ÇaFleureBon Top Ten Winter Fragrances 2017 + Cold Weather Blues Draw

The Editors and Contributors of ÇaFleureBon are all over the map when it comes to winter. Milan and NYC have the same exact temperature today (45 F) but its freezing cold in Arkansas. No matter, we still get the winter blues. These are the top ten fragrances we love for winter that chase them  blues away.

Ice Storm (Photo by Gail)

Baby, it's cold outside – and wet and very windy.  As I write these words the temperature is 33 degrees F and it is raining here in the Pacific Northwest.  I have to walk the dog and I know my bumbershoot will be useless in this storm. Here are a couple of fragrances that I trust to will warm me up when I step in from the foul weather:

Dusita Oudh Infini – Pissara Umavijani

Oudh Infini is my winter rose.  When I wear it I see, my mind's eye, a single deep red rose dusted with snow and am overtaken by memories of the smoky air of Tehran, the scent of oud, roses, petrol and something phenolic.  2016 Oudh Inifini begins cool, like my chilled rose, but gradually warms to orange blossom and benzoin with just a bit of barnyard and animalic civet. This beauty becomes downright cozy as a rich combination of vanilla and musk gradually takes effect. Like every Dusita creation, Oud Infini lasts for many hours and the sillage is generous and enveloping.  The progression of the scent is not unlike stepping from the cold and snow into the warmth of home. Oudh Infini prompts another memory, a vignette from my days in Tehran.  I remember a young man in a black leather jacket – on a moped – weaving in and out of traffic, through the icy streets and up onto a snow covered sidewalk.  He had a smile on his face and a bright red rose between his teeth.  Oudh Inifini is romantic and lighthearted but with an amazing depth and an unmistakable sense of the rich, vibrant joy of life.

Basile by Basile: It is time to snuggle up and dry out near a warm fire.  It is also time for couple of generous blasts of one of my favorite spicy oriental fragrances – vintage Basile by Basile.  I much prefer this Italian mass-market beauty to the more popular (and more expensive) YSL Opium. The Basile I love is the EdP from the 1980s. This deep amber colored jus resides in a narrow, angular bottle adorned with geometric, black plastic "shoulder pads" – so 80s! As far as I know the newer version of Basile is only available as EdT. While very similar to the original, the reformulation is missing the shoulder pads and skimps a little on the rich clove, golden ylang-ylang and intense tangerine that are so generously supplied in the earlier version.  The floral heart, a warm, tawny iris and rose, is much the same in both versions and the ambery base remains rich in oakmoss, sandalwood and patchouli. The sillage is moderate and the fragrance lasts for 8 hours or more. If you can't find or don't want to pay for vintage, the reformulation is a bargain at $25 or less for 100 ml. –Gail Gross, Sr. Contributor

Café Noir, DSH Perfumes by Dawn Spencer-Hurwitz

I admit it: I’m mad about the bean: the bitter, round, bracing taste of the roast, the morning ritual of heating and pouring the water in my old school Chemex, the comforting sound of its raindrop drip, and the vaporous, bitter chocolate aroma while it brews. I love coffee so much I could wrap myself in it. Which is exactly what Dawn Spencer Hurwitz’s delicious allows me to do. I have tried nearly every coffee perfume on the market but always return to 2011's Café Noir. This is at once the most realistic cup of joe in an EDP I've found, but it also has just enough abstraction to avoid smelling like a spilled Americano. With its deft use of a lovely chocolate-woody patchouli and beautiful floral notes that percolate down into the perfume’s heart, Café Noir is elegant and luscious. Wearing it is the closest I can get to nursing a noisette in a Paris brulerie on a chilly day in DC.

02 Coze, Parfumerie Generale by Pierre Guillaume

Coze (2002)  is one of the perfumes I look forward to most when the temperature drops since it genuinely makes me feel a few degrees warmer when I wear it. Pierre Guillaume’s hot-blooded spice, chocolate and hemp concoction is quirky, dark and piquant, and downright toasty. With roasty notes of pimento and pepper combined with cocoa and an unabashed green hemp note, wearing Coze is like hanging out in a hippie-chic café that plays Ali Farka Toure on the sound system and serves spiced Mexican coffee while the cook has a toke. It is comforting, provoking, delicious. Just the perfume to huddle up to in a blizzard.–Lauryn Beer, Editor

Caron Poivre by Michel Morsetti and Solstice Scents Estate Carnation by Angela St. John

I love everything about Winter; the cold, the introspection…and of course, the perfumes.  Most of my fragrances are best worn in this, my favorite season, but the urn fragrance Poivre (Michel Morsetti for Caron) is the one I reach for most frequently. Crackling with pepper and carnation, Poivre’s warm, spicy glow will get you through the worst Old Man Winter can throw at you. Counteracting Polar Vortices since 1954.

