New Fragrance: Ineke Rühland of Ineke Perfumes Partners with Anthropologie “Floral Curiousities”

 

 

When one of our favorite American niche perfumers  collaborates with Anthropologie we know it will ca fleure bon.  What brought them together? It  was their mutual  passion for perfume, art, design, travel and literature. The collection was inspired by Ineke’s garden, and captures the essence of rare botanicals. And details matter;  from the  unique character of  the flowers represented to through the artistically rendered flacon and packaging -cylindrical glass bottles enclosed in boxes decorated by prose in hand-drawn calligraphy

The Fragrances:

Angel’s Trumpet (Brugmansia) Rich and Opulent

Angel’s Trumpet opens with refreshing notes of honeydew melon, Seville orange and leafy greens. The fragrance is then warmed by cinnamon leaf and allspice and supported by Virginia cedar and white musk.

Briar Rose (Rosa rubiginosa) Fruity and Powdery

Dark accents inspired by twisted thorns characterize Briar Rose. Black raspberry, bitter almond, exotic spices, black violet, patchouli and cacao absolute come together to form a unique fragrance.

Poet’s Jasmine (Jasminum officinale) Citrus and Herbal

A fragrance inspired by Poet’s Jasmine tea, replete with slices of citrus fruit. Added points of interest include star anise, rosemary, absinthe, frankincense, cardamom, hinoki wood and guaiac wood.

Scarlet Larkspur (Delphinium cardinale) Floral Oriental

The scent deepens with notes of claret wine, nutmeg, saffron, amyris wood, tonka bean and bourbon vanilla after a bright fruity opening consisting of blood orange, red currant and morello cherry

Eau de parfum spray vaporizer, 2.5 fl. oz., $68

    I love the eclectic vibes of Anthropoligy. Purchases made there make me feel like Im in an ornate farmhouse abroad. Buying up little treasures unavailable elsewhere. Quite honestly, looking at the bottles of Scarlet Larkspur, Poets Jasmine and Briar Rose I can totally see them fitting right into that envoirnment.
    Way to go best to you cant wait to see those gorgeous bottles in their new home!

    Hurrah! Ineke is one of my favorite fragrance artists so, of course, I will try these. I’m pretty sure Angel’s Trumpet and Scarlet Larkspur will be right at home in my collection.

    Oh, good, the cat is out of the bag and I can talk about them now! I heard Ineke speak back in April and she mentioned this line coming out – we were all very excited to sniff them! Now we can – hopefully my Anthropologie will have them, being in Ineke’s town and all but you never know – they can be a little sketch in their ever-changing but interesting collection.

    Definitely looking forward to these. Niche samplings are few and far between in my area – but we do have Anthropologie. This is the only chance for me to sample new Ineke areound here. I see several possibilities in the lineup, but Poet’s Jasmine sounds like THE ONE.

    I was with Tama and a group when Ineke told us about these and I’ve been so excited for the launch. I like the direction of a lot of the Anthropologie collaborations with “niche” outfits and independent perfumers.

    It seems that they plan the projects to be limited editions that are around only for about 12-18 months though, I think? That’s the only drawback for those of us who can’t buy *everything* even if we want to.

    Actually, they all look interesting. The notes in Dark Rose are very appealing to me, although “fruity and powdery” isn’t normally a combination that I would hunt down. But “dark accents inspired by twisted thorns” (if that’s truly the case) would be just great!

    Likewise, the fruity opening of Scarlet Larkspur seems odd for a fragrance described as a floral oriental. I’m intrigued. Plus, I like Ineke and I would love to support her work.

    Sounds exctiting. The price point is certainly terrific. The Rose one sounds most appealing to me.

    Oh my goodness, they all look fabulous but I have to go with the Angels Trumpet, since I adore night-blooming florals. What a great idea, I have to head over to my local Anthropologie shop as soon as these hit the market!

    ohmigosh….clearly I will have to try them all…can’t decide on just one!
    I wonder if she’ll have a sample pack?
    I like everything Ineke does so I’m sure these will be no exception!

    Scarlett larkspur sounds like I would adore it as well as briar rose
    Between the four there is sure to be one or more for all

    The whole line sounds very appealing, but you had me at Angel’s Trumpet, as I have an unhealthy obsessioin with that plant family. Any perfume that can evoke something near to that beauty is a winner in my book. I look forward to trying it out!

    Yes! Yes! This sounds like such a great collaboration! I can’t wait to try Poet’s Jasmine (can you really ever have enough Jasmine tea fragrances in your collection) and Scarlet Larkspurr.

    LOVE Ineke’s scents! This is a great price point – and what fun to partner with Anthropologie. I love their concept. All of these scents sound wonderful. I’m a floral oriental ho, so would love to try Scarlet. Poet’s Jasmine sounds very interesting, too, as I love me some jasmine tea.

    Anthropologie is an amazingly hip, vibrant and cool environment. The team is absolutely tops and to have partnered with Ineke has to be a coup so well done to Anthropologie for having the brilliance to have done it and Chapeau to Ineke for achieving such gorgeous perfumes in very lovely packaging too. It can only be a huge success!

    So exciting! I just found my sample of Chemical Bonding, and it is delightful in this heat advisory weather. I am a decant person, since I don’t have the income yet to buy all that I want, but these bottles coo to me. Poet’s Jasmine sounds signature-worthy (every note!), as well as Scarlet Larkspur. Briar Rose sounds like a love it or hate it for me, and Angel’s Trumpet sounds pretty as long as the honeydew doesn’t dominate. I wish Ineke great success with the Floral Curiousities and look forward to testing them someday!

    Not only does Scarlet Larkspur sound heavenly, the bottle is beautiful. Not only is Ineke a gifted perfumer, but much care is put into the quality and design of her packaging.
