SHOPPE OBJECT New York Winter 2026 Starrett-Lehigh Building

From February 1st to 3rd, the premier home and gift trade show SHOPPE OBJECT returned to New York, occupying the light-filled 3rd and 4th floors of the historic Starrett-Lehigh Building. Located in West Chelsea, this 2.3 million-square-foot industrial-modernist landmark was designed by Yasuo Matsui and completed in 1931. Originally a freight terminal featuring massive elevators for trains and trucks, the 19-story structure gained international acclaim in MoMA’s 1932 “International Style” exhibition and remains celebrated for its iconic ribbon windows.

Spending five hours exploring SHOPPE OBJECT New York Winter 2026 was truly not enough time to navigate the two floors and converse with the many brands of interest I found. The show was packed with over 800 curated brands, yet it maintained the cool, approachable vibe I appreciate. The energy this season was incredible. 20% of exhibitors were new brands, and nearly half of the brands were from abroad, spanning 40 countries. It’s more than just a trade show; it’s a gathering for those who truly value the inspired and the well-made. From its roots in NYC to its new international events in Paris, Shoppe Object is the premier destination for taste-making merchants and editors.

Founder Jean-David Jacoby of Hellenist Paris at SHOPPE OBJECT New York Winter 2026

Maison Duquesne manages a portfolio of lifestyle brands, including Chris Collins, D’ORSAY, and Nez Éditions, amongst others. From niche fragrance brands to luxury perfume houses to home scents, providing everything to scale bespoke consulting, domestic manufacturing, in-house logistics, e-commerce management, and brand representation. Two brands were presented: Hellenist Paris and Fer à Cheval. Hellenist, founded by Jean-David Jacoby, is a scented odyssey that bridges the ages. Rooted in Greek mythology, the fragrances tap into a collective poetic unconscious filled with the legends and sensations of childhood. By blending fine art with high perfumery, Hellenist resurrects forgotten heroes, inviting you into a world where time stands still. The latest release, Les Dieux aux Bains (the bath of the gods), impressed. Established in 1856, Fer à Cheval is a historic Marseille-based soap manufacturer and a certified Living Heritage Company. They produce authentic Savon de Marseille using an original 1688 recipe made with 100% natural, biodegradable ingredients. Free from dyes and perfumes, their soap is hypoallergenic and environmentally friendly.

Launched in 2011 by Chrissy Fichtl, the Brooklyn-based brand APOTHEKE has evolved into a premier luxury fragrance house. Its signature candles feature a premium blend of soy and mineral waxes, while its collection of soaps and lotions utilizes natural, plant-based ingredients. Beyond fragrance, the brand maintains a strong philanthropic mission, donating thousands of pounds of soap to the Bowery Mission and supporting organizations like Autism Tomorrow and the Red Hook Art Project.

Each one is hand-poured into a clear glass vessel designed to let the vibrant wax colors complement your decor. Tracing its evolution from the Royal Wax Manufacturer to the French monarchy, TRUDON continues to blend its storied heritage with modern artistry. Guided by their emblem’s motto, “Deo Regique Laborant” (The bees work for God and the King), the brand’s newest release, the Figuier Collection, serves as a luminous return to its historical roots. The collection is housed in striking celadon glass, a tribute to the iconic character Céladon from Honoré d’Urfé’s 17th-century masterpiece, L’Astrée. Crafted by perfumer Émilie Bouge, the fragrance captures the essence of the Versailles gardens. It opens with vibrant fig and hyacinth, transitioning into the scent of damp earth and raw woods—evoking the olfactory memory of a fig tree tucked away in the shadows of a royal greenhouse. The Figuier scent is available in four candle sizes, as well as diffusers and room sprays.

  • What a cool trade show! I really enjoyed the descriptions of all the brands but especially Trvdon and Olibanum. One of my favorite fragrance houses for candles and a house centered around one of my favorite ingredients (how have I never heard of them!?). The vibe as described sounds like fun and I would have had to be kicked out at the end. I am in Texas USA.

  • My standouts from the report where a couple of brands. Hellenist Paris, with its focus on Greek mythology and French craftsmanship, has sustainable scents that merge the ancient with the modern. Fer à Cheval as a living heritage company has heirloom products that are natural and environmentally friendly. Van Dang Fragrances is another brand that focus on sustainability and natural components in their products. At lastly, Fischersund, an Icelandic brand that is also an art collective; their handcrafted scents that are inspired by the unique nature and elements of Iceland.

  • Hernando, what an awesome recap of this very multi-layered and diverse trade show! Anyone who’s actually traversed the halls of Shoppe Object knows how difficult it is to summarize this cacophony of design, beauty, color, texture and sensorial pursuits merged with commerce in a setting that is a universe of its own. Your attention to detail and ability to extract the spirit and emotion of each brand is admirable. And how wonderful to have the accompanying photos. Thank you so much for another comprehensive review!

I enjoyed reading about the layerable scent kits by S.S,K. (Labs). What could be more satisfying than creating the perfect scent for yourself and you mood? I live in Maryland USA.

