14 Sexy Scents for Valentine’s Day + Fragrances of Attraction Draw

Artist Jarek Puczel

What is a sexy scent? Ask ten different people and you will get ten different answers. Is it a fragrance that draws attention? Is it a perfume that makes you lean in a little closer to the one you love (or lust for)? Or is it one that you dab on and you feel more confident? This Valentine’s Day, we are re-defining “sexy.” There are no rules; it just has to have that ‘wow’ effect on you, on your partner’s skin or in your room. Our Editors and Contributors have very different ideas about what a sexy perfume is…but it is all about smelling wonderful.

Andi Garbi 1995 Self Portrait

I am led to scents that cause the hairs on the back of my neck to stand on end.  One of my collection that never fails to draw curious onlookers is Rubj extrait, from Vero Profumo, Created by Vero Kern in 2008.  They are distracted and beguiled, it is a weave of raw potency with a blatancy that takes people by surprise.  No mistaking its intention, no sugar coating of flirty seductions, it means business. An aroma of explicit ecstasy spread like a weighted haze, lost for a time to the world in the earthy subtlety of vibrant flesh.  Hot wooden shutters draw the scented air into the sanctity within.  Bedding infused with the wafted remnants of visceral intimacy. An encapsulation of microcosms of pleasure flushes of rouge tints, imperceptible flow in movement, and beyond the Flamenco skirts, the scent of a single rivulet of sweat on an inner thigh, the precise aroma of the point of contact. –Danu Seith-Fyr, Contributor

You can’t talk to me about sexy without mentioning Etienne de Swardt, and who else could come up with a perfume too alluring to wear outside your own home? I bought Archives 69 blind, completely unable to resist the name and ad copy of a perfume signed by Christine Nagel.  I wore it out to dinner the day it came in the mail, and got propositioned outside the ladies room. The next time I wore it, the guy pumping gas next to me paid me a very sincere and completely inappropriate compliment. The last time I wore it in public, one of my co-workers told me he was having trouble concentrating. To my nose, Archives 69 is warm and sweet and juicy. Apparently, many men agree. M. de Swardt is a devil and a genius.

Smoky smoldering spice bombs speak my Love Language, and they always have; Opium (Jean Amic and Jean-Louis Sieuzac for Yves Saint Laurent, 1977) was the first perfume I bought with my own (babysitting!) money. My first boyfriend liked it so much he bought me a new bottle for our first Valentine’s Day together. We’re now closing in on our third decade of marriage, and this sexy, spicy classic still turns us both on. Don’t be stingy, ladies; this one smells fantastic on men! My husband’s skin really amps up the incense, smoke and sandalwood; on me, its carnations and spice and everything nice. I prefer the extrait on both of us; there’s nothing sexier than having to lean in close to experience all the best parts.  I’ve got 5 back-up bottles to get me through 30 more Valentine’s Days! Cupids Arrows Leon Bazile Perrault

For Valentine’s Day I always love to wear a fragrance that will coat cupid’s arrow, and shoot straight through the heart of my spouse! For a rose-centric perfume (because roses are synonymous with love) I’d pick Stephan Humbert Lucas 777 gorgeous and compelling  Rose De Petra (2013), always a compliment getter, and one of the few perfumes that finds my spouse’s nose glued to my neck, a very fine thing indeed. It’s Flat out liquid sex and a spicy floral easily worn by both men and women. For a super mysterious natural perfume with an Eastern vibe, I choose Green Tara (2011) by perfumer Serena Eva Goode for her company, Ava Luxe. This vegan, unisex dark and alluring always seems to get the blood flowing and the heart pumps. When you hear your spouse says “You smell delicious…” Whatever you choose to wear this Valentine’s Day, may it find you wafting love! -Robert Herrmann, Contributor

Mona do Orio Cuir (2010 Mona di Orio) is the perfume that garners tons of compliments whenever I pull it out. It’s dark, smoky, yet accessible. When I wear this it mingles the animalistic with a just the right amount of leather to make it daring and provocative. It oozes sensuality, conjuring images of romantic firelight and pure primal attraction.  Still, it can be worn just about any time.  But with romance on the mind, it’s a sure bet for me.

