CaFleureBon Best Winter Fragrances 2013 + 8 Snowy Day Perfumes Draw

best winter fragranceswinter fragrances 2013 groups

Winter is a season for brisk walks in snowy woods (or schlepping through city slush). This year winter came early in the most unlikely places…  the first snow in the Middle East in over 100 years!   Some of us are snow bunnies and some of us are homebodies when the thermostat drops, but winter is our favorite scent season.  Days are short and nights are long; winter is the perfect time to cozy up with a wonderfully warming scent. Our top ten favorites for 2013.

Cocoa Tuberose by Providence Perfume Co (Charna Ethier, 2009)  is a surprising chocolate floral displaying unparalleled vividness, gravitas and posture, all without the use of synthetics. Not only does It contains the darkest and most complete cacao note I've ever experienced in perfume, but it achieves a rare and remarkable balance against the most sensual and discreet facets of tuberose. This duality is met with structured and well defined accents such as pepper, wormwood and pipe tobacco which enhance and improve the contrast. To get that kind of control into a botanical formula makes Cocoa Tuberose feel like an even more impressive achievement and for that reason it remains one of the best examples of 100% natural perfumery I have ever worn.

Winter is my least favorite time of year but paradoxically has become my favorite time of year for fragrances, as warmer sweet or spicy scents are my weakness and they help combat the gloom of cold, dark days once the holidays are over. After the holidays, I just want to sleep until spring.  Dior Hypnotic Poison (1998, Annick Menardo) opens like a bite of an enchanted fruit with a toxic blast of anise, a note I generally dislike, but in this case it works for shock value.  It is a nightmare in reverse, with the scream sinking into a soft, warm cloud of bitter almond, a touch of marzipan, and pillowy jasmine on a bed of vanilla and musk.  No one ever asks Snow White what she dreams as she waits to be awoken by a kiss, but if Hypnotic Poison’s pyramid echos her experience, they are sweet dreams

Imagine snow fairies dancing in cool spices and milky creaminess. Olfactive Studio Lumiere Blanche (Sidonie Lancesseur 2012) continues to stir and spin its poetry on the skin. Cardamom, Iris and Sandalwood develops into a distinct hypnotic voice. Each inhalation creates warmth that is surprisingly fresh for a woody gourmand, like a ballad its fragrant rhythm hums on and on.

Atelier Colognes’ Gold Leather (Jerome Epinette 2013) is like a hot toddy for my nose. On a cold winter’s night what does one need to keep warm? As far as fragrances go-give me soft buttery leather, alcohol, aged fragrant woods and somber herbs. This perfume has all these things, and then some! From the rum-soaked fruit to the balanced herbs and greens in the heart, all the way to the heavenly chorus of woods in the dry down, this perfume never disappoints and warms me inside and out. This may contain oud and saffron, in precise and perfect doses, but it smells infinitely better to my jaded nose than any of the “mukhallat” variations released this year, thanks to its shroud of sublime leather.

Histoires de Parfums Ambre 114 (Gerald Ghislain,2007 ) is the other side of my warm winter fragrance coin. No leather, no booze…just warm crumbly smoothly sophisticated amber. Rich, but never pretentious or cloying, this is a spectacular amber scent for everyday wear. From the first spritz to its final whispers (24 hours+ later!), this pleases on every level. Its spicy top notes give way to a geranium dominated very classic barbershop scent deepened with vetiver and patchouli, and kissed with soft rose, that never becomes too smoky or dirty. A veritable “who’s who” of dulcet oriental resinous notes completes this; but it never becomes cloying. All 13 listed notes blend seamlessly and, create something simple and gorgeous.

Although winter brings a longing for amber and incense perfumes, sometimes the melancholy of never-ending gloom calls for something more flowery. 40 Notes White Winter Flower (Miriam Vareldzis, 2011) is the promise of a snowdrop peeking through the snow, a sweet floral aroma that has a beguiling heart. Clean musks evoke the scent of cool winter air, while neroli and orange blossom hint at spring to come. Guaranteed to make doldrums disappear, and lovely to wear any time of the year.

Warm weather seems to be the best for wearing fruity fragrances, but there are exceptions. My favorite cold weather fruit scent is En Voyage Pêche Noir, (Shelley Waddington, 2010). The perfume delivers as the name suggests: juicy peaches dripping with deep notes of leather, oakmoss, and vetiver. This is a stunning example of a fruity chypre, full-bodied, with great sillage, and perfect for winter wear. Peach can be such a juicy, wonderful note, why restrict it to the summer?

There is no fragrance I can think of which just captures what I perceive as winter better than Eau D'Italie Sienne L'Hiver (2007) Bertrand Duchaufour's olfactory landscape truly captures a Siena street in winter. There is no real pyramid instead it is just the smells of the mise en scene. The leather traces on the horses, the chill of the stones of the street, woodsmoke drifting in a haze over it all. Sienne L'Hiver is like a Renaissance Landscape and when it is cold outside there is no beter time to sit back and allow a fragrance to transport you to a different place and time.

Plush, lush and opulent, Ormonde Jayne's Tolu (Geza Schoen and Linda Pilkington, 2002) reminds me of the great Oriental fragrances of years gone by, but reimagined for the 21st century. Rich and resinous, Tolu opens with a melange of orange blossom, clary sage and frankincense. Within the hour, I  journey to an Indian Spice Market and inhale the intoxicating aromas of cloves, cinnamon and sweet tonka beans.  Frankincense reappears surrounded by a puff of powder, then something wild and animalic prowls silently on golden paws before the luminous amber drydown. Sultry, sensual, Tolu is an exotic beauty of a perfume that pulls me in and won't let me go. Tolu melts into my skin like the sun on an unexpected warm winter day melts ten feet of snow.

