Nishane Istanbul at Esxence 2016 Photo  Darryl for CaFleureBon

When I was at Esxence the Scent of Excellence in Milan last month, one of the busiest booths was Nishane.  Nishane Istanbul was first presented at Esxence in  2015 is the first fine fragrance house from Istanbul Turkey.  Co-founders Murat Katran and S. Mert Guzel, (both born in Instanbul) established the first Istanbul based House in 2012. Turkey is the only country that literally bridges two worlds; Asia and Europe. Each of the inaugural 16 perfumes extraits represent a place, an ingredient, a continent, a country, a time in history Two new perfumes Fan Your Flames and Hundred Silent Ways have a different inspiration, the ecstatic poetry of Rumi, was a 13th-century Persian poet, jurist, Islamic scholar, theologian, and Sufi mystic who died in Konya Turkey December 17,1273

Fan Your Flames was one of my favorite fragrances from the show so I asked  Contributor Sebastian Jara of the YouTube Channel Looking Feeling Smelling Great, and founder of a popular Facebook Group  for his take on this wonderful new fragrance which evokes The Turkish Water Pipe known as Nargile ( Shisha,Hookah)

Notes: Coconut and Rum – TOP; Tobacco and Tonka – HEART; Oakmoss and Chinese cedar wood – BASE

  • I liked his description of this fragrance as an earthy dry coffee scent. also his description of this fragrance being delicious. Sebastian has never turned me away from liking a fragrance and I trust him on his review.

  • Sounds like an interesting fragrance. Sebastian Jara has always given life to perfumes with his words. I can almost smell the fragrance he’s reviewing just by watching his take on it.

  • Tim Lester says:

I liked how thoroughly Sebastian described this fragrance and his use of the word delicious to describe it. Like him, tobacco is one of my favorite notes and this fragrance sounds like one I’d love to try. I live in Kentucky, USA.

  • I was so surprised to hear that this smelled like Turkish coffee since there’s nothing coffee like in the notes. I actually really like coconut coffee, so I’m incredibly intrigued by this fragrance! Now I want to make coconut coffee with rum… thanks for this awesome draw! 🙂

  • I love earthy sweet tobacco fragrances with rum! Yum! I also love this line and the longevity on me is great! Thanks from the USA

  • Arsenios says:

I have been following Sebastian for a while now. He is really the one who got me involved with perfumery 🙂 love his passion and authenticity !!! As far as Nishane is concerned, I have not been able to try any of these amazing fragrances but the entire line seems absolutey fantastic. Fan your flames contains one of my favourite notes, Tobacco and knowing that Nishane is from Turkey, country of the infamous Turkish Tobacco, I am really certain that this will exceed my expectations 🙂 I live in Toronto, Canada and it would be nice to see Nishane Fragrances making their way here 🙂

    Thank you 🙂

  • Patrick Echevarria says:

Sebastian always piques my curiousity over fragrances he reviews that are not too mainstream. Earthy dry coffee seems right in my alley. Would love to rock it here in San Diego,CA

  • Eric meyers says:

Love tabacco type fragrances. And the way sebastian describes it you can almost see what he is talking about.

  • ntabassum92 says:

I love his description of drinking turkish coffee with cardamom and smoking cigarettes. I feel like I can literally smell all of those things and they would conjure up so many memories for me. I love the smell of hookah! – VA, U.S.A.

  • richarthk13 says:

I’m really intrigued by the fragrance starting from the names (love the fact that they’re based on two of Rumi quotes) all the way to the scents. I love coconut, tobacco, rum and wood notes so I’m really excited to find out exactly what it smells like. I love how Sebastian describes it as a mix between coffee and tobacco which is something that gets me even more excited.

  • Lellabelle says:

Love tobacco fragrances and the description of the coffee pairing sounds wonderful. Turkish coffee is delicious and I’d love to try this in the hopes of a similar experience. Please enter me for the draw. Canada / US please.

  • Paulie Peanuts says:

Soundsd like an interesting fragrance that I would be interested in. Sebastian is a stand up. Would love to try this one.

