“For our one-year brand anniversary I wanted to revisit my first composition, Red Rum with new materials, and with the ability to explore the concept further, Red Rum Red Rum Reserve is an elevated, luxurious, and refined take on the original’s dark fruits, florals and rum. The fragrance opens with a mature dark cherry and aromatic top shelf spiced rum extract from MANE, leading into a heart of rich plum, immortelle flower, orris butter and blonde tobacco. It settles into a rum-cask inspired base of oak, royal Hawaiian sandalwood, Mysore sandalwood, and a slightly smoky, rich French vanilla accord. Red Rum Reserve celebrates my love of touring distilleries around the world and appreciating all the unique nuances, local craftsmanship, passion, and ingredients that go into them-Will Southard, Perfumer and Owner

    I have to start off by saying that, from Will’s introduction, I am very intrigued by his choice to celebrate one year by going *back* to something and re-imagining or re-interpreting it. Some would choose to introduce something new, but to try and revisit something that meant something to him was a bold choice, and makes me want to smell it even more.

    And from Steven’s review, I am intrigued by his description of the fragrance smelling like a “jazz club”, given that one of the more popular fragrances on the market shares that name. I know these 2 don’t smell alike, and I personally don’t like Jazz Club by Margiela, so I know this is probably already a better interpretation of that vibe.

    I liked how Will compares his impressions with touring distilleries. That definitely brings in the atmosphere of a distillery and hints at the experience nicely. Steven’s video was nicely thorough and I appreciated his honestly about how some notes take over more than others such as the orris not being prominent. It still sounds like a good mix. Also love the various other house scents he mentions: several of those have been favorites of mine for years.

    I own Moon Lotus and have a sample set of the rest or the house. The original Red Rum is one if the best boozy cherry scents I’ve smelled. Usually that’s not a scent profile I gravitate too but this one is special. I love that the perfumer takes inspiration from his life experiences and passions and being a native Floridan myself I like supporting a local house.
    I appreciate Steve’s comparison to other scents to give us an idea of what the Reserve smells like although I expect it to be another beautifully unique creation.

As an artist myself, I love how you guys support local artists. Also, the note breakdown in the fragrance sounds amazing! Plum, cherry, spiced rum, French vanilla, tobacco etc. That sounds right up my alley! Steven mentioned that it smells Ambery and gives off a sophisticated vibe, evoking a jazz club vibe. I would love to try this fragrance out!

    I’m looking forward to getting my nose on both Red Rum Reserve and Moon Lotus! And for Will to pivot from engineering to perfumery is impressive. It seems the pandemic urged many of us to shift and do the things that were always in us to do, but maybe got drowned out by the go go go survival mentality we have here in the US. Well-done, Will!

    Love the fact that another artist created the art that goes on the bottle as well as the fragrance itself. This is a boozy lovers’ dream with the cherry, oak, rum and vanilla. I deduct this is a super strong fragrance and how Steven mentioned something along the line as Angel’s Share. This is more suitable for the fall and winter months which is why the release is slated for late August arriving just in time for the upcoming autumn season. This is craftsmanship and sophistication at its peak. I’m located in the USA.

    Dark cherry being my favourite autumnal accord, this sounds like something I’d be reaching for often in the upcoming months. Coincidentally, I was just wearing Fath’s Velours Boise this evening, another boozy immortelle, albeit lacking any sort of fruitiness. Glad to hear of Will’s love for touring distilleries – something I confess I’ve yet to experience. Definitely have experienced a few jazz clubs over the years however, so I’m intrigued that Steven mentioned the comparison. Certainly would fit the suave and sophisticated vibe of the fragrance. But more importantly, I couldn’t agree more with his contention that a beloved fragrance deserves immediate wear. 🙂 😉 Something that deserves more emphasis given the common seasonal segregation of fragrances that I’m more than guilty of myself. Matter of fact, speaking of immediate attention, I think I hear a box of cherry liquer chocolates calling my name from the downstairs cabinet. Pardon me. 😀 From Canada.

    What I enjoyed most about both the review and the introduction was how they present Red Rum Reserve as much more than a straightforward boozy fragrance. Will’s idea of revisiting the original Red Rum with darker fruits, florals and rum, inspired by his love of distilleries and craftsmanship, really comes through in Steven’s description of the spicy rum, plum, cherry, oak and French vanilla. I especially liked Steven’s comparison of it to a sophisticated, dimly lit jazz club rather than a pirate ship, with a mysterious and suave atmosphere. The combination of originality, refinement and the dark, spicy, woody and ambery character sounds incredibly appealing, especially with the bonus of a ten hour long performance. I live in the EU.

