Creative Director Neela Vermeire introduces her seventh fragrance collaboration (Trayee, Bollywood Bling, Mohur, Mohur Extrait, Ashoka and Pichola) with Bertrand Duchaufour, two years in the making. Rahele (traveler) is an olfactory journey in the company of 17th Century French visitors to the East, the scented story of three adventurers who chronicled their journeys from France to India and showed the world Mughal India through a European lens. It is the olfactory tale of Jean-Baptiste Tavernier (1605-1689) the French jeweler of Belgian descent, an independently wealthy gem merchant who bought a gigantic blue diamond in Golconda known as The French Blue which he subsequently sold to the Sun King, Louis XIV, Francois Bernier (1620–1688) was physician to the eldest son of Shah Jahan and, more widely, to the court during his 12-year stay in India and Jean Thévenot (1633-1667) a linguist and botanist. All three travelers were some of the best social historians of their times who witnessed court life and splendours first- hand and wrote about their insights into the mystique of India.
Rahele is truly an East meets West composition, heavily centered around Osmanthus – melding the woods and spices of India with herbal and floral essences of classical French perfumery.
Rahele will be sold in the near future 60ml/$235