I loved Solstice Scents Estate Carnation by Angela St. John in May and couldn’t wait to wear it come Winter. The sweet vanilla, smoky incense and spicy carnation are tailor made to turn frigid days in to smoldering hot nights. –Tammy Schuster, Sr. Contributor

Maison Francis Kurkdjian Grand Soir, Francis Kurkdjian

Just in time for the cooler weather is this terrific Amber-centric edp from Maison Francis Kurkdjian. Slightly reminiscent of both Ambre Fétiché by Goutal and Ambra Di Luna by Monegal, Grand Soir loses the incense in Fétiché and the animalic note in Luna in favor of something that feels quite gourmand. Almost as if you are looking out of a window in Paris, the dusk and rainy winter weather creating beautiful light on the street below, reflections from the neon sign of the Tabac across the street and the soft light of the Cafe from the bottom floor of your building. —Robert Herrmann, Contributor

Ermano by Ermano

Serge Lutens Miel de Bois

Winter is my least favourite season and aside for the holidays, I wish I could skip it as I hate cold.  The weather can be freezing cold in Milan, so I can't help but long for opulent ambers, warm spices or waxed woods. I really enjoy Serge Lutens Miel de Bois. More than a honey potion, as a friend of mine describes it, it's the smell of old waxed solid wood furniture and on my skin you can even get hints of the angora black cat that market his territory on that and now meows by the fireplace for some cuddles. Somehow it gives me comfort, but also shelter with its paws.-Ermano Picco, Contributor

Histoires de Parfums-1740 Gérald Ghislain

This 2008 creation by house founder Gérald Ghislain and Sylvie Jourde is the pinnacle of my favorite fragrances from the house, and just so happens to be a winter favorite of mine too.  A.k.a. Marquis de Sade,(the year of his birth) draws you into its clutches in the most subversive yet refined and classy sort of ways. It goes on almost medicinal, but alluring.  In a matter of a few minutes this aspect leaves and we are basking in the unique scent of davana mingled with powdery aspects and spices (cardamon, coriander, possible cumin) and leather.  Immortelle adds its charms firmly in the grasp of light cedar and a very dark patchouli kissed with a sweet and sexy lipped vanilla- all of which makes for a finish that’s unforgettable; leaving me begging, even pleading for more.  Good thing is it doesn’t let you forget it, as it lingers forever on both skin and fabric. It is most certainly a welcomed addition to my winter coat and scarf– Aaron Potterman, Contributor

Parfums DelRae Bois de Paradis by DelRae Roth and Michel Roudnitska

Winter in NYC has been unseasonably mild; we all panicked when we had 6 inches of snow for a day. Mostly it has been cool and feels like fall, so I reach for a fragrance that is perfect for both sweater and snowsuit weather.  It wasn’t an apple that tempted Adam; it probably was Eve’s scent. And she would smell like DelRae Roth and Michel Roudnitska’s frankly sensual and intriguing perfume for Parfums Delrae.  Bois de Paradis, (which is one of the top ten perfumes I own since I bought it in 2002), a warm blend of woods, blackberry, fig, rose, amber, and spices that undulate like a snake, beckoning you to abandon all thoughts of heaven and flee into the wilderness; who wants to smell like a fig leaf, when you can smell like paradise?- Michelyn Camen, Editor in Chief

  • I love winter because it is easier to get warm when you’re cold than it is to get cool when you’re warm. And I adore Christmas!!! I love Lauryn’s description of Coze: “…wearing Coze is like hanging out in a hippie-chic café that plays Ali Farka Toure on the sound system and serves spiced Mexican coffee while the cook has a toke.”

    I’d love to win:
    02 Cozé Parfumerie Générale
    Parfums Dusita Oud Infini
    Histoires de Parfums 1740

Thank you for the draw! I live in the EU.

  • Love winter, hate summer. I do get the blues. I have always wanted to try Poivre and Bois de Paradis. Love this" spices that undulates like a snake, beckoning you to abandon all thoughts of heaven and flee into the wilderness; who wants to smell like a fig leaf , when you can smell like this" Coze sounds wonderful too, although I had to google Ali Farka Toure. I own 1740 and agree this is the best HdP. For the win Coze, Bois de Paradis, Poivre, Parfums dusita oudh infini, the winter rose!  USA (Minnesota where it is a balmy36)

  • I love winter, especially bright snowy nights, Christmas, the smell of fresh snow. Patchouli and peppery fragrances are what I like best at this time of the year.
I’d like to win DSH Cafe Noir, Parfumerie Generale Coze or Histoires de Parfums 1740. I live in Europe, thanks!

  • GrandmaGaga says:

I love, love, love winter simply because it is not summer here in the desert southwestern US. I loved reading these reviews, pretending that I’m snuggling in when I’m really lounging around in my Bermudas! The two I think I would most enjoy winning would be the Histoires de Parfums 1740 and the Bois de Paradis. I am in the US and, as always, thank you for the chance!

  • I like winters with lots of snow. Unfortunately we’ve mostly had ice this year. I like rose perfumes around this time of year so Oud Infini sounds like the one I’d like to win or DSH Cafe Noir or Histories de Parfums 1740. The Histories de Parfums is the only one I’ve tried and have been thinking about buying a full bottle.