  • I love fresh fallen snow, I love the peacefulness of falling snow and I adore when everything is covered in white. I love how the green of the pine trees is cover with snow and the branches drooping low with some green showing here and there. I do not like the cold weather that comes with it. Lumiere Blanche and 40notes Winter White Flowers would be my choices.

  • newvilledude says:

  • I love this season. I love sledding with my son. As for scents, I could see loving Peche Noir. Yum! USA. Thanks for the draw and happy holidays.

  • Carla Meiners says:

I love almost everything about winter, except driving in it! Christmas is just the highlight of the season. Being snowed in with a warm fire and a good book is a highlight too. Lumiere Blanche is amazingly well suited to winter!

  • leathermountain says:

I can’t stand the icy streets, but I am really loving the way that perfume wears so differently in the winter. Sienne L’Hiver could be destined for my winter skin. I love to be transported and transformed by scent.

  • I love the Christmas lights but prefer warmer weather. I enjoy the smell of the crisp air but like gardening. The snow is beautiful but perfer the sunny sandy tropical beach. Enjoy breaking out the leather jacket but wanna wear flip flops. Love/Hate relationship, ha ha.
Without a doubt Histoires de Parfums Ambre 411 would be my 1st choice, then Atelier Cologne Gold Leather would be 2nd and then Olfactive Studio Lumiere Blanche 3rd choice and lastly the Cocoa Tuberose by Providence Perfume Company. Thanks a million and Happy Holidays.

  • Winter is my favorite season! I love the cold nights, the falling snow (which doesn’t happen very often here in Spain), I love to wear my overcoat, it’s like an armor…
My choices would be…Atelier Cologne Gold Leather and Ormonde Jayne Tolu

    Thank you for the draw!

  • I love the winter however I hate the cold, love the snow though, I can see myself wearing Ormonde Jayne Tolu

  • I love winter in the Caribbean. Cocoa & Tuberose is the solution for my winter avoidance. I am in the US

  • My favorite part of winter is being able to go ice-skating 🙂 I also love looking at fresh snow, and occasionally stepping in it as well. I would love to try any of the perfumes that you talk about in this article!

  • The smell of a winter fireplace. The dry skin and salty floors. Sienne d’Hiver sounds perfect. Peche Noir sounds delectable. Tolu may be the one.
    Thank you!

  • I hate trudging through all the snow and ice during the winter. I also hate hitting black ice on a freeway going 35 mph, spinning in circles trying to avoid other spinning cars. As far of the things I love about wintertime, is the sight of falling snow and how it gently coats the bare tree branches with a soft blanket of white fur. Very beautiful! My first choice would be Cocoa Tuberose by Providence Perfumes and my second choice would be Tolu by Ormonde Jayne. I’m in the US. thanks for the draw!

  • I love the winter. I love the cool brisk air, the crystal blue sky. I love the feeling of being warm from bundling up while being outside in the frigid air. As for my favorite winter scent from your list would be Eau D’Italie Sienne L’Hiver. It’s all cold stones and fog. Thank you for the draw!

  • I love the snow and all the Christmas decorations. They make winter a bit more bearable 🙂 I do hate the short daylight.
I think Tolu and Lumiere Blanche are the two I most want to try. Thanks for the draw. I’m an international reader.

  • Winter is magical, everything glitters and sparkles – the snowy trees, icicles on the eaves, the deep blue bands of shadow on the pristine, white lawn. I love that cold fresh smell as snow falls, mingled with woodsmoke; the feeling of coming inside the warmth of home after a freezing cold afternoon walk. I love wearing layers of sweaters and scarves and boots, and cooking hearty, delicious meals. But the magic of winter lies in that deep, dormant sleep… when spring stirs things back to life, I’m glad. My favorites on the list are Atelier Cologne Gold Leather and Providence Perfume Cocoa Tuberose.

  • Good job team, I’ve just finished my letter and Santa has officially been informed. As for my favourite thing about winter, clusters of chocolate and booze suddenly appears around your home! What more needs to be said 😉

  • Great list of winter perfumes and beautiful art
I don’t like winter in the city but love visiting my boyfriend and walking hand In hand as the snow falls
    I would love to try
Amber 114 Winter white flower tolu
Lumiere Blanche and for my guy gold leather
Thank you they all sound wonderful

  • I love snow, cold-weather clothing, the smell of burning wood, the comfort foods, snuggling up by the fireplace…so pretty much everything about winter! I live in the US, and my favorites are Ormonde Jayne Tolu, En Voyage Perfumes Peche Noir, Cocoa Tuberose by Providence Perfume Company, and Sienne L’Hiver.

  • Winter is indeed magical no matter where we call home. It has been an interesting weather year for sure! The high desert where I live was blanked in white a couple of weeks ago. We do sometimes receive snow but usually disappears rather quickly.. NOT this time. We also got a blast of extreme cold air for a week afterwards.. I love how the sky seems to lower its self in the winter, the stars seem to twinkle so much brighter. As if sending a private message to those willing to notice them. I love the smell of the fresh crisp air.Great reviews on each of these and what an amazing draw… I would love to include Sienne L’Hiver in my new favorites, and Oh my I don’t think one can have enough Tolu. So they would be my choice. I am in the US… Thanks.

  • My favorite things about winter are being able to slow down & enjoy being with family and friends and the incredible food and warm beverages that you only partake in this time of year. The thing I hate about winter is the cold. I’m a Texan and don’t handle it very well! I just ordered Cocoa Tuberose for myself and agree with Alex completely. It’s amazing! I love Atelier Gold Leather and Olfactive Studios Lumiere Blanche already and think I would love Ormonde Jayne Tolu and Eau d’Italie Sienne L’Hiver. I am in the U.S. Thanks!

