Welcome Andy Tauer

Andy Tauer brought Tauerville to Twisted Lily in Brooklyn earlier this afternoon and was greeted by a packed crowd of fragrance lovers.

During the party, graciously and lavishly hosted by co owners Eric Weiser and Stamatis Birsimijoglou (not only did everyone leave smelling wonderful but no one left hungry). Andy spoke about his beginnings 10 years ago a self trained artisan and without financial resources. (He worked 24/7 at a day job and at night formulating fragrances).

The iconic L'air du Desert Marocain was sold in a book store in Switzerland where it languished until Critic Luca Turin lauded, Andy, an unknown, with the scent  earning top honors- five stars in his book Perfumes A-Z. The rest is fragrance legend. From bottles with printed labels he created individually and tied with twine, one by one,  to a branded line of fragrances, his journey is one of the most inspiring in the indie world.

Perfumer Andy Tauer addressing his fans and introducing Amber Flash

Andy explained that making money wasn’t a goal; opening the scented doors by offering affordable well made fragrances, to all, was more  more important. Andy explained that when he first started out, he didn’t really know what he was doing, he created intuitively and to this day, even though he is very successful and well known, he listens carefully to his many fans that follow him on his blog.

Admittedly, he prefers LA to NYC, but we hope after feeling the love, he’ll be back soon. Not sure what is in the water in Switzerland, but he hasn’t aged a day since 2006. He is working on a new fragrance, Dark Mysterious Woods but expect the name to change. He is open to suggestions.

Wow–wish I could have been there for this event! Tauer’s story has always been inspirational to me and a testament to the power of word of mouth. I love a great deal of his scents. LDDM is a good overall staple, though I think the two more nuanced beauties to me are Une Rose Chypree and Zeta…though I honestly love Carillon Pour un Ange, the mythical Orris, and Une Rose de Kandahar so much too. Thanks for this draw. I live in the US.

  • I was actually just at Twisted Lily two weeks ago. Just missed this, darn!!! My favourite Tauer perfume is Carillon Pour un Ange. Again, gonna try and win this for my sister Janice in Seattle. Her favourite is Une Rose de Kandahar.

  • I’ve never been to Twisted Lily. I wish they’d open a branch in Chicago!

My holy grail of all fragrances is Andy Tauer’s Incense Rosé. It has ultimate pride of place in my collection.

I subscribe to Andy’s Facebook page, and I love to see his art. I think he should name the new fragrance Stazerwald in honor of his beloved Switzerland.

I am in the US, and I am dying to try this new Tauer fragrance!

  • A new Tauer fragrance is always cause for celebration. My favorite is Dark Passage,, a limited edition patchouli scent he did as part of the Women’s movie series kickstarter campaign. It was gorgeous! I also love Miriam from that series. I have purchased from Twisted Lily. They have many hard to find brands, and often run great sample with purchase deals. I wish I lived closer to New York! I am in the USA and thank you for the draw.

My favorite Tauer perfume remains LADDM thought Une Rose de Kandahar is close second. I can attest to the fact Andy really communicates closely with fans and followers of his work. I have been to Twisted Lily just once because I mostly do my perfume shopping online. I am in the US

  • My favorite fragrances from Tauer are L’air du Desert Morocain and Incense Rose.

I have been at Twisted Lily several time. Great store, great staff and great products.

    Thank you! USA

  • I heard that Andy is the nicest guy and I am a big fan of his perfume. Lately I have been wearing Lonestar Memories.
I do shop online at TW and they always include samples.
It is nice to put faces behind the owners.

  • My favorite Tauer is Le Maroc Pour Elle, though LADDM is a close second. I shop at Twisted Lily via internet, and their customer service is wonderful. One of these days I will pay them a visit in person. I’m in the US and thanks for the draw!

  • I really like Rose Flash. Even my dentist commented on it. I visited Twisted Lily for the first time this summer. I will be returning.

  • I have visited Twisted Lily two months ago. What a great place. Not only does it smell amazing when you walk in, but the customer service is wonderful! Thanks for the great experience!
My favorite Tauer perfume is LADDM.
    I’m in the U.S.

  • My favorite Tauer Perfume is Cologne du Maghreb, but I have not yet had the pleasure of shopping at Twisted Lily.

  • I think it’s great that Andy Tauer makes himself so accessible to those who love his fragrances – a real example to follow! My favorite is Une Rose de Kandahar, but I also enjoy Vanilla Flash and really want to test LADDM. Twisted Lily is on my list of ‘pilgrimage’ places for my next trip to NYC! I’m in the US.

  • My fave Tauer is Lonestar Memories. I do shop at Twisted Lily (online)!

Thanks for the draw. I am in the US

  • My favorite is Incense Flash! I’ve perused Twisted Lily online, but would love to visit in person. I’m in the US, thanks!

  • My favorite Tauer is Dark Passage though LADDM is a close second! I’ve perused Twisted Lily online, but would love to visit in person. I *need* to try Vanilla Flash and now this new one too! It’s great that Andy Tauer makes himself so accessible in person and on his blog. And it’s great that VF comes in a small size–much easier to buy unsniffed.

    I’m in the US, thanks!

  • It’s hard to pick just one favorite from Andy Tauer, but I definitely LOVE L’air du desert Marocain. I’ve ordered samples from Twisted Lily, but I’ve yet to get a full bottle from them. Soon though! Thanks for the draw. US here.

  • I agree that it’s hard to pick a favorite, because he is such a master creator. My first was L’air Desert du Marocain and probably the only fragrance that my hubby actually ever made the connection to “me” wearing. I wore that one for a really long time. I do also like Le Maroc pour Elle which I happen to be wearing today. His Gardenia is also gorgeous! Andy’s artwork is also great. I’d love to sample this creation, Dark Mysterious Woods. I have shopped online at Twisted Lily. Thanks as always for the opportunity. I’m registered and in US.