  • When I was a kid and lived in a neighborhood full of wonderful and wild and crazy kids, winter was great great fun! Now the older I get, the less I like it. I want to be out and about in the warmth year-round. I am surprised but I have not tried any of the top ten fragrances. I have heard great things about Dusita, so my first choice would be Parfums Dusita Oud Infini, then Parfums DelRae Bois de Paradis or 02 Cozé Parfumerie Générale. I live in the USA.

  • oh YESSSSS – I lOVE winter – but I am also here in NYC, and what is this? This flaccid nothing? I’m looking at the weather forecast on my phone, looking ahead to next week, and all I see are late autumn temperatures. What the HELL! Perfume-wise, I’m definitely an autumn/winter. I love gourmands – chocolate, vanilla, coffee notes are amongst my favorites. I love incense, smoke, woods. Cozy, comforting smells invoking Halloween and Christmas….the delight of being safe inside as nature rages outside.
Of the Top Ten here, I have sampled Estate Carnation and Marquis de Sade. They are lovely but not true “winters” for me. Coze sounds amazing – that and Oud Infini would be my picks from the offerings of the draw. Thanks!

  • Winter is my least favorite season. I hate being cold. Living in the Pacific Northwest, it gets dark at 4PM, severely limiting what can be done outside. We just had weeks of bitterly cold weather followed by torrential rains. I’m looking forward to spring! My favorites (at least in theory, given that I haven’t tried them all) and my ranked choices in the draw would be, in order, #1 Dusita Oud Infini; #2 Parfums DelRae Bois de Paradis; #3 Histoires de Parfums 1740; #4 Caron Poivre; #5 Coze. I am in the USA.

  • I enjoy mild winter days and an occasional visit to a snowy clime. In younger days I loved to snow ski and ice skate. But living snowbound for months at a time is difficult. I’m enchanted by Gail’s description of Basile – must try it – and also by Robert’s words about Grand Soir which I was fortunate to sample. I agree Grand Soir is perfect for a winter evening in Paris. I am in the US and would be thrilled to experience Oudh Infini or Caron Poivre, both sound like elixirs to warm the soul.

  • Elizabeth T. says:

I love winter! But if it’s going to be cold it may as well snow, and we haven’t had nearly enough this year. I love the oldies but goodies on this list. I pulled out my sample of Miel de Bois only yesterday. Goodie indeed! I’m in the USA, and would really like to smell Cafe Noir! I am a huge fan of every Parfums Delrae I’ve smelled, too, but haven’t sniffed Bois de Paradis… I sure would love to. Thanks for the warming article!

  • When I read about Northern hemisphere winters I feel lucky I am not there! I live in Australia and hate the bitter cold, although I really like the turning of the seasons. Of all these fragrances I have only tried Grand Soir, really pretty. I would love to try Dusita Oud Infini if I should win. Thanks for the draw.

  • BostonScentGuy says:

I like winter in the mid-Atlantic…enough cold spots to give you a sense of seasonal change without the neverending snow and bitter cold assaulting, say, the Great Lakes, some parts of the Midwest, etc. Been in Boston for two years, but neither winter (knock on wood) has been particularly colder than down in NJ/PA! It is one of my favorite fragrance seasons. While I wasn’t familiar with some of the above, I really do love the choices I know. Poivre is always a pleasure–that gorgeous, weird, medicinal floral clove is quite arresting. Grand Soir became a winter easy-to-wear favorite, and Coze is a cozy scent that always makes me wish I was near a fire. Miel de Bois–I like this one, but have forgotten how it smells since it was moved to the bell jars! Thanks so much for the draw. If I won, I’d be thrilled to win Oudh Infini, Coze, or Bois de Paradis. I’m in the US!

  • Love winter! The beginning of winter is my favorite- the chilly crisp air, holiday lights going up, cocoa by the fireplace, busting out fuzzy socks. It’s been raining a lot lately and it oddly makes me so happy. Here in CA our winters are very mild (never any snow in my area), and rain is pretty much the extent of winter weather for us. My favorite from the top ten list is Estate Carnation, as it’s the only one I’ve tried. What a gorgeous fragrance! From the draw, Bois de Paradis because I just adore figs and berries. In the US

  • marcopietro says:

I love Winter, I love that feeling of suspended time typical of fairy tales.
I am always enchanted by the slender crystals designed by hoarfrost on twigs and cobwebs. Furthermore the snow is absolutely the natural phenomenon which I prefer.
Among the ten fragrances of your list Bois de Paradise has intrigued me immensely, but I live in EU and my choices for the draw would be Parfums Dusita Oud Infini or 02 Cozé Parfumerie Générale.
    Thanks for the chance!

  • Winter! I love it; hot coffee, warm blankets, watching snow falling! It’s my favorite season and perfume wise it allows me to wear my heavy hitters. Love Oud Infini from the top 10 and should I win I would love a bottle of Oud Infini to warm up the remaining cold days! I live in Spain, EU.

