Top 10 Summer Fragrances 2023 Part 2+ hazy days of summer giveaways

Sun over New Jersey, 8:30 A.M EST Wednesday morning 6/7/2023 photo by Steven©

The hazy days of summer has taken on a whole new meaning in New York City this week. The City disappeared behind a heavy blanket of smoke and haze, with orange skies due to the Canadian Wildfire. At the time I am writing this, every street light is turned on and its only 2:30 P.M. People who have to be outside are wearing masks and on the news New York City was rated the 2nd most polluted place in the world. Throughout much of the tri-state area, those who can stay indoors, crank up the AC and spray our favorite warm weather perfumes. This is part 2 of our co-curated top 10 Summer Fragrances (winners have not been announced for Part 1 yet). –Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

Top 10 summer Fragrances 2023

Top 10 Summer Fragrances 2023 Part 2-Steven Gavrielatos

Antonio Alessandria Parfums Fara (Antonio Alessandria): Antonio is one of perfumery’s greatest story tellers. His fragrances are drawn from his own experiences growing up in Catania, Sicily. The Fara – in local Sicilian dialect, is the temperature when the sun is at its zenith. Fara is #1 on both Steven and my Top 10 Best Fragrances because you literally want to drink it and is as refreshing as a Seltz Limone e Sole, the drink sold at the Catania kiosks on the beaches. Opening with a unique touch of fizzy finger lime sprinkled with salt and the best photorealistic bergamot I have ever smelt. Antonio uses real Calabrian bergamot and not an “accord.” I am getting thirsty just writing this. Fara is a unique perfume and we guarantee you will not smell like any one else. Longevity is outstanding. Notes: Calabrian Bergamot, lemon, finger lime, peppermint, magnolia, light jasmine, cumin, cedarwood, cypress, incensemusky and amberMichelyn

Nicolai Parfumeur-Createur Cap Neroli (Patricia de Nicolai): Can I compare a fragrance to a summer day? In Cap Antibes? Cap Neroli is an exceptional citrus; it is not a neroli soliflore. Yes, the entire orange: pulp, twig, flower, branch and leaf is there but so is the herbal astringency of rosemary which feels like a light ocean breeze as our sun warmed bodies are showered with petals of Mediterranean blooms. Cap Neroli is unique partly due to Madame de Nicolai’s deft use of  petitgrain bigarde which has a green, woody scent. Although it is an Eau de Toilette concentration it lasts all day on my skin. Notes: Petitgrain bigarade, orange, mandarin, rosemary, mint, neroli, ylang ylang, jasmine absolute, orange flower absolute, eau de Brouts (absolute derived from petitgrain and neroli waters), oakmoss, musk, amber.-Michelyn

Xerjoff Nio: If you have never smelt vintage Guerlain Imperiale cologne then Xerjoff Nio, from 2009 is the next best thing (at least for me). Nio is  one of my summer favorites because it is has a quality difficult to find in a citrus fragrance: it lasts, even in the heat. The bergamot curls around jasmine and spices until the drydown of vetiver and woods. Notes: Tunisian neroli, Calabrian bergamotjasminecardamom, nutmeg, pink pepper, green leaves, cedarguaiac wood, Haitian vetiver, Indian patchouliamber. —Michelyn

Le Jardin Retrouve Mousse Arashiyama (Maxence Moutte): All Le Jardin Retrouvé fragrances are inspired by a garden. In this case Givaudan perfumer Maxence Moutte sought to capture the bamboo forest of Japan’s Arashiyama Park. If you have ever gone forest bathing (which I highly recommend if you need to tune out), that Zen-like experience is bottled here. Lentisque, which has a piney, resinous scent is expertly blended  by Givaudan perfumer Maxence Moutte with aquatic notes and fig, as light incense weaves in and out. Calming and relaxing when the heat is on. Notes: oakmossbergamot, lentiscus, aquatic notes, fig accord, incensevetivercedarMichelyn

Parfums de Marly Darley (Francis Deleamont): With popular Parfums de Marly fragrances like Delina, Herod, and Percival, Darley is often overlooked and was one of the Houses first offerings 14 years ago!!  Darley is complex and aromatic with energizing citruses, realistic smelling lavender and accents of cinnamon and mint. The vibrant opening is complemented by the sweet sensation of cinnamon and tonka bean. The brand markets the fragrance to men, but  will please the ladies as well. The bottle glows golden like the rays of the sun. Notes: bergamot, lemon, mint,  lavender, rose, orange blossom, cinnamon, sandalwood, guaiac wood, patchouli, amber and tonkaSteven Gavrielatos and  Michelyn Camen

Disclosure: Steven was gifted by the brands. Michelyn received samples except for Cap Neroli and Mousse Arashiyama

I’d love to win Parfums De Marly Darley. Michelyn is very right as I live in NJ and I’m feeling the impact of the Canadian wildfires myself, a hazy day for sure. These are excellent choices for summer fragrances and very bright/effervescent like Steven said.