John Varvatos Dark Rebel Rider (2016 Rodrigo-Flores-Roux) reminds me of a  really nice guy  with a bad boy side; over the  button down shirt  he’s a subversive leather jacket wearing punk. It’s sweet, but with a pronounced dark and somewhat kinky side that simply piques “that” kind of interest.  Like Cuir, it’s another that can be worn casually, but is oh so very nice as an attraction tool. I gave my bottle to my partner Tim, it smells amazing on him.- Aaron Potterman, Contributor

Ermano by Ermano

After longtime of being single, the first Valentine I celebrated was a few years ago, and  I decided to get my partner a new perfume. So, I took some time before I chose one for him by rotating fragrances on myself to test the reactions. The favourite in the end was Diptyque L’Ombre dans l’eau, so I bought it, wrapped it and wrote a romantic rose themed handwritten card. Well, in the end it smelled so glorious, that everybody was complimenting my partner wearing. I seldom get compliments in general. I was even a bit jealous I must confess-Ermano Picco, Contributor

A sexy scent that gets me compliments is Tom Ford Private Blend Noir De Noir (2007, Harry Fremont). This is all about rose at first but then again the part that gets all the attention  is when it’s been on me for a while and the rose has somewhat worn off and the patchouli, vanilla and tuberose power through. I think also the saffron note has started kicking a little leathery touch. It’s when it’s all blended with my chemistry and I’ve sweated a little that it men and women notice-Sebastian Jara, Contributor

Sometimes “happy” is as sexy as “sultry”!  A bright smile, an irrepressible laugh and a joyful presence can be as attractive and irresistible as the steamy beauty of a femme fatale or the dark eroticism of the sexual vampire.  Ebullient happiness is what Anat Fritz Tzora brings to my life.  This lighthearted and joyfully unisex chypre was created in 2012 for knitwear designer Anat Fritz by the master of fragrance minimalism Geza Schoen.  Tzora, the perfume, was named for one of the designer’s favorite summer vacation destinations, the Kibbutz Tzora, 20 k from Jerusalem. The fragrance is packaged in a simple bottle and then tucked into what appears to be a handmade sock.  Every time I wear Tzora, people around me seem to be in a great mood, greeting me with big smiles on their faces and sparkles in their eyes.  I remember one morning I double spritzed Tzora before heading out on some errands.  I stopped by the office supply store for tape and bubble wrap and managed to pick up not only the supplies I needed but an entourage of six very helpful young men as well, each one determined to give me the best customer service on the planet. To make a long story short – this kind of thing only happens when I wear the bright peppers, the vivacious green herbs, the fresh florals, cassis and cedar that come together in Anat Fritz Tzora.

Now, for my seductive, dark beauty, Olympic Orchids Mardi Gras by Ellen Covey (2015). Mardi Gras is a skanky, humid, outrageous lady, replete with civet and honey, raunchy but with good manners, reminding me a bit of the New Orleans French Quarter.  This perfume works like magic.  Costumed in a polite, façade of natural, orange blossom and vanilla, Mardi Gras weaves a powerful, seductive spell, attracting just about everyone within range of her intoxicating presence!  My husband Brad loves Mardi Gras. So does our parrot Gomez, Fender the dog, the students, bank tellers, grocery clerks and even my children…I receive so many compliments when I wear this fragrance  – and so many Valentines too! Mardi Gras is a perfume with amazing longevity and the sillage of a “parfum de puta” – but with the deceptive “innocence” of a sultry southern beauty. -Gail Gross, Sr. Contributor

Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall To Have and Have Not

Around Valentine’s Day, the entire world seems painted in red and pink and full of fluffy, girly things, so buying a romantic gift for the man in your life is not always easy or intuitive. And while a candle may seem predictable and feminine, Belle Fleur NY’s Kyara Clove is perfect.  Created by perfume star Jerome Epinette, Kyara’s blend of layered woods and polished leather swirling around a fruity, smoky clove note is lush, mysterious and as warm as a just-left bed. The suggestive is always sexier than the literal. Give this candle to signal what comes after that Valentine’s dinner.

I was first intrigued by Hermes Bel Ami because it was named for one of my favorite novels by de Maupassant, about a cad who sleeps his way up the social ladder while befriending the men he cuckolds. Created in 1986 by Jean-Louis Sieuzac,  Bel Ami is the James Mason of scents: a leathery, mossy, just slightly disheveled chypre that is elegant, dashing, sensual, and with a slight air of melancholy that makes it unbearably irresistible. There are muskier, butchier scents prowling the shelves of perfume shops than Hermes Bel Ami. But not one is more alluring on a well-dressed man. –Lauryn Beer, Editor

I have a pile of samples that I test on my boyfriend and truthfully most smell great on him, especially if tobacco, wood,  leather, incense and oud are in the mix. Add a little cognac and it’s the perfect scent storm. Tiziana Terenzi’s Laudano Nero (Paolo Terenzi 2014) is the fragrance that just happens to have all of the above and is subtly sweetened with a sublime boozy honey and dark golden amber that borders, but never crosses, into gourmand territory. I ask him to wear it for me and me alone. It’s dark and sexy in the best possible way. Traces of scent linger on his pillow, on my skin and distract me throughout the day. –Michelyn Camen, Editor-in/Chief

  • I thi k even choices are amazing! I would choose Laudano Nero, Orio Curi and Dark Rebel!!! I think they are all great choices, my choice for Valentine’s Day would be Tom Ford Black Orchid!

