Etat Libre D’Orange Une Amourette Roland Mouret (Roland Mouret, Etienne de Swardt and Daniela Andrier) 2017–New Fragrance

French fashion designer Roland Mouret and his CEO Mark Langthorne visited the Etat Libre d’Orange offices, just above the boutique at 69 rue des Archives, Paris about 8 years ago. They talked for hours about fashion and fragrance with creative director Etienne de Swardt. The timing was not right to begin the project then, but it was inevitable that they would work together. Etat Libre D’Orange launches it collaborative perfume, Une Amourette Roland Mourette.

“Roland drapes bodies — we drape skin. We use the same words: fusion, structure, magic, eroticism.  Etat Libre d’Orange and Roland Mouret. Together, we have merged our philosophies, our attitudes and our identities, and created Une Amourette.”— Etat Libre d’Orange

Une Amourette transcends gender. It is neither feminine nor masculine but it connects with the innate desire to take control, to be unique…  And when two bodies come together, the alchemy of skin on skin and scent on skin is unleashed, and the full power of the fragrance is revealed. — Roland Mouret

Once I had met Roland Mouret, I began to imagine a very sophisticated and dark perfume, black and red. Patchouli and Indole are the backbones in this woody/animal floral. The head notes are brightly opened with Neroli, while Resinoide Iris, Akigalawood and Resinoide Incense form the foundation of this story”.— Daniela Andrier, parfumer

Notes: Neroli, iris, vanilla absolute, akigalawood and resinoide incense

Note: I was a fashionista long before I was a perfumista. Roland Mouret’s iconic Galaxy dress has been on  my bucket list since I first saw it in 2006; the first  time  I heard of  the term “bodycon". Coincidentally it is same the year I met Etienne de Swardt.  FYI- Paris Fashion Week is September 26-October 3, 2017

  • Now we are talking. I have not been really excited about many new releases but when I see a new Etat coming I jump for joy. I am really looking forward to this one.

  • Vanessa Simon says:

Oh this sounds great vanilla and incense
Great dress never heard of the designer but it sounds like a fascinating perfume

  • I am hoping my local “Perfume House” in Porland OR gets this soon! This truly sounds like it will be a great scent. I looked up akigalawood since I am unfamiliar with that. I was pleasantly surprised to see it is related to Patchouli which I adore. In my novice opinion, it has been a really great year for niche fragrance. Thanks for keeping us readers up to date.

  • When I saw the title of this post I was so excited, an ELdO release is always full of promises. But in the end, it seems that Amourette is something you wear because it’s pretty, like a well designed dress. I expect much more from an ELdO perfume. Thanks for the review

  • “Languorous beauty” are the words that come to mind when I imagine Amourette, but perhaps there is more there than I would suppose from the notes. I hope one day to chance upon a tester bottle.

And I must share that I recently made acquaintance with a couple who named their daughter Amourette. Shocking or clever? I’m not certain, but a memorable choice in either case.

  • Beautiful description – ‘And when two bodies come together, the alchemy of skin on skin and scent on skin is unleashed, and the full power of the fragrance is revealed.’

I love dark and mysterious perfumes. The bottle looks too good.
This plays on my two favorite colors Black(mystery) and red (passion)

Will love to win this or try it.
