It’s safe to say the past few years have given us an explosion of mango fragrances. And no wonder, it’s such an adored fruit that anyone who falls for its juicy aroma, all those facets of apricot and banana and sometimes even a whisper of pine, tends to fall hard. I’d know: I once went on a full mango spree, smelling and tasting my way through every variety I could find, and it was glorious. (I’m a bit of a food nerd, in case that wasn’t already obvious, this is genuinely how I have fun.)
Here are three very different takes on the fruit, each one feeling and wearing like its own world. That’s the magic of perfumery: a single ingredient can tell a dozen stories, carry you to a dozen places, and still spread the same joy with every drop. All you have to do is be willing to try something unexpected because that’s precisely where the magic tends to happen.
Aedes de Venustas SUEÑO LATINO by Olya Bar
Aedes de Venustas SUEÑO LATINO (Gabriela Chelariu) 2025: The mango here isn’t a smoothie. It’s rosa mango and milky fig folded into something damp and green, the fruit softened by rain rather than sugar, a fairytale land of nature, as perfumer Gabriela Chelariu puts it, all moss and humidity and the sense that the heat hasn’t broken yet. Sueño Latino opens loud, on Brazilian and Peruvian pink pepper, then lets that zest cut into plummy davana and bergamot before the fruit arrives, ripe and creamy and edged with spice. It belongs to the strange new category of fruity leather, and Aedes has given it their signature spine of resinous wood.
Mysore sandalwood reads like a watery forest floor, a thread of suede musk sits close to the skin, and a base of Paraguayan guaiac, olibanum, amber, and patchouli lends the faintest smoke. It’s almost a mezcal cocktail in scent form, mango purée, smoky agave, and the peppery bite of a spiced rim meeting your lips before the first sip. It’s the tropics as a fever dream rather than a beach, thick jungle air, Luis Barragán’s hot-pink walls, salsa until morning. “Fragrance itself is a dream,” says co-founder Karl Bradl. “You close your eyes, and you disappear.”

Jovoy Parfums HA LONG BAY by Olya Bar
Jovoy Parfums HA LONG BAY (Véronique Nyberg) 2025: This is the mango as a memory rather than dessert. Veronique Nyberg was inspired by the Xoài Cát, the sand mango of Vietnam’s Hoa Lộc province, and the fruit here comes in facets, peach, banana, a whisper of apricot, captured through Jungle Essence extraction, which pulls the full spectrum of the fruit rather than flattening it into candy. Jovoy Paris and Jovoy Parfum founder François Hénin drew on his own time in Vietnam for it, and the ambition was never a postcard: it’s the depth of the place, the emotion of standing in it, rather than the sticky-sweet shorthand tropical usually gets reduced to.
What lifts it is the frame around the fruit. Vibrant spice sharpens the opening, soft leather gives it body, and an elegant woody base keeps the whole thing grounded and alive on the skin. The trail is luminous and genuinely long, this is a fragrance that keeps evolving hours in, warm and radiant and quietly emotional. Less a place you visit than one you remember. What I anticipate most is how it will wear as the season turns, a way to hold onto summer and its beautiful escape a little longer.

Sasva Parfums FRUIT DU PARADIS by Olya Bar
Sasva Parfums FRUIT DU PARADIS (Hamid Merati Kashani) 2022: Day after day for the past two months now, this is the one I’ve reached for. Perfumer Hamid Merati Kashani built it as a sun-drenched mango orchard, a burst of tangy citrus first, then mango and pomegranate arriving sweet and ripe, a nostalgic homage to an Indian summer. There’s a rightness to that lineage: the mango is India’s fruit before it is anyone else’s, cultivated there for thousands of years, the tree a symbol of love and abundance and the season itself. To Indians it isn’t a flavor so much as a feeling, the arrival of summer, the fruit eaten by the crateful, hands and chins sticky with it. Sasva understands that. This is mango as heritage, not novelty.
And that’s the feeling it gets exactly right, biting into the juiciest mango imaginable, juice running down to your elbow, nowhere to be and nothing to rush to. Just the indulgence of the moment, the joy of it, your skin, drenched in summer’s bounty. It’s the rare fruity fragrance that reads as abundance rather than sugar.
There’s something tender about a scent that holds a season in it, that lets you keep a little of the light after the days have gone short. When the first cold morning comes, I suspect I’ll still be wearing it, wrist to my nose, chasing the last of the sun. This one is to be savored, slowly, like the fruit that inspired it, down to the very last drop.