  • I think I would love winter. Have not had the opportunity experiencing it full-blown having lived in a tropical country all my life. On the downside, I think the cold will get to me and make me miserable! I own and love Lumiere Blanche and would love the chance to win Gold Leather or Tolu. I’d love to try Peche Noir and Cocoa Tuberose too but unfortunately, I’m not in USA. Merry Christmas all!

  • Winter is my favs season..I love soft fallen snow, and especially going for walks in the woods,it’s utter solitude.
My fav scent for the winter months is Ambre 114…I am dying to try lumiere Blanche. 🙂 thank you for the draw.

  • I love early winter-the cold, the snow, the holidays, the warm clothing. I grow weary of the cold in February, although I still prefer it to 90+F temperatures. The only thing I really dislike is driving in ice and snow, particularly in heavy traffic. As for scents, I would love to win Tolu, Cocoa Tuberose or Ambre 114. I’m in the US.

  • I love winter. Pinkish morning sunlight illuminates the glittering crisp snow or winter evenings with a black sky above the white expanses. This is so beautiful.
My choices would be Olfactive Studio Lumiere Blanche, Tolu Ormonde Jayne or Atelier Cologne Gold Leather. All this scents looks attractive for me and I will be very happy to get any of this perfumes.

  • I’m in Australia, and would love to win Tolu, Lumiere Blanche, or Gold Leather – they all sound magical! I’m pining a bit for winter at the moment, it’s been stinking hot over here. Some of my favourite winter things are hot chocolate, mulled wine, woodfires, and cosy knitwear and blankets.

  • Winter is not a constant here in Texas so when it does get cold I enjoy the fires in my fireplace, dragging heavy sweaters out of the back of the closet and cacooning in my house. I also love the way the cold makes my strongest scents more wearable and tame.
All these scents sound great. I am familiar with En Voyage Peche Noir and Providence Perfumes Cocoa Tuberose, and love them both. Tolu, Lumiere Blanche and Ambre 114 also sound great. I am in the US

  • Chapeau Clack says:

I love what they call “real” winter, in the countryside and small towns that occasionally get snowed in. I love the pre-holidays shop window displays and the wonderful quiet of a snowy night. No wonder most of my perfume wardrobe is suited for winter.
I would love to add Tolu or Lumiere Blanche to my collection.

  • I love that during the Winter months my family and I spend much more time together at home.I love when it first starts to snow and everything looks beautiful and magical.I also love that cold and clean but still soft smell in the air right before a snowstorm starts.I do not enjoy the bitter cold we have to deal with sometimes and I really do not like the gray, brown and black slushy mess that the snow becomes a day or two after the snowstorm.I am really looking forward to trying a few of these scents but Peche Noir and Cocoa Tuberose are the two that I can not stop thinking about!! They both sound like lovely scents to try this Winter.Thank you for this wonderful draw. P.S. Henry the tree is adorable!! My daughter saw the picture and said it reminds her of Charlie Brown’s tree 🙂 Wishing Everyone good health, happiness and peace this Holiday Season and in the New Year as well.I am in the U.S.

  • I hate scraping ice off my car windshield when I have to go somewhere in the morning on a cold day. I love watching snow fall. I would like to win Atelier’s Gold leather because I haven’t tried it. I would like to win Olfactif Studio’s Lumiere Blanche, Ormonde Jayne Tolu, or Eau d’Italie Sienne L’Hiver.

  • I mostly hate Winter (dry skin, static-y hair, icy streets) but I do love the smells associated with it (evergreens, wood fires, fresh citrus). Thanks for the great draw; I’d love to win Tolu, Ambre 114, or Lumiere Blanche.

  • I love the coziness of Winter-I like to be snuggled in my warm little house while cold air tries (but, fails) to find me.
I don’t like the short days and the early nightfall.

I would love to win Sienne L’Hiver or 40notes Winter White Flowers.

Tama, your tree looks lovely. Nice candle collection, too.
I live in the US. Thanks for the drawing.

  • I love the fresh cool air. I love snow and the holidays that come in winter. I cannot stand cleaning off the car though! I would love to have Cocoa Tuberose!

  • I love most everything about winter except for sunsets before 5pm, weather-related airport delays, and my hair which looks like I was electrocuted. I love the crisp air, snow on the slopes, and needing a blanket to sleep. Lovely choices above. I would love to wear Tolu all season.
I am in the US and thanks for the draw.

  • I love winter. I was a winter baby so I can handle the cold but I hate the dry air and the icy wind.
I love the snow, the ice, the frosty landscapes. Even driving is not so bad. I love I can wear my fav fragrances. It happens 90% are orientals.

I would love to win Tolu, Ambre 114, Lumiere Blanche.

  • I love the peace and quiet of winter, and sometimes even the cold, but not the wind – where I live it howls out of the east like a Fury, and it’s impossible to wear enough layers to keep warm!

I agree completely about Peche Noir, which I already have – it’s the perfect fruity scent for winter, it’s so rich and cozy. I would love to win the Tolu, Lumiere Blanche or Winter White Flowers. Thank you!

  • I love the longer winter nights and how the full moon shines on the snow covered landscape. I love the smell of fireplaces and wood burning stoves in the cold air. I am grateful to be with my family in a nice warm home. I am in the US. Please consider me for the LUMIÈRE BLANCHE or Ambre 114. I haven’t had the fortune to try any of the fragrances on the list, but the LUMIÈRE BLANCHE reminds me of the winter moon and Ambre 114 of the warmth of a loving home.

  • Obviously, I hate the cold, as I am a summer guy. The only thing I can tolerate from winter is being able to wear very strong orientals… although, now that I think of it, I don’t mind wearing them in summer either! 🙂
I’d like to win Ormonde Jayne’s Tolu, Atelier Cologne’s Gold Leather and Olfactive Studio’s Lumiere Blanche. Thanks!

