Top 10 Perfumes of 2025 (Nicoleta Tomsa and Oli Marlow) + Part 4 giveaways

Top Ten Perfumes Of 2025

Top10 Perfumes of 2025 Nicoleta Tomsa and Oli Marlow

For the last five years that I’ve been writing for Cafleurebon (time really does fly!), my December ritual has been enriched with one more tradition: Top 10 Perfumes time. And every year, I expect it to be much easier than it actually is. And every year, it absolutely isn’t. Narrowing down a whole year of discoveries, obsessions, and discovery moments to just ten feels… ambitious. Good thing we had a deadline, otherwise the inner fight would never end. –Nicoleta Tomsa, Senior Editor

What were the best top ten perfumes of 2025

Top10 Perfumes of 2025 (Nicoleta Tomsa)

ÇaFleureBon X Darren Alan Perfumes Lipstick Queen (Darren Alan): So let’s begin with the perfume that I had the privilege of co-creative-directing with Editor-in-Chief Michelyn Camen: ÇaFleureBon X Darren Alan Perfumes Lipstick Queen. A scent born from late-night ideas, shared obsessions, and a very specific fantasy: capturing the electric moment when lipstick, desire, and danger meet. Bold, glamorous, unapologetically seductive, this is a tribute to the queens of yesterday and today – those who dare to live life on their own terms, embrace their power, and leave an unforgettable mark on the world. @darren_alan_perfumes

Artist’o  Ode (Nathalie Feisthauer): Ode unfolds like a fragrant poem built on warm, sweet, and gently spicy layers, with a chic, unmistakably French gourmand twist. Raw almonds and heliotrope mingle effortlessly with vanilla and tonka’s rounded edges, subtly accented by a hint of cinnamon. The result is a deliciously refined experience, making you feel effortlessly chic – like slipping into your favorite white linen t-shirt, twisting your hair into the most perfectly imperfect messy bun, and applying just a whisper of red lipstick, blurred with your fingertips. (if you know, you know.) @nathaliefeisthauer @artistoparis

Élisire Aliksir Review (Philippine Courtière) “Moments like this are buds on the tree of life. Flowers of darkness they are.” The stories painted in scent and light by Élisire have grown richer by one more chapter with Aliksir, an amber-hued elixir of alchemy crafted to capture twilight itself, and the fragile magic of the golden hour. Sensual crimson reds, warm brass, rich coppers, and deep green earthy tones unfold with mandarin, elemi, oud, exotic woods, suede leather, and patchouli – for a golden aura that makes my inner Mrs. Dalloway swoon in delight. @elisire_parfums @philippine.courtiere

Essential Parfums Velvet Iris (Dominique Ropion): this is sheer elegance with its collar undone. Controlled on the surface, restless underneath – it starts upright, composed, green, then slowly loses its distance, sinking into something tactile, fuzzy, and unapologetically addictive. Quietly dangerous and intensely human, this is one unexpected iris I (quite expectedly) fell in love with from the very first try. @essential.parfums @dominiqueropionparfumeur

Manos Gerakinis Amandus (Sofia Bardelli): the name says it all, as this is a fragrance truly worthy of love. Built around the almond and its beautiful myth of a heartbroken princess turned into a tree, a pure love preserved in bloom, that still echoes today in sugar-dusted almonds passed from hand to hand at Greek weddings. The scent unfolds cocooning and intimate, with a powdery warmth that drifts into caramelized depths – buttery, toasted – wrapped in a floral haze that feels like sublimated light, trailing softly into a lactonic caress. @sofiabardelli.perfumer@manosgerakinisparfums

Top 10 best perfumes of 2025

Nos Republic Cor Serpentis(Stephanie Bakouche) unfolds like a transmission from an alien biosphere cool, luminous, and faintly dangerous. Acidic ozone, camphor crystals, and sulfur-tinged blackcurrant shimmer against an uncanny purple backdrop, while pine absolute and magnetic vetiver root the composition in a soil that feels unfamiliar, charged, alive. Beautiful, unsettling& alien. @nosrepublicperfumes@sensabaperfumeisart

Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta (Margaux Le Paih-Guérin): This is a full cinematic arc – with character development, plot twists, and an architecture that feels alive on the skin, on each wear. There’s humour, danger, sensuality, and that unmistakable Sarah Baker touch running through it all: playful, bold, sleek, artistic, self-aware, a little wicked, and always dressed & picture perfect for the close-up. A vanilla you don’t mess with – complex, weathered, touched by smoke and time and maybe by something a little dangerous, too. This is vanilla that’s seen things. Done things. Survived to tell the tale.@houseofsarahbaker @margaux.lepaih.guerin

Śasva Saaqi (Chris Maurice) takes us on a journey into a tavern along the Silk Road, where India meets Persia. Each sip becomes a taste of both desire and the divine – a tribute to the Sufi wine bearer who pours not just wine, but a passage to eternity, where yearning transforms into enlightenment. Elusive yet grounded, mystical yet deeply sensual, Saaqi carries its own gravity, yet it remains as comfortable as an embrace. @sasvaparfums@cdelaniche

Testament London Twisted Hearts (Gokhan Simsek & Bogdan Vlad): A very cinematic take on the scent-scape of Manhattan: a slightly grainy black-and-white scene, with jazz drifting up from a posh speakeasy basement bar, rain reflecting the lights of glass towers. The mark of a drink left on a polished, textured counter; echoes of laughter, there where everything feels possible, yet slightly unreal. A boozy take built around champagne, cacao, milk, and pineapple – a cocktail of emotions that gets you addicted really fast, really, really bad. @testament.collection@bogdan_vlaad@smsekgokhn

YLEM Parfums Soap Bubble(Andreas Wilhelm) is a clean scent – but elevated to new cosmic heights. A modern vision of freshness: minimal yet emotional, transparent yet unforgettable. A scent floating in that liminal space between skin and the space we inhabit that is highly artistic through concept and execution, yet disarmingly feel–good and easy to wear.@YLEM.parfums @wilhelmperfume

Best New House Of 2025: YLEM Parfums

Eastern Veil by Ylem Parfums

YLEM Parfums sits right in that rare intersection where science, mysticism, and imagination overlap – translating nebulae, the birthplaces of stars, into precious, otherworldly fragrances pinpointed in this olfactive edition of a star map. Its very name, YLEM, comes from astronomy: the term used for the primordial substance of the universe, a dense and incandescent matter which, according to the Big Bang theory, gave birth to everything we know today. As a self-confessed sci-fi aficionado, whenever the Venn diagram of perfumery, storytelling, and cosmic imagination overlaps, my eyes instantly light up with little pixelated hearts. Discovering that the perfumer behind the creations of the house is none other than Andreas Wilhelm, whose work I already am a fan of – only made the gravitational pull stronger. Add to that the sleek, minimalist, art-gallery-meets-contemporary-luxury feel of the packaging, the near-obsessive perfectionism behind every detail (just zoom in on that very-on-brand cap!), and the highly curated visuals – and you begin to sense a project born out of pure love for the art of fragrance in its truest, most artistic form. @YLEM.parfums @wilhelmperfume

Top 10 best perfumes of 2025

I was looking back over the list of perfumes I’ve written about, all the samples I’ve accrued over the last 12 months and the various notes I’ve made on my phone and what’s immediately obvious is that I don’t really have a set type. There are predictable stylistic entries in this list for sure (leathers, grassy ones, trad masculine bits and colognes), but as far as a unifying thread that binds these standouts goes… I have no idea whatsoever. Enjoy! –Oli Marlow, Senior Contributor

Best Niche perfumes of 2025

Top10 Perfumes of 2025-Oli

Puredistance Ysayo (Antoine Lie): The perfume I loved the most this year was a late entry: Ysayo from Puredistance. I’m positive that’s partly because I had to work to try and understand it. A categorically unique composition from perfumer Antoine Lie, it’s a nature-dense, weirdly medicinal smelling, leathery, green perfume that the brand calls a ‘green samurai’. I just call it a big win. @antoinelieolfactiveexperience @puredistancemasterperfumes

Ataratma London Rati Patchouli (Tanguy Guesnet): To be candid: I’ve been working with the newly minted Ataratma London brand for a large part of this last year (it launched in September) and it’s definitely that kind of prolonged exposure that’s precisely why two of their fragrances are appearing in this list. Rati Patchouli was an instant love that has really wormed its way under my skin: a modernist fusion of fruits and LMR’s Patchouli Heart No. 3 that feels plump, alluring and a little bit plastic-y in the best way possible. @ataratmalondon @tanguyguesnet.parfumeur

