New Niche Fragrances: Parfums De Nicolai Rose Oud and Amber Oud “Patricia de Nicolai’s New Note”

de nicolai ouds

Patricia de Nicolai, established her House Parfums de Nicolai in 1989 and has never been one to follow what is trendy. Oud or agarwood as a note and an important  ingredient seems here to stay in Western Perfumery. Madame de Nicolai is using oud in a perfume for the first time since the Company's inception, while remaining faithful to her elegant signatures style. Rose Oud and Amber Oud are the first two EDPs in what will be an OUD collection.

I have created perfumes using the oud – or agarwood – because I wanted to enrich my collection of powerful and high running fragrances’ explains Patricia de Nicolaï. ‘With this extraordinary richness of the essence of agarwood, sign of purification in the Middle-East, I wanted to associate, for one of the two new perfumes, an amber combination and for the other, a rose combination.’

  • I’m a big fan of this line.Reasonably priced quality juice-even if they don’t all work for me.And the small size option should be offered by all the niche houses. These both sound interesting so I will certainly give them a try. Thanks for the heads up Michelyn. Now I have a reason to visit Twisted Lily!

  • I love PdN’s collection. These two sound like a great addition to the line. And the new bottle design does look good.

  • on the one hand I am a bit surprised by such a late decision to join the cr-Oud… on the other I am confident that mrs.Nicolai will have something different to share with us about the note that seems to be bursting out of every atomizer on the planet lately. I am looking forward to trying these

These new ouds sound wonderfull. Can’t wait to try both. I wouldn’t expect anything but stellar from the house of Nicolai.

Expecting a classical treatment of the oud. Any word on pricing for her oud range? I’d expect she’d price these higher then her regular range though as per everybody else.

  • Oh yes, dying to try these and LOOOOOVE those bottles. Though I’d like to see an overall bottle revamp, I don’t want to see prices rise too high. Have any idea if this is what all the new bottles will look like? I heard that they are re-doing them…

  • I love PdN and I’m so happy the lovely people at Twisted Lily are carrying the line. Really looking forward to trying these.