  • castlemicro says:

Hello from Florida, and thank you to Michelyn and Steven for the reviews! I’m following your instagram from my account @castlemicro.

From the perfumes listed, I’m most interested in Parfums de Marly’s Darley and Antonio Alessandria’s Fara. Darley sounds very warm and classic, and Fara — true to its name — sounds like it would be a great source of relief in the overbearing heat.

  • Nikolina_84 says:

These are some interesting choices, mostly green, citrusy, menthol notes. I love how Fara is described like “you literally want to drink it and is as refreshing as a Seltz Limone e Sole” – that sounds so good! But based on Michelyn’s and Steven’s reviews, my favorite would be Xerjoff Nio because it has a quality difficult to find in a citrus fragrance: it lasts, even in the heat AND because I love neroli and jasmin.
Least favorite would be Mousse Arashiyama because I’m not a big fan of oakmoss and incense.
The one I’d love to have is Nicolai Parfumeur-Createur Cap Neroli.

I’d love to win Nicolai Parfumeur Createur‘s Cap Neroli. Steven and Michelyns review illustrates how refreshing this would be for summer! This sounds like a summer stunner. From Ct USA

  • Thanks to both Michelyn and Steven for some lovely reviews — I can’t agree enough about Nio being “bergamot done right”. Michelyn has made me want to check out Guerlain Imperial Cologne. My pick from this batch, if I am lucky, is Le Jardin Retrouve Mousse Arashiyama. Hello from HI USA!

  • My choice is 100 ml of Cap Neroli. Michelyn’s written review was jam packed with interesting facts and details. Steven’s video review was full of helpful information and was very professionally made. I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU. I am an Instagram follower. My Insta name: insztagramekphoto

  • Greg Graham Sr says:

Hello Steven and Cafleurebon and Michelyn, thank you for all you do for the Fragrance community. I would love to win Nio or PDM Darly. Stay safe

  • Johnmichael02302 says:

So hard to pick from such an amazing lineup. I absolutely love how despite the terrible environment going on in New York due to the wildfires in Canada, Michelyn not only chose a way to stay focused on the task at hand but to incorporate it in this article. Absolutely love it! Steven had me sold on Darly the millisecond he said, “Darly will set you apart.” Coming from Steven that says a lot! I love all these choices but if I could win one I’d pick Darly! Good luck all from Boston, Massachusetts!

  • Hope my fellow NYC’ers are staying safe. My choice is Fara from Antonio Alessandria Parfums.

  • I would definitely like to win Darley by Parfums de Marly. Apparently I’ve been sleeping on their summer lineup. Much love from Indianapolis, IN.

  • That orange sun looks awful. Hang in there.
Since both Michelin and Stephen put fara at number one so will I. The bergamot and salty flavor sounds divine. I went to check Perfumology but it’s not listed yet.
Cap Neroli I als would want because it sounds divine.

  • Fantastic introduction by Michelyn and video by Steven.
I loved this part 2 of top Summer Fragrances. Summer is my favorite season, since I love citrus and fresh fragrances and the ones listed here are amazing.
I would love to win either Parfums de Marley Darley or Grand Flacon of Mousse Arashiyama. They are the ones that got my attention the most and the ones that I think that would suit me better.
    USA here.

  • Antonio Alessadria’s Fara sounds so refreshing. Michelyn said it reminded her of sipping a Seltz Limone e Sole and that made my mouth water. As a fan of lime and bergamot combos, especially when they are fizzy, this one piqued my interest. Steven talked about the mint being a wonderful compliment to all the citruses in there, and called it one of the best summer scents in the entire industry. I am certainly intrigued.

Parfums de Marly Darley also sounds really interesting to me. As Michelyn and Steven both mentioned, it seems to fly under the radar and you don’t hear much about it from most content creators and reviewers. Steven said it reminded him of Amouage Reflection Man mixed with Creed’s Original Santal – two fragrance profiles I am a huge fan of. I am certainly going to have to try that one now.

That said, those are the two I would love to have the opportunity to add to my collection. If I were to win I would choose either Fara or Darley. Best of luck to everyone! I live in NC, USA. (I follow your Insta – @thearronq)

  • Taí M. Smith says:

Thanks for enlightening us with some better choices for the summer. I’ve been looking for a new neroli fragrance and think I may have found it.

  • This perfume article and a video with curated selection of scents beautifully illustrate the connection between these fragrances and warm summer days. I like Patricia de Nicolai perfumes so my choice would definitely be Nicolai Parfumeur – Creteur Cap Neroli. The combination of citrusy notes and the promise of a definitive summery experience has piqued my interest.
Thank you for the delightful recommendations!

