Top Ten Fragrances 2023

Photo by Hernando of the view from the Central Park Reservoir N.Y.C.

The sun is out, the beach beckons and you finally made the switch from sweaters to sandals. So how did we choose our co-curated top ten summer fragrances 2023? Each are unique takes on the citrus, fruity, fresh, floral and aquatic genres. Summertime is the right time for livelier perfumes with longevity. –Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

Parfum d’Empire Yuzu Fou (Marc-Antoine Corticchiato: To my nose Yuzu Fou (Crazy Yuzu) is very green and complex:  sweet, tart and is as energizing as high voltage vitamin C. I was able to discern mint which wasn’t used often in perfumery back then (2008) and earthy woody green notes (bamboo) and cedar. I reached out to Marc-Antoine Corticchiato about the inspiration for Parfum D’Empire Yuzu Fou: “I was inspired by today’s Japan, with its electro music, manga, high-tech, neon lights, etc. There is also a contradiction between hyper urban Japan, avant-garde, and the strong presence of nature in the middle of the city. It is very inspiring. Yuzu, the citrus fruit, is very fizzy, fusing, for me it evokes this pulsating Japan. I wanted a sparkling, crackling perfume, a freshness like no other” Notes include Japanese Yuzu, Bitter Orange, Mint, Kumquat, Lemon Verbena, Bamboo, Cedar; Neroli and White Musk. –Michelyn Camen

Escentric Molecules 01 M +mandarin (Geza Schoen): When the M+ series debuted in 2021, I gravitated right away to +mandarin. It adds such brightness to Escentric Molecules 01, and the mandarin smells all natural. It’s great to layer, I can smell it on myself and it always gets compliments. Here’s what Geza told me: “M +Mandarin is so alive, the radiation it creates on the skin and its fruity aroma, a stunning ingredient combined with Molecule 01. A top note ingredient like Mandarin and a base note like Iso E Super to dance together naked like this without other notes in between is rare.”-Michelyn

Navitus Aweigh (Jorge Lee): Creative Director is Steven Gavrielatos worked with Jorge Lee in Istanbul on Aweigh, a resolute composition featuring lavender, yuzu, mint, and incense. The meditative base is an exciting conclusion to this otherwise bright and luminous citrus composition inspired by Homer’s Odyssey. Notes: Calabrian Bergamot, Sicilian Mandarin, Grapefruit, Indian Ginger; Turkish RoseJasmine Sambac, Orchid, Tahitian Ylang  Madagascan VanillaTonkaSandalwood  Virginian Cedarwood  –Steven Gavrielatos, Video Contributor

Kelly + Jones Notes of Riesling Reserve (Christina Christie Senior Perfumer IFF): One of  my favorite movies of the past decade is Sideways. If you haven’t seen this multi-award winning film about two friends in their 40s (Paul Giamatti and Thomas Haden Church), they take a week road trip tour of Santa Ynez Valley wine country. Immediately upon first spray of Kelly and Jones Notes of Riesling Reserve, I try to remember if there was a Riesling winery in the movie (there should have been). It is one of my top ten summer fragrances because it ticks all the boxes of what I want in a warm weather perfume, energetic and easy- to-wear. The zest of lime and soft florals combine with a lusicous lychee note that adds just a hint of honied sweetness. There is elderflower, which adds an aromatic green, slightly musky floralcy. You may cabernet all day in the Fall/Winter, but you will want to waft Riesling in the warmer weather. –Michelyn

Neela Vermeire Creations Bombay Bling! (Bertrand Duchaufour): Indian born Creative Director Neela Vermeire in collaboration with Bertrand Duchaufour brings all the energy and color of a Bollywood extravaganza in this joyful genderless perfume that will make you feel like dancing in the streets. Bombay Bling has the most photorealistic mango note I have ever smelt, green and reminiscent of a mango lassi laced with cardamom. Blackcurrant and lychee join for a bright pop of fruitiness. Kaleidoscopic florals at the heart- rose, ylang-ylang, tuberose, frangipani, and gardenia waft in perfect harmony and fill the air as you are magically transported to a colorful, wet and fragrant flower market in India. The woody mix of sandalwood and cedar sweetened by vanilla adding sensuality and spice. If you are looking for one of the best summer fragrances… you have found it. Bombay Bling! is a celebration in a bottle. Notes include mango, lychee, blackcurrant, cardamom, cumin, cistus; rose accord, turkish rose, jasmine sambac absolute, madagascar ylang-ylang, white floral accord of tuberosefrangipanigardenia ,patchoulitobacco, white woods, sandalwood, cedarvanilla Michelyn

Disclosure: Steven was gifted by the brands. Michelyn received Yuzu Fou and M +Mandarin a while ago, all else were samples.

  • ramsesperez52 says:

Navitus is a house that has been on my radar for quite a bit and I’m dying to sample one of their fragrances. I agree with Michelyn in that The summer is the time for lovelier fragrances that are also long lasting, couldn’t agree more. I’d love to win the Navitus Aweigh bottle as it’s the one that sounds the most appealing to me and I love how it’s described as bright and luminous by both Steven and Michelyn. Cheers from NJ, USA.