  • Iuno Feronia says:

Winter is not bad as Long as it is cold, snowy, sunny. I don’t like the Grey, cold, windy winterdays in town, now snow and no clear air. My winter perfumes are warm heavy scents.

thanks for the draw, I liev int he EU and my choice would be:

Parfums Dusita 50 ml Oud Infini extrait
Histoires de Parfums 1740 2.5 oz
02 Cozé Parfumerie Générale 30 ml
DSH Perfumes 3 ml spray of Café Noir

Best regards from a sunny but really cold Austrian capital!

  • Where I live, we’ve got at least 2-3 months of winder. It’s fine the first month and I like it more if it snows, but after that I kinda wish spring will come; like now, I’m tired of cold days and wish for spring.
Unfortunately I haven’t smell even one of your top ten list and from the ones included in the draw, what appeals the most, by far, is Oud Infinity. I live in Europe.

  • fazalcheema says:

When it is too cold, I miss summer and when it is too hot, I miss winter. But I would still prefer to live in a city that experiences all four seasons because there is a certain beauty in variety. Isn’t this also the reason we became perfumistas 🙂 My favorite from the top ten is Oudh Infini while I also love Bois de Paradis of whom I have two bottles. My choices from this draw are:

    Dusita Oudh Infini
    Histoires de Parfums 1740

    I am in the US.

  • I hate winter, because in my country in winter is very cold and have very little snow, almost nothing. So there is nothing enjoyable for the winter. So many fire wood need to make warm the houses, and it is expensive.
I have not tried any fragrance from the list, but all are sounds wonderful. If I would be as lucky to win, my choices:
    – Parfums Dusita 50 ml Oud Infini extrait
    – Histoires de Parfums 1740 2.5 oz
    – 02 Cozé Parfumerie Générale 30 ml
    – DSH Perfumes 3 ml spray of Café Noir
Thank you very much for the chance. I live in Europe.

  • What a great top ten including current and old favorites
I am not a fan of miel du bois it just doesn’t work for me
It’s crazy cold in the PNW and I think someone else mentioned we never get so much sleet snow and freezing weather
Oudh infini gets so much praise and I haven’t worn Bois de Paradis in a few years those are my choices
Oh and Poivre really love Caron
    Winter go away

  • I love living in an area with 4 distinct seasons and that includes a definable winter. I’m not familiar with any of the fragrances in your list, so based on what I read should I win:
    1. 02 Cozé Parfumerie Générale 30 ml
    2. Histoires de Parfums 1740 2.5 oz
    U.S.A.

  • Hikmat Sher Afridi says:

All four seasons are great but I prefer winter. The falling snow and freezing cold temperatures, usually exacerbated by strong winds and hibernation with coffee & wearing dark, potent perfumes is mesmerizing. Nice top Ten picks for this winter and my favorites from the top ten fragrances list are: Dusita Oudh Infini, Histoires de Parfums 1740 and DSH Perfumes Cafe Noir.
Thanks for the draw & opportunity to participate. My choices are:
    1) Dusita Oudh Infini
    2) Histoires de Parfums 1740
    Peshawar, Pakistan

  • Winter is my favorite season by far! At least a proper winter with sub-zero temps and snow is… It is so beautiful that I exist in a perpetual state of awe! There are some great choices on this list. My favorite of the list is 1740, which is pretty great all the time, but rather perfect for winter.

If I were to be lucky enough to win, these would be my choices:

    1. Histoires de Parfums 1740
    2. Dusita Oudh Infini
    3. DSH Cafe Noir

I’m in the EU, Finland to be exact.

  • These are always fun to read, the writers of CaFleurebon all in one post. I agree with Tammy about enjoying winter, but the everlasting gray skies sap my will by Feb. Gail’s description of Oud Infini is irresistible esp the young man with the rose in his teeth! Lauryn’s description of Coze is spot on. Thanks to all for the evocative reviews, generous opportunities and wonderful art. My choices are:
    Oud Infini
    Bois de Paradis
    Coze
    Histoires de Parfums 1740
    DSH Cafe Noir.
    US

  • I dislike winter – the cold, snow etc…

Histoires de Parfums 1740 2.5 oz
02 Cozé Parfumerie Générale 30 ml
Parfums Dusita 50 ml Oud Infini extrait
DSH Perfumes 3 ml spray of Café Noir

Thanks for the chance, hello from Canada.

  • I love winter. I love the cold (although this year it’s more like cold spring days so far). I love the beautiful sunsets you see this time of year, especially looking through trees. Makes for some beautiful skies. Perfumes can also be worn during the winter that are very scrumptious, warming. However, come end of Feb or beginning of March, I am ready for the spring. My faves on this list are: Dusita Oudh Infini, Maison Francis Kurkdjian Grand Soir, Caron Poivre & Parfums DelRae Bois de Paradis. My choices if I’m a lucky winner are:

    Parfums DelRae Bois de Paradis
    Caron Poivre
Parfums Dusita 50 ml Oud Infini extrait

I’m registered & in the US.

Thank you and enjoy the rest of the winter season!

  • Winter is my favourite time of year.I love to tuck up with a nice hot coffee,so Café Noir is my favourite fragrance.