  • Jeremy Upshaw says:

I have to say that it’s such a battle-royale of summer stunners, It’s hard to weigh between Michelyn’s forest-bathing inspiration behind Mousse Arashiyama, the citrine bloom and rosemary whisper in Cap Neroli, the legend of Nio or the mere presence of Darley – But I have to say that Steven won my intrigue with his captivation of Fara – I never knew I needed a juicy, minty fragrance… yet, here we are!
    Best regards from Oklahoma, USA

  • chrisskins says:

The fact that both Michelyn and Steven put Fara at No. 1 makes this a must-sniff. My cumin fear is cancelled by curiosity about a the fizzy finger lime. (I’d keep that detail private at wild summer gatherings, three hours in.) I’m also intrigued by the peppermint and it’s fun to see it showing up all over this list. I live in hazy NY.

  • Mani Narayan says:

Nice fragrances, I would love to sample them myself! I’d love to win Xerjoff Nio but since it is not included in this giveaway, I’d prefer Darly from Parfums De Marly!

  • Mani Narayan says:

I forgot to mention Bombay Bling which also sounds very interesting. I love Tobacco fragrances and this one sounds great, especially with the tropical notes in addition to the tobacco and vanilla.

  • Paul Ransom says:

Both Steve’s and Michelyn’s reviews were descriptive and informative. Their knowledge of the fragrances was apparent. My choice is PDM Darley. I live in USA..

  • Recently went to test out PDM freshies with Sedley and Greenly in mind. Ended up being blown away by Galloway and Darley.

I ended up choosing Galloway, which narrowly edged out Darley, but I’m still planning on adding it to my collection. I’ll cross my finger hoping this giveaway will help me with that

  • I’ve never heard Steven say @just take my word for it”, this peaked my interest and then Michelyn said it was so good you want to drink it, also both choosing this as their number 1 , I was sold. If I wiuld be so fortunate enough to win I would choose Fara.

Cap Neroli is my choice because is an exceptional citrus with the entire orange: pulp, twig, flower (orange flower absolute), branch and leaf. It is fantastic for warm days in summer. I am from EU

  • Can I compare a fragrance to a summer day? In Cap Antibes? Cap Neroli is an exceptional citrus; it is not a neroli soliflore. Yes, the entire orange: pulp, twig, flower, branch and leaf is there but so is the herbal astringency of rosemary which feels like a light ocean breeze as our sun warmed bodies are showered with petals of Mediterranean blooms. Cap Neroli is unique partly due to Madame de Nicolai’s deft use of petitgrain bigarde which has a green, woody scent. Although it is an Eau de Toilette concentration it lasts all day on my skin. Notes: Petitgrain bigarade, orange, mandarin, rosemary, mint, neroli, ylang ylang, jasmine absolute, orange flower absolute, eau de Brouts (absolute derived from petitgrain and neroli waters), oakmoss, musk, amber.-Michelyn A beautiful description by Michelyn especially deft use of petitgrain bigarde and the fact longevity is amazing. I love Stevens reviews always great at breaking everything down. I follow @caflerubonofficial my id is amnaaziz5296@gmail.com. If I am lucky enough to win would love every Cap Neroli. Thanks a million from the UK

  • Hello Steven and Cafleurebon and Michelyn, thank you for all you do for the Fragrance community. I would love to win Nio or PDM Darly. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • I would love to win
Nicolai Parfumeur Createur cap neroli. Love the refreshing notes perfect for Summertime. Michelyn compares it to a summer day . Steven said perfect for Summer. Thank you for this Chance USA

If I am successful I would like Cap Neroli. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • Very excited to see Nicolai Parfumeur Createurs featured on here. Cap Neroli sounds great. Thank you for the opportunity. US-California.

  • Fara seems like a fresh, invigorating composition that may remind some of summer beach drinks and reminds Michelyn of Seltz Limone e Sole while Darley has a warm composition. Xerjoff has a salty citrus fragrance, more specifically that is focused bergamot, that stands out in a sea of citrus fragrances. Cap Neroli may seem like a neroli soliflore from the name but it is not.

My choices are Fara, Darley or Cap Neroli. I am in US.

  • Very good summer picks<3 Cap Neroli sounds GREAT!

darley sounds great. I love how michelyn describes it as underrated. I love under the radar. Steven does such a good job describing perfume top to bottom. I like how he talks about scent and performance. I’d like to win darley and live in Indiana.

  • As a big fan of green notes in my summer fragrances, all of these fragrances sound great and I’d love any of the four that you’re giving away. But if I had to choose one it would be Fara. Both Michelyn and Steven make it sound wonderful. Michelyn’s comparison to a refreshing Seltz Limone e Sole and Steven’s highlighting the spicy mint make it sound wonderful. And I’m a fan of cumin, too. I’m in Oklahoma, USA.

  • Once again amazing reviews by Michelyn and Steven, thank you for introducing me to new perfumes great for summer!