  • I love snow,I love the sounds muffled during snowfall, I like the clear air and sparkling in the starry nights. I’m in Europe and I’d like to win Ormonde Jayne Tolu and Atelier Cologne’s Gold Leather.
    Thanks!

  • When I was a child, after every heavy snow, the snow plows would come during the small hours of the night. They emitted this chinking, bell-like sound and had blue lights. It was as if my suburban street was being visited by gentle monsters. Whenever it snowed, I would wait anxiously for them. Those few moments when the plows drove past my window were pure magic.

I would love to win: Atelier Gold, OJ Tolu, Olfactive Lumiere Blanche, Sienne L’Hiver or Providence Cocoa Tuberose. Thank you for the generous draw!

  • I hate winter because of the cold, damp darkness of most of its hours I love the possibility to wear so well the ” heavy” fragrances
My choises would be ” Leather Gold” and “Tolu”
    happy Holidays

  • I love winter I love wandering around the snow I also love walking barefoot on a beach at this time I would like to try Sienne L’Hiver or Luminere blanche thank you & Happy Holidays cold or warm!

  • I love winter if the sun shines …and that’s not often in my city. Since 15 days I havent’t see the sun because of a thick fog…The only thing I like in winter is that I can wear my favourite fragances.
I’m in Europe and I would like to try Tolu. Thanks for the draw.

  • I love winter when it’s reasonable. It can be cold, but not extremely cold, and dry. No snow, no ice. That is a reasonable winter I can live with.

All on the list sound amazing. I suppose my favorites would be Lumiere Blanche, Tolu, Ambre 114, Cocoa Tuberose. Winter White Flowers and Peche Noire sound great too.

My faves would be Tolu and Gold Leather. Thank you for the giveaway and happy holidays!

  • I love the cooler weather (and warmer clothes) and Christmas lights in winter. I dislike always being overbooked, and family members who change their holiday plans repeatedly. I’m in the US, and I’d love to win Tolu, Ambre 114, Peche Noir, or Cocoa Tuberose.

Merry Christmas to the Caflerebon crew

I would like to win Tolu for that sounds the most interesting. I live outside US.

    Thanks!

  • Even with a lack of true winter weather where I live the cooler temps are great for wearing the rich and spicier scents that I love. Amouage Interlude Man is a favorite since it reminds me of the fires my keep burning in the wood stove all winter long.

    Thanks for the draw!

I’d love to win Lumiere Blanche and Tolu.
    Thanks and Happy Holidays!

  • I love most everything about winter except wet socks! With two teenagers it’s hard to keep the entry to our home dry no matter how hard I try. Stepping in a wet spot is inevitable!

I’d love to try Lumiere Blanche or Tolu! Am wearing Hypnotic Poison right now!

  • I hate when it is very cold outside, but I love the snow.

I would choice Atelier Cologne Gold Leather.

  • Oh, the arc between Halloween and New Year’s is my favorite time of the year! I love the festive spirit that makes these colder, darker days feel warmer and brighter. I adore snuggling into soft and cozy sweaters and blankets, warm fireplaces, hot teas and chocolate, and EGG NOG. Which I make from scratch, rum and bourbon and freshly grated nutmeg included.

Cocoa Tuberose sounds like the perfect scent for me–rich, dark chocolate AND creamy white florals? I can think of nothing better! I’d also like to try Gold Leather, Peche Noir, or Tolu.

  • What I mostly love in winter is the clean atmosphere in the air where the cold weather makes my everyday workout in nature really far more easier when I am well dressed than in the summer.
Also the coziness in the house with the burning woods in the fireplace. the smell of strong scents while cooking a good meal for the family when outside is cold and snowy all these I love in winter time.

  • Thank you for the reviews and draw!

Winter is a bit too cold for me–neither temperature extreme is fun for me, so Fall is my favorite season, followed by Spring. I hate trying to walk on ice and slush, wet feet, freezing fingers which hurt when they thaw.

But I love the snow, especially at night in the moonlight, and sunrise. I love how quiet it gets, how it feels to sit by a window under a blanket by a fire with something hot to drink watching the snow fall….Cashmere scarves and sweaters, eggnog and other winter flavors, and of course warm spicy winter scents!

I’d love any of these! Already know I love Tolu and Lumiere Blanche from samples. I believe I would also love: Ambre 114; Gold Leather; Cocoa Tuberose; Peche Noir; Sienne L’Hiver

  • I love the holiday atmosphere of winter and it’s great to watch snow fall (when you’re indoor of course). I dislike going to work on Xmas and New Year because it’s so darn busy.

I’ve not smelled any of them but from what I read Ambre 114, Gold Leather, and Lumiere Blanche sounds interesting

  • I love the peace of the winter landscape, but HATE winter commutes when snow snarls traffic beyond comprehension.

I’d love to win the Tolu, Cocoa Tuberose, or Sienne d’Hiver. I’m in the US.

  • I dislike the tax in time and energy dealing with the snow, cold, and ice. But I do like being snowed in when everyone is forced to slow down and breathe a little.

I would love any of these! I am in the US.

  • I love the sound of snow falling, and the black and white quality of a snowy landscape on an overcast day.Tolu by Ormonde Jayne would be my top pick, followed by Atelier Cologne Gold Leather and Cocoa Tuberose by Providence Perfume Company.
    I live in the USA.

  • Chris Schaefer says:

I love sitting by the fire in winter, but I hate the short days and the foggy mornings. Watching snow fall is enchanting, but shoveling certainly isn’t. Such contrasts!

I love the sound of Cocoa Tuberose. I am in the U.S.

    Thanks for the draw!

  • Winter is my favorite season! I thrive in the cold whereas I wilt in the humidity of summer. I love the bracing chill, the warmth and coziness you combat the chill with, soft and warm cashmere scarves and sweaters, crackling fires, steaming beverages, long and slow cooked meals perfect for long nights, and the utter stillness and peace from a snowfall-to quote a song I love, “And everything in time and under Heaven finally falls asleep, wrapped in blankets white all creation shivers underneath, and still I notice You when branches crack, and in my breath on frosted glass, even now in death You open doors for life to enter, You are Winter.”