  • Good variety of selections! Absolutely coveting Rubj, Rose de Petra, and Mardi Gras – but since they’re not all available, I would choose Olympic Orchids Mardi Gras, which sounds so sexy!

I won’t be doing anything special for Valentine’s, though perhaps I will choose a romantic perfume for the day, like MCG Rrose Selavy. “Sexy” smells like… smoky leather, rich musks, jasmine, spice. I live in the US.

  • As an owner of both Vero Profumo Rubj, Voile and extrait, and vintage YSL Opium edt, I can see and feel the raw sex appeal. That to me makes a fragrance sexy; a primitive instinct. Should I win I would love to have Mardi Gras, which seems to be just the thing for Valentine’s, which I’m spending by myself at home. I live in Spain, EU.

  • I’m coveting Tom Ford Noir de Noir: to me is a very sexy fragrance… it’s rose and chocolate-like patchouli can’t help but remind me of Valentine’s Day. I do have a small sample and would one day like a full bottle. I plan on spending Valentine’s Day with my husband, as we usually do, by going to a nice dinner and for drinks afterwards. Sexy, to me, smells sweet, dark and mysterious. Sexy is also when someone wears their scent with confidence… it’s sexy when people know who they are and what they like. If I win my choices would be:

WORLDWIDE: Mona di Orio Cuir 75 ml
USA ONLY: Tiziana Terenzi Laudano Nero 50 ml
USA ONLY: Belle Fleur NY Kyara Clove Candle 210 g

I live in the USA. Thanks for the fun draw!

  • For me, the most sexy smell is vanilla in almost every version possible. I have many fond memores of Opium which was one of my first luxurious fragrances years ago. Rubj and Noir de Noir also sound great (haven’t tried them).
If I am lucky enough to win, I would love Cuir or Mardi Gras.

Thank you for so generous draw and Happy Valentine’s Day!

  • Thank you for so interesting article. In my perception the sexiest ones from your choices are L’Ombre Dans L’Eau and Cuir. I have my own “sexy” list in which the first prize goes to good old Delice d’Epices by Nina Ricci. I am going to spend Valentine’s Day with my family, bakind an apple pie and smelling like one. Thank you for the draw – I would choose Cuir by Mona di Orio or Archives 69 by ELdO. Greetings from Norway!

  • What a fantastic article. I particularly like hearing stories about how different people react to the sexy perfume the reviewers wear, so fascinating. I’m definitely coveting Noir de Noir because I have heard so much about it, but based on the review I am coveting Mardi Gras, Archives 69, and Rubj just because they sound SO sexy. If I won, I would choose ELDO Archives 69, Olympic Orchids Mardi Gras, Mona di Orio Cuir, Nero, Dark Rebel, and the Clove Candle. On Valentine’s Day I plan to go on a dinner “date” with a good friend of mine. Sexy to me is spicy, and sweet floral, with a depth to the floral notes that makes it irresistible, usually with musks. I am in the USA. Happy Valentine’s Day!

  • Hmm what is sexy I think it’s body chemistry and s mindset. I really liked how it wasn’t just about what fragrance smelled on the writer but on their spouses. Since I love oud, cognac and leather Laudano Nero sounds wonderful as does Olympic orchids and I think my son would love Dark Rebel Rider. I live in the USA and this Valentine’s Day we will celebrate on Saturday and get a sitter

  • My favorite sexy perfume is 100% Love. Clean laundry hung on a line and wild roses are also my favorites. Rose de Petra sounds divine. This is an extravagant draw! I would choose Olympic Orchids Mardi Gras. I live in the US.

  • What smells sexy to me is when my husbands and my scents mingle together and get along great! I am coveting Rubj and Archives 69. I would love to win Mona d’Orio Cuir, ELdO’s Archive 69, or the Olympic Orchids’ Mardi Gras. I am in the US.

  • Bryan Christopher says:

I like most of the choices presented, although how I visualize their scents is different. We both have work in Valentines Day, but I organized a flower delivery to her office and have her drag me to watch a movie later. Sexy smells like amber / balsam with fruity notes. Its sweet but not sickeningly sweet, alluring but has character to separate it from the crowd. I live in the USA and would want to win any of the ff: a. 50 ml Etat Libre D’Orange Archives 69, b. 15 ml Olympic Orchids Mardi Gras c. Mona di Orio Cuir 75 ml d. Tiziana Terenzi Laudano Nero 50 ml. Thanks!