Top 10 best perfumes of 2025

Ataratma London Shakti Saffron (Nelly Hachem-Ruiz): Shakti Saffron is a bit of a different beast altogether. A thick, granular, powerhouse composition from Nelly Hachem-Ruiz that wonderfully combines saffron and oakmoss – two fantastically dry materials that actually fuse together way more seamlessly than you might expect.@ataratmalondon @nellyhachemruiz_perfumer

Organ Tale Devenir (Bertrand Duchaufour): One of the brands I stumbled over at the debut Niche Show in London, Organ Tale is a young Korean brand that’s been quietly working with big name French perfumers for a couple of years. Bertrand Duchaufour’s Devenir is near faultless; it takes all the ingredients and aromas you’d expect from a cologne (citruses, herbal nuances, florals and woods) and serves them up at 40% dilution under the label of a cologne absolute. @organtale @bertrand.duchaufour

Ode Ona Dawn Earth (Undisclosed): I’ve been trying to write about this one for months (!!!) but for some reason I just can’t get my thoughts together enough to describe it in detail. It’s essentially a fragrance inspired by forest bathing (think earth, moss, woods and greenery) but there’s tricks and levels to it that properly elevate the form. The almost roasted coffee note in the opening… the unique and weirdly bitter mastic note in the heart… It’s just all kinds of incredible. @ode.ona

Jovoy Parfums Ha Long Bay (Veronique Nyberg): For a while there, it got kind of hard to avoid the big, thick, fruity fragrances. Ha Long Bay from Jovoy Parfums managed to sidestep any sickly, underwhelming oversweetness by shooting for a nature identical mango aroma (achieved with Mane’s Jungle Essence technology). If it was just that on its own, it’d be noteworthy, but the twist it takes into deep, butter-leather territory means it really sticks out. @jovoyparfums @francoisheninjovoy @veroniquenyberg_official

Atelier Materi Black Oregano (Celine Pedriel): It still smells wild, the extrait strength combination of oregano and leather (that I reviewed last month). I can’t think of anything else I’ve smelled this year that has come anywhere near it, in terms of concept. @ateliermateri @celine.perdriel.perfumer

Essential Parfums Velvet Iris (Dominique Ropion): Dominique Ropion’s outing for Essential Parfums is a pretty literal olfactive portrait of the entire iris flower – from the terroir and soil it grows in, through to the sturdy green stems that are topped with those instantly recognisable purple flowers. He uses materials you wouldn’t expect (turmeric and buchu) to create nuances you didn’t know you needed (spicy suede) and at this price point? *Chef’s kiss* Perfection.@essential.parfums @dominiqueropionparfumeur

Nissaba Les Alpes (Fabrice Pellegrin): Nissaba’s Les Alpes seemingly shares very little traits with anything else on this list, but that’s exactly why it’s so good! You could consider it to be a bit of a throwback, classic masculine sillage with soapy and spicy aspects, but it’s built around a contrast between cool air and warm, spicy juniper berries.@nissaba.fragrances @fabnose

Carner Barcelona La Playa (Adriana Medina-Baez): Like the name suggests, La Playa from Carner Barcelona is inspired by a day at the beach but it’s way more than that surf, salt and sand suggestion. Unsubtle hints of coconut, tonka bean and vanilla make it smell like the zenith of luxury sun tan lotion that you wish your supermarket SPF smelled like. @carnerbarcelona

  • I’m genuinely curious to experience a non dark liquor boozy take in a perfume. My love for the likes of Monkey Special and Slumberhouse Jeke has been slowly dying these last few years as I see 50 on the horizon. Testament’s boozy take built around champagne, cacao, milk, and pineapple sounds like a delightful alternative.

I would choose Testament London Twisted if I were to win. I’m also in the US.

  • Thank you to Nicoleta and Oli for sharing their lists, I appreciate that it’s hard to narrow down the choices in a sea of perfume. My interest is piqued by Nos Republic Cor Serpentis – as a blackcurrant and fir fan, and a sci-fi fan, I’m predisposed to like it. With the otherworldly vibe, it sounds like something that I haven’t tried before, and I could use a bit of escapism. My top pick to win from this giveaway would be Testament Twisted Hearts. I am having a hard time imagining how the notes mesh together, which, of course, makes me quite curious. I like some unexpected cocktails, so a boozy perfume with a twist sounds like a cool way to enter a new year. I am in the USA, thank you for the draw!

  • Nicoleta’s list reads like a series of beautifully shot film scenes, each perfume a character with its own arc. Her description of YLEM Parfums Soap Bubble as “a scent floating in that liminal space between skin and the space we inhabit” is pure poetry—it captures the elusive magic I seek in fragrance. Oli’s no-nonsense praise for Atelier Materi Black Oregano (“I can’t think of anything else I’ve smelled this year that has come anywhere near it”) makes it an instant must-try. From the giveaway, my heart is set on the cinematic cocktail of Testament London Twisted Hearts. That image of a “grainy black-and-white scene” with jazz and rain in Manhattan is irresistible. I am in the EU.

  • Firstly, thank you to both Oli and Nicoleta for sharing their Top 10s. What I enjoy about both of their lists, and everybody else’s Top 10s, is that it is a true insight into not only their individual tastes, but their personalities. In particular, the cinematic scent-scape description of Twisted Hearts, which leads be to say that:

If I were to win, I would like Twisted Hearts by Testament London – my hometown!

    London, UK

  • TheScentedPage says:

Nicoleta and Oli’s descriptions are cinematic. I’m always interested when independent people choose the same fragrance as a favorite. Sometimes their interactions are quite different.

Seeing Black Oregano appear on another Top 10 list is moving it higher in my must try list. Velvet Iris also appeared on both Nicoleta and Oli’s lists. Hmmm.

From the drawing, my preference is for Élisire Aliksir.

  • I’ve already tried Velvet Iris and Black Oregano – they are amazing. Thank you Nicoleta and Oli for your top 10 selections. Cor Serpentis sounds so cool with the alien biosphere inspiration. I also want to try Nissaba Les Alpes with the classic masculine cool air and juniper berries accords.

If I am lucky to win I would chose Élisire Aliksir. I can’t resist an “amber-hued elixir of alchemy crafted to capture twilight” 😉

    Greetings from EU.

  • After reading the reviews I became interested in Lipstick Queen and Black Oregano. For the draw I choose Velvet Iris. US

  • wonderscent.mari says:

All of these choices sound absolutely delightful in their own ways! I think this year there were so many great releases and it’s normal that I couldn’t try all, but thanks to your recommendations help me discover new olfactory treasures.
1.I am incredibly curious to try by Manos Gerakinis Amandus but also want desperately explore his fragrances a bit further. The description of a powdery warmth that drifts into caramelized depths wrapped in a floral bouquet sounds so beautiful and delicate.
2.Another house that I am going to sample is Nos Republic. I just Adore the unique storytelling that they create through their fragrances. Cor Serpentis has an otherworldly one with notes that evoke feelings and impressions.
I had the opportunity to try Ylem fragrances and I already enjoy Soap Bubble! I am happy to see that this new niche house is in this list cause they amazingly blend art, science, and imagination into something both cerebral and emotional.
    3. A house that I haven’t tried or heard before is Ode Ona. Olis’ description of Dawn Earth truly intrigued my interest, especially the way it sounds. Love forest inspired fragrances with different facets and unique compositions.
4.Lastly but not least a fragrance that I heard a lot since it’s release is Ha Long Bay by Jovoy. A very different mango with a bright juicy opening and a classy creamy dry down. Definitely on my try list!
If I’m so lucky as the win the draw, Testament London Twisted Hearts would be my pick. The boozy dark cocktail that can be addicted with its dangerous alluring facets, milky, creamy, airy and narcotic. Sounds truly divine!
Thank you for the nice overview and reviews.
Wishing a Happy New Year to everyone!

  • Nuvare Aenra says:

The duality of these lists is captivating. Nicoleta’s Artist’o Ode sounds like the essence of chic simplicity, that “perfectly imperfect messy bun” scent. But it’s her evocative language for Élisire Aliksir that truly enchanted me: “an amber-hued elixir of alchemy crafted to capture twilight itself, and the fragile magic of the golden hour.” To wear a fragrance described as “sensual crimson reds” and “deep green earthy tones” is a dream. That is the elixir I wish to win. I am in the EU.