  • The way Sebastian describes fragrances is great. He breaks it down so that even relative newbies like myself can picture the fragrance. Its almost like after a review you wouldn’t be blind buying the fragrance even if you had never tried it:) Ive only ever sampled Passion Choco and it was great:) I live in the US

  • Hikmat Sher Afridi says:

Thank you very much for the generosity & giveaway. Wonderful review & well described as usual by Sebastian Jara.
Almost all the Nishane Istambul fragrances are on my wishlist and these two are the new addition in the list. Definitely will buy when my wallet is heavy. The notes are right up to my alley specially tobacco, oakmoss & cedar, so would like to participate in this gorgeous giveaway. Let me in please.

  • I enjoy Sebastian’s channel and reviews. He always provides a detailed in depth breakdown of the fragrance which is well respected in the fragrance community. I’m subscribed to his channel and belong to his Facebook group. I unfortunately don’t have a favorite as I haven’t had the privilege of trying any from the house., although fan your flanges sounds like it’s right up my alley. I’m located in Southern California (La Puente).

  • Lissette78 says:

Thank you Nishane Istanbul, Sebastian Jara and Cafleurebon for this amazing giveaway!
I love the way Sebastian always makes us want to try a new fragrance. This time is the wonderful Fan Your Flames. I haven’t had the pleasure to know the brand and I really want to give it a try,

    Good luck to all!

  • Nwananka says:

I live in Canada and new to the world of niche fragrances
I follow Sebastian on youtube and instagram to acquaint myself with this new world. I love his review of this fragrance because of how he lists the notes and tje evolution of the fragrance scent through different stages. He also does a hreay jon describing the inspiration behind the fragrance and a little bit of the house that creates it

  • Sebastian never fails to make a perfume come to life with his reviews – I can almost smell the fragrance as he describes it. I absolutely love Turkish coffee (I’m Turkish) but growing up in Dubai all my life I’ve smelled a lot of cardamom as well so I can guess that I would absolutely love this scent. I love the notes, the branding and the concept! Thanks for the giveaway – I live in Dubai, UAE.

  • I’m following Sebastian for longtime on Youtube, and always appreciated his natural way to describe perfumes… His reviews are very useful for a compulsive shopper like me… 😉
Earthy sweet tobacco + rum ? Turkish coffee with cardamom + smoking cigarettes? It sounds just great…

My fav of the line is Munegu.

I’m in the EU (France). Thanks for the draw!

  • lamonte nichols says:

Maryland. I really enjoyed Sebastian’s description of the notes but really like how he describes the smoking in the narguile shops with the coffee. Well done!

  • Sebastian videos as usual are great specially when trying to find out about new perfume houses and scents. I am really curious about the cardamom-coffee vibe of this tobacco scent that was described in the video. I would really love to experience this scent and get the bottle.
I live in Seattle, WA, USA

  • Sebastian smells a lot of fragrances and when he points out the quality as he did with Nishane it gets my attention. I haven’t tried anything from this house yet but keep hearing great things! Thank you for the opportunity! Good luck to everyone!

  • Wow! This fragrance sounds amazing!! It has all of my favourite notes in it! I love Sebastian’s reviews, they are always honest, on point and his descriptiond are always easy to imagine what the scent will smell like. I especially enjoyed when Sebastian mentions that it reminds him of a middle eastern coffee/shisha shop because coming from a middle eastern background myself I know exactly how those places smell like so I can totally relate to his wonderful review! The most part I think I would enjoy about this fragrance is the Cardamom with Turkish coffee part, I have always made this particular coffee for my parents who drink it and I have always loved the smell, it would definately be a nostalgic scent for me! Thanks for the wonderful giveaway!

  • I like how Sebastian said it reminded him of his parents cause of the coffee and tobacco. I used to be a smoker and girls have told me that even though they don’t like me smoking, the like the smell of tobacco that lingers. I’ve not had the pleasure of smelling any fragrances from from this house but I would definitely love to get my hands on these bottle. I’m from Singapore. Thanks for the chance Cafleurebon and Sebastian

  • I really enjoyed Sebastians video and the fact that he describes it as smelling like coffee and cardamom… I love those two scents! The fact that it is mixed with tobacco and coconut and that he describes it as woody and gourmand makes me even more curious about it. I would love to try this fragrance!

I have never tried any fragrances from Nishane, so if I win this will be my first.