  • Sorohan Adriana says:

I love touberose and when I see a touberose I want it! Touberose is my obsession! I am from EU

  • fragrancelove says:

Excellent list. I was specifically excited about molecule 1+mandarin because it adds that summer vibe to the molecule 1 making it alive. Steven seems to like it as well. Navitus Aweigh is also something I enjoyed reading about because of the lavender note. The mint and incense is something I love in perfume and Steven described it very well. Bombay Bling is the new one and I am dying to try that one. Bollywood bling with mango note is something amazing and Michelyn made me love it.

    USA
Interested in Bombay bling as number 1 choice

Molecule 1 mandarin and navitus Aweigh is also something I would love to try

  • Brad Woolslayer says:

I’ve been excited about Escentric Molecule 01 M+ Mandarin since it’s release. The original is amazing, but the addition of ginger and mandarin makes it sound even better. I live in Maryland USA.

  • My choice would be a 60ml bottle of Bombay Bling. I love the Neela Vermeire house, Neela Vermeire fragrances are so unique and stunning, they really stand out. Michelyn’s review was in my opinion packed with loads of interesting facts and details. Steven’s video review was really professional and helpful. I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU. I am an Instagram follower. My Insta name: insztagramekphoto

  • Dannon C Vick says:

I would be interested in the Molecule 02, Yuzu Fu and/or the Navitus.

I’m in Central Florida, USA so any of these would be great here this summer.

  • mr. Moneypenny says:

The Bombay Bling sounds so enticing, especially with that “most photorealistic mango note”, I’m so curious, so that’d be my choice. 🙂 I’m from EU and I do follow you on insta. 🙂

  • Bombay Bling would easily be my choice. Mango to stand out, cardamom for mass appeal, and florals with sandalwood to finish with a calm summery vibe. Much love from Indianapolis, IN.

  • lillian33 says:

The citrus explosion description of Navitus’ Aweigh sounds absolutely delectable for this summer. I have to sample! Would love to win from Ct USA!

  • castlemicro says:

Hello from Florida, and thanks to Michelyn and Steven for the reviews! I’m following your instagram from my account @castlemicro.
From the perfumes listed, I’m most interested in Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 + Mandarin and Neela Vermeire Creations Bombay Bling. From these reviews, they both seem very fun, flamboyant, and fresh — perfect for summer.

  • Bombay bling sound Amazing I tried a lot of summer fragrances but none of them never stands out for me. Bombay bing sounds amazing would love a chance to try it. Would love to be chosen to try out this fragrance and fingers crossed. Good luck to everyone. =)

  • What a great list of summer perfumes. Mango and Yuzu are two favorite notes for me. I love that Marc antoine Corticchiato was trying to capture modern Japan and Bombay bling modern india

Please enter for me for both
    USA

  • I had trouble figuring out which I’d prefer the most but ultimately, a poised and delicious wine would most likely be my favorite. Crossing my fingers for Kelly + Jones Notes of Riesling Reserve. In the USA!

  • I would love to win a bottle of Bombay Bling! Michelyn had me at “photorealistic mango note”. The notes of mango (which I love) with lychee, blackcurrent and ylang-ylang sound so refreshing for summer. Steven’s description of this fragrance by Neela Vermeire as one of the most amazing fragrances that he’s ever tried has me very intrigued. I follow on Instagram: candy_hxo. Cheers from NY, USA

  • Marc-Antoine’s sentiment of wanting “a freshness like no other” for Yuzu Fou reminds me of Pierre Bourdon’s similar intentions for Cool Water in the late 80s. Having sampled J-Scent’s Yuzu last summer, I can definitely see how the material could be used to produce a fizzy and effervescent effect. That one in fact, reminded my strongly of an asian soda that I had years back while travelling through the east. Always brings a smile to my face, so Yuzu Fou would be my pick. And I remember the movie Sideways! Very cool that Riesling Reserve has that association for you Michelyn. But I do have Aweigh and have to agree with the “meditative” aspect. On me, it’s a beautifully smooth yet sweet minty lavender that somehow reminds me of the sugary powder off of a stick of wrigley’s doublemint gum. lol Not kidding. Almost nostalgic. Steven bang on about the orange in M01+mandarin too. Very natural and organic. Haven’t smelled Bombay Bling, but his description sure making me want to!! Who doesn’t love a good tropical perfume in the summer heat eh? 🙂 IG: donilight

  • They all seem to be must trys for summer but the ones that I most want to try are Escentric Molecule and Yuzu Fou

  • I struggle to find summer fragrances that are fresh without being boring. Bombay Bling, however, sounds incredible! Joyful mango with spices, tropical flowers, tobacco and sandalwood sounds divine! I can tell Stephen liked this one and it being a Duchafor it’s a no brainer to be my pick. I follow on IG @flavasauce

I really like the top 10 summer fragrance I am going to go get some of this fragrance I am not big on the summer fragrance but after I read this Article I am going to try out all of this fragrance so thank you

  • Riesling wine itself is a total perfume effect for a drinker. With its floral, citrus aroma, it deserve to be an inspiration for a fragrance! I wouldn’t expect a boozy effect because of its reference from a wine type. It just is a great summer experience. I am very interested in wearing Riesling reserve eau de perfume for this summer!

    From New York

  • Both reviews were very informative especially Steven’s. Since Steven helped develop Aweigh that would be my first choice and Molecule 01 would be my second choice. I’m living the USA.