    What I enjoyed most was the feeling that Red Rum Reserve is a fragrance with a real story behind it. Will’s decision to revisit his very first creation for the anniversary, rather than simply moving on to something new, feels especially meaningful. His love of distilleries and craftsmanship comes through beautifully in the inspiration, and the combination of dark cherry, plum, spiced rum, tobacco and sandalwood sounds incredibly rich.
    Steven’s review made me even more curious, especially his description of the fragrance as having that sophisticated, intimate jazz-club atmosphere. I loved that he was honest about how the different notes develop rather than simply listing them. It sounds like Red Rum Reserve has both warmth and character, with a darker elegance that I would really love to experience on skin.

    There is something deeply moving about returning to your roots and reimagining your very first creation instead of leaving it behind. I love the idea that Red Rum Reserve carries the memory of where Third Eye began, but with everything Will has learned since then. Checked out the earlier article for Mr. Sourhard’s profile. Very excited that we both served in the military. Glad to see he has turned his passion into reality. Red Rum Reserve as described by Steven further with the boozy plum and amber…sounds right up my alley. I also have never been on a pirate ship. What a fantastic way to celebrate a 1st anniversary – to revisit a work from the past and refine it for the present, incorporating all the knowledge and experiences that have shaped your vision in the past year. I love Will’s passion for the art of distilling and appreciation for the craft and people involved. The fragrance is a beautiful tribute to them.

    And I always love watching Steven’s videos. ♥♥♥ He has such a remarkable screen presence – smooth and polished yet authentic and always impeccably articulate and informed. I probably spend too much time on the Redolessence site…hands down my favorite fragrance reviewer. For the Red Rum reserve, I especially admired how Steven pointed out that the artwork on the packaging and card included was chosen by Will to support a local Orlando artist. Also, his emphasizing that this fragrance is unique among all the fragrances he knows with similar notes speaks volumes, considering his vast repertoire. And of course the review was, as typical, extremely thorough and informative.

    The OG Red Rum made me feel nostalgic. When i first got heavy into grooming after my enlistment, my first beard oil was a Bay Rum scent. The OG is such a perfect Bay Rum reminiscent of that first bottle I received, but much kore sophisticated and elevated. I cannot wait to try Reserve to see if it carries that same magic for my nose. Either way, I’ll be getting the OG or Reserve because I love a fragrance that plays with my emotions.

    This sounds rich and redolent with fruit, tobacco and spiced rum. Red Rum Reserve would be a fragrance for cool weather when you yearn for a roaring fire and a bracing glass of liquor. I can understand Steven’s reference to a club with the notes of woods, rum and tobacco. MD, USA

    I love that this is a tribute to touring distilleries, a very unique take-off point for developing a perfume! Steven’s review makes this sound like a good unisex luxury, and possibly uni-age, if that’s a word? Amber can be mature, but the cherry sounds like it keeps it younger and the pirates in a jazz club vibe is hilarious as well as sooo wonderfully intriguing. But suave of course negates the pirate part, so the elegant jazz booze sounds like something I’d like to try. Too bad the orris is so faint, coz I do like that note, but not sure it’s needed; the review makes it sound very complete in itself.

    A beautiful description by Steven and Will. I really enjoyed Will’s experience of touring distilleries and sporting local artists. The notes just depict Treasure Island perfectly Spiced Rum, Plum, Tobacco, Sandalwood and Black Cherry and Oak. The fact that the uniqueness sets this apart from other boozy plum fragrances.     I find this fragrence very exciting. I loved how in the intro it said that there was a “mature dark cherry” note. I love cherry notes and a mature one sounds quite good. I also liked the fact that will goes around checking out distilleries finding inspiration from that. There are so many amazing smelling spirits and liqueurs.

    I really liked the box in Steven’s video. I am a sucker for good presentations and the sleeve and magnet on the bottom were so cool, not to mention the artwork. I like how Steven says there was not direct comparison to the
    fragrence and that it is unique.

    Being raised by great grand parents is rare. We here many times hear grand parent raising their grand kids. Im one raising a grandson. But someone raised by their greats. a whole new level. It’s good to see the wisdom you’ve drawn from them.
    I dont know much about your perfume creations but seems interesting. And I’ll be finding a way to get my nose on a discovery set if possible.