  • Living in the South of the US, this may sound odd, but I love the Winter. It’s big reprieve from the sizzling hot days of summer that can get a little brutal. It’s also the time of year I get to wear my favorite fragrances, as my tastes are drawn to the dark, sweet and mysterious. Of the scents mentioned, I’ve only tried 02 Coze, and I really liked it! I love all things chocolate.

For the draw, I’m very interested in:
02 Cozé Parfumerie Générale 30 ml
Parfums Dusita 50 ml Oud Infini extrait
Histoires de Parfums 1740 2.5 oz

I live in the USA. Thanks for the fun draw!

  • Winter is very brief and mild where I currently live. I like snow and cold for about two days and then I’m happy with just chillier temperatures. Of the ten, I cannot comment as I’ve only worn Estate Carnation which I think is amazing. I’d like to win: Bois de Paradis, Poivre, Histoire de Parfum 1740. Thanks for the draw. I live in the USA

  • I love all the seasons. I think the contrast they provide connects me to the rhythms of the earth. But I’m grateful that winter in West is blessed with abundant sunshine. Long dark, nights and short cloudy days can get you down. I’m in the US and would love to experience:

First Choice: 02 Cozé Parfumerie Générale 30 ml
Second Choice: Parfums Dusita 50 ml Oud Infini extrait
Third Choice: Histoires de Parfums 1740

  • BethMongold says:

I love winter until about mid-January. I love being warm inside, cuddling and sipping wine. I love snow for Christmas. I love the silence and stillness of winter. For the top 10, my favorites are Coze and Oudh Infini.

For the draw, I would love to win either of those!:
1st: Parfums Dusita 50 ml Oud Infini extrait
    2nd: 02 Cozé Parfumerie Générale 30 ml

I live in Longmont, Colorado–USA. Thank you!

  • I love winter holidays, decorations, traditions, cuddling up under blankets and snow! I haven’t tried any perfumes on the list but all sound great!
    My picks would be:
    Cozé Parfumerie Generale
    Parfums Dusita Oud Infini
    Histoires de Parfums 1740

Yhank you for the draw! (EU)

  • I do not enjoy Winter- what can I say….I kinda shrink…I love nature tho’ and really appreciate the process of the winter in relation to this. I also adore the South and North poles so I must be a bit bi-polar in my tastes here. However its the wildlife I enjoy at the poles, not the temperature.:) But a great perfumes makes everything look ‘rosy’
    My favs would be:
DSH Perfumes 3 ml spray of Café Noir
Parfums Dusita 50 ml Oud Infini extrait
02 Cozé Parfumerie Générale 30 ml
Histoires de Parfums 1740 2.5 oz

I would want to win all of them as well.
    I’m registered and in NZ
    Thanks for this wonderful draw.

  • I absolutely hate winter!! But I love snow as long as it’s only for a few days and the sun comes out! Do I ask for too much?

    Histoires de Parfums 1740
    02 Cozé Parfumerie Générale l
    Parfums Dusita Oud Infini extrait
    DSH Perfumes Café Noir

  • doveskylark says:

Winter can be brutally cold in the Berkshires of Massachusetts where I live. I like that I am strong enough to deal with it. I like the smell and the silence of snow fall.
If I were to win, I’d choose:
    Coze by Parfunerie Générale
    Parfums Dusita Oud Infini
    Histoires de Parfums 1740
    I live in the USA.

  • Winter is awesome. The cold and the snow….especially I love the deafening silence of a field covered in snow, like a blank canvas getting ready to be painted.

    I’d love to win:
    Parfums Dusita Oud Infini
    Coze by Parfunerie Générale

    Thanks! I live in EU

  • I love winter, especially when the temperatures are very low and there is sun (as for now in Paris since a few days !). However I quite dislike rain, except in the summer…

I know 1740 (which I own and love) and I’ve already tried the beautiful Oudh Infini, without buying it (a bit too expensive for me !). I don’t know the others described in the review ;-(

So if I were to win, I’d choose:
    1. the gorgeous Dusita Oudh Infini
    2. the still unknown Parfumerie Générale Cozé
    3. the well-known Histoires de Parfums 1740, again…

I live in EU. Many thanks for the draw

  • I dont like winter very much cause of our continental climate with long cold winters (although they are much milder in latest years). I feel very cold. I love just fresh snow for a while , its sound when you walk on it… and winter landscapes:) Cozé 02 and DSH Café Noir are my fav from your top 10 winter scents. I am in EU. I would like to win one of:

    Parfums Dusita Oud Infini
    Histoires de Parfums 1740
    Coze by Parfunerie Générale
    DSH Cafe Noir

  • I like winter when it snows, but here are heavy and short snowing periods that are followed by a very cold weather that turns everything to ice and that is the part I dislike about winter: hard snow, lots of ice, north-pole like air and wind.

For this kind of weather, I feel like Oud Infini or Coze could warm me a little, therefore these are my choices. I live in EU. Thanks!

