I bought a bottle from Barney’s, as soon as I could.
I put it on me, I put it on B, I put it on Jacob….
BIG MISTAKE.
Swooning son.
What could a mama do?
I gave him my bottle.
And he’ll probably need a bigger one before December.
“Oh, Mama ! I could wear this and never tire of it…it’s my drug!” quoth he.
Out of the mouths of babes.
Only, my babe will soon be 20.
And he’s a guy whose first fragrance was Sisley Eau de Campagne.
Since then, he’s devoured a bottle of original Eau de Lalique, emptied two bottles of Eau des Merveilles, and spritzes liberally -from time to time- Habit Rouge, Prada Amber , Navegar, DSH’s Vetyver .
NOBODY wears Reverie au Jardin the way he does.
But the newest L’Artisan Parfumeur Coeur de Vetiver Sacre creation simply blew him away.
What’s in this potion that makes young existentialist types get the vapors ?
Well, it’s the work of young, gifted Karine Vinchon of Robertet- who created the Eau de Jatamansi natural line for L’AP.
AND Opus III in the new Amouage perfume library trilogy…
One has to cull a lot of different sites to obtain a full picture, but here’s the grocery list:
Vetiver [the star of the show !]- which snogs heavily with the following cast of characters:
Bergamot, black tea, tarragon, hints of dried dates and apricots, saffron, coriander, ginger, pink pepper, roses, iris, osmanthus, sandalwood, white cedarwood, gaiac, incense, amber, labdanum, tonka, vanilla, musk, castoreum, and birch.
YAHOO!!
What it smells like, is this:
Oh so smoky spicy rooty dry – but-never-dusty ambrosial elixir.
The gingery presence isn’t quite as fiery, scorching, even- as lovely Verochen’s Onda– But it’s a relative, perhaps a cousin.
It is eau de toilette strength, but if you re-spritz a few times over, it just lasts and lasts.
And the eventual drydown is a balsamic pleasure, rounded and utterly alluring.
For so many notes, it is a harmonious whole.
Yeah, I’ve been accused of hyperbole before.
But this is not it, frankly.
Outside of original Feminite du Bois and vintage Mitsouko-
Four out of four Meisters never agree on anything, olfactorally speaking.
Save this.
As soon as the next paycheck arrives, I’m off for a second bottle…
That is- if my other son doesn’t pinch it …
[B and I are good at sharing with each other!
Today is our 27th anniversary!!!]