  • AromaAdventurer says:

Seeing Essential Parfums Velvet Iris on both lists is a powerful endorsement! Nicoleta calls it “sheer elegance with its collar undone,” while Oli highlights the genius of using turmeric and buchu for “spicy suede.” This consensus tells me it’s a masterclass in reinterpreting a classic note. Oli’s intrigue with Ode Ona Dawn Earth and its “unique and weirdly bitter mastic note” also piques my curiosity. For the draw, the boozy, emotional complexity of Twisted Hearts a “cocktail of emotions that gets you addicted” sounds like my kind of danger.
    EU based

  • Nicoleta has a gift for weaving narrative into scent. Her depiction of Manos Gerakinis Amandus, connecting the almond to the myth of a heartbroken princess, adds such a poignant layer to what already sounds like a “cocooning and intimate” fragrance. I’m equally drawn to Oli’s struggle to describe Ode Ona Dawn Earth, which only makes me want to smell it more! However, the giveaway calls for a choice, and I’m utterly seduced by the concept of Élisire Aliksir as a bottled “golden hour.” I want to wear that twilight magic.
    EU.

  • FragranceFrenzyS says:

Nos Republic Cor Serpentis on Nicoleta’s list sounds like nothing else: “a transmission from an alien biosphere… Beautiful, unsettling & alien.” That’s the kind of bold, conceptual artistry that excites me. Similarly, Oli’s praise for Puredistance Ysayo as a “categorically unique… weirdly medicinal smelling, green samurai” confirms it as a priority sniff. But for the draw, I’m leaning into the dark, cinematic glamour Nicoleta promised with Twisted Hearts. And would love to win it. EU.

  • The rich, narrative depth of Nicoleta’s selections is stunning. Śasva Saaqi, described as a journey “where yearning transforms into enlightenment,” sounds profoundly beautiful. Yet, it’s the quote about Élisire Aliksir that I keep rereading: “Moments like this are buds on the tree of life. Flowers of darkness they are.” A fragrance conceived with such poetic philosophy, meant to capture twilight’s “fragile magic,” is a work of art I long to experience firsthand. EU based and would be honoured to win Élisire Aliksir.

  • Kassie Tocko says:

another 2 lists of lovely choices. i was really taken in immediately with nicoleta begins w/the fragrance lipstick queen- “a scent born from late-night ideas, shared obsessions, and a very specific fantasy: capturing the electric moment when lipstick, desire, and danger meet. bold, glamorous, unapologetically seductive, this is a tribute to the queens of yesterday and today – those who dare to live life on their own terms, embrace their power, and leave an unforgettable mark on the world.”i just loved this SO much for personal reasons… reading that part made me a bit emotional & i love how fragrances can do that. the story telling & ideas behind them- this is one i definitely need to try! it sounds like confidence in a bottle & that is exactly what this gal needs! :). i love all the different choices & opinions of both nicoleta & oli, so that we can dive into different tastes & explore different fragrance facets. i, again, loved reading about ylem & it really made me want to explore that brand even more since it was chosen by two people. i can’t imagine how hard it is to choose only 10 fragrances when one has so many to choose from throughout the year! to make these top 10 from any of these persons is a real accomplishment, so, of course we are going to be so very curious of these brands, now & learning about them! for me, it’d be like a an esteemed award! all of you guys are so talented in the fragrance world in so many ways, that, to be a name on any of these lists would be incredible! & then, to share those lists with us is also such a present! we get to look into these fragrance brands that stood out to such respected individuals in the fragrance community- thank you for this wonderful gift, everyone! it’s so very appreciated! i have never tried any of these, but, feel like i have just by reading— but, if i had to choose it might be twisted hearts. :). i am in the united states- thank you, again.

  • This was such an enjoyable read — what struck me most in this Part 4 is how clearly each personality comes through. Nicoleta’s sensitivity to atmosphere and Oli’s sharp eye for character make the selections feel refreshingly honest rather than predictable. I also appreciated the surprising contrasts in the list — perfumes that comfort sitting alongside those that challenge and provoke. It really captures how varied and alive perfumery feels this year.

If I were to win, I would choose Velvet Iris from Essential Parfums.

    Riccardo, Belgium EU

  • Both Nicoleta’s and Oli’s end of the year picks sound daring, deep, full of strength and flavours – if I close my eyes, I see dark colours, plush touches and radiating warmth. Except Soap Bubble, which seems to be a ray of light and crispness that mmmmakes me sigh.
Congrats to Nicoleta for her contribution in Lipstick Queen.
Since both included Velvet Iris among their 2025 best of the best, nothing would please me more but having a chance to smell it, if I’d be that lucky 🙂
Thanks for the draw, your efforts throughout the year and Happy New Year from EU!

  • Another great list of scents for 2025. Standouts for me were Cor Ser Serpentis with its purple core; a scent that taps into an interplanetary vibe with a composition based on ozonic notes, an acidic ocean, camphor crystals, sulfur and black currants, pine absolute, vetiver, and mysterious extraterrestrial minerals, to create the illusion of an unearthly, xenic, alien terrain that is ripe for exploration; Velvet Iris, A green, woody orris that celebrates the iris flower and Velvet Vendetta, a nuanced and complex scent which showcases a sublime and rich vanilla absolute making it standout in a sea of vanilla gourmands.
Essential Parfums Velvet Iris sparks my interest.
    USA

  • This was a really compelling Top 10 from Nicoleta and Oli; curated, confident, and full of personality. What pulled me in right away was the sense that these choices weren’t just about what’s “good,” but about what moved them. The descriptions made several of the perfumes feel alive on the page. One quote that really resonated was the notion that perfume is as much about presence as projection, which feels very true to how I wear and experience scent.

I’m in the USA. If I win, sign me up for a bottle of Twisted Hearts.

  • Nicoleta brings up the magic of deadlines. It is so true. One could go on debating, deciding, and refining forever if it weren’t for a deadline.
So many different takes, so many different scents to try!
I would love to try: Aliksir, Cor Serpentis, Soap Bubble, YSAYO, Dawn Earth, Ha Long Bay and Black Oregano, but I think the one I’d like to win from this list is Velvet Iris. I am in the US.

  • I remember those sugar-dusted almonds and Amandus is on my wishlist. As a fan of Dominique Ropion’s creativity, I would love to try Velvet Iris from Essential Parfums. The Buchu or Agathosma note sounds intriguing. Thanks for a wonderful article and draw. MI USA

  • Nicoleta and Oli’s lists are both so vivid and personal – Nicoleta’s poetic, cinematic descriptions and Oli’s sharp, no-nonsense takes make every choice feel alive. The overlap on Essential Parfums Velvet Iris immediately caught my eye, when two discerning noses agree on the same fragrance, it jumps straight to the top of my must-try list. I’m also fascinated by Nos Republic Cor Serpentis (“beautiful, unsettling & alien”) and the cosmic minimalism of YLEM Soap Bubble. Nicoleta’s line about Velvet Iris – “sheer elegance with its collar undone”-perfectly captures the kind of quiet danger I love in perfume. I would love to win Élisire Aliksir. I live in Poland, EU.

  • I am drawn in by most of the bottles, purely for the bottle design, they are elegant and subdued. Ode Ona Dawn Earth and Blacl Oregano are alluring and I appreciate non gourmand leanings in those. But out of all, this time I have to say I would like to try Essential Parfums Velvet Iris, especially its description as an olfactive portrait of the entire iris flower, and having the nuances you didn’t know you needed. I live in the EU.

  • I love the variety in these top 10s. I wish i had the opportunity to try them all. I’m really happy Saaqi made Nicolette’s top 10. I tried it and fell in love and had to have it. Something with the wine and spices it’s done to perfection. I really want to try Artists o ode and Velvet Vendetta. I love a vanilla in the cold months. La Playa is on my list to pick up in the new year. It’s a beautiful fragrance and reminds me of a summer vacation. I love powdery iris so am also very interested in velvet iris. Twisted Hearts would be my choice if i was lucky enough to win. I like the inspiration and the boozy cocktail notes draw me in. I’m in USA Pennsylvania

  • Ramses Perez says:

This is how much fragrance is subjective. Today I watched a video of a very famous YouTube reviewer who put Black Oregano in last place for this house and Olí and a few others have put it as their top 10 best releases of the year. This is why you really need to try the fragrance yourself on your skin and be happy with how it smells on YOU, and not care about what other thinks. I’m saying all of this because different noses smells different things and these 2 noses are very experienced. They’re not looking for the run of the mill scent, they’re looking for weird, alien, exotic fragrances that have never been done before d mixing unconventional materials or coming up with new ones is how you win over trained noses. There’s an overlap with some of the scents that made the list compared to the others and I still wanna try them all as I haven’t had the chance to yet. A few notable ones I really want to try are La Playa, Black Oregano, Twisted Hearts and Velvet Iris. Should I be so lucky, I’m going for Testament London’s Twisted Heart as my pick. I’m located in the US.