Out of the ones mentioned, I’m intrigued by 2:
Parfums de Marly Darley – vibrant, complex and aromatic with energizing citruses, realistic smelling lavender and accents of cinnamon and mint &
Nicolai Parfumeur-Createur Cap Neroli – exceptional citrus, unique because of petitgrain bigarade, feels like a light ocean breeze on sun warmed bodies…

    Naturally, I’d choose Cap Neroli!

  • Part 2 was just as unique as Part 1. Great job, Michelyn, and Steven. How can I not like something as refreshing as Seltz Limone e Sole? I won’t drink it, but I will smell refreshing and bright. I always enjoy reading and listening to each of your choices. Steven’s note on how long-lasting Fara is and the quality hooked me. So, of course, my choice is Fara should I win.
Thanks to you both for your unique and enlightening descriptions of each of these fragrances.

  • Ken White says:

Michelyn’s review is loaded with interesting details, such as Xerjoff Nio smelling like vintage Guerlain Imperiale. Steven’s video review was full of useful information, as usual. I’d love to win PDM Darley. New Jersey, USA

  • Just recently found your content, and man I wish I would of found it sooner! I’m new to the frag game but your videos help and I love the way you break the scents down! I really want to try the PDM after the video sounds right up my alley.

  • joshuabrian says:

I’d go with Darley if I were to win. It sounds like it’s be great in the heat, but the sweetness and spices adds much more depth. Would probably be great year around. Thanks for the opportunity. From USA.

  • Nice choice Michelyn and Steven! Summer is here and we turn into citrus fragrances where bergamot is the queen of this warm season. If she steals the show in Antonio Alessandria Parfums Fara where Mr. Alessandria use the best Calabrian bergamot to refresh our skin with the salt extracted from the sicilian saltworks, she also appears (and is done right as Steven says) in Xerjoff Nio to dance with jasmine, vetiver and woods. Other famous citrus like Neroli stands out in Ms. Nicolai Cap Neroli where all seville (¿?) orange is accompanied with petitgrain and rosemary in another picture , very long lasting, of Mediterranean shores. Le Jardin Retrouvé travels to Japan to ease the heat in a bamboo forest with mediterranean lentisque. Parfums de Marly Darley is a mix according to Steven of Amouage Reflection for man and Creed original Santal and great for summer and not so famous are other the Marly offerings for this season. If I win, my choices are Antonio Alessandria Parfums Fara or Nicolai Cap Neroli. I live in Spain, EU

  • I love a bright, herbal fragrance for summer and Michelyn’s review shows how these four different fragrances have that but are appealing in different ways – from energizing to relaxing. Steven’s reviews make them all sound gorgeous but Darley appeals the most. The combination of cinnamon with the herbal notes sounds so unique. Fara also sounds really original with the cumin note and I love a long lasting fragrance. If I am lucky enough to win, Darley or Fara would be my choice. I’m a Redessence subscriber in MN, USA.

  • Steven seemed pretty convincing on how much he loves Fara and if Michelyn thinks it is good enough to drink, well my decision is made. Nio is already one of my summer staples. The one that I’m really not sure about is Darley. Steven’s description of it didn’t really want to make me try it for hot weather.

    Fara for the win
    Phoenix AZ

  • From the written I was drawn to the “realistic smelling lavender” of Darley. From the video I got a very favorable impression of Cap Neroli. For the draw I’ll choose Darley. US

  • johnmadison says:

Thank you for the reviews, Michelyn and Steven!
In Steven’s review I found his insight to these fragrances playing with bergamot in beautiful ways as wearing these is a bright expression of Summer with Nio and Mousse Arashiyama, as I love this note and love to see it done well.
Darley sounds absolutely amazing. Tonka bean paired with mint sounds so lovely to me and an original bouquet in this one. I like to have a unique smell and this certainly seems to be the ticket.
When Michelyn speaks of Nio, I find myself very curious to wear this one as stated it is rare to have a citrus fragrance that really lasts in Summer heat. And the jasmine and spices paired with the bergamot sounds fantastic!

I am following Ca Fleure Bon on Instragram as well, and my name on instragram is jay.bonez.

  • Following on Instagram, I’m @oksureletstry

I am loving this season and all the fragrance content from Steven and michelyn. Xerjoff Nio is easily one of my absolute all-Time favorites, and I’m very excited to smell anything you think would be of similar quality, even if the composition differs quite a bit.

I recently started watching Steven’s videos and not only do I find his analysis of notes to be extremely informative, he also has great presentation, he is articulate, and enjoyable to watch speak about his passion. His lifetime experience helps me so much to decide what to try, and what not to try, as I’ve found his descriptions accurate time and time again.

Michelyn’s descriptions here are also so illustrative. She doesn’t just run down the notes, she paints a picture of the experience you would get from smelling these fragrances, both in the example of the resinous pine forest (one of my favorite hiking smells) and in the seltze limone e sole, which sounds beautiful, but I’ve yet to try.