  • Thanks for the very interesting topic. I believe nobody can define sexy in the perfume world. Different ideas come from different tastes and memories. Memories mixed with perfume are so strong and will be engraved for years in our brains and will be refreshed with smelling that perfume again.
I will be with my wife for Valentines day and my choices will be Tobacco Vanille or Plum Japonaise. I am coveting Nior de Noir, Bel Ami and Dark rebel Ryder. I would love to win Cuir, laudano Nero and Etat Libre D`orange.

  • I loved this feature. It’s so great to see everyone’s favorites!!! We all have different favorite notes, likes and dislikes in fragrances, and even different sniffing sensors in our noses. It’s a wonderful collection that you’ve out together. L’Ombre dans L’Eau is one I find the sexiest on me, but I haven’t tried nearly all of these. I would LOVE Mona di Orio Cuir or Tiziana Terenzi Laudano Nero for my husband. I’ll be with my family on Valentine’s Day! In the USA. Thank you for the draw!

  • I haven’t found a perfume yet that is sexy to me. I think sexy is a state of mind. I very much agree that “Sometimes ‘happy’ is as sexy as ‘sultry’!” And there are both happy and sultry fragrances. The only time I liked Valentine’s Day was when
I was a young girl and my father would give me chocolates and a funny card. I would chose:
15 ml Olympic Orchids Mardi Gras – covet this one
Belle Fleur NY Kyara Clove Candle
    USA

  • Patrick Echevarria says:

I am deeply intrigued and covets owning Tiziana Terenzi Laudano Nero,Mona do Orio Cuir and JV Dark Rebel. Such a generous Valentines Day giveaways! from San Diego here!

  • Oooo…I covet 777 Rose de Petra and I am so curious about Green Tara–I’ve never heard of this fragrance. To me, a perfume is sexy when it mixes alchemically with skin and glows, radiates, shimmers. I will be going to dinner with my husband for V Day and wearing my new red dress…perhaps also wearing Papillon’s Salome 🙂 If I win I would love Mardi Gras or Laudano Nero. Thanks for the great reviews–have some new samples to order! Happy Love Day!

  • Among the ones mentioned in the article, I have and love Yves St. Laurent Opium (multiple bottles of vintage in my collection), Tom Ford Noir de Noir, Hermes Bel Ami (one of favorites) and Diptyque L’Ombre dans l’eau.

To me, there is no def. definition of sexy. I believe a person’s personality best defines what scent may be sexy on him/her. My choices for this draw would be:

    Mona di Orio Cuir
    Tiziana Terenzi Laudano Nero

    I am in the US.

  • I have been coveting L’Ombre dans L’Eau and some Opium that smells the way it did 20 years ago, and I can’t believe that I still haven’t tried Rubj. I must remedy that. Also coveting Gail’s dog Fender.

I’ll be spending Valentine’s Day in a cloud of vintage Estée Lauder Knowing, and may throw caution to the wind and treat myself to half a glass of wine or a piece of dark chocolate. (Stupid sensitive stomach!)

If I win, I’d love Etat Libre d’Orange Archives 69, Olympic Orchids Mardi Gras, or Tiziana Terenzi Laudano Nero (because a girl can dream). I’m in the US, and thank you, for the sexy roundup and the drawing.

  • Honestly, I really don’t know how have to smell a sexy scent. I think a sexy person make his/her scent sexy. But I very agree about that that a seductive and sexy person could be more seductive and sexy if he/her wear a very good perfume. Unfortunately, I have not tried any perfume from the list.
If I would be as lucky to win, I would be very glad if I would win either of these:
    – Mona di Orio Cuir 75 ml
    – Etat Libre D’Orange Archives 69
    – 15 ml Olympic Orchids Mardi Gras
Thank you for the chance. I live in Europe.

  • Who can define sexy in a fragrance? I have particular perfumes in almost every category that happen to be sexy to me, from the fluffiness candy scent to the darkest and most animalic. I loved reading about everyone’s favorites and it put a few ideas in my head (like forcing some L’Ombre dans L’eau on my spouse). We don’t really do Valentine’s Day, but usually celebrate the day before as it’s a special date for us. I’m coveting Rose de Petra and Anat Fritz and would love to win Mardi Gras or Archives 69. I’m in the US. Thanks!