  • This is like a shared love letter to fragrance, and it made me reflect on how much storytelling elevates scent for me personally. While I’m especially drawn to Margaux Le Paih-Guérin’s artistry, this time it was Gokhan Simsek and Bogdan Vlad’s Testament London Twisted Hearts narrative that really hooked my imagination with its Manhattan mood. Quite a vivid evocation of New York’s electric, indulgent pulse, where that hazy sense of slightly unreal possibility lingers like the secret thrill we harbor for all our guilty pleasures. Even though I haven’t had the chance to try any of these yet, if I’m lucky enough to win, Philippine Courtière’s Élisire Aliksir just joined in my must-try list. That description of an amber-hued elixir capturing twilight and the fragile magic of golden hour, as someone who lives for chasing those exact luminous moments through my camera lens, feels like it was written for everything I love in perfume. And the line “Moments like this are buds on the tree of life. Flowers of darkness they are.” is the quote that truly stayed with me, because it perfectly distills the way a beautiful fragrance can turn fleeting, yet deeper reflection into something quietly unforgettable.

    – USA –

  • Another duo of top ten lists filled with fragrances I have yet to experience! Though there are a few here already in my list of scents to sample, namely Black Oregano, Ysayo, Saaqi, and Velvet Vendetta. Essential Parfums Velvet Iris is the only one listed here that I’ve had the good fortune of sampling and while I really enjoyed it this smells very much like another Ropion creation in Ralph’s Club Elixir. Élisire Aliksir sounds incredible to me and is my choice if I’m lucky enough to win. I’m in the USA

  • I have only tried Nissaba Les Alpes and it is very highly ranked for me as well! There are many I would love to try. The new brand Ylem sounds amazing, and the astronomy inspiration is just a plus in my book! New brands for me are also Ataratma London and Ode Ona, so these have to be added to my to try list. Also…Artist’o Ode is stunning…heliotrope, almond, tonic…and the bottle is so beautiful.
For the giveaway I’ll chose Testament London Twisted Hearts because if a fragrance reminds of jazz, speakeasy a baseman bar, it means I will certainly like it. The milk, cacao and champagne notes sound so nice, but the pineapple twist is what I’m interested in discovering. Cheers from Illinois, US.

  • Oh, what a list. I’m a lover of multiple fragrances from Dominique Ropion and when his name pops up on a list, my antennae activates 🙂 Velvet Iris sounds the most intriguing to me and I’m in USA. Happy New Year everyone

  • These Top 10 lists always remind me how personal perfume is. Nicoleta writes in moods and images, Oli writes like a man who knows what he likes, and together it feels honest, not trendy.

The one description that stayed with me was Twisted Hearts, that black-and-white Manhattan feeling with jazz and rain, and a drink ring left on the counter. It sounds like a night out captured in a bottle, a little indulgent but still put together.

What sparks my interest most is that champagne, cacao, milk, and pineapple idea, it sounds comforting and a bit playful at the same time. If I win, I would like Testament London Twisted Hearts.

    I reside in the USA.

  • So many good choices as well as some I had not heard of. I’ve smelled all the “queens” so far, I need to test this one from Darren. Nissaba de Alpes has my attention because one of the first perfumers I was seeking out was Fabrice with his Diptyque creations. I’d love to win Twisted Hearts, love a pineapple note. Happy Fragrant New Year’s to all. USA.

  • I am taking notes. Of particular interest are Artist’o Ode, which sounds like a perfect fragrance to me, and Amandus. I loved hearing the almond history via Greek legend; I didn’t know that! Both and several others are on my To Try List now. I live in the US and if selected, I would pick Velvet Iris, which is another one that sounds perfect for me!

  • I enjoyed the year-in-review part 4. Particularly reading about Ylem parfums and black oregano! I liked the concept!
I am interested in trying Essential velvet iris bc I am a fan of Ropion’s take on Iris!

    USA

  • Nicoleta’s description of Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta is iconic: “A vanilla you don’t mess with… This is vanilla that’s seen things. Done things.” What a character! Oli’s inclusion of Nissaba Les Alpes as a “throwback, classic masculine sillage” with a cool/warm contrast also caught my eye for its timelessness. But for the giveaway, the pull of Twisted Hearts is too strong. The idea of a scent that’s a “boozy take built around champagne, cacao, milk, and pineapple” promises such a unique, addictive elegance. I am in the EU. I want to win Twisted Hearts.

  • Both editors highlight such interesting textural contrasts. Oli’s take on Ataratma London Rati Patchouli as “plump, alluring and a little bit plastic-y in the best way” is a fascinating descriptor. Nicoleta’s note on Essential Parfums Velvet Iris becoming “tactile, fuzzy, and unapologetically addictive” promises an iris with real grip. My giveaway choice, however, is guided by Nicoleta’s alchemical prose for Élisire Aliksir. A scent weaving “mandarin, elemi, oud, exotic woods, suede leather, and patchouli” into a “golden aura” is a masterpiece I need to know.

  • AromaAdventurer says:

As a film lover, Nicoleta’s list is a dream. Each perfume is a scene. Testament London Twisted Hearts is described with such specific imagery “rain reflecting the lights of glass towers,” “the mark of a drink left on a polished counter.” It’s a full mood in a bottle. Oli’s shout-out to Jovoy Parfums Ha Long Bay for sidestepping sickly sweetness with a “deep, butter-leather” twist also sounds brilliant. But the call of that Manhattan speakeasy is too strong to ignore. I am in the EU and would love to win Twisted Hearts.

  • The lyrical quality of Nicoleta’s writing makes every perfume feel like a living entity. The idea behind Manos Gerakinis Amandus as “a pure love preserved in bloom” is heartbreakingly beautiful. Oli’s candid admission about Ode Ona Dawn Earth—that he’s been trying to write about it for months—is the highest compliment; some scents defy words. For the draw, I am captivated by the timeless, twilight poetry of Élisire Aliksir. To wear something that makes one’s “inner Mrs. Dalloway swoon in delight” is the goal. Want to win it. EU based

  • FragranceFrenzyS says:

Oli’s list has that brilliant, relatable edge calling Puredistance Ysayo a “big win” after having to “work to understand it” is so real. Carner Barcelona La Playa as the “zenith of luxury sun tan lotion” also sounds like a perfect escape. But Nicoleta’s vision for Twisted Hearts clinches it for me. The concept is just too cool: a scent-scape of a posh, rainy Manhattan speakeasy. It sounds like the signature scent of a fascinating protagonist. I am entering for Testament London Twisted Hearts. EU, Germany

  • The discovery of YLEM Parfums as Best New House across both parts of this review has me utterly intrigued. Nicoleta’s passion for where “science, mysticism, and imagination overlap” is palpable. Oli’s appreciation for Organ Tale Devenir as a “near faultless” cologne absolute also notes a brand to watch. For the giveaway, the opulent, twilight elegance of Élisire Aliksir stands out. A fragrance described as an “elixir of alchemy” designed to capture the “fragile magic of the golden hour” represents the pinnacle of niche perfumery as art. Want to win Aliksir! EU.

  • I love these end-of-year roundups, and this one was a treat! Nicoleta has reminded me that I need to try Lipstick Queen and Cor Serpentis, and Oli has put Velvet Iris on the top of my Most Wanted list!

Please enter me in the draw for Essential Parfums Velvet Iris.
I am in Chicago, IL, USA.

  • Love how Nicoleta admits Top 10 season never gets easier, that deadline line is too real. Her picks read like little films, like Testament London Twisted Hearts as a grainy Manhattan scene with jazz, rain on glass towers, and a polished bar top that still remembers the night.

Oli’s list had that same directness, especially with Puredistance Ysayo as a “green samurai,” and the way he talks about Organ Tale Devenir as a cologne absolute at 40 percent. The overlap on Essential Parfums Velvet Iris also says a lot, when two very different writers both circle the same iris.

What sparks my interest most, and what I’d actually want to wear, is Twisted Hearts. Champagne, cacao, milk, and pineapple sounds like a weird, classy cocktail that could stay smooth on skin without turning loud or sticky sweet. If I win, I’d like Testament London Twisted Hearts.

    I live in the USA.

  • I really liked the description of Twisted Hearts and reading it, it’s like I could almost imagine the entire scenery. Also the black and white picture of Nicoleta only adds up to the intensity of the description, as she is fit to be in the role of a classic ‘femme fatale’, right in the middle of all that’s going on with Twisted Hearts.
I am based in the EU. Thank you!

  • I was very happy to see on this years list, a favorite for me Darren Alan’s Lipstick Queen! It’s so perfectly made and I just love his work! Also love Black Oregano, it looks like it would be heavy and dense but it’s nothing like that. It’s very smooth, mild, lightly spiced and perfectly wearable. Organ Tale is the house I’m most interested here as I’ve never tried them and 40% is no joke!
If I’m lucky enough to win I’d choose twisted heart. I am located in the US. Thank you for your time on this yearly must read!