All of the fragrances listed above I have not gotten to try and they all sound like my new favorite winter scent!

I would love to be considered to win any of the following:

    Olfactive Studio Lumiere Blanche
    Tolu by Ormonde Jayne
    Atelier Cologne Gold Leather
    Eau de Italie Sienne L’Hiver
Ambre 114 from Histoires de Parfums
Cocoa Tuberose by Providence Perfume Company
    40Notes Winter White Flowers
    EnVoyage Perfumes Pêche Noir

Thank you so much, and Happy Winter Solstice to all! 🙂

The stillness of a cold Winter’s eve after a fresh fallen snow. Like Alex’s Picture.

Having been to Sienna in the Spring, I choose Sienna L’Hiver…(Santa Baby, are you listening?)
    Happy Holidays to All.

  • I love snow!!! I want snow I want it for Christmas!! I love wearing my fur and the scent of it whrn the snowflakes fall on it is gorgeous!!
My favourite perfume from the list are Lumiere Blance, Gold leather or Tolu as I live in the UK

  • What I love about winter is wearing warm sweaters and drinking warm tea at night! My favorites from the list would be Cocoa Tuberose, Lumiere Blanche, or Winter White Flowers! Thank you for the draw – I’m in the US.

  • I love the hugs, the mulled wine and the family gatherings round the fire place (or the table, when there’s no fire-place). Well, yes, I love the snow , but only in the mountains when taking a break from the urban fuss.
I am in the EU, so I guess I have to choose between Lumiere Blanche, Tolu and GOld Leather. I only know Lumiere Blanche and it’s awesome.

  • I love the sound of snow crunching under your footsteps and looking up at stars twinkling above while watching your breath in the cold air. Those are some of my happy memories of living in Vermont. I totally agree with Michelyn’s pick, and love and own Tolu. I would love to win either Lumiere Blanc or Sienne L’Hiver. I live in the US. Thanks for the draw!

  • I really can’t say it any better than Devon H. I adore Winter, everything about it, including the cold, and the longer nights. I especially enjoy the stark beauty and melancholy of cold winter nights, and the fact that you kind of just hunker down and turn inward during this season. I find it restful and restorative.

All these fragrances sound lovely, but I’s especially love to try Tolu by Ormonde Jayne, Atelier Cologne Gold Leather, and Ambre 114 from Histoires de Parfums.

Thank you and the all the wonderful perfumers for your generosity!

  • Oh this is such a great compilation of fragrances
I love winter fragrances more than any other season
Drooling in the snow lol. Would love Tolu Ambre 114 lumiere sienne l’hiver Blanche and cocoa
    tuberose. Great post!

  • Winter is my least favorite season due to the dark, short days and, oh yeah, the COLD – though I do like the cozy feel of a snowy day, stuck inside with the fireplace going and soup summering on the stove. If the snow would melt immediately afterward, I wouldn’t mind that at all. Another thing I do like about winter is Christmas and Christmas music. And winter fragrances are my favorites, hands down. I like rich, saturated scents full of gorgeous notes like amber, incense, spices, patchouli and so on. My draw choice would be for either OJ Tolu or Atelier Gold Leather. 🙂

  • I live in Southern California, so winter means wonderful cool weather!!! Love it! It’s also the time for holidays, and the birthdays of my two little children. We’ll be taking a trip up to the mountains soon too.

My favorites from the list above are:
OJ Tolu, Atelier Gold Leather, Histoires de Parfums Ambre 114, Providence Cocoa Tuberose, and En Voyage Perfumes Peche Noir.

    Thank you so much!

  • I love how snow looks while I’m inside, but I HATE the cold and hate being outside in it. I also like Christmas music, and my cozy Dulcis in Fundo perfume.
Lumiere Blanche, Peche Noir, Ambre 114 and Cocoa Tuberose all look like they have the potential to be favorites! Actually they all do!

  • I hate winter. I just hate it. I really prefer summer. But I can repeat after contributor Nancy Knows: “Winter is my least favorite time of year but paradoxically has become my favorite time of year for fragrances”. All my favorite woody, incensy, oudy fragrances just smell better in a chill air.
My pick would be Lumiere Blanche, Sienne l’Hiver and Gold Leather. I am in the US.

  • I have a love/hate relationship with winter. Where I live, winter is an seemingly interminable affair lasting six months, most of which are sheer gloominess. I love the snap of the cold, the prettiness of pristine snowy mornings, and the coziness of being inside! I also love fragrances which are decidedly “winter time.” I’m in the US and would love (in order of preference): Atelier Cologne Gold Leather, Tolu by Ormonde Jayne, HdP Ambre 114, Sienne L’Hiver, Olfactive Studio Lumiere Blanche.

    Thanks and Happy Holidays!

  • What I love about winter is the snow when it falls and settles untouched. What I hate in winter is the snow when it falls and turns into mushy slosh. I was just thinking the other day that a perfect winter for me would be snow all around but not in the city. I also like that it’s the perfect time to drink hot chocolate and I’m fine with the dark days as long as I don’t have to do anything.

Also, it’s the best time to wear some of my heavier perfumes. Of course I forgot to choose the fragrance: Lumiere Blanche and Tolu by Ormonde Jayne. I’m in the UE.

  • Winter weather is very pretty but pretty foul to drive in, winter foods are yummy and comforting – plus that is where most of the Northern hemisphere food holidays fall! As for scents, I love wearing leather and sometimes tobacco, but amber can be tricky on my skin. I love in the US and would love to try Eau D’Italie Sienne L’Hiver, En Voyage Pêche Noir or Cocoa Tuberose! Thank and hoping everyone has a great holiday.