  • Hikmat Sher Afridi says:

Thanks for the article. Sexy scent is a fragrances that smell wonderful, having pleasant effect, appealing to others & attract opposite sex. All the 14 selections are great and perfect for such occasion. I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day as my everyday is Valentine when I am at home with my wife, hahahahaha. I envy to Ava Luxe Green Tara, Stephan Humbert Lucas 777 Rose de Petra, Tom Ford Noir de Noir and Anat Fritz.
Thanks for the draw and opportunity. If I am among the winner, my choices are: 1)Olympic Orchids Mardi Gras 2)Mona di Orio Cuir 3)Etat Libre D’Orange Archives 69
    Peshawar, Pakistan

  • Sexy is an attitude how you feel but I must admit I feel more confident wearing a great perfume. I would love to win archives 69 from the list and laudano Nero with all that incense and tobacco
    USA reader
Great selections and some surprises like diptyque

  • It’s always interesting to me to learn how people conceptualize ‘sexiness’, because in truth it’s such an individual thing and usually out of sync with what Western society presents it as, and I think this article reflects that – I’m glad happiness was mentioned a few times. Confidence is sexy, and I think any perfume that makes you feel that way will also add to your sex appeal. I’ll have to go look into that Anat Fritz one, it sounds so cool! If I win the draw I would choose Mona di Orio Cuir or Ellen Covey’s Mardi Gras! I live in Canada, thanks!

  • Nice choices! I share my love with Tammy Schuster for the spicy bomb Opium, I wish I also had so many bottles but a new 100ml vintage edt and 1 extrait can be enough when I have so many bottles, but…… I wouldn’t mind another one 😉
I spend Valentine’s day as a normal day and I celebrate love alwaya I can, surprises can arrive any day and I prefer unexpected ones.
If I win, I would like
    1- Mona di Orio Cuir
    2-Mardi Gras of Olympic Orchids

    I am in Europe. Thanks!

  • I like the list, but I usually prefer more weirdly different scents [not like Etat ones, but just having everything differ greatly]. I like the contrast of scents you don’t expect, like wearing Diptyque Figuier spray instead of a ‘sweet’ perfume [when it would be expected] or wearing something odd instead of a typical men’s scent etc. It’s so hard to pick when you want something unique but not super weird.

I love the description of Tzora!! It sounds amazing. I once sold some vintage Opium perfume without smelling it and regret it LOL! I was young then. On Val’s day I usually give out little boxes of candy and have a day of luxury, be it sushi and buying jewelry etc. I think treating yourself is the way to go! You can’t wait for someone to read your mind, you have to get what you want fast, lol.

I think sexy would smell just unique, and good. So whatever scent works really well on someone in particular. I think the ‘usual cliches’ are not actually good smelling, usually.

I’m in the USA and would want to try Tzora [Anat Fritz], or Archives 69, or any others really, they all sound unique from the reviews [I like to try and see if I can smell what other people get from scents].

  • I love that this list isn’t all pink fluff!! I’ve come to abhor the staleness of Valentines Day aesthetics so this list is a nice bit of fresh air! And I like my perfumes to have a dark edge, so several on this list are right up my alley too.

I’d love to enter for these:

    1. Mona di Orio Cuir
    2. olympic Orchids Mardi Gras

  • I’m afraid i can’t say much about the 14 choices because I only am sure I smelled one on the list. But I am coveting the Laudano Nero by Tiziana Terenzi. USA

    Enter for:
    1. Laudano Nero by Tiziana Terenzi
    2. ELdO’s Archive 69

  • Great list! I love how Michelyn described Laudano Nero.
What does “sexy” smell like to me? My husband’s smell. Not his cologne or b/o anything like that it’s more like. His scent. I don’t even know how to describe it.

We are going to go to the cinema:)

I live in Europe and my choices would be:
    Mona di Orio Cuir
    Etat Libre D’Orange Archives 69

Thank you for the another awesome draw!

  • I think its such a great post because there is no one answer to sexy scent. I hate roses which no way smells sexy and like more leather, incense fragrances. Of the list I covet RUBJ and Laudano Nero, so I would love to win Laudano Nero, Kyara Clove candle and EDlO Archives 69 which sounds interesting too
    USA

  • I enjoyed reading everyone’s choice. I own Noir de Noir (Sebastian’s choice) and know Opium, Bel Ami and Cuir. I’d like to try Rose Petra the most from the ones I don’t know, I find it appealing. We won’t be doing much for Valentine’s Day as we have a 3 months beautiful baby boy.
For me, one of the sexiest perfumes I know is Rien by Etat Libre d’Orange, I find it drop dead gorgeous and smells of hot flesh 🙂
What I’d love to win from the draw is Mona’s Cuir, another gorgeous scent.
    I live in Europe.

  • From the list metioned I only have smelled a few fragrances before. My idea of a sexy fragrance would probably be an animalic fragrance. I’d love to win Mona di Orio Cuir or Olympic Orchids Mardi Gras. I live in EU. Thank you for this draw!

  • Great review.

    Sexy means fresh and strong.