  • Wonderful picks Steven and Michelyn.Love Michelyn’s introduction of Bombay Bling. The notes sound amazing definitely perfect for Summertime. Thank you for this Chance USA

  • Uncle1979 says:

It’s a bit too early for sandals imo…
    ☆ Parfum d’Empire Yuzu Fou
Big fan of AZIYADE , it smells like the Plum and Almonds Cardamom Tart , with fresh ginger i do on regular basis at my bakery, together with a little bit of incense. I had to buy a bottle .

“To my nose Yuzu Fou (Crazy Yuzu) is very green and complex: sweet, tart and and is as energizing as high voltage vitamin C”

The sweeter variety of Japanese Yuzu is called Yuko , it’s the most expensive one , together with Shishi Yuzu aka Lion Yuzu. After reading Michelyn take on the fragrance, and watching what Steven thinks, I imagined making Yuzu Cheesecake, with fresh mint leaves, drinking freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
☆ Escentric Molecules fragrances I use if I want to prolong the longevity of other perfumes, giving them some woody or fresh twist.
I wonder what kind of twist Escentric M+ Mandarin will give to my gourmands? Zesty qualities makes it so versatile and inviting. Of course it’s also Michelyn favorite one from the M series
☆ I have two Navitus Parfums , Vivamor and Serenade. Aweigh sounds very good coconut, zesty citruses, and incense
    ☆ Neela Vermeire Creations Bombay

“Bombay Bling with the most photorealistic mango note I have ever smelt, green and reminiscent of a mango lassi laced with cardamom.”

    Wow 🙂
Special gratitude to Michelyn for the culinary reference
I’m not sure what’s my favorite Neela Vermeire Bombay Bling, Mohur Extrait or Trayee. I own the sample set, and I ordered the two extra fragrance samples not included the set , Mohur Extrait and Niral from Luckyscent . I still need to get my hands on Nemus, Thyina and especially Purpureum.
Bombay Bling is simply gorgeous ,and being a Pastry Chef I work with mango every day, and I can say the fragrance, and the mango in it no doubt do smell natural, and realistic. I wouldn’t say green mango through, ripe mango is more likely. Mango and cardamom is a magical combination, in desserts and in Bombay Bling
I’ll be happy to win Neela Vermeire Creations Bombay Bling
I highly appreciate the culinary reference, and the giveaway campaign

  • Bombay Bling from Neela Vermeire Creations has been on my radar for quite some time. I love how Michelyn described it as a Bollywood extravaganza. It sounds festive and lively. Steven’s description as a tropical paradise evokes memories of holidays spent in the sublime locations. Bombay Bling sounds like the perfect scent for summer. I live in the US.

  • Bombay Bling is a genderless fragrance that represents the extravagance of Bollywood. Yuzu Fou by Parfum d’Empire has been around for many years and has lot of quirky citrus notes, among them Yuzu, a Japanese citrus fruit. My choices are Bombay Bling and Yuzu Fou. I am in US.

  • kusudamakitten98 says:

This collection of fragrances all sound exciting! I am interested in Kelly + Jones Notes of Riesling Reserve and Neela Vermeire Creations Bombay Bling!

For Riesling Reserve, I liked that Steven described it as “smooth and elegant” fragrance; Michelyn’s description of the soft florals, musky elderflower, and honied lychee note of this easy summer scent made me want to try it as the weather gets warmer. For Bombay Bling!, mango is my favorite fruit so I am attracted to the “photorealistic mango note”, as well as the kaleidoscopic florals. Steven’s enthusiasm for the scent is also infectious; I want to experience it myself!

  • Jeremy Upshaw says:

I have to say, Bombay Bling! Even having such a storied profile of fruits and florals married together in a storybook scent, or Escentric +mandarins natural radiance – when Steven mentioned lime, coconut (okay I’m on board) …plus mint, PLUS incense (take my money) in Aweigh, it just spoke to me.
I don’t know that I could very well take anything else over Navitus Aweigh because I have a good feeling, that it would make me feel as if I was on my own Odyssey.
    Oklahoma, USA

  • Amazing reviews by Michelyn and Steven, thank you for introducing me to new perfumes ideal for summer!
Out of the ones mentioned, I’m intrigued by 2: Neela Vermeire Creations Bombay Bling! because of the most photorealistic mango note and Escentric Molecules 01 M +mandarin because the mandarin smells all natural.
    I’d choose Bombay Bling! 🙂

  • Scentsational Exchange says:

    Great article!
It was interesting to know that Steven personally worked on Navitus Aweigh (Jorge Lee). Lime and coconut with the addition of incense are my favorite notes. And I like that in many fragrances Yuzu figurates. It is something extraordinary in comparison with other citruses.
It’s fascinating to explore the curated selection of summer fragrances for 2023. Each fragrance Michelyn and Steven mentioned seems to offer a nice blend of notes, capturing the essence of citrus, fruity, fresh, floral, and aquatic genres. From the energetic and sparkling Yuzu Fou to the joyful and vibrant Bombay Bling!, these fragrances promise to add a touch of luxury and allure to the sun-soaked days of summer.

As for me, my choice is Neela Vermeire Creations Bombay Bling, as I love tropical atmosphere with mango, ylang-ylang, lychee, tobacco. Seems like a beautiful blend!

