If there is one word to describe Isaac Mizrahi’s personality and sense of style it would be FABULOUS. It’s also the name of his debut fragrance for women. He’s designed high end clothes,(as well as a great capsule line for Target), accessories and even housewares for thirty years (he also sang at a my ex boss’s son’s bar mitzvah and was a judge on Project Runway:All Stars). When it was announced that Mizrahi was launching a new fragrance my first thought was… what took him so long? (Fashionistas should check out his 1995 cult documentary Unzipped which documented the making of his Fall 1994 fashion collection featuring super models including Linda Evangelista, she of "I don't get out of bed for less than $10,000" fame).
FABULOUS was inspired by the vintage tuberose and bergamot perfume of his mom and was composed by Firmenich in collaboratiobn with the Cloudbreak Group with notes of mandarin, nectarine, jasmine, tuberose, freesia, peony, sandalwood, vanilla and cedar. It’s another fruity floral, but in a quote to Women’s Wear Daily he acknowledged that he has one chance to get it right. “I was really strong about the scent of jasmine. I just adore the scent of jasmine — and the peony. One of the fragrances I tried to develop early on was a peony fragrance, and it didn’t work. It just was very cloying after a while. You don’t notice things until you actually get what you want.”
A beauty line is also in the works.
FABULOUS by Isaac Mizrahi will retail for $78.00 (3.4 OZ) & $65.00 (1.7 OZ) and debut exclusively on QVC during their Fashion's Night Out event on September 6, 2012, and Bloomingdales stores nationwide.