  • The way both Nicoleta and Oli approach their selections feels refreshingly honest—Nicoleta with her cinematic storytelling and Oli’s direct “I don’t really have a set type” admission. That authenticity makes these lists resonate more than polished marketing ever could.
What immediately sparked my interest was the overlap on Essential Parfums Velvet Iris. When two writers with distinctly different voices both choose the same fragrance, it demands attention. Nicoleta’s description—”sheer elegance with its collar undone… controlled on the surface, restless underneath”—perfectly captures the kind of paradox I find most compelling in perfume. And Oli’s technical appreciation of how Ropion uses turmeric and buchu to create “spicy suede” nuances shows there’s genuine craft behind the poetry.
I’m also fascinated by Oli’s confession about Ode Ona Dawn Earth: “I’ve been trying to write about this one for months but for some reason I just can’t get my thoughts together.” That struggle to articulate something speaks volumes—sometimes the most memorable fragrances are the ones that defy description, the “roasted coffee note in the opening” and “weirdly bitter mastic” that just work in ways words can’t quite capture.
Nicoleta’s description of Testament London Twisted Hearts as a “grainy black-and-white scene, with jazz drifting up from a posh speakeasy basement bar” creates such a specific mood. That champagne, cacao, milk, and pineapple combination sounds like the kind of unexpected cocktail that could surprise you into loving something you didn’t know you wanted.
If I’m fortunate enough to win, I’d choose Testament London Twisted Hearts.
    Living in the EU

  • Really love Nicoleta’s Top Ten selection of 2025. The most which appeal to me are Vepvet Vendetta but my heart is set on Twisted Hearts haha. I’d love to take part in the giveaway
Thank you and Happy Fragrant New Year for the lovely Cafleurbon team !
    Based in the EU

  • Oh, these are some very interesting choices and I haven’t tried anything but Atelier Materi Black Oregano.
Nicoleta got me interested in ÇaFleureBon X Darren Alan Perfumes Lipstick Queen – “Bold, glamorous, unapologetically seductive” and Testament London Twisted Hearts – “A boozy take built around champagne, cacao, milk, and pineapple – a cocktail of emotions that gets you addicted really fast, really, really bad.”
From Oli’s top 10, I’d love to try Nissaba Les Alpes – “built around a contrast between cool air and warm, spicy juniper berries”.
I’d really really love to win Testament London Twisted Hearts.
    EU

  • Haven’t smelled any of these unfortunately, but I am very curious about Velvet Iris as Madalina wrote she fell in love with it from the first try. My favorite release this year that I have tried (haven’t tried much new releases) was Muguet from Guerlain.
Thanks for this, I am in the EU.

  • Incredible lists of niche perfumes that I need to try! Velvet iris has been on my list for a while as the brand has done some great stuff and at a great price point. Love the green iris note. As I live in NYC, the testament perfume also strokes my curiosity! Live in US

  • Once again, I would like to thank the entire editorial team for these lists of the best fragrances. From the last proposition, I was interested in the Elisire Aliksir perfume with its riot of colors creating a golden aura to capture the twilight. I was also interested in the dangerous, sensual vanilla that “survived to tell the tale” in Velvet Vendetta. Almost each of these fragrances has something that attracts me: a lactonic caress of Amandus, a transmission from an alien biosphere by Cor Serpentis, mystical yet deeply sensual Saaqi, Twisted Hearts which transports to the scent-scape of Manhattan, modern vision of freshness by Soap Bubble, weirdly medicinal Ysayo. It would probably be easier to list those perfumes that did not arouse my need to get to know them.
I would love to win Elisire Alixir or Twisted Hearts.
    I live in the EU.

    Hi there,

Another fascinating roundup; I love these, every year! I was struck by the mixed selections from both new and more established brands; I look to Carner Barcelona, especially, as I am so fond of an earlier release(Palo Santo).

And a quote: “The result is a deliciously refined experience, making you feel effortlessly chic – like slipping into your favorite white linen t-shirt, twisting your hair into the most perfectly imperfect messy bun, and applying just a whisper of red lipstick, blurred with your fingertips.” This was to describe Artist’o Ode, and goshdarnit I am totally hooked, without even smelling it. 🙂

Thank you so much for this offer; I am in NYC/USA and would love to win Essential Parfums Velvet Iris, and give it a good home for the New Year.

    Cheers,
    Deborah

  • I have tried almost the entire collection of Essential Parfums, but Velvet Iris is one of the three I have yet to try. I really like the notes and I have high hopes for it, more so knowing that it was created by Dominique Ropion.
    Thanks! Europe

  • Great List by Nicoleta and Oli really intrigued by Sasva Saaqi and Atelier Materi Black oregano respectively. I am loving the boozy, lactonic and fruity notes in Testament London Twisted Hearts. If I am successful would love it if I won Testament London Twisted Hearts. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • SayNoToDrugsAndAlcohol says:

Thanks for the nice writeups and lists Nicoleta Tomsa and Oli Marlow
I’m not quite sure why 2025 has seen so many new fragrances – it is a trend that I am quite curious , no wonder it’s getting harder for Nicoleta to narrow down her best.
There are daring, pushing the boundaries fragrances as well as compliment getters of all kinds in both contributors lists . I’m pleased by unique expressive medium Nicoleta and Oli were able to find, exactly what I was looking , still showing the proof of perfumery as true works of art.
Sinse I love fruity and ambery fragrances and also the brand of Śasva , I’m glad Saaqi made it to the lists.
All Śasva fragrances are opulent, sophisticated , with Indian references but at the same time could go into such a different directions , I like the way Chris Maurice picked th partially Indian and Persian rich cultural heritage and built upon it with mulled wine, almonds, smoky and caramel layers.
It’s striking that vanilla could go into such a different directions , with Velvet Vendetta specifically into smoky , woody and spicy journey. Other than the unique vanilla profile what i enjoyed the most is the perfumer who made Margaux Le Paih-Guérin and the praises by Cafleurebon .Margaux Le Paih-Guérin and Sarah Baker picked up one already great smelling ingredient like the vanilla and built upon it , making it darker and smoky , boozy and ambery as well.
I’ll keep my eye on Artist’o and especially Ode, Élisire Aliksir and Manos Gerakinis Amandus.
With Nicoleta Tomsa contributions went to Manhattan with drinks, laughter, cacao and pineapple, I’d like to try the cocktail of emotions called Twisted Hearts from Testament London
I absolutely love to win Twisted Hearts from Testament London
    Subscriber based in UK, cheers

  • I absolutely love all the selections. I am a big fan of Essential Parfums, Dominque Ropion so Iris so Velvet Iris is my choice. Black Oregano continues to peak my interest
    I live in the EU

  • Thank you for these reviews of perfumes that I have admittedly not heard of! There seemed to be a lot of variety and unusual entries!
I have found the Essential Perfumes to be a solid line, and the Iris sounds very nice. It’s interesting to me that it made both Oli and Nicoleta’s lists.
My top one to try would be the Elisire. The golden glowing notes just sound so appealing as described.
Thank you for the lists and the draw. I’m in the USA.

  • Thanks to Nicoleta and Oli for an amazing list. The two fragrances with on my wishlist Sasva Saaqi and Atelier Materi Black oregano are willing two closest to my heart. If I am lucky to win Testament London Twisted Hearts sounds like a spicy, boozy gourmand lover’s dream. Thanks a million from the UK

  • Red berries? Hazelnut? This notes are like a dream. It would be a privilege, for me as a perfune obsessed, to smell this. I am from eu.

  • Ceramic.Scale says:

Not an expert myself but we can argue that the whole fragrance industry is getting oversaturated. 5000+ new releases per year equals more than 94 per week, and more than 13 per day … come on .. If I was part of Cafleurebon team, and had to pile down ten out of the hundreds if not thousands during the year it would’ve been hard, very hard.
The good thing is that other than mass amounts of repetitive and low quality releases , there were still nice amounts of bold , innovative and refined new fragrances too . The whole list was an amazingly fleshed out evaluation of these amazing perfumes. So much great information & many new releases that I definitely want to smell! Sarah Baker Peach’s Revenge is in my possession , but not the latest vanilla . I love vanilla, tobacco and bourbon , such perfums just as much and I’m more than happy to know that Sarah Baker and Margaux Le Paih-Guérin made one distinct vanilla based fragrance by the name of Velvet Vendetta.
Élisire Aliksir is based on uniqueness and alchemy traditions with perfumer Nathalie Feisthauer being a favorite of many Cafleurebon contributors added resins, leather and patchouli.
Manos Gerakinis Amandus is sugar coated almonds on a Greek wedding with caramelized depth.
Śasva Saaqi is just marvelous. I’m more than happy to know that the dark opulence of the fragrance is mixed with pleasure-seeking seduction of the caramel on top of my beloved wine . I’m captivated by Nicoleta Tomsa thoughts on the fragrance.
I was so not expecting such level of complexity from Testament London Twisted Hearts . I love champagne , to drink it , to smell it , boozy perfums in general, cacao and milk just as much . I’ve always been into splendid gourmands and boozy fragrances and now Testament London cinematic and gourmand ideas , turned into reality by Gokhan & Bogdan Vlad are stuck in my mind. I need Twisted Hearts in my life
    From UK
    Many thanks

  • Thanks to Nicoleta, and Olí for their top 10.