If I’m lucky enough to win a drawing, I would choose fara.

  • Laurentiu says:

I am in Europe and I would go for Cap Neroli from Parfums de Nicolai. I tried a few from this house and each had something unique and beautiful about it. I am sure Cap Neroli ain’t no different.
    Thanks

I would love to win Antonio Alessandria Parfums Fara or Nicolai Parfumeur Createur Cap Neroli.

But they all sound so refreshing! Thank you for Steven`s and Michelyn`s reviews.

I absolutely love Michelyn’s ability to create a sensory experience through her words. And how she captures the essence of each fragrance by connecting them to personal experiences, such as the Sicilian drink or the ocean breeze in Cap Antibes.
I am so interested in Antonio Alessandria Parfums Fara according to Steven`s review, the notes of salt and water accord, magnolia, finger lime sound unique and unusual.

    I am from EU.

  • Fara sounds so good: a thirst quenching, fresh, unique citrus fragrance perfect for torrid summer days. Cap Neroli also: a neroli that is not a solinote but a full immersion into the flower and a long lasting bigarade accord.
Steven and Michelyn eloquent and great reads / listens as always.
I would love to win either Fara or Cap Neroli.

I keep going through my scents sniffing for a great summer scent and don’t have one.

    Thanks for the giveaways.

The scents on the part 2 list of top 10 summer fragrances seem designed to lighten the “Hazy’ atmosphere with some refreshing citrus and calming woody notes. I would choose either Fara for the finger lime note (which I love) and Michelyn’s assertion that “you won’t smell like anyone else” or Mousse Arashiyama for fig note and reference to the bamboo forest. Love that both Steven and Michelyn put Fara as their number one choice. MD, USA

  • Farewellsmell says:

Terrible to hear about what’s happening in New York but hope it clears up soon. Incredible job by Michelyn and Steven on describing these fragrances. Glad to see Xerjoff’s Nio included in the list, especially with the popularity it’s been gaining ever since it’s release. Le Jardin’s concept is very unique and will definitely need to go forest waking in Japan when given the chance. Data sounds like an incredible gourmand (if I’m using that in the right context) fragrance in comparing it to Seltz Limone e Sole. Based on it’s description, Cap Neroli sounds like a beautiful representation of a citrusy fragrance in it’s inclusion of not only the neroli, but also the green as you would have when smelling the neroli plant in person. This was probably on of the few PdM fragrances that I’ve haven’t heard of till today, though I haven’t done much research on their collections. The uniqueness that Steven mentions from the tonka bean definitely has me interested in this fragrance. I would love to win any of these fragrances, with my top pick being PdM’s Darley. Following the instagram from @DairyLLL.

  • Khalid Elassari says:

I love Nio fragrance by xerjoff. It surprised me. I try Darly…maybe to heavy for summer. Galloway is my summer rock from PDM. I haven’t try the others you recommended.

  • Great reviews love all the fragrances from part 1 and 2

I love Le Jardin Retrouvé Mousse Arashiyama should I win.

I one day would like to go forest bathing. I live for the outdoors everyday and living in paradise helps me do this. Just not enough forest for me.

But with this fragrance on Steven suggests this goes all different ways and although there’s a lack of forest and nature where I live, I can at least imagine it thru smell.

Thanks for the reviews and giveaway from the USA

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

The deep summer is perhaps the most difficult time to find a complex, long-lasting fragrance. This list is a good starter for those who want to explore the options. Ms. Michelyn and Steven both pointed to PdM Darley is an underrated, hidden gem. Coming from a house like PdM, hidden gem is definitely not a common moniker associated with their fragrances. The descriptions given by these reviewers draw me to this scent…a mix of Reflection and Original Santal. I would really enjoy adding this to my collection. Appreciate the generosity of the giveaway. Many blessings from Virginia, USA!

  • Fara sounds delicious with its finger lime and lemon notes. Mousse Arashiyama, with its incense note, is calling my name. I do enjoy incense during the summer months. I would choose, if lucky, either of the two. Steven mentioned that Cap Neroli is long lasting. I agree, as it is one of my favs. Thanks for another awesome draw. Mich USA

  • For both Michelyn and Steven’s reviews, I appreciated the emphasis on originality and classic summer notes like bergamot, neroli, and aquatics being utilized and presented in a new and creative way. The entire list is 10 is so well-curated and sounds like a perfect and refreshing line-up for summer. I’d love to win Mousse Arashiyama; I live in New York, in the US!

  • Thanks for the reviews Michelyn and Steven!

I’m always happy to see Steven’s summer lists. As a fan of the light, floral and green fragrances I always want to know fragrances are out there for me to try! Steven’s recommendatios often line up with my personal taste so I know I will find something I will enjoy!

Michelyn’s description of Cap Neroli really caught my attention. Orange and also a bit herbal? Green and Woody? Yes please!
Fragrances that bring me back to the Mediterreanean are always high on my wishlist. I can’t wait to try it!