I am living in Sweden and I am so happy that this giveaway is open for the entire world.

  • psebi101 says:

What woke my interest in Sebastian’s video is that he said the fragrance it’s a woody gourmand with a coffee note. I’ve never tried anything from this brand. I’m in the US.

  • Hi.
This sounds so good since ot sounds like a white tobacco scent. Which its my fav scent. Thanks from las vegas nevada

  • Great great review by Sebastian.
I am very proud of this brand since they are the first Niche brand from my home country. This fragrance sounds just like home. Smoking Nargile and having dark turkish coffee beside it…
Their ideas are amazing and explaining the culture of Turkey.

I am dying to try this fragrance. Even though giveaway won’t hit me, I will still get a sample of this for sure.

Thank for the giveaway as always.

  • Great review as always by Sebastian, I like his reviews because he doesn’t restrict him self to particular fragrances or houses.I like how he pick up notes and describe them and he always give away stuff
    Thank you

  • fazalcheema says:

I am intrigued by this because it is a gourmandish tobacco fragrance. Nishane has so far been hit with its releases which also adds to the suspense. In addition there are woody notes and this composition does seem unisex though more for the colder weather. My favorite Nishane Istanbul creation is Afrika Olifant, I am in the US

  • Amish shah says:

Wow another great review… This one sounds really exciting. Can’t wait to try it. Turkish coffee and tobacco sounds like a great combo. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!!

  • Sebastian channal is my favorite one, what a wondrful guy,
Nice to try this frag as I never tryed it before.
I live in IRAQ and and I have an US adress Houston, TX.

  • Merino-Teflon says:

I dug how he brought it back to his mother and father, smoking, cardamom and coffee. Some of the best scents really can drag £D internal polaroids to the fore, to wallow in and appreciate.

  • Merino-Teflon says:

Oops, No experience with Nishane yet, and from the UK, and 3D, not £D. My kingdom for an edit function 😉

  • another great review from Sebastian. I am intrigued by this because it is a gourmandish tobacco fragrance. I love tobacco fragrances and gourmand fragrances. My favorite Nishane Istanbul creation is spice bazaar
    I live in America

  • Rodney Q. Wallace says:

    Yet another awesome giveaway!
I really loved how Sebastian described the notes. One could almost smell the fragrance through his words. It’s hard to pick just one, but my “current” favorite Nishane fragrance is Spice Bazaar. I live in Raleigh, NC.
    Thank you!

  • Raico Mulet says:

Top notch review from sebastian very descriptive and informative , the notes of Fan your flame sound very interesting and o definitely would love to try this fragance. I live in Lake Worth, Fl

  • Great review,Sebastian always makes fragrances sound so appealing. I don’t have any fragrances from this house. I live in Chesapeake, Virginia USA

  • I admire the way Sebastian drives you in his memories, the way he takes you in his life experiences. I love tobacco fragrances, and reading the notes it seems also sweet and boozy, a must have! Unfortunately i’ve never smelled a Nishane fragrance, hope this will be the right time! I live in Italy.

  • I love the way Sebastian paints a picture when describing a fragrance. ‘Dry, earthy, coffee’ and ‘Turkish coffee shop’ really triggered my interest. I love tobacco as a note in frags, and coffee…..well I cannot go a day without coffee. The fact that Seb gets cardamom notes as well is just icing on the cake. I am a huge fan of La Nuit de l’homme(as is my wife) because of that cardamom note.

This is extremely generous And I would love to try some Nishane fragrances especially Fan Your Flames….it sounds like a home run was hit with this one.
I live on the East Coast of Canada and this sounds like it would be perfect to wear for those gold days to bring some warmth.

Thanks so much for the chance

  • Sebastian descriptions always bring the perfumes alive. Two of my favorite notes are coffee and tobacco so this perfume really intrigues me. Sebastian’s description of it reminding him of a Turkish coffee house really got me wanting to try this one as I’ve never tried anything from the house before. I live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, soon to be Houston, TX.

  • I’m excited about the coconut note in the mix. Also look forward to the sweet aspect. The videos remain a great way to learn about these new offerings. USA

  • Sergio Cardona says:

Great vídeo Sebastian, this house is surprising in the quality of raw materials and the care with the quality of its creator, so make available this new creation, I want to sample tobacco and rum, are notes which I love. Congratulations on your description.

