When Frederick Bouchardy the owner of Joya Studio (and one of the three partners of the New York Elements Showcase ) recently sent me a message that Joya Studio would like to contribute a "Gunpowder and Green Tea'' candle to our blogathon for the Libby Ross Foundation, I was afraid no one would donate , as it has a skull and cross bones motif; his Halloween candle. Iwas wrong; it is a symbol that undetected breast cancer can kill and it has wonderful aromatherapeutic properties. Gunpowder and Green Tea's notes of shiso tea leaf (immune system), white mint (stress relief and general wellness), cape jasmine (calming, relaxing, sensual), calla lily,(used in many flower essences, and sicilian lemon (uplifting, refreshing, cheering).

I loved Sarah Ciat's beautiful sculptural art featuring a butterfly for "Orange Blossom and Pale Musk Home Fragrance Diffuser Frederick and I met in 2009, when I lived on 90th Street in New York. I was the first person outside his Company to smell Composition No. 1 and No. 6, Joya's first perfumes. He arrived bearing gifts including the recently reissued Rodarte /Joya collaboration.
(I sent Frederick this Matisse painting as inspiration)
I loved the scents, but disliked the names. (I suggested he reconsider the number designations and made my case for No 1 to be renamed "Fruits and Flowers" (Colette's Book).