When Dominique Ropion is the perfumer, I have to try it. He is one of the best.
Also, Iris is my favorite note in perfumery, and considering the description of the fragrance and the transition from the root to the green of the flower, that’s my first option on these 2 great lists.

Thanks to çafleurebon for an amazing year of contributions, sharing experiences, and giveaways.

    Happy 2026 for all.

    From Massachusetts.

I just love to see Soap Bubble in Nicoleta’s list…
YLEM was one of my favourite discoveries this year and only Soap Bubble is missing out of the 3 in my collection- yet.

I would choose Twisted Hearts because the description sounded too tempting:
“a cocktail of emotions that gets you addicted really fast, really, really bad.”

    Best wishes from Germany!
    Cindy

  • Prima_Blonde says:

Wow narrowing down a whole year of discoveries was challenging whiteout a doubt.
Quite a surprise to see such a diversity in both Nicoleta Tomsa and Oli Marlow lists , but also I’m pleased by the breath of fresh air.
Manos Gerakinis Amandus , Artist’o Ode , Élisire Aliksir Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta, Testament London Twisted Hearts and Jovoy Ha Long Bay I find very much appealing and will do my best to sample. Śasva sample set should arrive in a couple days , can’t wait to try Saaqi muled wine and tobacco.
Considering how much i love Chris Maurice Gold Spot I’m more than thrilled about Velvet Vendetta. Margaux Le Paih-Guérin wrapping the fragrance in a decadent vanilla , succulent slightly candied fruits , and with concurrently with a beautiful black dress underneath , and dark brown leather boots , I’m loving the whole outfit of the fragrance .
The decadence of Testament London Twisted Hearts is noteworthy, posh speakeasy bar ,laughter, boozy take and sweetness coming from the cacao, milk and pineapple. Spectacular fragrance, fingers crossed I’d like to win Testament London Twisted Hearts
I’m delighted by the reviews on the blog ,all contributors and the chance, in the UK

  • I read all the Top 10 lists on Ca Fleure Bon so far – I am overwhelmed. I must have been living under a rock this past year. I recognized only of the perfumes from previous reviews but I did not hear of many, and, I must confess, I did not try any of them. I guess that’s one thing to do better next year 🙂
I would choose Essential Parfums Velvet Iris. I’m in the US.

  • crownroyale47 says:

I appreciate how the reviews captures the emotional weight behind curating a Top 10 list and reminds me that fragrance is as much about obsession, memory, and inner conflict as it is about notes. What impresses me most is the cinematic and literary depth running through these selections, scents that feel lived in, emotionally charged, and intentionally imperfect rather than polished for mass appeal. The line I love most is, “Moments like this are buds on the tree of life. Flowers of darkness they are.” It perfectly mirrors how scent can hold both beauty and shadow at once. I would absolutely love to win Twisted Hearts by Testament of London. I live in the US. New Jersey.

  • The avant-garde edge of this year’s selections is thrilling. Nos Republic Cor Serpentis described as a “transmission from an alien biosphere” and Ode Ona Dawn Earth with its “weirdly bitter mastic note” represent the kind of challenging, brain-tickling perfumery I live for. Nicoleta’s recognition of YLEM Parfums as Best New House is spot-on; fusing nebulae with scent is a breathtaking concept. Yet, for pure, addictive wearability, Nicoleta’s pitch for Twisted Hearts is undeniable: a “cocktail of emotions that gets you addicted really fast, really, really bad.” That’s a risk I want to take. Would love to win Twisted Hearts. EU.

  • Nuvare Aenra says:

Nicoleta’s list is a treasure trove for anyone who believes in the storytelling power of scent. Her description of Manos Gerakinis Amandus rooted in the “beautiful myth of a heartbroken princess turned into a tree” adds such a poignant, timeless layer to the fragrance. It transforms it from a simple almond scent into a wearable legend. Oli’s pragmatic admiration for Ataratma London Rati Patchouli as “plump, alluring and a little bit plastic-y in the best way” is equally compelling in its honesty. For the draw, the mythical, twilight allure of Élisire Aliksir, that “amber-hued elixir of alchemy”, calls to the romantic in me. I am in the EU.

  • reyessence89 says:

What caught my interest was Velvet Iris appearing on both Nicoleta’s and Oli’s lists. I blind-bought Velvet Iris when I saw Iris paired with galbanum – a pairing that in my opinion is made in heaven. I was also intrigued by Oli stating the lack of a thread amongst his top ten, which to me is good to hear because it means he allowed the perfume to speak to him (or choose him, like a stray cat would.)
I live in the US. And I choose Twisted Hearts. Happy New Year!

  • From the ones mentioned, I’ve only tried Jovoy Parfums Ha Long Bay. The rest are complete strangers to me.

Based on the descriptions above, I’m interested in trying:
    1. ÇaFleureBon X Darren Alan Perfumes Lipstick Queen judt because of the collaboration
    2. Śasva Saaqi – perfume I’ve been wishing to try so so much!
    3. Carner Barcelona La Playa – I’m crazy about everything summer, beach and sun related.

Testament London Twisted Hearts would be absolutely amazing to win!

Happy New Year from Croatia, EU!

Thanks for the wonderful year-end round-up! Reading Nicoleta Tomsa and Oli Marlow’s Top 10 Perfumes of 2025 (Part 4) made me appreciate how versatile and expressive this year’s fragrances have been — from luminous florals and sparkling citruses to rich ambers and heady woods, each pick feels like a distinct emotional landscape. I especially loved how their selections aren’t just about notes, but about mood and moment — inviting us to wear scent as a way to feel and remember.

Would love to try any of these fragrances.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • I was intrigued by this list that included so many fragrances that are unknown to me and that they also illustrate that neither Nicoleta nor Oli has a set type. I was so moved by many of Nicoleta’s descriptions, as if each was a complete short story. I was particularly drawn to Elisire Aliksir as an “elixir of alchemy crafted to capture twilight”. I am also keenly interested to try Black Oregano, which sounds unlike any fragrance in my collection.

If I’m lucky enough to win, I would choose Elisire Aliksir. I live in the US.

  • I’ve always been fascinated by the ‘golden hour” phenomenon in which the warm reddish light of sunset suffuses the world. Élisire Aliksir sounds warm and golden with its citrus, oud, woods and base of patchouli and suede leather. I would love to win a bottle. MD, USA

  • Where do I begin without writing a novel. The best of these seem to be Ha Long Bay by Jovoy with is fruity milky butteriness. The testament London with its boozy , cacao, milk just sounds like a dream of a fragrance. And the votives iris is an ode to the iris encapsulating all of its facets. I would be most interested in Testament London Twisted hearts if I were selected. NY, USA. Happy New Year all!

  • These two lists covered a surprising range of styles.

The rich “sensual crimson reds, warm brass, rich coppers, and deep green earthy tones” of Élisire Aliksir are intriguing, and seem like the perfect option for autumn days and magic-hour summer evenings. And Nos Republic Cor Serpentis sounds so cool! I love the way various terrestrial elements were combined to achieve something that feels so charged and alien. YLEM Parfums Soap Bubble is appealing in the opposite way; ethereal in its fresh transparency. (The packaging is exceptional too!)

I like green and medicinal-smelling fragrances, so the “green samurai” of Puredistance Ysayo caught my attention from Oli’s list, as did the unusual forest bathing twists of “almost roasted coffee” and “weirdly bitter mastic” in Ode Ona Dawn Earth. Black Oregano has popped up on every list so far and sounds like a true original.

I’m in the USA. If I were to win, I’d choose Élisire Aliksir. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • Five years went by quick and it seems like I’ve been a fan for the majority of this site existence. Thank you for all of the time and dedication that goes into the site and all that you’ve done for fragheads all around the world. I really like these recaps of the best scents and it also makes me look forward to scents from many houses I have no experience with. Would love to win either of the three but the twisted hearts and elisire are very appealing and match my personality. From USA.