I am following @cafleurebonoffical`s Instagram, my name there is cousinlebleu.

    I live in EU, Germany.

  • AromaDulce73 says:

All the fragrances sound great. I would be fine with any of the 5 but if I had to pick one I would go for the Bombay Bling, “a celebration in a bottle”. Steven really hooked me in when he was explaining Bombbay Bling. I’m all for a fragrance that has tropical elements in them especially for the summer.

A very visual description I sm intrigued by the mango note. Steven description just highlights the need to try this house. I follow  @caflerubonofficial my id is amnaaziz5296@gmail.com. , m+ mandarin and Yuzy fou, Thanks a lot from the UK

  • Really great choice! As Michelyn points out is time for energetic and easy- to-wear perfumes with longevity. Longevity is a problem with a lot of citrus fragrances so only the best ones keep lingering in our skin. My preferred citrus, yuzu, is part of some of the chosen ones in this list. In 2008 yuzu was not as trendy as now but the genius Mr. Cortichiatto used in Yuzu Fou to bring out the vibrant Japan. Also the yuzu is present in Navitus Aweigh by Jorge Lee, but as Steven, the creative director of the scent, explains is the subtle tropical experience possible. Another great citrus like mandarin was the perfect dance partner to Iso-E-Super in the hands of Geza Schoen. Of course, Summer in Bombay is very different, so in the hands of Bertrand Duchaufour, one of my preferred perfumers and Steven´s as well, is an amazing color extravaganza with the best mango note to feel a tropical experience. As a riesling wine, Kelly + Jones Notes of Riesling Reserve is fruity, smooth and elegant. I live in Spain EU, and if I win I would choose Neela Vermeire Creations Bombay Bling or Parfum d’Empire Yuzu Fou . I follow Insta @cafleurebonoffical as Sonbahia

  • All the perfumes sound amazing, would love to try them out. But I am really torn between Yuzu Fou and Bombay Bling! In the end I choose Bombay Bling as I feel that mango isnt a note you often see in a perfume. Mychelin’s review is so evocative, I can easily picture myself in an exotic landscape. And I love the bottle too. Greeting from Romania, Eu.

  • Since I’m looking for one of the best summer fragrances I was drawn to Michelyn’s review on Bombay Bling. That would be my choice should I be chosen. From the video the perfume that sounded interesting was the M+ mandarin. It was described as a brilliant orange experience. US

  • Laurentiu says:

Bombay Bling sounds really good to me. I have yet to try anything from this house, but hopefully I will be lucky enough to start my journey of discovery with Bombay Bling. Thanks!
    EU

  • Alejandro says:

Wow great video as usual Steven shout out to you and your beatiful content. Is always a delightful experience watch your videos. Riesling Reserve I will love a frangrance with those notes the sensation I’m pretty sure is stunning. I live in Lakeland, FL, US.

  • KellyHinrichs says:

The article makes all the fragrances sound sublime, it is hard to discern which ones would be better to my nose! I would love to try M +Mandarin and Bombay Bling. Love Mango Lassi!

  • i know im not gonna win but i doesnt hurt to try, right…
Neela Vermeire bombay bling would be my choice, USA
    Norfolk, Va

  • chrisskins says:

I wish I could say feel strongly about one of these summer fragrances over the other, but I don’t. They all sound amazing! Arm twist – Riesling Reserve. Cristalle is my all-time HG, so the light and happy fragrances appeal to me. So do the dark and moody, so ignore. I live in the USA.

  • Wow, these all sound fantastic! Parfum d’Empire Yuzu Fou would be my first choice but it is a hard decision given how great these all would be for a warm weather perfume. I’m in the USA.

  • LightOfJoy says:

I would absolutely love Neela Vermeire Creations’ Bombay Bling! Steven’s review of it was very passionate and made it sound like a must try, and Michelyn’s made me feel as though I was smelling it as she was describing it.

I adore mango in perfumery (and in my belly), but combined with tropical flowers, fruits, and cardamom would just send me over the moon. I’d love to enter the contest. I live in Texas, USA.

  • I’d choose Bombay Bling! Described as a “celebration in a bottle” (Michelyn) and “rich full decadent fragrance” (Steven), Bombay Bling! sounds like my dream summer fragrance. I’m a registered CaFleureBon reader (and follow on Instagram) and Redolessence subscriber. I’m in the United States. Thanks!

  • All sound fantastic. I liked Michelyn’s review of Bombay Bling, described as a flower market in India. Steven mentioned that M+Mandarin smells natural and good for layering. If lucky, I’d choose M +Mandarin, Bombay Bling, Riesling Reserve or Yuzu Fou. Thanks for the opportunity to sniff. Mich USA

  • joshuabrian says:

The mango note sounds amazing, but
I love Steven’s content and haven’t been able to try anything from Navitus yet, so I’d have to go with that. Thanks for the opportunity. From USA.

  • olgAPOISON says:

Bombay Bling and Yuzu Fue are both sounding stunning! I Like what was Said about mango and how Michelyn Always briefly writes all Important info. Im from EU

  • I gotta say, I was a big fan of Molecule 01 + Ginger when I tried it earlier this month, so I can just imagine how good the mandarin is. Steven mentions how natural the mandarin smells, and that alone is my favorite smelling citrus. I do love the sweetness from mandarin. I would be interested in layering this with some lighter citrus fragrances that don’t last very long and see how it boosts the scent. Michelyn mentions that it adds brightness to the iso E Super so Molecule 01 + Mandarin is exactly what I am looking for at the moment.
    Cheers from Illinois, USA!

