New Fragrances from Arquiste Parfumeur L’Etrog Acqua and The Architects Club

When Managing Editor Tama Blough was in Milan at the Esxence Exhibition last week one of her most pleasant hours was spent with the charming and talented Carlos Huber, the Creative Director of Arquiste Parfumeur. She mentioned really enjoying previewing the two new fragrances, so after much begging and pleading, Carlos was kind enough to send me the details about the two new releases L’Etrog Acqua is scheduled to be released in early June 2014 and The Architects Club  in September. Patience is not my strong suit and if you read CaFleureBon, chances are you read our blog to read about what's new and note worthy.

Carlos is an architect and if somehow this is your first time reading about the line, he works with perfumers Rodrigo-Flores Roux and Yann Vasnier to create fragrances that are time capsules. We all have our favorites, from Animas Dulcis to Boutonniere No 7 which was one of our favorite perfumes in 2012.

L’Etrog was released in 2011 and presented a scented tableau of Succoth in Calabria in 1175. Tama wrote “I was very excited L’Etrog Acqua was created by perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux for himself as a summer scent. He liked the citrus of the regular L'Etrog but for a summer scent didn't want the dates and warmer elements. Carlos smelled it on him one day and said "What is that?" With a bit of tweaking it became what he calls "not a flanker, but a brother from the same gene pool."

Early Morning, October 1175, Calabria

The cool night air dissipates under the sun’s first rays. The ripe citrus in the field has absorbed all of the morning dew and the farmers are ready to work on the misty green fields. They leave their cabin built of wooden branches and leaves and take a deep breath of fresh air

Notes include: Myrtle leaf, Calabrese Cedrat, Sicilian Lemon, Italian Mandarin, Petitgrain Citronnier, Bergamot, Labdanum, Cedar wood, Vetiver.

The Architects Club

Dusk, March, 1930, Mayfair, London

A group of architects gather for cocktails at Mayfair's smartest Art Deco smoking room. As they settle in the warm interior of dark woods, leather and velvet, London's bright young things burst in, frosted martinis in hand, surrounded by a cloud of laughter, white smoke and fine vanilla.

Notes include: Juniper berry oil, Angelica root, Lemon, Bitter Orange, Pepper wood, Guaiac wood, Oak wood, Vanilla Absolute and Amber.

Developed with Yann Vasnier

Prices 100ml/170 Euros or $190

  • Oh these sound wonderful. The Architects Club sounds fabulous. And I love that L’Etrog was revisited because that one was challenging, I own a bottle of Flora y Canto which is one of my go tos.
Thank you for begging and thank you Mr. Huber for your amazing perfumes

  • These both sound wonderful…my heritage is largely Calabrian and the citrus is unparalleled anywhere else in the world. I also love the idea of Carlos translating the idea of architecture into fragrance…woody vanilla is also one of my weaknesses and I know the quality will be unparalleled here. Thank you for the scoop!

  • I love the story about Rodrigo Flores Roux making his own scent out of LEtrog and Carlos Huber asking what are you wearing and it was from the original line.
I recently bought Alexandr and gave it to my SO for his birthday
    Architects Club sounds amazing

  • Both of these sound fantastic… Carlos, thanks for sharing 🙂 Love the “Brother from the same gene pool”. Seriously whats not to love about sparkling, smoky, and Sexy 😉 I too am impatient, so Carlos I look forward to the release in June but any chance of an earlier launch 😉 Haha Look forward to these both and Congratulations to Arquiste Parfumer

  • Both of them sound fascinating. 🙂 Though I’m more drawn to The Architects Club… Smoky vanilla – it sounds so sexy and romantic! I’ll definitely put it on my try list.

  • It was so much fun to meet Carlos Huber and get the stories from the horse’s mouth. These are both really good.

  • This line sounds amazing and the two newer ones seem very exciting.

Thanks so much to Carlos for his kindness and sharing these new scents with us. Also for taking our Tama under his perfumed wing in Milan. Can’t wait to try all these. 🙂

  • They both sound divine! The quality of fragrances by Arquiste is undeniable, and I can’t wait to try the new ones.

  • Enjoyed the links to the interview with Yann and Rodrigo and Carlos’ profile very much, because I had not discovered this blog yet.

  • I look forward to these with great anticipation! I own and love Infanta en Flor, Alexandr, Anima Dulcis, and Flor Y Canto. Perhaps it’s time to look at getting one of the L’Etrogs next!

  • I am such a sucker for these perfumes with imaginary stories behind them. I love the creativity!
