As we prepare to close out another year around the sun, I won’t pretend I’m not overwhelmed by the sheer volume of launches we’ve seen across every corner of the fragrance world. We all sensed this boom coming, but the current pace, brand after brand, release after release has made it nearly impossible to try, test, and thoughtfully review everything with the depth it deserves.

Today, one has to be strategic. To pace themselves. To choose wisely. Whether it’s a creation by a perfumer whose work you follow closely, a concept that sounds unexpectedly captivating, or simply a fragrance that sparks genuine curiosity, selectivity has become essential. The market is saturated with every type of scent imaginable, and we cannot ignore the rise of dupe culture, which holds strong appeal for Gen Z and is amplified daily by TikTok and Instagram reviewers urging everyone to buy the next must-have fragrance.

My stance is simple: while I may not be the target audience, I will never dismiss anyone who buys a dupe. The pricing of many niche and even prestige fragrances has become unrealistic for a large portion of consumers. Naturally, this creates space for an industry eager to meet that demand. But at ÇaFleureBon, our mission remains rooted in celebrating true artistry, craftsmanship, and creative vision. And this year delivered plenty of fragrances born from imagination, skill, and a deep respect for the craft. There was so much to admire, to experience, and to fall in love with. The Best Perfumes of 2025 Olya

M.Micallef Notorious XO (Daniela Marty): Crafted with the house’s signature sense of opulence, M.Micallef Notorious XO draws its spirit from the illustrious world of Cognac. It opens with a lively surge of spice and aromatics, cardamom’s peppery snap, a saline flicker, and a bright citrus spark that recalls the first sip of a finely aged VSOP. With time (and skin), the fragrance melts into a gourmand heart of cognac accord, vanilla, and tonka bean, all wrapped in a soft halo of sandalwood and amber. And without exaggeration, it stands as one of the best boozy-centric fragrances of 2025. Kajal Kolada (Tony Cabal): Each spritz feels like a sip of a perfectly blended piña colada. As a lifelong fan of the iconic cocktail, I find its magic lies in its ability to conjure a beachside escape, no matter where I am. This scent truly evokes golden sunrays kissing the skin, turquoise waves lapping at ivory sands, and time slowing to a languid, blissful rhythm. It truly is an olfactory ode to happiness, tranquility, and exoticism, capturing the essence of a tropical paradise while inviting us to embrace gratitude in the everyday. Bottega Veneta Good Morning Midnight (Perfumer Undisclosed) I’ve always been a devoted fan of Bottega Veneta’s original fragrance line, but the new collection launched last year truly took my breath away in every possible way. Building on the house’s inaugural Venice Collection, this latest chapter, aptly named “Mezzanotte” (Italian for “midnight”) continues the story of an olfactory Intrecciato, weaving together rare essences from across the globe into a rich, mysterious tapestry of scent. The name itself pays homage to the brand’s Italian heritage while evoking the enigmatic depth and nocturnal richness of these creations. Perfume is undeniably an art form, that much is clear to most of us but packaging it is an entirely separate discipline, and Bottega’s bottles are a masterful extension of the brand’s aesthetic positioning. They feel exquisite in the hand, with mouth-blown glass reminiscent of the iconic Murano-inspired techniques, featuring delicate bubbles rising toward the neck like effervescent champagne. Yet we’re here for the juice itself, and let me assure you: it is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. Truly. It opens with a luminous strawberry accord, delicately drizzled over dewy rose petals, while a bright, tangy lychee note adds vibrant acidity up top. Everything then settles into a base of the most velvety, resinous oud, deepened by the earthy richness of patchouli. Can I declare this the best oud fragrance of the year? It’s a bold claim, but in my view, nothing else released in 2025 has outshone it in that category.@newbottega

