Fragrance Royalty… Michel Roudnitska, Romano Ricci, Celene Ellena, Jaques Polge Erwin Creed and the first lady of niche Patricia de Nicolai to name a few. Pauline Rochas, the granddaughter of Marcel and Helene Rochas joins their ranks with the launch of Le Premier Parfum. As the founder of the Williamsburg photo studio Coolife in 2000 with Carole Beaupré, their clients have included by Kilian, Ralph Lauren, Estee Lauder and other luxury lifestyle brands.
Last year they expanded their photographic work to fine art and fragrance and Le Premier Parfum was inspired by a series of erotic portraiture. They enlisted Patricia Choux of Takasago as the nose and Creative Director Marc Atlan for the bottle design and packaging
According to the press rlease the fragrance was meant to activate the second chakra- the energy of sexuality…"Le Premier Parfum is not merely a fragracne but an aphrodisiac".
Mme Choux concentrated on "seven raw materials that are associated with the 2nd chakra including sandalwood, patchouli, ylang-ylang, and labdanum… instead of creating a perfume following the classic olfactive pyramid of top, heart and base notes, Choux, Rochas and Beaupre sought minimalism that leaves room for mysticism and interpretation".
Only 500 bottles were made. 50 ml/ $175
Le Premier Parfum is currently available at Twisted Lily in Brooklyn, Osswald NYC and www.bycoolife.com

Editor's Note: A few weeks ago at Twisted Lily, I had a chance to test Le Premier Parfum briefly, too briefly for a review and was struck by its minimalist composition and the dominance of wood notes.