I would love to win Nicolai Parfumeur Createur’s Cap Neroli.

I appreciate when Steven describes PDM “Darley” and Parfums de Nicolai “Cap Neroli” as some of the best fragrance releases from those two companies respectively. If I win the draw, then I’d choose PDM “Darley” as my first choice, and “Cap Neroli” as my second choice. I’m interested to try PDM “Darley” when Michelyn describes it as: “complex and aromatic with energizing citruses, realistic smelling lavender and accents of cinnamon and mint.” I live in the U.S.A. It’s weather is warm ,but not NYC warm and I’m happy I don’t have to crank up the AC yet
    -Antonio Alessandria Parfums Fara
I not only tried Antonio Alessandria fragrances , but I have the best one . It’s called Noir Obscure.
Fizzy finger lime and salt done in a unique way ,Fara sounds so good.
-Nicolai Parfumeur Createur Cap Neroli.Massive fan of Cuir Cuba Intense Simply awesome tobacco and licorice fragrance i wear with a suit only.Cap Neroli is more versatile, and easy to wear, with a white linen suit i how I see myself wearing it.
    -Xerjoff Nio
I do think Nio is classy , leaning masculine Italian Cologne.Green tart citrus opening, with spicy and woody base is what I think of Nio. Can’t say i smell jasmine
-Le Jardin Retrouve Mousse Arashiyama i guess is how Japan countryside smells in the Spring
    -Parfums de Marly Darley
Darley is overlooked yes , just like Pegasus, my favorite Parfums de Marly. Realistic lavender with mint, and a bit of sweetness.
Antonio Alessandria Parfums Fara , Nicolai Parfumeur Createur Cap Neroli , Le Jardin Retrouve Mousse Arashiyama and Parfums de Marly Darley i all want to win, but if I have to pick one it would be Fara.
Thank you Michelyn, Steven and all the brands

  • Yes! ❤️❤️ Here is Taiwan the humid summer is on! What a fabulous line-up of scents! I 100% agree about Nio, especially if you can find those early bottles! I’d love love to experience Fara or Cap Neroli (both Michelyn and Steven’s reviews sound Amazing)! Michelyn’s exquisite taste is always spot-on and Steven gives the best note break-downs out there. I can see how Steven must be a Fabulous educator with how he consistently takes complex sensorial information and breaks it down into understandable and interesting presentations! Awesome! Everybody stay safe with the smoke and pollution. All my best wishes! ❤️❤️

I’ve spent a few years of my life living in Spain, and after the unbelievably scorching hot weather I’ve experienced over there , US Summers are not something I’m afraid of.
    Antonio Alessandria Parfums Fara
Antonio background story is remarkable, translating personal stories , not only from his childhood memories, but from his whole life span , into fragrances somehow related to Sicily. Not so easy to achieve.
Fara feels nostalgic , we all have suitcases filled with such memories. It’s ’s also lively, after all lazy Summer days are upon us, even though oue childhood days are long gone now .
Nicolai Parfumeur Createur Cap Neroli is classy green and woody fragrance that reminded Michelyn of Cap Antibes
    Xerjoff Nio
I had Nio back in 2001 , Wow 10 years went fast Presentation was very different from the current one, but the fragrance i believe is the same. I think the best time to wear it, is scorching hot weather.
Le Jardin Retrouve Mousse Arashiyama is green and calming bamboo forest in Japan
    Parfums de Marly Darley
Underated fragrance with lavender, mint and cinnamon. Steven said it’s a compliment getter too.
Not an easy choice, after some hesitation…I’ll be happy to win Antonio Alessandria Parfums Fara
    Overly exciting giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • I’m really enjoying this Summer Fragrances list, and speaking to Michelyn’s timely introduction, I’m lucky enough that the local air quality isn’t so awful I need to escape it. Still, happy to embrace the warm, muggy weather with seasonal fragrances.

Fara’s finger lime note caught my attention; both Micheyln and Steven raved about it. I haven’t tried many citrus fragrances and this one sounds tangy and refreshing. The “entire orange” aspect of Cap Neroli is compelling as well (reminds me of Fig, My Love and Rhubarb, My Love). And the meditative, grounded, nature-inspired Mousse Arashiyama has been on my list since you mentioned it earlier this year. I like how Steven highlighted Nio’s bergamot note “done right” in detail and he suggested useful comparisons for Darley.

I’m in the USA. If I were to win, I’d choose Antonio Alessandria Parfums Fara, but I’d love to win Mousse Arashiyama or Parfums De Marley Darley as well. Thanks for the giveaway! I follow @cafleurebonoffical on Instagram as @mmerline.