Guerlain Shalimar L’Essence (Delphine Jelk): Ironically, despite growing up surrounded by Shalimar, I could never wear the original myself. Yet I’ve always recognized its profound impact on the fragrance industry, from its groundbreaking launch to its enduring influence today. Guerlain has released numerous flankers over the years, some of which were truly exceptional, and those were the only versions I could fully embrace. With Shalimar L’Essence, however, something unexpected happened: I fell in love, not just with the fragrance, but with its story and the entire evolution of the Shalimar legacy in a completely new way. Since Jelk joined the house, Guerlain has confidently launched a multitude of fragrances which fit seamlessly into the modern era while honoring its heritage. Jelk has an intuitive mastery of the house’s DNA; she understands precisely how to weave innovative ideas into the traditional structures that define a legacy house like Guerlain, preserving what makes it timeless. She was grateful not to be creating this for the perfume’s 100th anniversary, the pressure would have been immense, and the outcome uncertain. The result was a softer, more luminous, vanilla-centric interpretation built on the iconic Guerlainade base, but composed with today’s harvests and contemporary ingredients. Matière Premiere Vanilla Powder Extrait (Aurelien Guichard): When Vanilla Powder became a bestseller for the brand, I was intrigued to see whether they would release another fragrance that flirted with gourmand territory without ever fully crossing into it. Aurelien, the perfumer, would rightly bristle at the idea of labeling any of his creations as truly gourmand and for good reason. The original EDP was fundamentally a woody composition, elevated by a captivating powdery facet derived from coconut powder and vanilla. Remarkably, it never veered into anything confectionary or overtly sweet. So when the Extrait de Parfum version was released, my excitement was palpable, and it did not disappoint. With the addition of tonka bean, the powdery facet was toned down and the vanilla turned darker, richer, and naturally nuttier. Do I prefer it over the original? Gucci The Alchemist’s Garden, Muschio Mineralis (Mathilde Bijaoui and Julie Massé): If you love musky fragrances and appreciate a raw, untamed interpretation infused with mineral facets, ambergris, and a shadowed vanilla, this one deserves your attention. What struck me most is how it unfolds, it takes a good 20 minutes for the full evolution to reveal itself, as if someone were gradually turning up the volume and allowing each note to step forward in perfect timing. It feels impeccably crafted, undeniably niche, and worth every penny. Krigler Velvet Nights 76 Krigler (Ben Krigler and Perfumer Undisclosed) has always held a very special place in my heart, to this day, Hermitage Heritage 04 remains firmly among my top ten fragrances in my entire collection. In my opinion, the house flies somewhat under the radar for most people and rightly so: they fiercely guard their distribution and presence, ensuring an air of exclusivity. You’ll only find their boutiques nestled within historic luxury hotels around the globe, each one a true treasure trove of olfactory discoveries. One of the greatest beauties of a heritage house like Krigler lies in its vast archives, brimming with timeless formulas that can be masterfully recreated using modern, high-quality ingredients while preserving their original soul. Velvet Night 76 is a triumphant return, a fearless tribute to freedom, first imagined in 1976 and now revived for today. Inspired by the late-night allure of Paris, where endless parties, independence, and liberty defined the lifestyle, this fragrance captures the bold, electric energy of the late ’70s era: a scent for a new kind of individual, confident, daring, and unapologetically free. An intense floral-amber composition, Velvet Night 76 opens with luminous Sicilian bergamot and Moroccan orange blossom, blooming into a lush heart of Italian tuberose and Egyptian jasmine, before settling into the sensual warmth of Reunion Island vanilla, Indian cedarwood, and musk.@kriglerofficial

House of Bo Cosmos (Alberto Morillas): Many fragrances this year leaned into minerality, metallic nuances, and otherworldly themes but translating those concepts into something genuinely wearable is far more challenging than it sounds. Few manage to become everyday indulgences. Yet House of Bō Cosmos proves it’s possible. With poise and attitude, it arrives bottled like an art object, something you’d never tuck away in a cabinet but rather display and admire. The scent itself is leathery and boozy, velvety in texture, and somewhere within that rich tapestry Morillas threads a subtle cacao note. INITIO Parfums Prive Can’t Get Enough (Perfumer Not Disclosed): Initio has long mastered the art of crafting deeply sensual fragrances that command attention and radiate for hours, this latest addition is no exception. It opens with a mouthwatering burst of lush rose mingled with juicy, almost effervescent berries. There’s a playful hint of something brighter, perhaps lychee, like a forbidden fruit slipped into your martini—vibrant, teasing, impossible to ignore. At its heart lies a decadent rose drenched in molten caramel: rich, velvety, and undeniably seductive. (I rarely reach for the word “sexy,” but here it fits perfectly.) As it settles, the fragrance reveals a refined woody masculinity, warm, grounded, and beautifully balanced with the feminine allure that runs throughout. As someone who owns every release from the line (yes, I’m an unabashed Initio devotee), I can say I’ve reached for The Can’t Get Enough constantly these past few months. Jusbox Sisters Be4Misters (Nelly Hachem-Ruiz): It is one jubilant celebration of female empowerment, inspired by the iconic Spice Girls and their unapologetic mantra of individuality, friendship, and sisterhood. I think many of us can relate to the times when we had their albums on replay and our walls covered in their posters. I certainly did! Sisters B4 Misters is a blend of five key ingredients, each chosen to reflect the distinct personalities of the Spice Girls.  The Best Perfumes of 2025 Rising Star Perfumer: Suzy Le Helley