Well, first of all, I now have an added stop at APOTHEKE during an upcoming trip to Brooklyn! Thank you Hernando! Then there are the rabbit holes of discovering other fragrance houses. Including discovering S.S.K (Labs) and their fragrance kits. It is truly an wonderland of fragrance. Appropriately completed with a bath of the gods.

  • 800 brands at one show is a lot. The brands/house that were described were new to me and I enjoyed the learning. CON US

  • Hernando’s report from SHOPPE OBJECT New York Winter 2026 truly transported me. I could almost feel the light pouring through the iconic ribbon windows of the Starrett-Lehigh Building and sense the creative energy pulsing through the floors. What most appealed to me was the global perspective—brands from 40 countries, nearly half from abroad, yet all curated with that cool, approachable NYC edge. It felt less like a trade show and more like a true gathering of scent visionaries.

I was especially captivated by Hellenist Paris and the concept of fragrance as a “scented odyssey” rooted in Greek mythology. Les Dieux aux Bains sounds extraordinary—the combination of juniper, lemon, and eucalyptus with water flowers, rosemary, vetiver, and ambroxan feels both luminous and grounding. I love the idea of a fragrance that evokes ancient ritual and timeless beauty while still feeling modern and wearable.

Beyond Hellenist, I was intrigued by the strong emphasis on mindful luxury and sustainability throughout the show—from heritage craftsmanship to transparent sourcing and eco-conscious materials. The blend of artistry, history, and innovation really stood out as a defining trend.

I live in Colorado, USA (CONUS).

Thank you again for the opportunity—this was a beautiful and inspiring report!

  • So many cool brands and stories, and I love how place of origin plays such a specific role in how brand owners/founders express themselves through scent. I’m already a big fan of Hellenist, but I was delighted to learn about Olibanum and their simple fragrances and gentle approach to perfumery. I’ll have to try them out!

    I live in NYC

  • Hernando’s piece compels to me because it doesn’t just list brands; it maps out a constellation of stories where every house has a strong sense of place and philosophy, from Marseille’s Fer à Cheval heritage soap to Blueme’s science-backed wellness and TRUDON’s royal wax lineage. That make SHOPPE OBJECT feel less like a trade show and more like a pilgrimage for the senses.

Hellenist’s Les Dieux aux Bains crystallizes that for me; a mythic “bath of the gods” feels like a story I want to step into, not just a formula on paper, but rather a ritual-like moment. That fusion of Greek mythology, high perfumery, makes the fragrance feel like stepping into a secret marble bath in some timeless sanctuary, reframed through precise contemporary French-style perfumery, hits the sweet spot between intellectual concept and immediate wearability.

Within that context, Fischersund is what intrigues me most, because it channels the strangeness and beauty of Iceland into a full multisensory universe. The combination of Icelandic landscape, “germination” of notes, and familial, artistic collaboration makes Fischersund feel like a personal portal into a place I’ve long been fascinated by, an olfactory way to visit Iceland’s otherworldly terrain without ever leaving the show floor.

  • So many lovely scents and perfumes, however will we try them all! Such a fun round up of the brands and people that Hernando was able to speak with! I would love to try from Olibanum, Fischersund, Trudon, and Apotheke, who donates to causes I support. And of course, it would be so fun to try Les Dieux aux Bains, which sounds so yummy with juniper, one of my favorites…. thank you for all your hard work on this review of Shoppe Object! I’m in the us.

  • Always interesting to read Hernando’s reports! It sounds like fun to be able to explore all these creative brands in one space. I was very interested to read about Fischersund, as Sigur Ros was much listened to and talked about when I was in art school. It would be so fascinating to follow their move from sound to scent!
Hellenist is also appealing to me: I’d love to try their scents. And what pretty bottles!
    Thanks for the generous giveaway!

SHOPPE OBJECT is a great way to find out new emerging brands and test out their fragrances on site. I’m familiar with some of the brands presented here like Hellenistic but for most of them I am new. I like that’s it’s also not strictly fragrances but also some other fragrant products for us to complement our lifestyles. I would really need a full day to just got brand by brand and fully immerse myself into these brands. Hernando is always at all those events and his reporting is impeccable as always. I’m definitely keeping my eyes out for the August date coming up. I’m located in the CON USA.

  • Such a beautiful event and a wonderful selection! I’m really inspired by the creativity behind these fragrances and would be thrilled to experience them myself. Thank you for the chance to enter this generous giveaway!

  • this would be a fantastic trade show to attend- brand houses from literally all over the world! i love how most the brands use environmentally friendly & sustainable products when creating. i enjoyed reading about each brand, from the siblings in iceland to the bridges in luxury & affordability, & also, two different cultures connecting. for as much as there seems to be going on there- this review brilliantly & thoughtfully captured the essence of the show by showcasing this handful of wonderfully sounding brands. i really enjoyed this read. i am in the united states. thank you.