  • I’m torn between Yuzu Fou and Bombay Bling, so I’d be really happy to win either! For Yuzu Fou, I was interested in the less common notes that Michelyn mentioned, like mint and bamboo. In Steven’s review, I was intrigued by his comment about how Yuzu Fou doesn’t contain the other citrusy notes we usually see with yuzu such as lemon, bergamot, and orange. As for Bombay Bling, both Michelyn and Steven painted an enchanting picture of the sheer decadence of this scent — the ripe fruity notes, the tropical florals, and the vanilla and tobacco in the drydown sound perfect for a summer scent. I am located in New York, in the US, and follow cafleurebon on Instagram and subscribe to Redolessence on YouTube. Thank you!

  • This is hands down one of the most unique co-curated summer fragrances list from Steven and Michelyn I have been introduced to. I would love to win one of these beautiful fragrances based on both Steven and Michelyn reviews in order of choice interest; 1. Bombay Bling 2. Navitus Aweigh 3. Escentric M + Mandarin 4. Riesling Reserve Eau de Parfum 5.Parfum d’Empire Yuzu Fou. I would truly love to have Bombay Bling in my life!!! It sounds like magic!!!
Also I am following @cafleurebonoffical from my Instagram name @calicalnurse. Greetings from the USA.

  • May I say great job, Michelyn, and Steven! Summer fragrance choices are on fleck. I was intrigued by Geza’a response to Michelyn’s question, and it is alive and natural. Citrus notes are a must for me in summer, a spark of sunshine.
Steven’s description of Aweigh has me lusting to try this one. It sounds so tropical and yet earthy.
If I were to have Lady Luck grace me with a win, I will have to go
with Escentric+M. I adore Neela’s Bombay Bling and it is a go in the summer. Being as I have a FB, I did not choose it. I am in the SW United States

  • So many intriguing choices here. Bombay Bling by Neela Vermeire Creations is one that I have read about several times and it sounds so transportive. Michelyn’s praise of the mango accord’s realism defintiely raised my brow as I love mango.. Steven called it one of the most amazing scents he has ever tried, and with his experience that is really saying something. I’m eager to hear is full review of it when it comes out. I have a few things in my LuckyScent cart as I type this so I think I’m going to go ahead and grab a sample.

Parfum d’Empire Yuzu Fou also sounds fantastic. I like an unconventional citrus and Steven seems to think it fit sthat bill nicely. Michelyn called it green, complex, and energizing – 3 facets I can certainly stand behind. Green is certainly trending this year, and as someone not overly familair with green scents, I’ve been getting my nose on as many as possible the last couple of months. I’d love to add this oen to the list.

If I were chosen, I’d have to go with one of these two: Bombay Bling or Yuzu Fou. Best of luck to everyone. I live in NC, USA.

  • I love the variety of this list! Michelyn and Steven both hit the nail on the head with the uniqueness of these perfumes – from yuzu to lychee to mango to mandarin, there are so many delicious-sounding summer fruits. I’m especially excited to see Bombay Bling on here – I drained my sample so fast! Michelyn’s review really captured the colorful joyfulness of it, and Steven really vocalized how it makes you feel transported to a tropical paradise. If I am lucky enough to win, I’d choose Bombay Bling! I follow you on Instagram @ra7chel and I’m in MN, USA.

  • Though I love green fragrances — and was thus initially drawn to Michelyn’s description of Yuzu Fou — I have no mango fragrances and I love the smell of mango. So if I were to win the draw, I’d go for the Bombay Bling. Both Michelyn’s and Steven’s descriptions of it make me want to give it a try. I’m in Oklahoma, USA. Thanks, as always, for the generous draw.

Summer is the right time for citrus, fruity, fresh floral, and aquatic fragrances! Great selection Michelyn and Steve. I’ve sampled Bombay Bling before and its effervescent mix of fruit and woods is perfect for warm weather. Michelyn’s description of the photo-realistic mango is spot on. I’m also really interested in Kelly + Jones Notes of Riesling Reserve, Riesling is my summertime white drink of choice and this would be a perfect accompaniment. I’m also interested in Parfum d’Empire Yuzu Fou. The mix of citrus, mint, bamboo and musk sounds refreshing on those humid summer days. Steven’s description sounded amazing. I would be happy to win any of these three. I also follow @cafleurebonofficial on IG. MD, USA

Summer is here and this list is power.

I believe having Escentric Molecules 01 M +mandarin, would be a fantastic addition to my collection because the versatility of wearing on its own, or layering with other fragrances.

Happy summer to all, from Massachusetts.

  • FragranceIsMe says:

I enjoyed both Steven and Michelyn’s review of these 5 Summer fragrances. Each offering something unique. I could easily find myself adding all of these to my Summer rotation (I currently own Aweigh). Should I be one of the lucky winners of this giveaway, I’d gladly choose any of the fragrances on this list. Thank you for the opportunity.