  • I love snow. It’s so beautiful and incredible, of course I prefer not to have to drive in it haha! I love the sound of the wind, walking in snow at night in just puffy giant slippers [that go up your ankle], I love how snow sounds when you walk in it. I’m a big winter person. I think rose scents are great for winter.

I have some heavy roses but have not tried the Oudh one mentioned. I always smell chocolate notes in perfumes as coffee, weirdly! I have to try the Cafe Noir scent. Of course I am a huge fan of Pierre G., and have traveled to try his work [and that of Francis K.], but I worry about the hemp and cocoa notes.

I have Caron on my list to buy a bunch of samples from. And how neat to see Solstice scents on here!! Love it. I like their Foxcroft myself. I want to try the Serge, but the honey makes me hesitate. I just tried a honey rose, actually, by an indie.

I would love to try the Caron Poivre or Cafe noir [I do love coffee]. I’m in the USA.

  • I love winter landscapes. As long as there is enough snow, which doesn’t happen every winter, I consider this season nice and happy. I have my own set of best winter fragrances: Byredo Seven Veils, Guerlain Shalimar, some heavy oud oils… Maison Francis Kurkdjian Grand Soir and Dusita Oudh Infini also sound great!

My choice would be Dusita Oudh Infini, 02 Cozé Parfumerie Générale or Histoires de Parfums 1740. Thanks for the draw. EU.

  • I used to hate winter, but lately I’ve kind of come around, maybe because I finally got a proper winter coat for the first time and can actually enjoy walking around in the snow without being painfully cold!! Plus all the good holidays are in winter, all the food I like is more winter-appropriate than summer (stews, baked goods, hot chocolate!!) and I feel like I have more choice when it comes to clothes and perfumes. Very interesting list! I have to admit I have not tried any, but Caron Poivre and Grand Soir sound the most tempting to me. If I won my choice would be the Dusita. I live in (cold, wintery) Canada!

  • During winter I often dream of spring and summer, but I would be unfair saying I don’t like winter too. It smells fresh, crispy and powdery and snow looks gorgeous in the sun.

I have tried 02 Coze and Miel de Bois and they are both very interesting choices! BTW is Miel de Bois still available?

I’d like to win Cafe Noir, 02 Coze or Oudh Infini. I live in Europe, thanks!

  • cardinalmind says:

I think I would hate winter! I haven’t experienced it since I live in the Philippines but hearing stuff from relatives that you have to wear multiple layers of clothing, use grovel to push yourself out the house, dangerous roads and sidewalks due to the snow makes me wary of winter.

My favorite in your top ten list is MFK’s Grand Soir. I’d like to win
Histoires de Parfums 1740 2.5 oz
02 Cozé Parfumerie Générale 30 ml
Parfums Dusita 50 ml Oud Infini extrait

  • I like the cold not the slush here in Chicago
It gets freezing. I like the selections because they are so diverse
I didn’t know Poivre was still around and I adore Caron
My choices based on the descriptions
    Caron Poivre
    Dusita oud infini
    Cafe noir
    Coze
    Bois de Paradis
    Hdp 1740

  • I always long for the summer, whatever season we are in! That doesn’t mean I hate winter, it’s just not my favorite season. But sometimes when it snowed and everything seems serene and the sounds are muffled by the snow I love it.
From the description I think Dusita Oud Infini would be my favorite! Thwt would be my choice if I’m so lucky to win. I live in EU.

  • I love the changing of the seasons, the cozy scents of winter and the excuse to snuggle up under a blanket with a book and a cup of tea. However, I could do without the months and months of darkness we get here in Sweden…

Oudh Infini is at the top of my wishlist! Thanks for the draw.

  • Roger Engelhardt says:

I love winter. I was born in the winter, January 29 to be exact.
I want to die in the winter. The wolf is my brother and a full moon on a cold and snowy night makes me happy!
I have sampled most of the above and Oudh Infini moves me to majestic place, plus Pissara is a facebook friend!!
    Peace and love to all!!

  • I love wearing the rich winter perfumes in winter I can’t wear in summer. And in winter there are no bugs being attracted to the scent. 🙂 u.s.a.

    my choices:

    Dusita Oudh Infini
    PG Coze
    DSH Cafe Noir
    HdP 1740
    Caron Poivre

  • I like winter, but sometimes winter blues strikes and I can’t wait to see first signs of spring. What helps me is a good spicy and warm fragrance, like Lutens Ambre Sultan or some mainstream sticky sweet perfume in a pink bottle 🙂

I’d like to win 02 Cozé Parfumerie Générale, Parfums Dusita Oud Infini or Histoires de Parfums 1740. I live in the EU, thanks!

  • This is the first time in years tht we actually have a winter here in So Cal. It is been raining a lot and temperatures dropped a bit. Which I like because this not happens every year. So I’ll enjoy it while it lasts.
I see that Oud Infini shows everywhere. From best ofs to this top ten winter list.
Also Grand Soir sounds awesome. I tried and liked Coze in the past.
I live in the US and my picks are:

    Dusita Oudh Infini (of course)
    PG Coze
    DHS Cafe Noir
    Caron Poivre.