  • Brisk damp air draped in the haze of woods and burning fireplaces. It really is a magical time of the year. Plus I can get away with dense resinous fragrances. I’ve been hearing wonderful things about Olfactive Studio’s Lumiere Blanche. You had me at creamy sandalwood. Would love to win Lumiere Blanche or Ambre 114. I am in the US. Thank you for the draw!

  • I guess I like the calm of the winter.
my pick from the list as a winter scent would be Ambre 114 as it is one of the better ambers.
I’d like to be in the draw for Tolu by Ormonde Jayne, Lumiere Blanche or Atelier Cologne Gold Leather
    I’m an international reader,
    ty

  • I bask in the warmth of our little cottage, heated by the wood stove. The house feels golden and beautiful – I step outside and feel the sharp, cold blue of the cold – the contrast is invigorating! The scent of woodsmoke always makes me feel quiet, contented.

Fragrance and perfumes are one of my favorite things – the ones from the list that intrigue me:

Cocoa Tuberose, Tolu, Ambre 114, Lumiere Blanche

  • Oh, great winter warmer picks- and a lovely post. In winter I really dislike that the snow chaos makes it impossible to transport oneself anywhere, not to mention the getting dark before four. The good thing is snuggling up at home with candles, and of course, as already mentioned, I can wear all my favourite perfumes. Wouldn’t I just LOVE to win Lumiere Blanche, a true winter fave.
Thank you very much CFB for the draw

  • wefadetogray says:

I love the winter. I love it. I have a terrible time dealing with the heat in the summer. i like to bundle up. I love scarfs, big coats, hats, and gloves. I love Christmas. I love coziness. I feel at home during the winter so it is just perfect all around for me.
As a future favorite I’d say the almondy Lumiere Blanche or the balsamic Tolu by OJ.
Thanks for the draw and Merry Christmas!

  • Not at all fond of winter no matter how much I try. From behind the glass the warm (:)) glow of snow has such ambience, why so many song have been written about it but it leaves me ‘cold’ All I can love about snow is the wildlife that needs it, like Polar bears and in their case I want more of it for them. I love the sound of Tolu by Ormonde Jayne or Olfactive Studio Lumiere Blanche since I am an such an International or so they say!!

  • Winter here is very mild, so I would have to say that I love the rare snowfall. It’s such a treat, and it’s gone before you can get tired of it. Otherwise I actually like a few cold, gloomy days until the daffodils and hyacinths show up. As for fragrance, the Lumiere Blanche sounds lovely, but I am really intrigued by the 40notes Winter White Flowers and the Atelier
    Gold Leather.

  • Joe Tetelman says:

Winters in Cleveland are horrible! 1/2 oz. En Voyage Perfumes Peche Noir sounds great. Thank you for the opportunity and happy holidays to you!

  • helical gnome says:

I love winter. I used to be the kind of person who loved to sunbathe and tan. When I turned 30 there was a total change in my skin’s desire. Now I crave winters: long, snowy, cold, and dense. I like to put a thick hat on and just walk slowly at night and look at the snow falling down reflecting the light of the window displays. Amazing! I dream of going to Hokaido in the winter and run in the snow surrounded by dogs. AAHHHH!
Well now this is a fantastic list of scents you have put together ca fleur bon. What can I say? Lumiere Blanche for sure followed quite closely by Tolu and then perhaps Ambre 114.
Thanks for this wonderful draw 🙂

  • Jennifer Dysart says:

I love the quiet beauty of winter after a snow and the clean scent of the cold air. I am loving the sound of Lumiere Clanche, followed by Winter White Flowers and Cocoa Tuberose

  • I just love the change of season. Winter is especially beautiful!! The ice storms that come with it are not so great here on the plains. From the list, I would love Lumiere Blanche, Tolu, Cocoa Tuberose or Sienne l’hiver.

  • Winter is my favorite season–I like the stark nature, brisk weather, the quality of light and how precious it is, candlelight, family gatherings and the sense of optimism for the new year. The Danes have a name for this: hygge.

Thank you for this opportunity! I live in the US and would be more than delighted with either:

    Lumiere Blanche
    Tolu
    Cocoa Tuberose
    Sienne L’Hiver
    Peche Noir

  • To be honest, it’s the hardest time of year for me, not because it’s cold, but because it gets dark so early. I always feel a sense of relief when the Solstice passes. On the other hand, yes, indeed my favorite perfumes are the rich, heavy ones, spicy, incense or oriental, so wearing those is a definite consolation! I live in the US and would love to win Olfactive Studio Lumiere Blanche or Tolu.

Thanks for another wonderful year on your blog, and Happy Holidays to all on staff.

  • Winter feels like the longest season
The days are too short and I suffer from SAAD
Nothing like a beautiful perfume to perk me up
I think this is one if the best winter fragrance posts because each one is one I know I would love
Happy to see a natural perfume too on this list
    USA
    I would love
    Tolu
    Ambre 114
    Lumiere Blanche
    Sienne l hiver
    Cocoa tuberose
    Winter white flower.

Thank you and the sponsors for this opportunity

  • What don’t I like? That the day ends too quickly. what do I like? The sky’s colors in the early evening, the biting freshness of really cold air, the smell of hardwood smoke from my neighbor’s fireplace, my dogs’ endless fascination with whatever smells so good to them inside deep snow that they must bury their noses inside and come out with snow snout. I love amber so Ambre 114 sounds beautiful but then, so do all the others.

  • Winter, I must say, is not my favorite season. Although I do love the holidays, getting together with family, huge mugs of cocoa in front of the fireplace. I have been wanting to try Lumiere Blanche for some time I would love to win this beauty!

