Actor Fernando Lamas and son, actor Lorenzo Lamas:  They look Mahhhhvelous

For those of us blessed to have a father still with us, we love you Pops, but really…  Unfortunately, many guys' grooming and fitness regime consists of soap on a roap and a spritz of Axe Body Spray (officially the worst cologne ever). They may tell the story about their winning touchdown (insert basket, goal, home run) when they were High School Athletes ad nauseam, but these days their only exercise is channel surfing and popping a top off a beer can. Even if your Dad knows that manscaping isn't another word for mowing the lawn, (whether you are a father or have a father) we thought our readers could benefit from some fabulous grooming, fragrance and fitness products to give or to keep.

There may be something about an Aqua Velva Man, but there is an art to shaving. In a cartoon it might be funny to have a bird nesting in your beard, but in real life it is better to be groomed. Whether he sports hipster scruff or facial hair that would make the Duck Dynasty clan proud,  with  Beard Envy From Billy Jealousy it's only three steps to refined yet rugged. The travel kit is great for dads on the go and contains Hydrating Beard Wash with aloe and nourishing soy, a Boar Bristled Brush that tames even the most savage stubble and Beard Control with aloe leaf juice that leaves Dad's moustache or beard silky smooth.

D.S & Durga HYLNDS Spirit of the Glen fragrance collaboration with The Glenlivet1

David Molz of D.S & Durga at The Glenlivet Distillery

If bottles of '80s cologne are collecting dust in his medicine chest, time to gift Dad (or yourself) with a fragrance that is truly unique.  We can't think of any better scent for Father's Day than  D.S. & Durga HYLANDS Spirit of the Glen . Made in small batches by Brooklyn Perfumer David Seth Moltz and his partner (and wife) Kavi,  it is the best whisky inspired scent we have ever tried. A collaboration with  The Glenlivet Distillery in Speyside, it's like sending your Dad to Scotland for the annual Speyside Whisky Fair.  Spirit of the Glen captures the strange terroir aspect of whisky production from the aging of the oak casks to the smoky vanilla sweetness reminiscent of the last lingering finish of a fine single malt scotch. The aromas of wild grasses and damp unpredictable weather will "scent" your father down the whiskey trail to The Championship Speyside Golf Course where he can dream of being a scratch golfer. Just don't tell him that this eau de parfum is not for men only. Ladies, filch a spritz when you can.

Warrior Abs for Men Personal training

Mary Fugle, Owner and Trainer of Warrior Abs for Men and Women

If Dad's six packs have the word "Bud" written on them, it's  time for him to get back into shape.  No matter his age (or yours) a gift of fitness is a gift  the entire family will share for years to come. According to Mary Fugle, AFAA Certified Personal Trainer who works with clients in Brooklyn and Manhattan, " Find at least 30 minutes a day to walk, lift some weights or stretch on alternating days.  You'll not only be around for your sons and daughters graduations and weddings, but you'll feel healthy and have fun with them.  Who doesn't look forward to tossing a grandchild up in the air or still sweeping your wife off her feet? Even better team up with Dad if you can and you can both enjoy the benefits of a healthier lifestyle".

Disclosure: HYLNDS Spirit of The Glen is my own. Billy Jealousy was sent to me for promotional consideration. Mary is my former personal trainer and Pilates Instructor

  • Great gesture for fathers. I truly love mine and he deserves to win because he has been working extremely hard for four decades as a professional and extremely talented musician. He wears Duc de Vervins and we are in the US. I love DS Durga by the way. One of the most original brands ever!

  • Because my husband is called Poppi, and he’s a gym rat, he definitely deserves HYLNDS Spirit of the Glen! He’s our BOY! Thanks for lovely article and draw dear CaFleureBon!

  • Nancy Knows says:

Michelyn, you had me in stitches with this. 🙂 I would love to win and deserve to win because I just drove through a roadblock to bring my husband dinner. If I win I promise to share with him but I love men’s fragrances and am dying to try DS & Durga. My dad has never worn fragrance but he did recently pick me up a bottle of vintage 4711 at a garage sale.

