New Fragrance: Jardins D’Ecrivains MARLOWE – Elizabethan Playwright Christopher Marlowe

Marlowe-Portrait-1585

Before there was Shakespeare, there was Christopher Marlowe (1564-1583).  Educated at Cambridge, Christopher Marlowe's dark and often troubling poetry and plays made him the bad boy of Elizabethan theatre. His notorious Doctor Faustus, The Jew of Malta and the Massacre at Paris were amongst his famous works. He was controversial in his own life, possibly a spy for Queen Elizabeth since his university days. He was arrested for heresy in 1653, released from prison but assasinated 20 days later.  His murder sparked quite a few conspiracy theories  that continue today.

What an enigmatic personality Christopher Marlowe must have been and so appears to be this new perfume with notes like osmanthus, myhrr, labdanum, musk. What a joy to one’s senses this creation must be.

  • I love these “inspiration” perfumes. He is a fascinating character. I’ll be interested to see what the perfumer does with this.