  • I like winter much better than summer because I live in Kansas and summertime is usually hideously hot. But, I was raised in Michigan where winter can last for up to 5 months. I loved winter sports such as skiing and skating and the way snow changed the landscape.

I would love to win Lumiere Blanche. I live in the U.S.

  • Winter is fantastic! I like all seasons; they all have their charm yet winter is special to me. I allow myself to dream of a different life. I take care of my house. I spend time indoors with myself. I like it. The cold makes me feel alive. Merry Christmas to all 🙂
I would love to try Lumiere Blanche. Also Tolu and Ambre 114.
    Thanks

  • Janet in California says:

Winter inCalifornia is lovely! Although we could use some rain.
I live in the US and would like:
    Lumiere Blanche
    Cocoa Tuberose
    Sienne L’Hiver
    Peche Noir

    Thanks and happy holidays!

I love the winters in Europe. Cold weather outside and inside in front of the fireplace. I like the winter clothes (knitwear). I also think perfumes smell better in the winter time, or maybe I like typical winter perfumes more. My favorites from this list are Atelier Cologne Gold Leather and Tolu by Ormonde Jayne!

  • I love winter. It’s all warmth and hugs underneath the bed covers on a chilly morning and mugs of cocoa while stargazing. Winter perfumes are decadent and opaque like dark, opulent oil paintings. I would love to be wearing Gold Leather, Tolu and Lumiere Blanche even though it is summer here in Australia.

    Thank you for the draw!

  • I love the cosiness of the winter. Snuggling at home in comfortable warm clothes and the long cozy evenings. Also my favorite perfumes are winter perfumes. I would love to win Tolu, Gold Leather or Lumiere Blanche. I’m in the EU.

  • There is not much I like about winter. I prefer long hot summer nights to being locked up in the house at winter.
I am in the EU and would love to win Tolu.
    Thanks for the draw.

  • I think the only things I like about winter are: my hair stays in one zipcode, Christmas lights, and wearing my biggest scents with abandon. My faves are: Mitsouko, Coco, Chergui, Amir, Rumba, La myrrhe. I would like to win: Tolu, Ambre 114, Lumiere blanche, Gold Leather, or Sienne L’Hiver. I live in the US. Thank you!

  • I love winter, how the cold air is bright and fragile. The light feels like shards of ice and mornings fill up my lungs with brisk air. My thoughts seem to have more clarity, and I love all the winter scents even more because this season is so special to me. Sienne L’Hiver is the one I’ve always wanted. I just know it will embody all I love about winter. Thanks for the opportunity, I am in the U.S.

  • SO many good things in this draw! My favorite thing about winter is fresh snow- but I actually like everything about winter. I find it to be a very cozy time of year.
I think that my “soon to be” favorite winter scent would be Tolu!

  • I love winter, since a I live in the dessert, almost all the year is hot as hell, but in winter is lovely, I can wear my oriental vanillas all the time and wear cute bonnets and boots. And I love the all delicious food in christmas!! The only thing I don’t like about winter is the cold that may suffer the people and dogs/cats that live in the streets. Other than that there’s absolutely nothing I hate about winter. I would love to try Olfactive Studio Lumiere Blanche, gourmands are my favorites and I’ve never tried a woody gourmand, sounds amazing. I am in Mexico. Thanks for this!!

  • In one of Ray Bradbury’s short stories he talks about winter being a ‘short’ time, not because of its duration, but because one has the perpetual sense that this season is limited – it is going to come to an end. Summer, on the other hand, always feels like it could go on forever! Personally I am much more energized by winter. I live in South Africa and would love the Atelier Gold;)

  • I don’t like winter in Ireland,it’s far too wet and windy and dark. But I love my Christmas tree and the perfumed candles I light, the warm duvet and the mulled wine and all the lovely things we do to make winter bearable.Thank you for this wonderful draw,I would be very happy to win Tolu,Gold Leather or Lumiere Blanche.

  • At the moment I’m really not liking winter. Having a severe ice storm that just won’t stop. Plum trees snapping in to pieces, redbuds so heavy with ice they are fused to the ground, power lines dropping with an inch or more of ice in which I’m shocked I have not lost power yet, but in natures way it is really beautiful. Grass sparkling like diamonds, cedar atlus trees take on this unusual ice clumping with long daggers of ice and the blue jays and cardinals stand out so well among all the ice. Some excellent winter fragrance would sure cheer me up.
I’m sure I’d enjoy Amber 114, Coco Tuberose, Gold Leather, Lumiere Blanch and Sienne L’Hiver. Thanks you. Glad I got this typed, lights starting to surge. Eek.

  • Quiet evenings watching the snow fall
Making snow angels with our kids and sipping hot tea
    I like winter
My favorites might be Ambre 114 lumiere Blanche
    Tolu
But I would love to try them all US reader

  • I hate the cold and the short days. I feel sleepy all the time. The only upside I can think is the clear air but you have to stay out in the cold to enjoy that so it’s a no-no. I won’t lie, I wish I lived in a place where winter did not exist.

The silver lining is that it is a good season to wear fragrance. I like how many of my favourite perfumes smell this season. It is the time I pull out my Encre Noire and douse myself with it. I’d love to win Gold leather or Tolu.

    International reader

  • I normally just abide winter and pine for Spring. But I do look forward to the festivals of lights, solstice, and other Holidays around this time of year, because I’m with my family and friends then. All of the prizes are fabulous. I think I’d most love
    Tolu
    Lumiere Blanche
    40 Notes Winter White Flowers
    Atelier Gold Leather

Thanks so much for the generous draw.

  • Thanks to my husband, I’ve come to love and look forward to winter sports. I now look forward to renting our little cabin in the ski village and going cross country skiing one day, then snowboarding the next. Cross country skiing is beautiful and meditative, yet exhilarating and an incredible workout. Snowboarding is physical and forces the mind to attend only to what you’re doing in the moment. I do love both.
Lumiere Blanche is my absolute favourite of all the scents in your draw, followed closely by Tolu and Gold Leather. I would be thrilled to win any of them. I’m in Canada.