    My choices are:

    Mona di Orio Cuir
    Olympic Orchids Mardi Gras
    Etat Libre D’Orange Archives 69

Hello from Canada. Thanks for the chance.

  • Sexy scent is what my husband wears. Anything mixed with his own scent smells great 🙂
Thank you for the draw. I would love to win Cuir, Mardi Gras or Archives 69. EU.

  • I find vanilla, spices and musk more sexy than other notes. I agree Bel Ami, Opium, Tom Ford Noir de Noir are extremely sexy. I believe Rubj can also be a perfect Valentine’s Day fragrance, although i can only imagine what it smells like (and my imagination says it’s beautiful).
My picks are Mona di Orio Cuir, Olympic Orchids Mardi Gras or Etat Libre d’Orange Archives 69.
I live in Poland, EU. Thank you for your generosity.

  • Felt like I was being drawn in on a long line while I ghad to imagine all the scents- such evocative descriptions! I mean imagine….”Etienne de Swardt, and who else could come up with a perfume too alluring to wear outside your own home?” Deep and warm and musky are sensual….I’m throwing my money on Mona di Orio Cuir 75 ml..the dark smokiness appeals…its going to be an amazing Valentines for some people…<3 <3
Lovely you've included the world, thanks everyone for the contributions, generous and thoughtful. I'm in NZ and registered

  • The variety and breadth of the fragrances listed foes to show that there is something for everyone. In my personal experience, I have found that gourmands are the most appealing. I covet Mardi Gras! I will be working on the 14th and live in the US.

  • WOW..such a nice and sexy list.
The ones that moved me were: Rubj and Stephan Humbert Lucas 777 Rose De Petra (2013), both off these shows passion.

But as they are not in the list I like the following:

    Tiziana Terenzi Laudano Nero
    Mona di Orio Cuir
    Etat Libre D’Orange Archives

  • Such an interesting article. I’d probably covet all of them if I could, but from the ones on the list, it would be Tiziana Terenzi Laudano Nero, Etat, Libre D’Orange Archives69, and the Mardi Grasby Olympic Orchids. Thanks for the draw. I live in the USA

  • After reading Lauryn Beers paragraph on Hermes Bel Ami that’s the one I am coveting now. 🙂 For the draw I’d be grateful to win the ELdO Archives 69 or the Tiziana Terenzi Laudano Nero or the MdO Cuir. U.S.

  • So helpful review! I’m looking for a sexy fragrance for my husband and Bel Ami sounds like a dream!
After work we are going to order a pizza and watch some old romantic movies.
    I’d love to win:
    Tiziana Terenzi Laudano Nero
    Etat Libre D’Orange Archives
    Mona di Orio Cuir

    Thanks! In the USA

  • Tom Ford’s Noir De Noir is one of my all time favs! Talk about seductive. Makes me feel like a million bucks every time I wear it. As for my selections, I’d love any of:

    Cuir
    Mardi Gras
    Archives 69

I’m in Canada and thanks for the draw!

  • All of these sound sexy. I’m going to spend Valentine’s Day alone because work will have me in Chicago that week, and my boyfriend is in Boston. But we’ll make up for it the weekend before and after.
    My choices are:
    Etat Libre D’Orange Archives 69
    Tiziana Terenzi Laudano Nero

I live in the U.S. Thank you!

  • I love reading about which fragrances others find sexy and romantic. For me, it’s usually about leather and smoke. But this roundup made me intrigued to search out vintage Opium and Bel Ami.
I’m spending Valentine’s Day in Sao Paulo. Valentine’s Day isn’t celebrated in Brazil until June. But I will watch old pre-code movies and wear some vintage Miss Dior.
    my choices would be:
    Mona di Oro Cuir
    Etat Libre D’Orange Archive
    Olympic Orchards Mardi Gras
    I live in the USA.

  • What I found interesting was the masculine scents were favored. My dad wears Bel Ami and I showed him the review and he loved the reference to James Mason.Sexy scents make you feel fantastic especially if your wife notices!my choices are dark rebel rider, Mardi Gras, cuir, and I really would love to win that laudano Nero
    USA registered

  • I regret I haven’t tried most of your choices. I am sure I would like Laudano Nero and Rubj. I have tried Dark Rebel and this is a scent in which I can feel strenght and confidence, which are often perceived as sexy.
My plans for Valentine’s Day are: gifts for and from my girlfriend and a bottle of good wine.

My choice would be Mona di Orio Cuir. I live in the EU, thanks!

  • I agree about the sexiness of Opium, although I am not sure what exactly “sexy” means for me. If my sexy perfumes have something in common, it would probably be spices.
I’d like to win Olympic Orchids Mardi Gras , Mona di Orio Cuir or ELdO Archives 69. I live in Europe, thank you for the draw.