These are really beautiful summer choices by Michelyn and Steven! These are my favorite parts of reviews:
Parfum d’Empire Yuzu Fou – uplifting, vibrant, as energizing as high voltage vitamin C.
Navitus Aweigh – live coconut, super tropical, bright.
Neela Vermeire Creations Bombay Bling! – brilliant composition, amazing tropical experience.
Kelly + Jones Notes of Riesling Reserve – peachy, not too citrusy, sensual, smooth, great warm weather perfume, energetic and easy- to-wear.
Escentric Molecules 01 M +mandarin – huge compliment getter, natural mandarin.
I woul like to try Bombay Bling!
    Hugs from Croatia, EU

  • Ken White says:

All of these featured scents sound wonderful and It’s hard to choose one. Aweigh sounds very interesting as a wearable niche. Bombay Bling with its realistic mandarine.

I’m choosing Eccentric Molecules, should I be chosen. New Jersey, USA

  • Love mango and Duchaufour so my top choice is Bombay Bling.
    I would love to win
Bombay Bling and Kelly and Jones Notes of Reisling

  • Roger Currie says:

I would be interested in trying a bottle of Parfum d’Empire Yuzu Fou. I have recently required another bottle with Yuzu as a main note. I o enjoy it but I am thinking by the Steven’s review that this will be much more refined.

Thanks for sharing your content .

Doesn’t matter the season , i always dress sharp , and sandals is not something you’d find in my wardrobe . Summer is welcome of course
-Yuzu Fou fresh citruses, mint and woods characteristics are appealing to me. It was also nice that Michelyn reached to Marc-Antoine Corticchiato to tell us how he was inspired by Japan street culture . Judging by Michelyn and Steven enthusiasm, he accomplished exactly what he was looking for.
-Molecule 01 I use for layering purposes, works really well , I’m curious about the added mandarin in Mandarin M+
    -Navitus Aweigh
Navitus mostly equals Vivamor to me , versatile, pleasing all year round fragrance I wear on regular basis. Aweigh also offers a lot too , sound intriguing
-Kelly + Jones Notes of Riesling Reserve energetic and easy to wear
    -Neela Vermeire Creations Bombay Bling
Top quality ingredients fragrances , created by one of the best perfumers out there Bertrand Duchaufour , disign , anesthetics , positive vibe all combined is certain recipe for success.
With her experience i so wonder what kind of fragrance Michelyn calls “one of the best summer fragrances” , and will Bombay Bling be as good as Trayee, or maybe even better??
Bombay Bling is the fragrance i’d like to win the most
Thank you Michelyn, Steven and all the brands
    USA

  • Wow Parfum d’Empire Yuzu Fou sound totally up my alley. I love citrus-y and yuzu scents so much, so that would definitely be my giveaway pick.
Especially with the heatwave we are experiencing in my city, a fresh & citrusy summer scent, like the ones described by Steven and Michelyn would hid the fragrance-spot so to speak.
Thank you for the giveaway, From Canada

  • I have been watching Steven’s videos for as long as I’ve been on this fragrance journey. I always look forward to his seasonal lists to give me recommendations and inspiration. I sometimes struggle to find the right scent for the warm weather. As Michelyn aptly states, cabernet is great in winter but summer calls for a riesling. That refreshing and invigorating riesling could be Yuzu Fou or Bombay Bling for me. They are my choices, shoud I win the draw. Michelyn’s reviews sparked my interest for these unusual and complex summer scents. The futuristic Japanese vibe and the vibrant Indian imagery are very evocative. A shame I can’t win them both.

I follow both Redolessence on YT and @cafleurebonofficial on IG. My handle is @jonbonsnowi. I live in Denmark, EU.

  • PetaloDiCera says:

Wow! I really want to be in the “pulsating Japan” right now!
Thanks to Michelyn and Steven to draw my attention to this fragrance which seems to be fresh and energetic, perfect for summer.
So I would love to win Yuzu Fou by Marc Antoine Corticchiato.
    Smiles from Italy, EU.

  • Such a lovely and bombastic selection! I loved how Steven picked a bunch of lively and sparkling, doubtlessly summery scents, yet there is space to navigate even between those: from yuzu to boozy to tropical paradises.
I loved how Michelyn gave us a snippet of a description for each of these, sometimes about their history and the source of inspiration.
If I won, I would personally pick Bombay Bling, especially since he said it’s one of the most amazing perfumes he’s ever smelled. The genderless tropical cocktail sounds absolutely delicious and so fit for summer.
My other pick would be Yuzu Fou. It sounds cheerful and amazing, and it being inspired by Japan and anime only makes it cooler!
Commenting from the EU and following you on IG as elmas_zeynep.

  • Nice summer list I would be interested in all.

But the one choice I would make is Escentric Molecules M +Mandarin.

Love both opinions of being able to layer with which speaks of its versatility. The addition of the mandarin brightness just adds to a great fragrance all while feeling natural.

Thanks for the giveaway from the USA

  • Gnossiennes says:

Thanks for the amazing recommendations, Michelyn and Steven!
In the past, I always went to chypre or fougere in heat waves. I am not a citrus person, not until recently, as I noticed citrus can also be diverse and differ from each other with subtle twists. Yuzu Fou is exactly on my list. Thanks to your lovely reviews, I am sure I gonna have this one in my collection!
    Looking forwards to Part 2!

My choice is Yuzu Fou. Love from Shanghai!

