells like. So I guess this Istanbul Spice Bazaar is going to impress. I first came to know about Nishane through Cafleurebon and since then have heard a lot about brand but not tried yet. thanks a lot for the generous draw. I am in the US

  • I’d be happy to have this. Great note list for the top, middle and base. Each level is very unique.

  • I’ve heard many great things about the Nishane Istanbul line but have yet to try any of their fragrances. Sebastian makes this one sound amazing! The notes are some of my favorites. I would love to try Spice Bazaar! Thank you for the chance. I live in the US.

  • Devicemanager says:

Sebastian has to be one of the hardest working fragrance reviewer, he is always busy posting and keeping up with his subscribers unlike no other i see other reviewers but they only put in work in youtube and not other social networks, great work and awesome reviews , thank you for what you do and thanks to Cafleurebon for the chance to win this super indie strong fragrance.

  • Sounds like a gr8 blend of citrus, spice and woods.
Sebastian makes the already great note breakdown sound even more exciting. I ve tried almost all of sebastian’s recommendations and almost always agreed with him. Hence this has to be a definite try. Cant wait.

  • hi all

First of all thanks to Sebastian and cafleurebon for the opportunity to participate, I enjoy and always look forward to Sebastian review even though sometimes the YouTube post/notifications comes in late at night because of time difference. I’m very much interested in this indie house as I am trying to expend my collection to the Niche category this would be my first niche bottle, As I’ve mentioned before i am globally disposition in the sense that only last year i was afforded a chance to smell creed and creed has been around for years. I volunteer myself to give this a proper test drive

    Thanks again

I closed my eyes while listening to Sebastian and he took me back to 2007 when I visited Turkey. Beautiful country with beautiful people and the Bazaar’s are exceptional. Really , you have to experience this, even if it’s just once in a lifetime. Exactly how Sebastian describe it. When it comes to fragrances and spices I truly love Cinnamon, it’s an underrated ingredient which can give not only food but also fragrances a warm and cozy feeling. Enjoined the whole article a lot, never had any fragrances tried yet from Nishane Istanbul but would love to try this Spize Bazaar Extrait. Thanks for this draw Cafleurebon, Sebastian and Nishane , Cok teşekkürler !

  • Sebastian always puts a personal touch into his reviews, whether it be his memories and recollections, ideas and suggestions or simply his understanding of the fragrance which goes beyond the simple analytical approach many other reviewers adopt. I have yet to try any of Nishane’s offerings as they are not available where I live, but Afrika-Olifant has already caught my attention and Spice Bazaar sounds like a winner!

  • I like the way Seb shares with us his passion for fragrances and perfumes. In this video he kinda makes you travel in his childhood memories. As for Nishane, i’m not familiar with this house but i’m very intrigued in experiencing some of their offerings, but unfortunately at the moment i can’t find them here in Italy. Thank you for this opportunity.

  • Iuno Feronia says:

  • I have very enjoyed of the video review. This perfume sounds incredibly good. I have never had a chance to try any of Nishane perfumes, but I have read of this brand before. Thank you for the draw!

  • Sounds like an incredible fragrance!Makes me want to travel & experience the spice bazaar first hand! Thanks for the review & drawing!

  • Sebastian always does a great job in his reviews and is a great contributor to the site. His description of going to the Grand Bazzar and his exposures to other Bazzars make him perfect to review this fragrance. This house performs well and my favorites are Afrika Olifant,Ambra Calabria and Wulong Cha. Thanks from Hawaii.

  • Yumm… juniper, pepper and yuzu, a fascinating mix of lovely notes, at the moment on top of my personal hit list with tobacco.
Thanks Sebastian for your rewiew and your YouTube Channel, what a pleasant surprise!
Your words and comments have reinforced my beliefs about Nishane creations: Great perfumery with a middlewestern touch, a travel in a bottle.
I tested some fragrances by Nishane and the feedback has been very positive, I particularly love Sultan Vetiver.
    I live in Italy

  • Another great review by Sebastian. I like the way he paints a picture in the viewer’s mind. He does a great job at going into detail about a fragrance. I haven’t smelled a Nishane fragrance yet, but I’m dying to get my nose on this one. Sounds incredible! I’m a Canadian reader and thanks for this awesome draw.

  • I’ve not yet tried anything from Nishane, but this review definitely has my interest piqued.
Sebastian’s familiarity with the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul definitely enhances his review– I liked hearing about his travels!

Saffron is my favorite spice, and I also love ginger and cedar and cinnamon. I am more of a one-spray kind of person, especially with powerful ones. But I love pepper and cumin and vanilla, so Spice Bazaar is definitely going on my must-try list. Thank you for the review and draw!

    I am in the US.