  • These options are intriguing, mainly highlighting green, citrus, and menthol scents. I find it delightful how Fara is described as a fragrance that is so refreshing, it’s like wanting to drink it and reminiscent of a Seltz Limone e Sole. That sounds incredibly appealing! However, considering Michelyn’s and Steven’s evaluations, my preferred fragrances would be Parfums De Marley Darley and Xerjoff Nio. When it comes to summer scents, I’m particularly biased toward Parfums de Marly. While I haven’t personally tried Nio, I was drawn to it based on Michelyn’s positive review, as it is one of her favorite scents for the summer. There’s no doubt that these fragrances possess a rare quality that is challenging to find in citrus-based perfumes. They are truly unique and perform exceptionally well, even in hot weather. By the way, you can find me on Instagram as @ealiyahia.
    Best regards from the US!

  • I love bergamot, so Michelyn’s description of “photorealistic” bergamot, and Stephen’s enthusiasm, means it has to be Fara for me. I’m the EU.

    Have a great summer, guys!

    ☆ Antonio Alessandria Parfums Fara
I’m pleasantly surprised by the two Antonio Alessandria fragrances I’ve sampled, and later bought, Fara I’ll sample too. I think in all his fragrances he shows the affinity he has for Sicily.
Both Nuit Rouge and Amado Mio I’ve sampled and bought because of Lauryn Beer reviews on Cafleurebon.
In Sicily , and the region Rhubarb Grapefruit Custard Cake is part of the local culinary. It’s a bit tart , juicy and delicious , just like Nuit Rouge.
Amado Mio smells like Rose Water Stem Ginger Traybake Cake, with slightly candied raspberries on top
The Seltz Limone e Sole comparison Michelyn made ,the finger lime, and the real Calabrian bergamot are all so attractive to me …
☆ Nicolai Parfumeur Createur Cap Neroli
I’ve sampled 3 Nikolai Parfemeur Createur fragrances , Vanille Tonka , Neroli Intense and Angelys Pear , and I wonder if Cap Neroli and Neroli Intense are similar, flankers maybe? Or very different fragrances based on neroli ?!?
    ☆ Xerjoff Nio
Nio i smelled briefly on blotter a few years ago, and I remember being overly tart at the beginning, like a Lemon Tart with slices of lemon on top of it , also the juice, and I also remember smelling fresh mint.
I’ll have to try the fragrance, on skin this time, long lasting quality citrus fragrances are indeed rare.
☆ Le Jardin Retrouve Mousse Arashiyama , freshly mown lawn scent
    ☆ Parfums de Marly Darley

“The vibrant opening is complemented by the sweet sensation of cinnamon and tonka bean”
Way to go , bright and zesty opening, and some sweet nuances in the base.

I know all 5 fragrances chosen by Michelyn and Steven are special, but i can’t stop thinking of Michelyn finger lime with salt comparison, Antonio Alessandria Parfums Fara would be great.
Appreciate Michelyn and Steven reviews, and the giveaway campaign

  • Truly one of the best standout unique co-curated summer fragrances list from Steven and Michelyn;*. I would love to win one of these beautiful fragrances based on both Steven and Michelyn reviews in order of choice of interest; 1. Parfums de Marly Darley 2. Nicolai Parfumeur-Createur Cap Neroli 3. Antonio Alessandria Parfums Fara. 4. Mousse Arashiyama.
I would truly love Darley or any one of these in my life!!! Thanks for the opportunity for these amazing fragrances.
Also I am following @cafleurebonoffical from my Instagram name @calicalnurse. Greetings and gratitude from the USA.

  • After the horrible , almost ice cube Winter season we had , the warmer weather is so welcome
    Antonio Alessandria Parfums Fara
Summer’s barely started and I already have a craving for something refreshing, so Fara sounds perfect to me. And the bottles are so attractive. And I miss Italy!
Nicolai Parfumeur-Createur Cap Neroli welcoming and comfy fragrance , showing us the Mediterranean blooms
    Xerjoff Nio
Xerjoff fragrances are multifaceted , and Nio is a good example. Since I have a sample, I can tell. The green, and the bergamot parts so pronounced, it’s more than tart, it’s almost acidic. It’s so well done, with the cardamom and jasmine, than the mild woodyness.
Not for everyone , but to me , Steven and Michelyn, undoubtedly a stunner .
Le Jardin Retrouve Mousse Arashiyama tranquility in a bottle, coming from Japan
    Parfums de Marly Darley
    “Darley is often overlooked”
I think you are right, I don’t think I’ve even heard the name of fragrance, and I’m a fan of Oajan, and Delina Exclusive, both are staples for me.
Vibrant scent with lavender, mint, cinnamon and tonka bean, sounds impressive.
Parfums de Marly Darley would be my choice
    Thanks for the draw