  • I liked Bombay Bling and Aweigh. Aweigh with its captivating blend of lavender, yuzu, mint, and incense, this composition is both resolute and alluring. I was immediately drawn to the fragrance after watching Steven’s insightful video, as his unique approach to scent creation never fails to impress. Steven Gavrielatos has once again showcased his exceptional talent in crafting fragrances that capture my imagination and transport us to new sensory realms. Aweigh is a testament to his creative vision, and I’m certain that those who experience this delightful fragrance will be enchanted by its harmonious blend of ingredients. Bombay Bling is kind and exceptional because of its unique notes and Bertrand Duchaufour. I hope to win one of them.
    Greetings from The US.

  • Great list for summer! Warm weather isn’t the only time to enjoy our aquatics, fresh citrus, or fruity perfumes, but it sure does make them shine.

I particularly enjoyed Michelyn’s blurb about Parfum d’Empire Yuzu Fou; the focal notes are a little less seasonally expected and Marc-Antoine Corticchiato’s comments about the perfume are really interesting. I also liked Michelyn’s reminder to watch Sideways again sometime—it’s been a while. Steven’s video was detailed, as always, and I like how he pointed out how distinct the citrus is in Parfum d’Empire Yuzu Fou. (I’ve noticed the same about other yuzu-based scents I’ve tried—it’s a terrific note.) He also pointed out useful Escentric M + Mandarin is for layering, as did Michelyn, which makes me want to give layering light summer fragrances a try.

I’m in the USA. If I were to win, my first choice would be Parfum d’Empire Yuzu Fou, but I’d love Bombay Bling, Escentric M + Mandarin, and Aweigh as well. Thanks for the giveaway!

    I follow @cafleurebonoffical as @mmerline on Instagram.

  • Great introduction by GOATS Michelyn and Steven.
I love these kind of lists because I can get to know fragrances for different seasons.
I have not tried all of this 5 fragrances but they all seem so interesting and great for hot weather.
I would love to win any of them 5, but if we can pick, I would choose either Navitus Parfums Aweigh or Kelly Jones Riesling Reserve. They give everything I want in a summer fragrance.
    USA here.

  • Michelyn and Steven did an incredible job describing the fragrances along with their notes. I really enjoyed looking through the list, especially since these fragrance houses are lesser known and mostly new to me. Bombay Bling!’s notes of black current and lychee is a very new and unique combination compared to what I’ve seen, along with escentric molecule’s with their Iso E Super. This was an amazing selection for the summer, but if I had to pick, my choices if I were to win would be Bombay Bling, Aweigh, and Escentric M + Mandarin.

  • I love the sound of Bombay Bling! Mango is a favourite of mine, and I’m intrigued by Michelyn and Stephen both saying it’s a perfect summer fragrance. A Duchafour summer fragrance – intriguing! I’m in the EU

    Parfum d’Empire Yuzu Fou
Whoever is the official Parfums d’Empire official US distributor, please bring the sample set to the US market.
Parfums d’Empire i have heard, but I never had a chance to try them out.Michelyn is recommending their fragrances quite often, and i tried to find the sample set, but all US online stores i trust ,and buy from either don’t carry the brand, or the sample set is not available. Perfumology, Twisted Lily and Indigo Perfumery do not carry the brand, Luckyscent do but not the sample set !
Yuzu Fou is appealing to me because of how effervescent , zesty and uplifting it smells, and the Japanese connection
    Escentric Molecules Escentric M+ Mandarin
I’ve heard the name dozens, if not hundreds of times, but still i don’t have experience with Escentric Molecules fragrances. Escentric M+ Mandarin will cheer me up I’m sure.
Navitus Aweigh is bright fragrance, with citrus and incense done in unconventional way
Kelly + Jones Notes of Riesling Reserve green, fresh and fruity fragrance
    Neela Vermeire Creations Bombay Bling!
Neela is one of a kind person , LOVE Bombay Bling, and original Mohur, never smelled the Extrait, and I’m pumped for Fragments by NVC line .
Bombay Bling celebration in a bottle would be my choice
    Thanks for the draw

  • Regis Monkton says:

Before watching Steven’s review, I was already intrigued to try Kelly+Jones “Riesling Reserve Eau de Parfum”, but while watching it, I decided that it would be my first choice if I win the draw. I appreciated hearing that it is a sensual and elegant fragrance, and I’m interested to see what the elderflower is like with the multiple fruitiness aspects. I also appreciate when Michelyn says “There is elderflower, which adds an aromatic green, slightly musky floralcy.” My second choice if I win, would be “Bombay Bling” because Bertrand Duchaufour is one of my favorite perfumers. My third choice would be Parfum d’Empire “Yuzu Fou” because I’d like to try something from Marc-Antoine Corticchiato. I live in the U.S.A. I follow the Instagram page of @cafleurebonoffical from @regismonkton

Yuzu Fou i think is a classy fresh fragrance , suitable for all occasions.
Escentric M+ Mandarin. Juicy mandarin and Molecule 01 is a winning combination.
Navitus Aweigh I’ve smelled ,fresh coconut , lime, lavender and incense
Kelly + Jones Notes of Riesling Reserve energetic Summer fragrance
    Neela Vermeire Creations Bombay Bling
I’m happy to own one Neela Vermeire fragrance called Trayee . I sampled it because of Ermano Picco Cafleurebon review, and decided to buy a bottle.
Friends and family, jazz music, cardamom , photorealistic mango , and positive emotions are all part of the festive sensation coming from Bombay Bling
I’ll be happy to win Neela Vermeire Creations Bombay Bling
    Overly exciting giveaway, USA

