The House of Lubin is one of the oldest Perfume Houses in the world established in 1798, in Paris by Pierre Francois Lubin. His perfume was commissioned by French royalty and nobility; Marie Antoinette, Napolean and Josephine. Creative Director and President Gilles Thevenin announces Lubin’s newest release Upper Ten. Inspired by the self made moguls of the Industrial Age , who left the Old World for America and who gradually arose from the millions of immigrants; not an aristocracy of birth, but an elite of visionary and ambitious men, known as the Upper Ten.
“American poet Nathaniel Parker Willis coined the phrase around 1850 to designate "the ten thousand that matter", meaning those men who channelled their vision forcefully into creation and construction and laid the groundwork for US supremacy. Upper Ten is the fragrance of the corridors of power. The aroma is like entering a New York or Chicago Gentlemen’s Club in 1880. Precious wood panelling lines the walls. Men with intense eyes and austere expressions sit back like resting panthers in patinated dark leather armchairs, their careful dress contrasting dramatically with their weathered skin, the low murmur of their voices absorbed into the hushed surroundings.Cedar, sandalwood and fine leather with an added floral touch of geranium make up the main accord of this manly tribute to the pioneering force of these giants of the Industrial Age. Cardamom quickens its woody note while smooth cinnamon invigorates the mix. The amber, musky base brings more potency and depth, conferring a reassuring strength”.
Notes: Bergamot, cardamom, Cinnamon, geranium essence, leather, Cedar wood, sandalwood, amber, musk
Perfumer: Thomas Fontaine.