  • I hate short, wintery days, it’s very grey and dark here where I live – until the snow falls. Generally winter is good – in the mountains, where you can ski 🙂
I love all the four fragrances counting from the top of the list, but this winter perhaps it should be Lumiere Blanche, with it’s wonderful, fleshy milkiness.
    Thanks for the draw!

  • I have a love/hate relationship with winter … I love the cold, but not the ice. I love the inky black night sky that allows the stars to shine even brighter. I love staying in, cuddled under a blanket with a good movie or book. I love having four seasons, because just when I can’t stand winter any longer, it is time for spring!

Thank you for the draw! I am most interested in OJ Tolu, Gold Leather, and Sienne L’Hiver.

  • I love the cosy moments at home after a walk in nature- I just wish winter wouldn’t last that long, 2 months are enough!
In the cold season I enjoy oriental, spicy scents, so Tolu by Ormonde Jayne is my clear favorite.
    🙂
    i’m in Europe.

  • Winter is part of the natural cycle and that’s why I love it. I don’t like snow in the city as it means troubles in traffic. On the other hand, white Christmas in the city is charming and kinda vintage.
Tolu, Lumiere Blanche and Gold Leather- all are really great prizes
    for international draw.

  • One of my favorite thing about winter is the scarf that I wear. Every time I put it on, the scents from previous days still linger and I just love that aroma combination. Its like the most magical mixture of scents combined. Another thing that I love about winter is the freshly white snow after a night with the streets not yet cleared. Its so beautiful how it fills the trees, sidewalks, buildings, cars – especially if its a Saturday or Sunday morning and not a lot of people are out. Nothing like dressing up warmly and going for a nice stroll on this postcard perfect day.

My soon to be favorites Tolu by Ormonde Jayne, Atelier Cologne Gold Leather, Sienne L’Hiver, Ambre 114, En Voyage Perfumes Peche Noir, 40notes Winter White Flowers

    USA

  • I live in the US. I am a sucker for foodie and leather scents in winter. I’m wearing DSH Kohl Gris atm, but also wore BPAL’s Picture Books in Winter yesterday.

    I’d love to win:
    Ambre 114
    Peche Noir
    White Winter Flower
    or Cocoa Tuberose

  • I guess my favorite thing about winter is that it’s not summer. I hate sweating, and living in NYC, summer is not the most fun season for me. Between the bugs, the grime, and the intense heat and humidity, I spend most of it longing for winter. I also love being able to wear what I consider my “winter scents”: Etro’s Etra, Christian Dior’s Dolce Vita, and Velvet & Sweet Pea’s Purrfumery’s Fleur de Caramel. Of the ones recommended on Cafleurebon this year, I’d love to try Lumiere Blanche, Tolu, and Ambre 114. I’m in the US. Thanks!

  • My favorite thing about winter is being able to wear my scarves and puffy jackets. It is always the perfect weather for hot chocolates, coffee, and teas =) Out of the ones listed Cocoa Tuberose, Lumiere Blanche and Ambre 114 would be my favorite winter scents! I’d love to win either Lumiere Blanche or Tolu, and I’m in Taiwan.

  • Can’t stand ice and freezing rain
    Love the snow
    Great picks

I own cocoa tuberose and peche noir but any of the others would be lovely to win

  • I grew up in New England in a small town, and Winter is my second favorite season. I loved coming home from school, and enjoying cookies and cocoa, and then going ice skating at the local (two blocks away) pond for just a half hour or whatever I could until dusk hit and you had to quit the ice. Walking thru the woods to school or Mass, with fresh snow crunching under your boots, I imagined I was in a fairy tale and traveling to new and exciting places.
Cocoa Tuberose, Peche Noir, Ambre 114 are my picks for Winter.
    Thanks for the draw.

  • regina raphael says:

I like winter for a month and then long for spring… I get a crazy case of cabin fever.
Sign me up some nice winter perfumes. Ambre 114, Tolu, lumier blanche sienne l’hiver and gold leather sound really beautiful. I hope I win!

  • I love the beauty of snow, how it muffles all sounds, and glitters in the light. Favorite scent – Lumiere Blanche!!! Would also love to try Cocoa Tuberose. Thank you for the draw!

  • What I love about the winter is the beauty and the cozy mood it brings about. What I don’t like, is shoveling.. blagh!

Thank you for the draw! I’m in the US and my choices are:

    1. 50ml Tolu by Ormonde Jayne
    2. 10ml 40notes Winter White Flowers
    3. 100 Sienne L’Hiver,

  • What I love about the winter are the cashmere sweaters, hot cocoa, wool scarf, leather jackets and a heavy dose of my fav. fragrance. What I hate is the laziness that comes with the coldness.
I would love to get my hands on Tolu by Ormonde Jayne & Sienne L’Hiver
    Thanks USA

  • What I like most about winter is the sunny, chilly sparkling days that feel almost otherwordly.
I would love to win Tolu or Lumiere Blanche. I live in Sweden. Merry Christmas!

  • Sneaking in under the deadline! I hate everything about winter except the fragrances, but they are paradoxically my favorite so it all balances out. I would like to win Ormonde Jayne Tolu, Histoire des Parfums Ambre 114, Providence Perfumes Cocoa Tuberose, or Envoyage Perfumes Peche Noir.

  • I love the holidays amd the smell of burning smoke from
    The fireplace
I would love any of these lovely scents
    Merry Xmas

  • I enjoy wearing my nice winter outfits. But really don’t like the cold weather! I’m in Canada. Thanks for the draw.

    Lumiere Blanche
    Gold Leather
    Tolu