    Thanks

  • Love the winter when the snow first falls and all is clean and white. Not the cold, when it is icy. Very nice list 02 Cozé Parfumerie Générale, Parfums Dusita Oud Infini, DSH cafe noir or Histoires de Parfums 1740 From your list I do love Serge Lutens miel du bois and hope to try any one of these

  • I like the winter and the cold. I like the hearty feeling of warm soup after being outdoors in the chill.

I live in Europe and my choices would be:
    Histoires de Parfums 1740
    Parfumerie Générale Сoze
    Parfums Dusita Oud Infini

    Thank you!

  • There are many things I like about winter. Christmas and happy memories of spending holiday time with my family are the most important of them. What I don’t like is when it gets too cold and slipppery and sport activities outdoors become risky and unpleasant.

My best comforting winter scent is vanilla in all its forms.

Thank you for the draw. I would be happy to win 02 Coze PG or Oudh Infini Dusita of Cafe Noir DSH.

    (EU)

  • Winter is my favourite season. I love everything about it, the cold ,the snow, the holidays.
From your top ten list I’ve only tried HdP 1740.
I would be happy to win: Dusita Parfums Oudh Infini, or PG 02 Coze or HdP 1740.
    I live in Europe.
Thank you for the lovely draw.

  • I love watching snow fall and holidays! I find cold weather makes me feel so much more alive. The one thing I do not like is the 4:00 sunsets.

I’ d love to try: Parfums Dusita Oud Infini or Coze PG.

Thank you for the draw! I live in the US.

  • During winter I can fully enjoy my favorite warm things: woolen jackets and scarves, hot chocolate, mulled wine, sitting by the fireplace. And I love skiing!

My favorite from the list are:
    Parfums Dusita Oud Infini
    Parfumerie Generale Coze 02
    Histoires de Parfums 1740

Thank you for the draw! I live in EU.

  • Winter is not my favourite season but a nice fragrance always helps 🙂 From your recommendations I would choose Dusita Oud Infini because of civet or Histoires de Parfums 1740 because of cardamom and coriander. I’m in the EU. Thank you for so generous draw.

  • I prefer spring and summer, but with a proper fragrance, hot coffee and a good book, winter is not that bad. I like what Lauryn wrote about Cozé, that it makes her feel warmer while wearing it. That’s why I love winter fragrances.

    My choices would be:

    02 Cozé Parfumerie Générale
    Parfums Dusita Oud Infini
    Histoires de Parfums 1740
    DSH Perfumes Café Noir

I live in the EU, thanks!

  • I like winter, but what I love the most about it are the smells. both fragrance wise and the smells you encounter during this season!

my favourite from your list of favourites is Grand Soir. I own a bottle and it’s gorgeous. 🙂

I live in Romania (EU) and my choices would be, in this order, Coze, 1740, Cafe Noir, Oud Infini. thank you for the giveaway!

  • I love winter for the crisp air and fireplace smoke and the strange muffled silence that seems to come with a big snowfall. While we have different opinions on the season, I’m like Ermano and reach for “opulent ambers, warm spices or waxed woods.” In fact, his comment reminded me that I haven’t smelled Miel de Bois in at least a decade and should revisit it. I’m in the US, and my choices would be Histoires de Parfums 1740 (my first choice), Parfums Dusita Oud Infini, or Parfums DelRae Bois de Paradis. Thanks!

  • I love winter because the insects go away. I am also a huge fan of snow. Everything is prettier, and there is just something peaceful and soft about a world blanketed in snow.

I live in the USA and my choices are:
    Parfums Dusita Oud Infini
    Parfumerie Generale Coze 02

    Thank you for the draw!

  • I love winter – i’m very warm blooded and love to be colder rather than too hot! Everyone in work hates me as i always want the radiator off. 🙂 I would love to win Coze, 1740, or especially Cafe Noir.
Thanks for the chance. I’m in the UK.

  • Miss Almond says:

I am not a huge fan of winter, mainly because days are so short and I am not getting enough light. But a good spiced tea and a good perfume always helps. I am most interested in Histoires de Parfums 1740, but all of the prizes sound great. I live in Europe. Thank you for the draw!

  • I love it as long as it’s not too cold. I like how the weather makes fragrances more controlled. I don’t like the lack of daylight. It’s a Love/Hate season for me. Estate Carnation and 1740 are the only ones I’ve tried. I love them both. I would love to win Oud Infini, Coze, Cafe Noir, Bois de Paradis, Poivre and 1740. I’m in the US. Thank you so much for this icredible draw.

  • Love the cooler temperatures of winter; especially since I live in the tropics where it’s way too hot most of the time. I’ve tried Coze, 1740 and Bois de Paradis. I would like to win Oud Infini, 1740, or Coze. I live in Singapore.
    Thanks.