    I love Steven’s breakdown of how the cherry and plum notes don’t remind him of any other fragrances with those same notes. I immediately thought it could be like french defense or caspian cherry but was glad to hear it is unique. I definitely love the dry down has oak and an amber hint to it. It’s right up my allow and would love to own this. Also, reading that this is an anniversary release by Will to me automatically means that it is elevated, remarkable, and drop dead spectacular. I know this is a phenomenal fragrance.

Third Eye has been hitting on all cylinders, I need a discovery set to give them all a try!     Red Rum Reserve is a love letter to boozy fragrances—indulgent, rich, and stout. I’m curious how Will approached this revisited version of Red Rum differently than the original, to achieve the “elevated, luxurious, and refined take on the original’s dark fruits, florals and rum”. The spiced rum extract from MANE is intriguing too. Steven’s video showed off the fun presentation, but more importantly he highlighted that this doesn’t “explicitly compare” to any other “boozy, oak, vanilla, fruity scents” he’s tried, giving it points for originality and “suave demeanor”. I’m happy to hear that the rum is spicy and has some bite, which gives Red Rum Reserve the right impact. Sounds like a blast to wear.

    Captivating experience , no mistake I even read the article and watched Redolessence YouTube video twice in a row , no joke. Third Eye Fragrances Red Rum Reserve is such a tempting creation.
    I can’t help but to be impressed how Will Southard embrace top quality ingredients from Mane , I can easily tell the proud Floridian loves his work and her hobbies – fruits, cultural , culinary , liquor , business owner and fragrance expert at the same time. I’m exposed to indie perfumery but not yet to Third Eye Fragrances , and i can’t help but to be captivated how he was able to create a very special fragrance with mature dark cherry leading into a heart of rich plum, immortelle , sandalwood ,orris butter, blonde tobacco and seductive aged rum depth.

    For the past 10+ years American indie and niche perfumery has consistently made me happy with originality , sophistication and thinking outside of the box .Thanks to Steven and Will Southard I’m confident Third Eye Fragrances Red Rum Reserve will be elegant, well crafted with good quality ingredients and those lovely flacons! On 2026 competitive market Red Rum Reserve stands out in a great way , and I believe the review and introduction were awesome ! Aged spiced rum , plum , dark cheries and and tobacco? But I know Red Rum Reserve is going to be warm, lush, exquisite. Which I love. Add in the vanilla and the two types of sandalwood and I’m all yours!

    I find impressive how Redolessence , the fragrance journalist and Michelyn Camen were able to merge so well captivating fragrance like Third Eye Fragrances Red Rum Reserve , with Will Southard intro and extra information and recommendations like Will Southard’s Profile in American Perfumery , Redolessence own video of Flamango and Sandi Lundberg review of Moon Lotus.
    Third Eye Fragrances i absolutely need to discover , i like the history of Perfumer and owner Will Southard , his love for touring distilleries around the world , all of which led to the upscale atmosphere of the fragrance with a glass of rum and favourite fruity extract from MANE I’d like to try now. I’m glad I read all the recommended articles too.
    I’m hardly ever super impressed by rum and tobacco fragrance alone , but a scent of mature dark cherry , French vanilla and woody spin image of Red Rum Reserve grabbed my attention right away. The balanced profile and the mischievous wink i very much enjoyed.

    I’m very picky about brands and fragrances I’m wearing and Third Eye Fragrances latest is on my radar now after all the praises by Redolessence , and the detailed introduction. Thanks to him i’m aware Will Southard created a true gem called Red Rum Reserve. I was not expecting a dense and stylish fragrance with with delicious dark cherries and plum, rum cocktails , rich woods and tobacco. Red Rum Reserve is a high-end contemporary piece of art aroma , and I’m particularly interested in the alluring aura of the fragrance .

    I personally own more than two dozen American niche and indie fragrances, and i love Will Southard based on creativity approach, no doubt Red Rum Reserve is spectacular. Good to knows the fragrance celebrates his love of touring distilleries around the world and appreciating all the unique nuances, local craftsmanship, passion, and ingredients that go into them.
    All the delicious fruity treats, the sandalwood , tobacco , smoky French vanilla and aged rum ,Red Rum Reserve is a fragrance where perfumery traditions meeting new horizons. To me the plum and dark cherry facets and the rum are giving the fragrance unique contemporary spin , based on Stevin review and Will Southard intro I know the fragrance has that mischievous aura and a beautiful presence.