  • I trust Sebastian for the most part, but i enjoy the more personal reviews because he has the abillity to transport you to the places that hes talking about…im dying to try this fragrance! Im from Mexico and we love spices and we use them a lot…

  • I really enjoyed Sebastian’s description of the world bazaar and his experiences growing up. He also does an excellent job describing the notes in Nishane Spice Bazaar. I’m unfamiliar with the brand. Thanks for the review and generous opportunity!

  • Been a subscriber to Sebastian for a long time. He has great videos, knowledge and passion for the art. I trust his nose 🙂 Would love to try out Nishane Spice Bazaar looks great. They also perform which is a must for me 🙂

  • I haven’t tried anything from this brand yet but I’ve been hearing a lot of great things about Nishane lately and Sebastians review makes me want to try some even more! I’m especially tempted because I love strong scents with great longevity! And the Istanbul spice bazaar sounds like such a magical place!

  • Another nice review Sebastian. I enjoy his videos quite a lot. Have been watching him for a long time. He does a great job at explaining the feeling of a scent. I’ve heard a lot about Nishane but have not tried anything yet. Thanks for the draw!

    I’m in Canada.

  • I love the fact that Sebastian did visit the Bazaar and so he knows the smells and that is just amazing. Like always I love the sincerity.

I am not familiar with Nishane but I hope I will be lucky enough to try Spice Bazaar.

I am a reader from the EU.

Thank you very much! Wish you all the best!

  • Diana Devlin says:

I just love Sebastian’s reviews! He speaks so passionately about the notes and I just enjoy how much he loves fragrances. This fragrance sounds so mysterious, exotic and sexy. I’d love to win it but should I not, I’d love to get a sample to try out.
    I live in the U.S.

  • Sebastian, you make me wish I could drive to Istanbul with my family. My mother took a trip there with friends last year, and the Grand Bazaar was her most favorite place in Turkey. There she felt the weight of the centuries and the absolute vitality of life at the same time.

I imagine Nishane’s Grand Bazaar evokes a similar feeling of depth and excitement. Thank you for your review. I am glad to hear the cumin is nothing to be afraid of in this scent, as I love aromatics, woods, and vanilla — delicious. I have not yet tried a scent from Nishane. Thank you very much for the draw.

  • Excellent use of visuals drawing us into the spice bazaar of old. As a fledgeling into the world of niche colognes, I have yet to experience this maker. It seems pretty unique that cumin is one of the main scents, however, the chemistry of the blend appears able to pull it together. Thanks for the draw. GregoryS

  • Sebastion is one of my favourite reviewer. We have similas taste so I always curious about his offerings.

  • I usually don’t pay attention to YouTube reviewers but this one was pretty good.
Description of this event is interesting, it’s like a well blended miss of woods, spice and also citrus.
Also like the part describing the comforting drydown. Sounds like a great fragrance overall.
I live in the US. Thanks.

  • I loved hearing about Sebastian’s travels – I haven’t been to the Middle East, but I’m glad there are fragrances that can give me a sense of what walking through a spice bazaar might be like! Thanks for the draw (I’m in the US)

  • I have always enjoyed Sebastian’s fragrance reviews. His ability to take me into all he appreciates in a fragrance, lets me know that Nishane’s Spice Bazaar will be a new and transmitting Scent revelation. When I am the winning draw, my Olfactory senses will no doubt be privileged.

  • I’ve heard of Nishane, but haven’t gotten my nose on any of ther stuff yet. It sounds ike a great house though. I enjoyed Sebastian’s first-hand comparison of the scent to actual spice bazaars. Thanks for the draw.

  • I love spices.
    I love Eminonu spice bazaar.
I recently revisited it …. thanks for putting it in a bottle. It would bring back wonderful memories. The review evokes the scents well.
I do not know Nishane line … yet (I know the area)

  • Sebastian has so much talent in reviewing perfumes, which is so difficult to do. Watching his review really gives me a good sense of how Spice Bazaar Extrait smells like.

I love the idea of visiting a bazaar in Istanbul. I love fragrances that transport me to exotic faraway places.

I live in the USA. Thank you!

  • Sebastian always do a great job on his review. This fragrance sounds very interesting however I never tried any Nishane fragrance yet but Spice Bazaar should be a nice start.
I live in the USA. Thank you very much 🙂

  • I loved how sebastian describes his experience with the scent. This fragrances should be very nice. Unfortunately I have never tried this one or any from Nishane brand.

I typically love new releases. I am a tobacco fan really, so I usually try to gather samples of new tobacco scents. Good thing that this fragrance has a lot of spices in there as well, so based on the review I think this should be a really awesome fragrance. I have not heard about this company so far, so would be nice to try this one out.