  • This is great list. I have wanted to try all of these especially parfums dusita and Poivre
I would be thrilled with any of these in the USA where it is warm for winter

  • I despise winter with every ounce of my being. Not sure if it is because I grew up in a warmer climate and even after 25 years in the Portland OR area, I still don’t like it. As soon as school is out and at spring break I head to either the desert southwest or the deep south to warm my bones. I took my family hiking in the Petroglyph National Park at 2 pm as soon as we got off the plane, it was 98 degrees. I am only familiar with one on the list. Darn, need to do more sampling. From the descriptions I would most like to win: Cafe Noir, Coze or Poivre. Thank, I live in the U.S.

  • I really love winter, specially because I can wear my favourite perfumes, those with lots of leather, or spices…. (I must say I love when it is cold and sunny, otherwise I can be sad if I don’t see the sun for long time because of foggy weather, but then I love the winter clothes ).
My favourite from your contributours list is Miel de Bois, I have the export bottle and it is really addictive. 1740 is also high on my top winter favs. (Poivre of Caron I love but sadly it doesn’t match my skin chemistry, I hate when this happens)
Thanks for the draw & opportunity to participate. My choices are:
    1) Dusita Oudh Infini
    2) Histoires de Parfums 1740
    I live in Europe.

  • I haven’t tried any if your top 10, but now I want to try all of them. (My list is never going to get any shorter, is it?) I used to love a winter day with the temperature around 20F, not too much wind, and a little snow on the ground. Now that I’ve developed Raynaud’s Disease, or maybe just because I’ve gotten older, I find myself checking the temperatures in Hawaii and thinking it looks like an excellent place to live. I may be too late for the drawing, but if not, I’d love to win any of the perfumes being offered, but especially Parfums Delrae Bois de Paradis, Parfumerie Generale Cozé, and Parfums Dusita Oudh Infini. I’m in the US.

  • I love winter leading up to Christmas, but then from mid January the longing for spring sets in,perfume wise it is my favourite season though, where Portrait of a Lady,L’Heure defendue and Slumberhouse Kiste are magnificent!I only know Bois de Paradis from this list and i also think it is one of the greats, but should I be lucky to win,I would love to try Oudh Infini or Cafe Noir,I live in the EU.

  • I don't like the very cold weather but I like the winter as long as the sun shines. I think this is a great list lots to choose from. I have really heard great things about Parfums Dusita Oud Infini, and I also would love to win Bois de Paradis, Coze, Poivre, HdP 1740,cafe noir. USA resident and registered

  • Dubaiscents says:

I love winter both where I live now (UAE) because the weather is perfect for sleeping with the windows open and for wearing long sleeves and light jackets and, also in Connecticut where I grew up because of the snow and the wood fires.

I would love a bottle of the 1740 or Coze or Cafe Noir. Thank you!

  • Miss Sunshine says:

I love winter because skiing is the most fun activity for me and watching big snowflakes come down is amazing.

I would love to win Coze or Oudh Infini. Thank you! (EU)

  • cinnamon tree says:

I have Miel de Bois and I love it in summer, but never tried to wear it as a winter fragrance. I agree about Cozé, it’s lovely!
I actually quite like winter if it’s short. I get cold easily and long winters are not for me.

As a potential winner of the draw I’d love 02 Cozé Parfumerie Générale or Oudh Infini Dusita. I live in the EU. Thank you for the draw and the reviews.

  • I like winter and spicy warm perfumes I can generously spray on myself. I read your top ten suggestions and I smiled seeing my favorite Bois de Paradis among them. It smells so good in winter.

I live in the EU f I win the draw, I would like:
    Histoires de Parfums 1740
    Parfumerie Générale Сoze
    Parfums Dusita Oud Infini

    Thanks!

  • I love winter when it’s one of those crisp, sunny days where you can get outside all wrapped up and breathe what feels like the cleanest air ever…

    My choices will be:
    Сoze PG
    Oudh Infini Dusita Parfums

I live in Europe. Thank you for the draw! Happy winter!

  • Living in Norway, I have no choice but to like winter and snow 🙂 I am used to it and I can say we are friends, although sometimes I am tired of days that are too short. I like using spicy perfumes, they restore my energy level.

Thank you for so generous draw. I would be happy to win any of the fragrances mentionned, especially Parfums Dusita 50 ml Oud Infini extrait.

  • Overall I’d say I loathe winter. I dread it all year long! There are some things I like it about it, though, like the first snowfall or snuggling under blankets with hot chocolate. And of course, the winter scents are my absolute favourite! The only winter pick I’ve tried is the Histoires de Parfums, which is absolutely lovely. I have many Serve Lutens, including Un Bois Vanillé, so I can imagine how wonderful a honeyed version would be. They all sound divine and so seasonally appropriate! I live in Canada, and would love to win:

Histoires de Parfums 1740 2.5 oz
02 Cozé Parfumerie Générale 30 ml
Parfums Dusita 50 ml Oud Infini extrait
DSH Perfumes 3 ml spray of Café Noir

  • Even though Tucson winters are pretty mild, it’s not my favorite season. I live in the US and would love to wear Poivre “Crackling with pepper and carnation, Poivre’s warm, spicy glow will get you through the worst Old Man Winter can throw at you.”