  • I am sure I would like Laudano Nero and Rubj, will have to try these.
I am of the opinion that its ur personality that is sexy but a nice scent certainly adds to the charm.

I would love to win Tiziana Terenzi Laudano Nero,Mona di Orio Cuir , Etat Libre D’Orange Archives 69

    In USA.

  • Wow, they all sound so sexy! I’m the US and would love to try any of these:
    Archives 69
    Dark Rebel
    Laudano Nero
    Mona di Oro Cuir

  • Sexy scents to me are the kind that make your head turn and you dreamily just enjoy the fragrant moment. They kind of stop you in your tracks. They can be either sweet/gourmand or citrusy or floral. To me, it’s not one kind of note that does it but rather the chemistry at play with those notes. I’d like to try the Archives 69, the Olympic Orchids Mardi Gras, or the John Varvatos Dark Rebel. The Belle Fleur NY candle also sounds wonderful. I love scenting the air as well. thank you – I’m in the US and registered.

  • Love the story about Tzora! I see happy fragrances as sexy in the same way I see dresses with low cut backs- it’s this subtle kind of sexy, that just oozes confidence. For the draw my choices are Olympic Orchids Mardi Gras or Tiziana Terenzi Laudano Nero.

I don’t do anything special for Valentine’s. The real celebration for me is hitting up the all discount chocolates on the 15th! 🙂

  • I divorced 2 years ago after almost 20 years of marriage, and with be spending V Day with my greyhounds !!!!!

I couldn’t get past the description of Archives 69 !!!! Thankfully, as I am Canadian, this choice is worldwide.

  • I like Sebastian’s choice. Noir De Noir is also my “sexy” scent. It’s the only perfume that women have complimented when I’ve been wearing it, and it was happening almost every day.
I’m going to spend Valentine’s Day with my wife, I’ll make make a romantic meal for her.

I live in Europe and my choices are:
    Etat Libre D’Orange Archives 69
    Mona di Oro Cuir

    Thanks! Happy Valentine’s Day!!

  • cinnamon tree says:

I like the choice of L’Ombre Dans L’Eau as a sexy Valentine’s Day fragrance. This is my kind of sexy fragrance – fresh and flowery green, not too heavy.
I’d pick Archives 69 or Cuir.
I am in the EU. Thank you for the draw and Happy Valentine’s Day!

  • When I hear or read about Mona di Orio’s Cuir, I can feel my heart beating faster. This is the prettiest leather fragrance I have ever smelled and my favorite from this house… and one of the most sexy fragrances I can imagine. I will spend Valentine’ Day eating chocolate, smelling Cuir from my sample and dreaming about winning this draw.
I think you’ve already guessed that my choice would be Cuir. Thank you for your generosity! I live in the EU.

  • Very interesting choices! As a vintage lover, I agree especially about Opium and Mardi Gras, they both have animalic, sensual, almost indecent note.
My plans for the 14th include a romantic dinner in a nice restaurant and fragrant gifts for each other.
Happy Valentine’s Day! I live in Europe and my choices are Olympic Orchids Mardi Gras or Mona di Orio Cuir.

  • Noir de Noir is an absolute beauty. It was a favorite from the first smell. Michelyn’s pic though is so deep, rich and just ohhhhhhh so good. Plan on spending Valentine’s Day at a nice steakhouse with a nice bottle of wines and my love. Sexy smell is just freshly showered and no scent but your own. My first choice is Tiziana Terenzi Laudano Nero, then Mona di Orio Cuir, Varvatos Dark Rebel and Archives 69. In the USA. Thank you.

  • For me,Tom ford Noir de noir is sexy as is baccarat rouge by Mfk. I will choose one of those tomorrow with my husband.
I think all the writers made each perfume sexy. My picks are Mardi Gras, cuir, lauando Nero and archives 69

  • I recently tried two fragrances that I thought rather sexy, in different ways: Ginestet Botrytis and Gucci Premiere. The former for being aggressive and lusty and the latter a magnetic draw. Of the options given in this review, I would appreciate sampling the ELDO or the Olympic Orchids offer. I am currently without a love 🙁 so I will be spending V Day alone with my kids. I live in the US.

  • I enjoyed reading about New Orleans, a city I was lucky to spend 2 days in and discovered it wasn’t enough time. 5 years later I am still longing to go back. I’m longing for Diptyque L’ombre d’leau, it is on my list for next purchase once Nordstrom does GWP. I think my sexiest scent from my collection is Tauerville Rose. I will be spending Valentines day working and then carpooling for a volleyball fund raiser and practice. I hope everyone has a much better plan than I do. I would love to win Mona di Orio Cuir, Archives 69 or Mardi Gras. Thanks for the draw. I live in the US.