  • Nancy Knows says:

PS– I am actually writing down in my journal that I never ever thought I would see the words Duck Dynasty on Cafleurebon! 🙂

  • Nancy, if you get a knock on the door with a policeman/policewoman peering back at you through the peep hole, I reported you for the roadblock drive through 🙂 This was a great post, my pop’s didn’t have any kind of a six-pack, and my darling had arms that could crush anything, but was always gentle with me 😉 My husband and I shared fragrances often, one that I always loved on him was Guerlain Vetiver. I spritz this one when I need some comfort to all my senses.. Hylnds Spirit of the Glen has me stoked… Thanks for the humorous post Michelyn, & to the fabulous sponsors of this draw..

I’m in the US. My father tended to win contests with his wits, but I will try my luck with the random kind. He was old-school, reserved, but always very kind, and always very gentle, and for those two qualities, so crucially important in a role model and especially in a man, he deserved all good things in life. Not much of a perfume person, he did loyally use FA shower gel — and it is the main smell I associate with him — and I think the occasional dash of Old Spice. Thank you for the draw and the chance to share about my dad.

  • Elizabeth T. says:

What a fabulous draw, thank you!! I would love my husband to win as it is his first Father’s Day as a father. And an important side note, he is a whiskey connoisseur. 🙂

My own father has worn Tsar for years and is not likely to change anything soon. Though he has notice a change in the formula. He accused my mom of buying the wrong stuff a few years back! When I told him it had just been reformulated his face fell. Now I get him vintage bottles for Christmas, which are getting harder to come by every year…

  • What a great draw. I think I remember my Da wearing Hai Karate and Old Spice, he was a big burly policeman 🙂
I am SO very proud of my husband , son, Father and brother for serving their country. Nothing better than that blanket of Freedom.
    I live in the U.S..
    Thank you.

  • I became obsessed with perfume when I inherited his small collection in 2008. However, despite the 5 bottles that he wore, I associate Old Spice with my dad.

My partner deserves to win because he works so hard and travels frequently. The travel kit would be perfect for him. My hobby is perfume and his is drinking 🙂 so the Spirit of the Glen would be perfect for both of us. Neither of us really work out…so maybe the consultation would actually give us the kick in the butt we need to start.

Thanks for the draw! I’m in the US

  • My dad will be 91 this November.
The only scent that I remember him wearing, LONG AGO, was Old Spice. I remember the bottle sitting on the bathroom counter when I was young.
My mom thinks that he needs a scent these days, and they both drink whiskey.
He also has a beard and has one for most of the last 50 years.
Thanks for the drawing and Happy Fathers’ Day to all.

  • d3m0lici0n says:

My dad is no longer with us, this year marks ten years of his sudden departure. I miss him a lot and he was the one always wearing cologne, Brut, AllSpice and his favorite that was Lancaster. I am really proud of myself because i raised two wonderful girls and even though i am not the biological father i always looked at them as mine.
Thanks for the wonderful draw and happy father’s day.

  • Thank you for the drawing! My father has worn Joop for years now. He doesn’t have facial hair (or much hair left on his head at all, if we’re being honest), but he does love a good whisky and would probably enjoy a good whisky scent.

  • Valentine girl says:

I am a very lucky woman, because I have had both a father and a dad. My biological father passed away in a car accident when I was 4 years old; however, when I was 7, my mom met and married the most wonderful man, who went through the legal proceedings to adopt me as his daughter. Even though I am probably responsible for much of his gray hair and hair loss as a result of my wild and crazy teenage angst years, I would love to win so I can show my gratitude and thanks for always treating me as his own flesh and blood. For the last 40 years, he has been the best dad that a girl could ever ask for. My dad’s favorite scent was Old Spice, both cologne & deodorant, and I always remember seeing both on his dresser growing up. I love you Dad! Happy Father’s Day to all fathers and dads everywhere & thank you Cafleurebon for the chance to show our appreciation for all that they do. US resident.