We had quite a year in perfume i believe. Sure there were some unfortunate setbacks like repetitive releases and higher taxes but 2025 was quite nice when it comes to new fragrances. There were some a bit divisive in some regards trends , but that’s what makes this hobby so fun.
Since Peach’s Revenge, Loudo and Flame and Fortune are of my favorites , and Nicoleta Tomsa complex and very picky nature is very much similar to mine , i had no choice but to try and buy Velvet Vendetta , no remorse type of composition . I’d like to thank Nicoleta Tomsa since her original article made me want to try , and soon after buy the fragrance.
Since Śasva Sapna is one my faves , Saaqi is t a delicious fruity boozy amber with mulled wine , the big scoop of almonds , amber and tobacco , the smoke is a riveting new addition too. Saaqi is a must try fragrance.
I’m all for cinematic boozy take on a bar in Manhattan, built around champagne, cacao, milk and pineapple, Testament London Twisted Hearts is the cocktail I’d like to drink .
I think one of the coolest things I also learned in this article were details about Atelier Materi Black Oregano bold nature , Artist’o Ode by Nathalie Feisthauer , Élisire Aliksir by Philippine Courtère , Manos Gerakinis another success with Amandus by Sofia Bardelli.
Gokhan Simsek and Bogdan Vlad team came with a marvelous result with Twisted Hearts. I’d love to win a bottle
    Many thanks , UK

  • First of all, congratulations Nicoleta on your 5 years at Cafleurebon. From your list, I’m surprised and delighted to see two established masters like Mr. Ropion and Ms. Feisthauer and “young” perfumers like Courtiere, Bardelli, Le Paih-Guérin, Bakouche—all feminine noses. Something similar happens with OlI’s list: masters like Lie, Ropion, Pellegrin, Duchaufour, and young ones like Guesnet, Hachem Ruiz, Pedriel, Medina-Baez. I would have loved to try Atelier Materi Black Oregano and its leather-oregano blend, which I find novel and very interesting: perhaps this is the path of niche perfumery. I would love to win Testament London Twisted Hearts. I live in Spain, EU.

Another impressive fragrance year, and a great list. Thank you to the authors as usual.
Of the 2025 trends noted here, I’m most interested in originality , novel uses of different notes when it comes to gourmands , the small-batch chic fragrances from all over the world.
With such competition it’s not easy to grab the attention of fragrance enthusiasts and experts, but some were able to find a way. For example, it sounds like Manos Gerakinis and Sofia Bardelli used sugar-dusted almond delicious notes in an unusual , Greek wedding way , Margaux Le Paih-Guérin Velvet Vendetta is combination of vanilla with smoke is intriguing. Élisire Aliksir sounds like a personal, nostalgic perfume inspired by alchemy with leather and amber.
Matiere Premiere has been releasing really good lately, Black Oregano seems to be high quality fragrance as well.
I like high grade fruity and boozy fragrances , especially those caramel coated like Saaqi by Śasva.
I have a penchant for high grade boozy and sweet fragrances and Testament London Twisted Hearts fascinated me , the fragrance is so posh , and the black flacon with beautiful pattern on the golden cap is so beautiful. Even the naming is a bullseye, Testament indeed
Nicoleta Tomsa vivid examination fascinated , the fragrance is fun and a bit adventurous .The variety of different delicious elements like cacao and and pineapple , and the emotional features blended by the two perfumers Gokhan Simsek and Bogdan Vlad I’m a fan of . Well suited for going out , as well as for a private club . I’m so intrigued , you can tell I’d like to win a bottle of Twisted Hearts
    Thank you very much

Soap Bubble from YLEM sounds interesting and “disarmingly feel–good and easy to wear” sounds like something I’d love to experience, so I must try to get my nose on that.
I really like what Nissaba is doing and I have tried Les Alpes during cold weather, so it will be very interesting to try it during warmer weather and see if it changes in any way.

If I were to win, I would like Essential Parfums Velvet Iris. I am in the EU.

  • I feel Nicoletas need of a deadline, but her and Oli both have managed to pick lots of perfumes out of thousands of new releases that I did not try but would like to. I am most interested in Lipstick Queen (“Bold, glamorous, unapologetically seductive, this is a tribute to the queens of yesterday and today – those who dare to live life on their own terms, embrace their power, and leave an unforgettable mark on the world.” Who does not want to be like this but probably is not in real life?), Ode, Velvet Vendetta, Saaqi, Twisted Hearts, Soap Bubble, Ysayo, Ha Long Bay and Black Oregano.

I live in the EU and I am interested in Testament London’s Twisted Hearts

    Salutations
It could be my impressions only but the amounts of new releases is mind boggling , how could anyone narrow down 10 in a short period of time… I have no idea
It was a pleasure reading about Nicoleta Tomsa and Oli Marlow Top Ten Perfumes of 2025 , and I’ve learned about some fragrances I’ve never heard of before.
What grabbed me the most today , in no particular order a) Artist’o Ode b) Sarah Baker and Margaux Le Paih-Guérin Velvet Vendetta , an intoxicating sexy and smoky blend c) Philippine Courtère work on Élisire Aliksir d) Sofia Bardelli Paris exquisite take on a Greek wedding sugar-coated almond fragrance with Manos Gerakinis e) I I’m definitely interested in Ode One Dawn Earth f) Jovoy enigmatic mango and suede leather nature of Ha Long Bay g) Atelier Materi Black Oregano luxurious appeal e) Śasva Saaqi and its fruity wine , oud , black pepper , fruits and resinous depth f) How upscale Testament London Twisted Hearts is with jazz rhythm, champagne and well dosed by Gokhan Simsek and Bogdan sweetness
Testament London Twisted Hearts fits me greatly
    It’s been a pleasure

  • I’m located in the UK
There are so many to mention in these lists by Nicoleta Tomsa and Oli Marlow , here are just a few that I’ve had my eye on. I’m very interested in Manos Gerakinis Amandus. As I have been on the hunt for the “right” almondy gourmand, I believe this may be it. Saaqi and all Śasva fragrances has been on my list this year, I’ve got to get my hands on a sample kit . Jovoy Parfums Ha Long Bay has a chance to steal my heart, I’ll have to find it to sniff it before purchase.
Vanilla fragrances i really like , exactly like from subtle and loud , moist and dry ,easy to wear and more complex and daring , but Velvet Vendetta seems to be the ballsiest of them all.
Essential Parfums Velvet Iris and Carner Barcelona being the only two I own from these lists, I have a long way to go before I’m satisfied.
I particularly like how Gokhan Simsek and Bogdan decided to go into champagne and milk direction since i don’t have such fragrance . The boozy take , pineapple and cacao take on it gives that little to no rules posh speakeasy feel to the fragrance. The two perfumers delved into new territory with Twisted Hearts ,big respect for the final result.
I have all kind of cinematic dreams and Twisted Hearts seems to be the right choice for me ✅
    I’m thrilled by the chance

  • Great line up from Nicoleta and Oli. I haven’t tried most of these I have to admit but a few are definitely on my list to try. Would love to try Velvet Vendetta from Sarah Baker because her perfumes are top notch. Also Organ Tale Devenir sounds really interesting.
I have also never heard of Testament London, but Twisted Hearts sounds really good too. Would love to enter the draw for that. Marit, NL, EU

  • Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year Cafleurebon, I’m glad I found you . I’m very picky about fragrances I’m wearing, the huge amounts of new releases i believe is actually a good thing since people could pick from dozens if not even hundreds of options from the genres they like.
Manos Gerakinis , Élisire, Sarah Baker, Jovoy Paris, Carner Barcelona and Atelier Materi are all both great brands , good to know they keep releasing extraordinary new editions .
Saaqi is on my radar after all the praises from Nicoleta Tomsa. Additionally I’d love to try the whole range of Śasva fragrances.
Margaux Le Paih GUERIN is a future star in perfumery , I don’t know the smoky vanilla called Velvet Vendetta , but I know Sora Dora Red and Badar Estelle, but she’s is the author of so many new fragrances i need to try
I also love how the things worked out for Manos Gerakinis, knowledgeable and humble guy who I had the pleasure of meeting once.
I was not expecting a dense , posh NYC bar inspired amber with champagne , pineapple , milk and rich cacao . Testament London Twisted Hearts transports you to a high-end contemporary speakeasy bars , with nods to Manhattan lifestyle , and I’m particularly interested in the cozy aura of the fragrance . My choice is Twisted Hearts
    Thanks a bunch