Transition from sweaters to sandals – the most fitting description of summer, thank you Michelyn! Love the way Michelyn likens Yuzu Fou to high strength Vitamin C; based on the perfumer’s briefing the fragrance does indeed sound to bring freshness like no other. All of the summer picks are brilliant, I own M1 + Mandarin and every time I spray it on, everyone around me and myself just cannot get enough of the authentic mandarin vibe and the brightness it creates in combination with Iso E Super. I much appreciate Stephen’s video review – informative, insightful. His enthusiasm about Bombay Bling seals my decision as to what my pick would be – Neela Vermeire’s creation sings to me from afar, telling a story of the happy tropical life. Love the way he appeals to the audience to get a sample. I have not been familiar with Aweighand I need to say the notes are just exquisite, sounds like something I would feel like bathing in. Riesling Reserve, the – as Michelyn describes it – energetic and easy- to-wear perfume, promises the perfect lightweight summer. My heart, however, got stolen by Bombay Bling. Myself and my SO both LOVE mango so the genderless nature of the perfume would come in handy. I would be over the moon if I was to win Bombay Bling. Steven’s video review is, as usual, informative and insightful. I like how he is humble but still proud in terms of featuring a fragrance from the line he creatively directed himself. And his enthusiasm about Bombay Bling seals it for me – that would be my pick was I lucky to win. I follow @cafleurebonoffical under the nickname _cathy_reilly_. Big thanks from the EU

  • I’d love Escentric Mandarin. Bombay Bling. Really just about any would be great! Thank you. I’m in US.

I have a feeling Summer came later than ever ..
As usual I’ll share my thoughts on the Summer 23′ fragrances chosen by Michelyn and Steven , starting with the way Steven showed them in his video
    5. Aweigh by Navitus, composed by Jorge Lee
Nice tropical fragrance, with coconut, lime and woody and slightly sweet base.
    4. Yuzu by Parfum d’Empire , composed by Marc-Antoine Corticchiato
I agree with Steven and Michelyn review , Yuzu Fou is refined, tart fragrance, suited for all occasions. Sweetness in any form i don’t get.
    3. Notes of Riesling Reserve by Kelly + Jones , composed by Christina Christie
Zesty, fruity maybe slightly boozy too
    2. Molecule 01 + Mandarin by Escentric Molecules , composed by Geza Schoen
Escentric M+ Mandarin I think it will work well for the upcoming season, fresh, invigorating and easy to wear ,it’s also Michelyn favorite
    1. Bombay Bling by Neela Vermeire Creations, composed by Bertrand Duchaufour
I had the pleasure of not only smelling Neela Vermeire Créations fragrances at Esxence 2018 , but meet Neela herself. Such a warm and genuine woman.
If I have to rate my favorite Neela Vermeire Créations fragrances:
    1. Mohur Extrait , also Michelyn favorite i remember
    2. Bombay Bling
    3. Trayee / Purpureum from the new Fragments by NVC line
Bombay Bling indeed very special, fruity sweet , juicy , sensual, slightly woody, and long lasting.
    Bombay Bling would be great
All profiles I already follow, @waltherp99bg

Very nice reviews! I really enjoyed how Michelyn’s written review described Navitus Aweigh as ” resolute composition” of lavender, yuzu, mint, and incense that is both meditative and exciting, much like it’s inspiration Homer’s epic poem The Odyssey. What a gorgeous and evocative description! And as for Steven’s video review, I love how he describes Bombay Bling! as transporative to a tropical landscape and exotic experience with lush ylang ylang and frangipani and the much more unusual notes of mango and lychee. Sounds like a decadent and exotic stunner!

If I were to win, I would chose in the following order:
    1) Bombay Bling
    2) Yuzu Fou
    3) Navitus Aweigh
    4) Riesling Reserve
    5) Escentric M + Mandarin.

I live in the US.. I am following your new Instagram page @cafleurebonoffical and would like comment to count twice, my Insta name is momo.liu.121.

  • Michael Prince says:

I loved Michelyn’s written review and Steven’s video review of the Top Ten Summer Fragrances 2023 Part 1. I’ve heard so many things in the fragrance community about Bombay Bling with the realistic mango note and fruity floral depth that smells like summer. I am very intrigued by the realistic Mandarin note in Escentric M+ Mandarin combined with the performance of Iso E Super. I’ve also heard Steven mention Aweigh being the bright fresh and fruity summer fragrance from his brand Navitus Parfums created by the brilliant Jorge Lee. I remember reading an article on Cafleurebon recently about Kelly and Jones Reisling Reserve that really caught my attention and it still has it. I am following @cafleurebonofficial on Instagram under @michaelprince83 and @michaelprincefragrance I am from the USA. I would like to win.

    1. Navitus Parfums Aweigh
    2. Escentric M + Mandarin
    3. Bombay Bling
    4. Kelly Jones Reisling Reserve
    5. Parfum d’Empire Yuzu