  • I’m in the US, and I am grateful to my Dad for so many things I don’t even know yet! As I have gotten older, I have learned to appreciate many of his positive qualities, but mostly I appreciate his hard work and stiff upper lip 🙂 When he does wear scent, it is CK Obsession for Men.

  • The reason I feel my dad should win is because he needs to venture more into the fragrance more. He likes to smell good (some of my earliest fragrance memories are of wearing his fragrances – I mainly remember Herrera for Men and Obsession). Whenever I visitn and am wearing something that he finds to his liking, he’ll ask me how much it cost me and cringes when I reveal that it was more than $100.

HYLNDS Spirit of the Glen is something that he’ll like. I got a hold of a sample, and I think the smoky vanilla and oak will be to his liking.

I’m located in the US. Thank you for the draw.

  • RusticDove says:

I would love to win this for my husband as he is a budding perfumista in his own right and he enjoys good grooming products and fine whiskeys. Though we weren’t able to have children together, he is a caring and supportive stepfather and awesome daddy to our cats. We all reside in the US together. 🙂 My stepfather wore Old Spice and Brut back in the day.

  • Such a fun post i lol
My dad has no idea what manscaping is and wears canoe
He also could use a diet!
    Sorry DaD
My memory is pf the smell of shaving cream
    And toothpaste and camel cigarettes
I would live to give him all the gifts and keep HYLNDS spirit of the glen for myself
I have heard so much about D Sand Durga and this sound fantastic
    Happy fathers day !

  • Cynthia Richardson says:

My dad deserves to win because, at 79, he is the primary caregiver for my mom and insists that they get gussied up and go out at least once a day (to lunch, to meet with friends for a cut-throat game of Mexican Train dominoes, or to a sportsbar to watch their beloved Diamondbacks). He has also, by “default”, become the designated male in a group of 4 widows and he has to look good!

  • Fazal Cheema says:

growing up, i was probably the most obedient son in my family and among relatives though that was not probably a smart thing in hindsight 🙂 because it prevented me from experiencing the outside world and its risky aspects…when it comes to fragrances, my mom was really not into fragrances so all my childhood fragrance memories are related to my dad…the ones i specifically associate with him are Yardley Gold and Old Spice and later Givenchy Gentleman…i am in the US…

P.S. Funny coincidence this draw has beard grooming kit since i have pretty grown beard these days out of laziness

  • Cynthia Richardson says:

I had to check with my mom and she said the scent I always remembered was Aramis.

  • My dad deserves this prize because he has always been my hero – he’s given up so much to take care of his family and also came to my rescue when I got into trouble. He works 3 jobs and saved every penny for the family. Hardworking man and deserves to be spoilt.

  • He’s signature cologne is TSAR and CKOne. I think of him whenever I come across these scents every till now.

  • Kevin Guevarra says:

My dad is very hardworking. 2 full time jobs to support the family. I remember being so happy when I actually had time to spend with him because he was always so busy. If someone gave him a cologne (since we couldn’t afford it back then), he would wear it sparingly ( I remember Givenchy) , but when he didn’t have any he would smell like Old Spice.

  • My bf deserves to win because he is one of the best fathers I know. He works hard, is always positive and loves to smell good. He’ll love Spirit of the Glen and I’ll love smelling him smelling good.

  • Pop always had some Armani aftershave. I used to watch him shave and learnt to take care of myself just the way he did. He deserves something nice.

  • My brother is a dad and a great one at it. He is always optimistic and is always there for his kids. He always changes his scent but most recently he’s into Spicebomb and it smells great. He deserves to win.

  • Dad deserves to win because he has the greatest stories ever. The whole family gets entranced whenever he shares his stories of his younger years.

Oh, by the way, he always smells like fresh citrus – a scent from Cartier I believe.