  • I like to imagine Sebastian and his parents together, I love the smell and the taste of coffee with cardamom and I would love to get that bottle for my collection. :o)

    I live in USA

  • Sebastian has always been very articulate in giving his audience a clear and concise idea as to what they should expect from a fragrance. I have been able to imagine how a fragrance smells with his notes description and his references to different scenarios and have found upon smelling the actual fragrances that his findings have been true to form. This video has created interest and intrigue… the Hot coffee and Tobacco reference is really giving me the deepest of urges to smell this!! The smoky tobacco sounds like something I would actually ear and enjoy. Thank you Sebastian for another exciting video. I must thank the others involved who have arranged this very generous give away!

  • I am intrigued by This fragrance! Coffee and cardamom… I love those two scents! Great Review! Greetings From Brazil!

  • teresa310 says:

I love the vivid way of Sebastian describing the scent, I could almost smell the Turkish coffee, tobacco and sheesha. I am very courious about this perfume. Does it smell anything like my holiday in Turkey ten years ago?

I haven’t tried anything from Nishane so far. Fan Your Flames looks like a good start.

    (EU)

  • Scensodine says:

First of all thank you Nishane and Cafleurebon for this amazing giveaway!! I’m a erfume addict from the Netherlands and i have quite a long wishlist when it concerns Nishane. Vjola will be the first one to buy for sure!
About Sebastian’s review, what i like the most, is that Fan Your Flames brings up this beautiful memory. I really love when a fragrance does that. It makes it alive, memorable and unique. And as i have been to Istanbul with my elder sister in 2002 and we visited a Turkish carpet-shop. But it weren’t the carpets we smelled, it where the Turkish tea and coffee combined with the water-pipes that made us smile and the gentle warm invitation of an old man to join him for a cup (and more, LOL) I will never forget that moment and i hope this Nischane will make that memory even stronger when i wear it!
Now i don’t care that it smells rather masculine for i have masculine perfumes in my wardrobe already and honestly believe everything is unisex depending on skin-chemistry end your own nose ;-)!

    Good smelling regards!

  • Iuno Feronia says:

Sebastian’s Review Sounds very Good, very vivid, I felt like being on holidays, drinking turkish coffee, beside me someone is Smoking shisha.

Ooooh wouldn’t I love to win this. 🙂 I have only heard good things regarding this house but as of yet have not tried any. You can’t beat tobacco and rum. The audio description of these videos is always a plus. U.S.

  • Jawad Hindy says:

I love tobacco notes, can’t wait to try this one, great review sebastian, as always very accurate and very god discription of the perfume

  • Latifah S says:

Rum, tobacco, coconut… Need I say more. Sebastian’s review definitely made this fragrance sound appealing. I love in the US. Thanks

  • Diana Devlin says:

Ooh, this sounds so gorgeous! I don’t own any tobacco based scents. I love that it smells like coffee to you. It makes it seem like the scent is rich and full-bodied! I always enjoy Sebastian’s reviews. He makes me want to run out and buy them right away!
    I live in the U.S.

  • Mmmm, this sounds fantastic! I loved that Sebastian compared it to something from his own experience growing up. Scent is tied to memory and it’s always interesting to hear what smells trigger for other people. As a huge fan of Turkish coffee and shisha, this review totally sold me! I haven’t tried any Nishane Istambul fragrances, but I want to get my hands on Spice Bazaar. I live in Canada, thank you.

  • Paul M Prince says:

The list of notes on this could not be more up my alley. I’m a cedar and tobacco nut! I love the turkish coffee shop description of its aroma. Big fan of Sebastian and I hope I get my nose on this one shortly!

  • Sebastian was very thorough in explaining the notes of Fan Your Flames fragrance. He is one of the most liked reviewers of fragrances as you can really see the passion he has for fragrances in each of his reviews.
If I were to guess, I would not have guessed the name of this fragrance and notes would go together. Sebastian broke down the notes in this review in complete detail. I’m partial to several fragrances with a boozy note . I’m ooking forward to this great edtion to Nishane.