If I had to single out one perfumer whose work truly stood apart this year, it would undoubtedly be Suzy Le Helley. And while she has crafted several memorable compositions, one fragrance in particular struck me as nothing short of brilliant: Goldfield & Banks Tales of Amber. It offers perhaps the most unconventional take on iris in my entire collection—cool yet warm, powdery yet unexpectedly comforting. There’s a magnetic, almost addictive quality to the way it unfolds. Suzy Le Helley is a rising force in contemporary perfumery, and I’ll be watching her work very closely. I can’t wait to see what she creates next.@goldfield_and_banks_australia  @suzy. lehelley

The perfumes released in 2025 have shown that innovation, originality, and creativity still exist in today’s olfactive landscape. While perfumes like Cherry Stem by Phlur reinvent the cherry accord to remove the syrup and perfumes like Decision by Amouage blend incense with vanilla to establish a sweet and smooth finish, we have witnessed that originality is still possible despite the innumerable releases of the past twelve months.  While perfumes are highly subjective, I have compiled a list of my ten favorite perfumes of 2025. BDK Parfums Impadia (Jordi Fernandez): Impadia is a quiet yet elegant scent. Soft woods, gentle florals, and a cozy warmth that blends together seamlessly. It feels very refined and personal, like something you wear for yourself and not necessarily for attention. @bdkparfumsparis

Granado Amazonico (Ilias Ermenidis): Super green and very natural. It evokes the sensation of walking through a rainforest right after it rains. Earthy, herbal, and fresh in a way that feels real and grounding, not perfumey. @granado

Parfums de Marly Eragon (Undisclosed): This warm and amber scent has presence. Dark woods, spice, and that rich Parfums de Marly DNA that feels confident and bold without being obnoxious. It smells powerful but still controlled and elegant. It is a fall and winter staple. @parfumsdemarly

Amouage Decision (Quentin Bisch): Very serious and very incense-forward. This smells like conviction, discipline, and mystery. Not casual at all, but incredibly interesting if you’re into deeper, more pensive scents. The incense is rich and meditative while the lactonic woods provide the perfumer’s signature olfactive stamp. @amouageofficial

Atelier des Ors Novae Vanilla (Marie Salamagne): This is vanilla done right. Creamy, smooth, and elegant without going sweet or dessert-like. At times, it even feels boozy. It feels warm, golden, and expensive, like a grown-up take on vanilla.@atelierdesors

House of Bo Ave Maria (Undisclosed): Ave Maria is soft, calming, and almost spiritual. Florals and incense blended in a way that feels peaceful and comforting. It genuinely smells serene, like a quiet moment to yourself in a garden full of gardenias. @houseofbo.co

Parfums de Luxe Illusio (Daniel René): Clean, smooth, and very well put together. It sits right in that space between classic and modern. Easy to wear but still feels polished and elegant. The sparkling pear provides freshness before the vanilla cake accord grounds the perfume with subtle sweetness. This is the epitome of a bridal perfume. @parfumsdeluxeofficial

Roja Parfums Elysium Noir (Antoine Cotton): This is the darker, moodier version of Elysium. Still fresh up top, but deeper, richer, and way more seductive. It feels like nighttime confidence in a bottle. It is the closest that I have gotten to having a signature scent.@rojalondon

Phlur Cherry Stem (Clement Gavarry): Fresh cherry with a green twist. Not syrupy, and it is versatility without being juvenile. It smells modern, cool, and effortless. One of those scents that just works without trying to be loud. What I admire the most about it is that it smells totally different from every other cherry perfume that I have in my collection.@phlur

Mind Games Check Please (David Apel): This one is pure confidence. Sharp, addictive, and very intentional. It smells like being in control, knowing exactly what you’re doing, and winning without making a celebratory scene. The spice of the cinnamon is warm and entrancing while the bourbon vanilla in the dry down is rich and confident.@mindgamesfragrance