  • I admire how many shades of sexy you mentioned in the article. My own definition of a sexy scent is something a little sweet, oriental, ambery or leathery. Rubj or Opium or MdO Cuir or de Noir are sexy as hell.
I live in Europe and I would love to be the lucky winner of Cuir by Mona di Orio. Thanks a lot! Happy Valentine’s Day!

  • The perfume being sexy is the matter of attitude, just like music – for some good old Bauhaus sounds sexy, for other’s it’s unimaginable. Out of the reviewed scents the Vero Profumo Rubj and Mona di Orio Cuir fall exactly into those categories. Both are masterpieces, both can be sexy, and IMHO not everyone can pull it.

How I spend a Valentine’s Day is not for a public comments. 😉 Greetings from Switzerland!

  • So happy you mentioned Hermes Bel Ami. It’s my father’s favorite perfume. Really good and rich.
Since I am currently single and not dating anyone, I will be doing nothing on Valentine’s Day.

    My picks:
    Mona di Orio Cuir
    Etat Libre D’Orange Archives 69
    Tiziana Terenzi Laudano Nero

Thank you for the draw! USA

  • I rarely think of perfumes in terms of “sexy”, it’s rather “do I feel good wearing it today or not?”. According to this, my Valentine’s Day scent is Diorissimo today. Is it sexy? I think it’s different than most of your choices on the list but I feel confident and comfortable in it and I really like it.
I’d like to win Archives 69 or Cuir. Thank you for the draw and greetings from Norway.

  • Thank you for so very interesting reviews. My favorite was the one about Tzora, the fragrance I have not heard about before: “Every time I wear Tzora, people around me seem to be in a great mood, greeting me with big smiles on their faces and sparkles in their eyes. I remember one morning I double spritzed Tzora before heading out on some errands. I stopped by the office supply store for tape and bubble wrap and managed to pick up not only the supplies I needed but an entourage of six very helpful young men as well, each one determined to give me the best customer service on the planet.” I will be happy to find one day a fragrance which will work in the same way for me! Being single, I spent today’s special day mostly working and then having a quick drink with my – also single – friends.

A sexy fragrance is what attracts others – in my case, other men, and what makes me feel attractive.

    My choices are:
    Mona di Orio Cuir
    Olympic orchids Mardi Gras
    Etat Libre d’Orange Archive 69

Thank you for the draw! I live in EU.

  • I haven’t tried so many from your list but I absolutely love L’Ombre dans L’Eau and Mona di Orio Cuir (at first I didn’t like the latter but with time I have grown up to love it).
It is so difficult to decide what makes the perfume sexy, I guess it is the combined impression of the scent and the person.
I would choose Mona di Orio Cuir or ELDO Archives 69. I’m in the EU, thanks for your generosity!

  • All choices are beautiful, but I love the sound of Noir De Noir the most!
I think dark and mysterious scents with roses and patchouli are sexy.

    Valentine’s Day=Chocolate Day for me.

    I live in the US and my choices would be;
    Laudano Nero by Tiziana Terenzi
    ELdO Archive 69

  • I now have 14 more fragrances to add to my wish list (especially Diptyque L’Ombre dans l’eau). I hope to have a quiet, romantic dinner out with my hubby. I live in the US and “sexy” smells like Old Spice (or a smoky bar) to me. I would love to win the Belle Fleur NY Kyara Clove Candle, John Varvatos Dark Rebel or Tiziana Terenzi Laudano Nero.

  • I haven’t tried most of the fragrances in the drawing, but the description of Archives 69 certainly sounds appealing. I’m spending Valentine’s Day at home with my husband, and wearing Fifi by Fifi Chachnil extrait, which I find sexy. I’m in the US, and my choices would be Mona di Orio Cuir, Olympic Orchids Mardi Gras, Etat Libre d’Orange Archives 69, Laudano Nero, or the Belle Fleur NY Kyara Clove Candle. Thanks and happy Valentine’s Day!

  • Great choices. Black Opium to me is the definition of a sexy fragrance. I hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day!

    I’d love any of

    Cuir
    Mardi Gras
    Archives 69

I’m a Canadian reader and thanks for the draw.

  • As usual, great choices! I agree that Opium is super sexy. The whole oriental family just screams romance to me! The scents I’ve been coveting out of these are Rose De Petra, Cuir, Mardi Gras, L’Ombre dans l’eau, Kyara Clove, and Laudano Nero. So many excellent choices!

I live in Canada and would love to win:
WORLDWIDE: Mona di Orio Cuir 75 ml
WORLDWIDE 15 ml Olympic Orchids Mardi Gras