  • I am not usually a lover of gourmand fragrances, most I find too sweet to wear comfortably, but Sebastian’s description of Fan Your Flames as smelling like Turkish coffee with cardamom sounds delicious! I love dark slightly sweet Turkish coffee. The taste, the smell, everything about it, perhaps this is the gourmand for me. I’ve heard a lot of great things about Nishane fragrances but haven’t gotten around to trying any yet but this one sounds like the perfect choice to start with! Thank you for the chance. I am in the US.

  • I really enjoy tobacco fragrances, and that note, combined with the coffee and cardamom undertones sounds just wonderful. I’ve had the privilege of trying Munego, which I really enjoyed. Nishane is definitely a brand I’d like to continue to explore. I live in the US. Thanks for the draw.

  • Oh my heavens, that description of the coffee notes sounds marvelous. His video makes me hunger for a great new gourmand scent. Thanks for the draw! I’m in the EU.

  • misty_father says:

The notes listed sound great to me! Would love to smell this beacuse I trust in Sebastian’s opinions. I live in the EU.

  • Another great review from Sebastian! I love fragrances with a tobacco note in them and all things gourmand. Yes they can sometimes be a little masculine on a woman, but as Sebastian said it takes a strong woman with a good nose to wear it. Here I am….lol! I love turkish coffee and turkish delight. I live in the US and thanks for the draw! 🙂

  • Sebastian is very good at clearly reviewing a perfume and giving a sense of how it smells. This sounds like a wonderful tobacco and I love turkish coffee! I live in the USA

  • I have never tried a perfume from this house but this one seems interesting, in fact, any fragrance with tobaco appeals me but the fact it has been inspired in Rumi poems … it can be a marketing strategy or simply because the creators are lovers of Rumi sufi poems and got inspiration from the beauty you can find in his poems , then I am sure I would like to try this one.
    I’m in EU.

  • I have been following Seb for quite sometime now and i enjoy the fact that he breaks down each perfume with simplicity. I love the fact that this is described as a cardamom coffee like smell as I do enjoy the mix quite a lot on my mornings whenever i am about to head out for work! Another lovely release from this house is Spice Bazaar which is in my steady rotation! Good luck to everyone!

  • afrigrance says:

Growing up, two of my absolute favourite smells were flavoured narguile smoke and strong, sweet Arabic (or Turkish) coffee. So hearing Sebastian describe this fragrance got me very excited – it sounds like something that would be very evocative of some of my formative years.

Being all the way down in South Africa, I haven’t been able to get my nose on many Nishane scents, but I had a brief sniff of Afrika Olifant and I was very impressed!

  • Sounds like a very good fragrance. Great review! The coconut and rum opening sounds delicious. I haven’t tried a Nishane fragrance yet, but I’ve heard a lot about them. I’m in Canada and thanks for the draw.

  • kouros94 says:

Tobacco and coffee are notes I don’t explore much, a quick look through my collection and apart from a few samples, my wardrobe is tobacco and coffee free! Sebastian’s reviews are always to the point yet convey the essence of the fragrance to the viewer. I have yet to try any of Nishane’s line, but would love to win this fragrance. I live in the EU.

  • WaltherP99 says:

Sounds GREAT with rom coconut, rome ,tobacco and some oud notes.
I’m watching Sebastian’s videos for a few years now-since late 2013 when he was known as “Sebastian from “Man Loves Colognes” .
Pasion Choco is what i got from Nishane and i love it.To me it’s one of best , if not the best fruity/gourmand out there.

    Thanks!

  • echinacea says:

I like Sebastian’s reviews because they are so informative and reliable, sound nothing like self-promoting chit-chat which is so common on youtube 😉

I love rum and coconut, but never found them both in perfume so far. I’m dying to try this scent! Never tested anything from Nishane yet.

    I am from the EU.

  • openmind says:

I really like the description of this fragrance. I love gourmands and a fragrance that starts with coconut and at the heart has tobacco…. I need to smell this.

  • vladomsc says:

He did not mention if you can actually smell the coconut, which would be wonderful, but aparantly there is loads of tobacco. I am sure I would love this fragrance. Have not tried any of the Nishane fragrances, but Sebastian did a great jon of describing this one so I feel like I now how it smells. I live in Dublin, Ireland.