    Greetings everyone
Out of the five brands today I know Nicolaï Parfumeur Createur , Xerjoff and Parfums de Marly , and from the fragrances recommend by Ms Camen and Mr Gavrielatos I in fact own Nio .
I’m torn between Antonio Alessandria Parfums Fara and Nicolaï Parfumeur Createur Cap Néroli.
I’m interested in Fara because of the more unique finger lime, mint and salt profile , and also in Cap Néroli because of the light ocean breeze feel , and the all day longevity .
I like unique, and not smelling like anyone else so Fara is the fragrance i’d like to win the most
Thank you, American living in Paris France

“People who have to be outside are wearing masks and on the news New York City was rated the 2nd most polluted place in the world.”
Well NYC never been known as a breath of fresh Mediterranean air city, but in no way it’s the 2nd most polluted city in the world. After 4 painful for my lungs days in New Delhi in India last year ,I can say it’s incomparable more polluted than NYC, at one point i though I would collapse from the lack of oxygen.
As usual I’ll share my thoughts on the fragrances chosen by Michelyn and Steven, starting with the way Steven showed them in his video
    5. Nio by Xerjoff
We have a classic one today . Nio is already established as a classic, for a good reason.
Nio goes through a 2-3 phases imo , it hits you with a blast of aromatic, green bergamot, then comes the clean creamy jasmine, and if the base spices , and cedar, while remaining most of it’s floral and fresh aspect.
    4. Mousse Arashiyama by Le Jardin Retrouve , composed by Maxence Moutte
Green fig , mastic and some incense in the base
    3. Cap Neroli by Parfums de Nikolai, composed by Patricia de Nicolai
Long lasting, leaning old-school green fragrance. It’s goes into slightly woody and earthy territory in the base.
    2. Darley by Parfums de Marly, composed by
    Francis Deleamont
Darley is complex , well composed dressed up times fragrance , with slightly sweet undertones. I also agree with Steven about not the same, but in the same ballpark Reflection Man layered with Original Santal by Creed comparison.
    1. Fara by Antonio Alessandria Parfums, composed by Antonio Alessandria himself
I was not aware of the refreshing cocktail, but there’s a lot of mint on my skin, and a pinch of cumin in the background.
    Fara would be great
All profiles I already follow, @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

  • Hello Summer
Antonio Alessandria Parfums Fara is refreshing, and relaxing fragrance, perfect for the summer.
    Parfums de Marly Darley
Talking about flying under the radar elaborate fragrance, close to Reflection Man maybe even better
    Le Jardin Retrouve Mousse Arashiyama
Arashiyama inspired fragrance? Arashiyama Bamboo Forest is a trip I will never forget. In the Arashiyama district, you will find the mesmerising and seemingly endless Arashiyama bamboo grove, showcased in the famous movie “Memoirs of a Geisha”. The walkway starts from the Tenryu-ji Temple (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and ends at the sublime Okochi-Sanso Villa, wrapped by tranquil emerald green gardens. The grove itself is a world unto its own, and strolling amidst the towering bamboo stalks is a must-experience in Kyoto.
    Parfums de Marly Darley please
    Thank you for the opportunity

Thank you Michelyn and Steven! Great reviews and descriptions of these fragrances. I’ve got my sunglasses Bermuda shorts, flip-flops, and a beach within a 2 hour ride…I even have some sand here from visiting the beach last year. All I need now is one of these fabulous fragrances to complete my Summer vacation. While Antonio Alessandria Parfums’ Fara has caught my attention (thanks to Michelyn and Steven’s very positive reviews), I’d be happy to add any of these beautiful creations to my fragrance collection. Thank you for the opportunity 🙂

Thanks for the curated list of these nice summer scents.

Michelyn’s note on Le Jardin Retrouve Mousse Arashiyama was one that caught my eye. I’ve had a chance to sample some of the fragrances from this brand and I absolutely enjoy their aesthetic. Their story of reviving all the old fragrances created by the old perfumer Yuri is one that fascinates me. I also vaguely remember the brand asking the publics opinion on which fragrance should be brought next. I love the idea of bathing in an area, surrounded by just solitude and greenery and this fragrance really resonates with that.

I like Stevens video blurb on it, where he talks about the aquatic, effervescent and brights aspects of this fragrance.

    Cheers from WI, USA

I loved Steven’s video review and Michelyn’s written review of Top Ten Summer Fragrances 2023 Part 2. I love their choices. Nio is a great go to warm weather fragrance that offers sophistication and class. I’ve heard great things about Parfums De Marly Darley which Steven alludes to as a hidden gem which Michelyn agrees is often overlooked by all the heavy hitters from Parfums De Marly. I am very intrigued by Antonio Alessandra Fara which Steven raves about and it’s rated the best summer fragrance by both with fruity, citrusy, and mint notes that blend into something really special. I am following @cafleurebonoffical at @michaelprincefragrance I am from the USA. If I win I would choose.

    1. Parfums De Marly Darley
    2. Nicolai Parfumeur Createur Cap Neroli
    3. Antonio Alessandra Fara
    4. Mousse Arashiyama
