    An intelligent review! I particularly enjoyed the description of popcorn as an anchor to the tangible, whilst immersed in the experience of watching a film. Popcorn is also a favourite snack, especially with homemade butter caramel coating!

    I thought it was rather timely that Stevie Nicks, “Leather and Lace” was playing in the introduction. Perhaps, the last two people on earth, city or mountain, stay with me, stay… coupled with a jug of Le Fin Du Monde the human race might just continue. Cormac McCarthy’s, The Road keeps coming to mind-the foraging for seeds, a speck of this to make that, gunsmoke and a child carrying on. I am hoping that the carrot seed and orris give a hint of Hiris to the mix. How Mr. Bisch worked in the popcorn note is making my mind boggle. Can’t wait to found out!

    I was glad to read in the review that the popcorn accord doesn’t make the perfume reek of movie theater. Instead, I’m intrigued now, thanks to the review. I am still wondering about the cannon aspect….

    I thought this perfume review was terrific. Honestly, when i heard about ELO La Fin Du Monde and popcorn I thought it was a big gimmick. now I WANT it. Fascinating that Quentin Bisch went through 200 trials to get the fragrance perfect. I really Enjoy Alex and loved his reference to Monthy Python and a trend in the UK to gourmet popcorn. I’ll take the perfume please

    I like that he mentioned that this perfume is a perfect balance of pessimism and optimism…also, 200 revisions? My goodness, perfectionism at it’s best. The popcorn note keeps it in a spectator’s point of view, like watching a movie about the end of the world, interesting!!! His review makes me want to try this more:).

    the popcorn accord description really makes one wonder how this fragrance may smell…for some reasons, Fracas has always reminded me of melting butter and i am wondering if this fragrance has any resemblance to Fracas because popcorn also has a buttery aroma

    Both subversive and comforting, sounds good! I love the armchair, the Monty Python reference and I agree that it is indeed enjoyable to watch the end of the world from behind a bucket of popcorn.

    The end of the world synonymous with the smell of popcorn? That’s a different take on the apocalypse. 200 revisions in 5 months is insane but if that’s what it takes to make perfection then so be it. Alex has a way with words and how he uses analogies to describe perfumes. Great stuff!

    I have been so excited for this fragrance ever since it was first announced. The visual of the popcorn exploding with the mushroom cloud was genius. The combination of notes sound insane but I am eager to give it a smell!

    The question is “What didn’t I like?” Most enjoyable! I love the analysis of popcorn as the perfect accompaniment to the end of the world. ‘Tis true! Who doesn’t like the lo brow pleasure of munching popcorn while watching the apocalypse on a humongous screen? Bravo!

    So many reviews and this review took the popcorn! Maybe it was the end of the world concept but what really had me is the perfume itself and the perfumist. Congrats to Mr. Bisch…he intrigues me.

    Oh my gosh — Alex, you’re hilarious! I love the idea of this perfume’s theme song being “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.” I now feel as though Le Fin du Monde would protect me in the (inevitable?) event of an Apopcalypse. (Or, as the case may be, a government shut-down.) “Irradiated from behind your popcorn bucket shield,” indeed! I live in the U.S. and thanks for the draw.

Etat libre is my favourite niche house and that bottle would be given a happy home. I want it to be a gourmand yatagan, I’ll even settle for burnt cinema upholstery. Please pick me!

    Really interesting point of view, would love to try it, most interesting is that he mentions the Monty Python song Always Look On the Bright Side Of Life, that’s awesome! If that is the soundtrack/song for that perfume I’d love to wear it every single day!!!

    I liked this review! I liked how Alex does ask and then explore this question, and goes deeper than popcorn=movies=trendy apocafilms=trendy perfume

    I love ‘Always Look on the Bright Side of Life’ and would love to wear the perfume version of that song! Life of Brian is my favorite Python film, partly because it has a satisfying ending.

    I ve never thought that one of the notes used in perfume can be popcorn – it is probably because I do not live in the country where popcorn is used (eaten) in the daily basis. Bur review says that scent is mixed and notes smell unison – so I believe that fragrance can be great addition to my small collection. Thanks for a chance to win it!
