Sylva Pagana perfumes at Renaissance Fair courtesy of Sylva Pagana
There is in Oklahoma a Sylva Pagana or “woodland, country dweller” named Delaney Martin who creates natural aromas (and other body products) with names and aromas which tell a story without ever speaking a word. It's a Medieval wonderland just after obeying the command “Smell Me”. Adding to the theme and by way of spreading the folklore- Delaney goes on tour to Renaissance Fairs*, with her husband and collection of Sylva Pagana poetry.
Even the familiar raven and transporting artwork is the craft of Delaney, and this raven invites us to indulge “evermore.”

Immersing myself in the world of Sylva Pagana, I found myself in Ancient Oak– a light filled aroma; I thought this must be a tincture of what the tree said to a boy 20 years before he found himself to be a Druid priest. The top notes incorporate a sustainable rosewood, showing reverence for elven. The forest is alive, protecting the endangered tree, and much of the mission of the humans behind this pagan forest.
The oak is sweetened and spiced with nutmeg and vanilla while ambrette, tobacco and hay give realism to the flora of an oak forest and a touch of musk be it huma.,Notes: wild-crafted oak wood absolute, wild-crafted sustainable rosewood essential oil, vanilla bourbon essential oil (C02), natural tobacco absolute, natural hay absolute, organic nutmeg essential oil, natural ambrette essential oil, wild-crafted oak moss absolute
Errol Flyn in Captain's Blood
The captain's boots a seaweed stained leather, oakmoss and cognac stained from nights in seaport debauchery. The Captain's Blend is at once cypriol leather and wood- captain and his ship, but pink peppercorn and seaweed absolute add a floral and saline touch. A wild soul has groomed himself, but there is still the musk of man untamed by water or woman. Cocoa and patchouli add sweetness for a sailor in an otherwise salty world. This is a fairy tale pirate, the kind of villainy which touches the heart and induces compassion for the wave tossed wayward soul.
Notes: organic benzoin essential oil, natural ambrette seed essential oil, natural nagarmotha (Cypriol) essential oil, natural green cognac absolute, pink peppercorn essential oil, organic dark patchouli essential oil, natural tobacco absolute, natural seaweed absolute, organic cocoa absolute
She Moves Me by Delaney Martin
There are many more inhabitants of these woods, including Damsel, whose floral beauty and neroli color deepen with age, the Black Rose whose kingdom seems to contain literal droplets of her petals and a solid perfume called Satyr, for moments when touch and closeness are the moral of the story.