  • It’s inspiring to see such a beautifully curated mix of global makers, from the mythic elegance of Hellenist Paris to the heritage craft of Fer a Cheval and the creativity of brands like Van Dang and Osmology. Osmology is a brand I wasn’t previously familiar with and their philosophy is totally my vibe.

The report came across as so much more than a trade show — a true celebration of scent, craft, culture, and community. Thanks for transporting us there with such vibrant storytelling, Hernando!

    I’m in the US.

  • Sounds like a heavenly experience! I’m intrigued by SSK (Labs) because as an analyst I love knowing the details about how perfumes are constructed. I build stories from collecting all the details, so I enjoy knowing how fragrance ingredients work. (Con US)

  • ahh such a fun post, my soul is pulled to the featured hellenist scent which sounds both like floating on a clear pool in a garden and grounding on green at the same time. but the whole article is intriguing – especially the idea of going to a gorgeous, historic building to dive into other times and visions with scent. that would make the whole visit seem extra vibrant and unique. fischersund in particular sounds very special, with fragrances “using herbs and oils harvested in the Icelandic wild” and combining their brand with an art collective focus.
i’m in the US – thank you!

I would love to be able to attend shows like this but my schedule and location do not always play along. “For the inspired and well made” = luxury+mindfulness. CON USA.

  • The information packed into this article is fierce and will send me researching! But I can’t even imagine 800 participants for a trade show like this: It must be overwhelming! Still, I was pleased to meet these houses and creators in this article and rather tickled to realize that I already have met Fischersund when I went to the exhibit at the National Nordic Museum! It was pretty amazing! Okoke is a House I hadn’t heard of that itrigues me very strongly, too! I am more of a personal fragrance lover than a candle user (cat in the house and flame can equal disaster) but I do love seeing the creativity flourish like this!

  • So many brands to get through in a short time. I am curious about the Olibanum line. Now I am curious what the White House smells like. One of my local shops started selling Fischersund and now I must go see what porcelain smells like. Les Dieux Aux Bains sounds like a great scent for the upcoming spring. Thanks for showcasing this event for us on the west coast. WA state USA.

  • Ooh so many great ones here, both classic and new. I’ve had my eye on Fischersund because I’ve heard great things and I’ve yet to try them! Excited to though, hopefully soon. I also love fig so the Figuier Collection from Trudon sounds appealing to me. I also love juniper, eucalyptus and water flowers (lotus I assume?) so I’m very excited to enter into the giveaway for Hellenist Paris Les Dieux aux Bains and since I only have one from them the discovery set is super exciting as well. Thank you for the generous giveaway! Am in Con US.

  • I love how Hellenist evokes mythology and exploration – Les Dieux aux Bains sounds delightful. Olibanum and Glasshouse fragrances also caught my attention. I love the creativity and fresh ideas all of these brands brought to the trade show. I live in Illinois, USA.

  • SSK (LABS) and the LAB-101 approach to engage the public sound very cool! It is educational and it encourages scent exploration. I would probably wind up staying there for the entire day, except for a couple of hours when I visit Hellenist Paris. Overall, Shoppe Object sounds like a friendly trade show. I live in NE, USA.

  • The Starrett-Lehigh building is a gorgeous venue for the SHOPPE OBJECT NY event. I haven’t been inside but remember seeing it while in NYC a few years ago. It sounds like Hernando had a blast visiting all the independent fragrance kiosks. I love the Hellenist fragrance inspiration of a scented odyssey that bridges the ages. USA

  • It’s interesting that international vendors were so well represented. I find myself pining for global goods all the more since it’s been a bit fraught buying direct from overseas. Making a note to self to remember to check out Olibanum, I like the material and the vision. As for Maison Duquesne, Les Dieux aux Bains piques my interest with novel notes like “flowerpool” — I’m not always an aquatic gal but now and then the right one sweeps me off my feet, and this sounds like a good candidate. I’m in the continental USA, thank you for the report and the draw!

  • SSK’s emphasis on layering is interesting; it’s difficult to do well, so leaning into that is a smart way to give the people what they want. Also, I love the presentation of Blueme’s stand. I’ll admit that Jónsi’s involvement makes me interested in Fischersund, but Faux Flora No. 1 also sounds like a daring artistic leap. Thanks for the coverage of a huge event.

    I’m in Wisconsin, USA.

First of all, I enjoyed reading Hernando’s description of the Starrett-Lehigh Building in West Chelsea. It’s always a joy when events are held in such beautiful buildings. And I, of course, enjoyed reading about the various creators who showed their wares at the event. I was particularly interested in APOTHEKE, Hellinist Paris, Fischersund, and Catskills Candle Company.
Thanks for the report and giveaway!

  • The new york winter event sounded grand as ever. It’s remarkable how far the fragrance and wellness industry has come it the last few decades. I really like how the Hellenist bottles are somewhat simplistic and subtle but I’m not fooled. The craft they put into it speaks volumes. This sounds like a spring banger and as the clocks move forward so do our trains of thought in 2026. Would love to own this spring. From USA.
