FiFi Finalists: Countdown to the US Fifi Awards May 25, 2011+ DRAW

April 1, 2011April 2, 2011

Rochelle Bloom, President of The Fragrance Foundation is pleased to share the 2011 Top Ten FiFi® Finalists following the closing of the first-ever online voting procedure.  “Announcing the top ten finalists is exciting as now we can really say we are in FiFi® mode and look forward to the fun and anticipation at The FiFi® Finalists Breakfast on April 8th when it gets narrowed down to the top five,” commented Ms. Bloom.

“Making the change from paper ballots of previous years to online balloting has proven to be a great success.” added Mary Ellen Lapsansky, Vice President. “Being able to view all the beautiful visuals of exquisite bottles, innovative packaging, spectacular media campaigns in video and print brought The FiFi® voting process to life.”  Ms. Lapsansky was instrumental in ensuring the smooth transition from paper to online that took several months to set up.

Rochelle Bloom: Well, it’s nice to have choices and change up a fragrance favorite say, in the spring to a lighter version, but anyone who knows me knows that I urge the industry to think quality over quantity.  I much prefer brand building than just launching a fragrance every six months.

Congratulations on the nomination! I wish you luck 🙂
It has been a very bad year for mainstream fragrances, in my opinion. Well, I love Voyage and Paris, but the other nominees don't say nothing to me.

I am curious about a few of these I haven't tried:   By Kilian's Love & Tears, Surrender (jasmine soliflore), Le Labo for Anthropologie's Belle du Soir (floral musk), Boyfriend (fem-masculine blend)(I have a sample), and High Line (grassy summer floral). I liked Washington Square, disliked English Pear and Freesia, and was left unimpressed by quite a few ofthe others. Candide is pretty indeed and Honey Blossom is breathtaking!

    Ruth says:

Most of the fragrances mentioned are unknowns to me….shows how little time I spend in upscale department stores.
I was glad to see Voyage d'Hermes on the list for Women's Luxe—that'd get my vote
and two of my current favorite scents showed up in the Women's specialty luxe category! Balenciaga Paris and Kilian's Rose Oud….it'd be tough to choose a winner there.
It's very nice to see Mandy Aftel getting some recognition!  🙂

I see one of my favorites is on here, Aftelier Lumiere.   It is very hard to make a ocean smelling scent in natural perfume but somehow Mandy has figuired it out.  Simply beautiful.   Good Luck Mandy.

It's a shame there aren't more entries for some of the categories but at least there are some worthy entries amongst them.

    divinemama says:

It was a great year for perfume, especially for indie and natural perfumers.
    Congratulations to Aftelier!
I would have loved to see Laurie Erickson of Sonoma Scent Studio on the Indie list too.  Her Incense Pure was a beautiful addition to her wonderful line.

YOU MUST SUBMIT TO THE FOUNDATION 🙂 So next year….VIVA LEs INDIES. By the way Neil Morris Takashimaya was a nominee a few years ago, but did not reach finalist status.

Honey Blossom has intrigued me since I first read about it on Cafleurbon…it sounds so joyful, and certainly after this dreary winter the glimpses of joy are what keeps me going!  Congrats and good luck to Aftelier and Cafleurbon.  Please enter me in the draw 🙂

I'm so happy, well ecstatic really, to see Mandy getting some long overdue recognition!  Natural Perfumery was a lost and lonely art, and I can't think of anyone more deserving of awards!

I voted Cafleurebon as well.  Aftelier Perfumes, and Cafleurebon are both excellence in the perfume world!

I hope this is the start of more appreciation for natural and botanical perfumers.

    Good Luck to you all!!!