From Best Fragrances of 2025 ,the overview of Nicoleta Tomsa and Oli Marlow the trends and fragrances I’m found of the most are unique gourmands, small batch perfumery, Manos Gerakinis Amandus, Margaux Le Paih-Guérin Velvet Vendetta , Chris Maurice Saaqi , Bertrand Duchaufour still going strong , Élisire Aliksir and of course Gokhan Simsek and Bogdan Vlad Testament.
Śasva Saaqi is trend setting fragrance with a lot of contrasts, from mulled wine, caramel to woody , delicious and resinous depth.
Nicoleta Tomsa, Testament London owners , Gokhan Simsek and Bogdan share the same affection for art and craftsmanship , one of the reasons Twisted Hearts worked like a charm for her with its boozy , fruity and spicy cloudy cocoa haze. Nicoleta work with the fragrance is like invading the senses poetic invitation to high end parties, jazz music, good drinks and food .
Twisted Hearts is piece of art elegant fragrance I’d like to win
Thank you for the draw EU

  • I’m keen on Cafleurebon not sorely because of the multiple sophisticated fragrances and reviews I can find here , that’s the bonus but not the main reason. To me what actually matters to me is the individuality of every single author including Nicoleta Tomsa and Oli Marlow of course.
Out of Nicoleta picks I’d like to try Élisire Aliksir, Manos Gerakinis Amandus, Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta, Śasva Saaqi and Testament London Twisted Hearts. Out of Oli Marlow picks I’m interested in Jovoy Parfums Ha Long Bay, Atelier Materi Black Oregano and Carner Barcelona La Playa .
I really likes Testament London Twisted Hearts not based on the smell alone , but because of the ingredients , my fascination for upscale bars and the brazen characteristics. Posh gourmand with fruity champagne essence, milk and cocoa , skilfully crafted blend I’m drawn to. The speakeasy bar images Nicoleta also painted so well are so evocative , showing the NYC electric spirit after dark , I’m impressed. I’d love to win Testament London Twisted Hearts
    Cheers from UK

  • Respect for the fine Best of the year overview picks . Reading Nicoleta Tomsa and Oli Marlow mini reviews makes me want to smell most , and a few fragrances asap – Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta , Artist’o Ode, Manos Gerakinis Amandus, Śasva Saaqi , Testament London Twisted Hearts, Jovoy Parfums Ha Long Bay and Carner Barcelona La Playa , Essential Parfums Velvet Iris i own.
Manos Gerakinis Amandus Greek wedding sugar-duated almonds notion , and the caramel, vanilla, black pepper and wine i like a lot.
Admirations for people like Nicoleta Tomsa and Oli Marlow who have high standards, and not just looking for nice smelling , but also for for creative and sophisticated fragrances

《 A boozy take built around champagne, cacao, milk, and pineapple – a cocktail of emotions that gets you addicted really fast, really, really bad 》

Reading the essay made me think of how unique of a boozy ambery gourmand Testament London Twisted Hearts must be if Nicoleta Tomsa can barely compare it to anything else , the scent even brought her into emotional Nirvana lol
Keeping in mind the zealous examination i know Gokhan Simsek and Bogdan Vlad did a splendid work. Vivid posh bar atmosphere , all stepping on foundation of depth and complexity, Twisted Hearts is elaborate fragrance i’ll be happy to win.
    Thank you kindly, from EU

  • By the way Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta i already have and I’m loving it Sampled and ordered it thanks to Nicoleta Tomsa Cafleurebon article.
I’m liking these best of the year lists. Lots of new releases and new brands.
I love how small artisanal brands like Manos Gerakinis, Sarah Baker, Śasva, Testament London and Élisire are bringing extraordinary new fragrance.
Margaux Le Paih-Guérin future is bright, award after award….
It’s excellent to hear that the ambery vanilla in Śasva Saaqi are wrapped in such a passionate aura with mulled wine and smoky notes.
What I like about Testament London Twisted Hearts is that is not just a high quality ingredients in the vain of something else, absolutely not! Gokhan Simsek and Bogdan Vlad built unorthodox rich and opulent fragrance, admirable approach. The pineapple, cacao, champagne and milk combination comes as a gentle reminder of how there are still brands like Testament London and perfumers like Gokhan Simsek and Bogdan Vlad who still posses imagination
Should I win I’d love to receive Twisted Hearts

  • Howdy everyone !
As we step into Q1 of the new year , Nicoleta Tomsa and Oli Marlow invites us to embody their favorite relatives of 2025 .
NYC posh speakeasy bars energy I’d like to experience. The dreamy brightness of Testament London Twisted Hearts you don’t see everyday, considering the levels of sophistication, cozy characteristics i tend to believe , with Nicoleta’s help that Gokhan Simsek and Bogdan Vlad fragrance no doubt transcends the ordinary ambery boozy and fruity experiences.
Other than Twisted Hearts I’m sure I’d enjoy Manos Gerakinis Amandus thanks to the sugary almonds, Velvet Vendetta thanks to the smoky vanilla, Śasva Saaqi thanks to the red wine, tobacco and vanilla accords.
I’m intrigued by Testament London Twisted Hearts the most
    Thanks , UK

Thanks for the wonderful write-up ! I really liked reading about your options on the trends in perfumery this year .
2025 was a year of extrait versions, stark contrasts with way too many new fragrances 5000 is crazy , yet there was a little bit of everything with novelty gourmands , not so sugary vanillas , small batch perfums and exclusivity.
Both Nicoleta Tomsa and Oli Marlow seem excited for new and upcoming small niche and indie houses which I love.
Thanks to you I’ll sample Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta, Testament London Twisted Hearts, Manos Gerakinis Amandus, Śasva Saaqi and Atelier Materi Black Oregano.
There’s a little bit of everything in Testament London Twisted Hearts , palatable fruits and champagne , cozy powdery cocoa and milk too , smelling all of this will get me in party mood every time a get a sniff. I’m interested in Twisted Hearts and I’ll be happy to win a bottle. Thank you

  • This was a very rich and thoughtful list of fragrances. So much great information & many perfumes that I definitely want to smell! I really enjoy these posts as they tend to do a really good job giving an overview of the year for fragrances , and helps me keep up with newer fragrances , niche, indie and designers.
Unquestionably dedication is a must for the 21st century dire competition, and expectations are beyond high for everyone , in particular for high end popular niche brands like Sarah Baker and Peach’s Revenge became a major hit ,I’m sure Margaux Le Paih-Guérin did a splendid work with Velvet Vendetta by making the vanilla darker and more smoky.
Śasva Saaqi is a dream come true for red wine lovers, Manos Gerakinis Amandus for gourmand lovers and Testament London Twisted Hearts for those who like sophisticated fragrances and finest things in life.
Gokhan Simsek and Bogdan work speaks for itself,. I believe free will sophisticated fragrance with ambery fruity-boozy carefree appeal is already on the market. Judging by the Nicoleta Tomsa words alone “.. cocktail of emotions that gets you addicted really fast…” I know Twisted Hearts is a good one. …. i just need to try it.
    Twisted Hearts please
    Thank you

    Hey there
I started reading the blog in May last year , and it’s January 2026 already. I guess time passes quickly for Cafleurebon readers.
Stark contrasts, tons of new releases , quite a lot pleasant , but also a few unpleasant ones…basically a little bit of everything for everyone is how Nicoleta Tomsa and Oli Marlow described in short the 25′ for the fragrance world.
Margaux Le Paih-Guérin work speaks for itself, exquisite fragrance hits one after another.
Two new brands like Śasva and Testament London , original perfumes , small batches , hardworking perfume people , spectacular and unique gourmands , even though there were some setbacks 25′ was great when it comes to perfumes.
I had a terrific time reading the article , and i’d love to win Testament London Twisted Hearts since I’m expecting an intoxicating haze that came as a result of Gokhan Simsek and Bogdan Vlad efforts. Can’t say no to cocoa, pineapple, milk and champagne blended to perfection. Thanks EU

Hello and Happy New Year from UK
The very good fragrance year with small batch, elegant unapologetic releases , gourmands of all kinds including those related to music and posh bars like Testament London Twisted Hearts
There’s a lot of buzz surrounding Velvet Vendetta, Śasva Saaqi brand I’d love to discover both soon.
Margaux Le Paih-Guérin is one of the best, if not the best young perfumers and I’m very much excited for Velvet Vendetta , and the way tobacco and smoke unfolds.
Floral touches i don’t seem to detect , but since I actually own Manos Gerakinis Amandus I have to say my opinion of the fragrance Is pretty much the same as the way Nicoleta Tomsa perceives it. I believe the fragrance is quite powdery too.
Based on uniqueness and Nicoleta Tomsa praises and my experience with Gokhan Simsek fragrances i’m envisioning excellence once again , count me in for Twisted Hearts since I’d like to know know how posh speakeasy bar in Manhattan smells
    Thank you so much
