I’m a huge fan of Roja Dove, especially the Aoud Collection, my favorite is Amber Aoud. Steven mentioned the many notes, some of which are Saffron, Coconut and Coffee Beans. Sounds delicious! MI USA

    I do appreciate Steven saying that this is not only a coffee fragrance but also has some other nuances such as florals, a bit of sweetness and some creamy touches. Roja is truly one of the iconic houses and finally it was time they gave us a proper coffee fragrance. I cannot ignore notes such as the pistachio, milk and coconut that add that twist of not only coffee but with some other touches making it truly unique. Also the spicy touch on account of the cinnamon could also even be like a Mediterranean coffee which some have that spicy touch. Many thanks to Twisted Lilly for this amazing giveaway as I know Roja fragrances are not the cheapest and we truly appreciate this. What intrigues me the most I’d say it’s to try it and see how Roja does a coffee scent the Roja way. I’m located in NJ (contiguous US).

    I’m located in the contiguous USA – I haven’t smell it but what intrigued me from Steven’s review is the combination of caramelized nuts and pistachio creating a sophisticated, cozy texture that feels like sitting by a fireplace on next to heavy, handcrafted wooden furniture. Also intriguing is that the Oud is substantial but completely clean and dry—layered with cedar and birch—which perfectly anchors the gourmand notes.

    After listening to Steven from Redolessence describe this scent it has definitely peaked my interest. Roja Dove Fragrances are so amazing!!! The notes sound phenomenal and I know this one would not disappoint one bit. I currently own Elysium Pour Homme and Burlington 1819 and they are two gorgeous fragrances!!! Both are huge compliment getters and I would just love to add this one to my collection.

    I don’t actually drink coffee, but I adore the smell of it. Steven’s review makes Roja Dove’s espresso note sound incredibly true‑to‑life. A realistic coffee/espresso vibe in perfume is so delicious. As he said, “not gimmicky…something special”.

    Spiced coffee scents are some of my favorites. Add in some pistachio and caramelized nuts and I can imagine myself being back in a spice market and taking in the smells.

    Espresso Aoud is a take on classic coffee forward profile with a super realistic and refined strongly brewed dark roasted coffee combined with a subtle hint of a lactonic milkiness, and a caramelized nuttiness; in addition, sandalwood, cinnamon, coconut, vanilla, benzion, moss, and leather and cashmeran have a strong presence that round out the olfactic structure. It is well blended, earthy and complex with an oud note that while being substantial, is a light presence that works in unison with dark, dry woods in the base to envelop the composition as whole making it a more mature and sophisticated coffee scent that stands out among the rest.

    To be honest I heard violet and thought immediate no. Violet for me ruins a lot of otherwise appealing fragrances. But the sheer volume of notes listed piques my interest. It feels old school in that way yet still modern by interjecting gourmand facets like coffee, cinnamon, nuts, and milk. I’m very interested in getting my nose on this.

    High praise for Elysium Noir! 😀 I certainly know the feeling though. When you find that fragrance that truly hits in a collection of several hundred (or thousand), there’s just no way that it’s going back on the shelf, lost among the others. Definitely glad to hear that the vanilla and amber aren’t too sweet in this one, as well as the absence of a milky vibe. Overly lactonic frags just aren’t my thang. Steven’s use of the descriptors ‘ancient’ and ‘exotic’ have me intrigued too.

    Always found it strange that coffee absolute was never truly a base material because of its aromaticity. And since it really doesn’t last that long, there needs to be something that carries a coffee fragrance into the drydown – hence the common dependency on gourmand accords and woody ambers. Sounds like this one is expertly balanced though – a feat in of itself for such a complex perfume. Leave it to Roja to leave the florals and moss in. 😉 One of the reasons I keep coming back to the brand. MI, USA.

    ROJA parfums are so intricate and complex! The most notes of any fragrance out there. Roja Dove’s experience living in the Middle East is intriguing in how it influences his fragrance design. My favorite is Aoud Extraordinaire. Espresso Aoud sounds modern and totally unisex. Something that would power your day. (I live in CONUS)

    Roja Dove is an expert in all he does , no wonder almost all fragrance enthusiasts , and critics puts him on such pedestal. He has mastered the art of luxury, bespoke fragrances is what Roja is known for , i’m a tailor who makes bespoke suits , we match well.
    I’ll gladly wear Espresso Aoud , such a refined fragrance , a bit citrucy and sunny coffee based gourmand. The posh combination of zesty citruses, , nuts , moss , coconut and woody facets intrigues me a lot . I can see myself pairing Espresso Aoud with Light Brown Zegna fabrics Herringbone 3 piece Tweed suit.

    “1730 saw Juan Floris set up in Jermyn Street near the Court of St James’s. By 1800 they supplied the Prince of Wales who gave them a Royal Warrant in 1812. The Floris Eau de Cologne was made for them by the Farina Brothers. This cologne is important as when Pierre-Francois-Pascal Guerlain came to England he spent time there and learnt the secret of their Eau de Cologne from them, which he launched in 1830 under the name Eau de Cologne Guerlain. This was put into the famous Golden Bee Bottle which was made as a wedding gift to Napoleon III and Empress Eugenie who granted him permission to call it Eau de Cologne Imperiale (The Empress’ Cologne).”

    My favorite Roja Dove is Amber Aoud Absolue Precieux , mesmerizing scent , Elysium Pour Homme Parfum Cologne is one of my go-to fragrances for the past few years .

The mix in Steven’s video made me more interested as the mix of the coffee/sweetness/milkness/spicy touches make it unique! With espresso feel to the coffee note! With oud and leather!

I’d also like to thank Steven for the amazing review per usual, I’ve been a subscriber of his for years now and he never disappoints. I have never had the pleasure to get my nose on any Roja parfum’s fragrances although I’ve heard of many and how good that Roja is as a complete brand. So winning this to me would be extra special. I absolutely love a good coffee fragrance, and when you add in the notes and the fact that it’s Roja, put it this way, I believe Steven when he co-signed this fragrance a masterpiece. Their quality is unmatched, so I know that this fragrance wouldn’t be any less.     I love the smell of coffee, but I have yet to find a coffee fragrance that I would want to wear… if anyone can do it, Roja can.     I was interested already because I love aouds but ‘not milky’, and nutty caught me for sure. It sounds like it’s super well done and very well made. The uniqueness also is very very attractive as I have tried so many now, it’s hard to find things that don’t instantly remind me of other things.

    An ambery coffee oud with coconut and cinnamon touches sounds very good. I love everything coffee and I will hope to experience this soon. My current benchmark for what a coffee fragrance should aspire to be is Little Song by Meo Fusciuni. I love the aroma of freshly ground coffee beans and no other fragrance has done it better than Little Song that I’ve smelled. Could this Espresso Aoud be a competitor for best coffee scent? I would love to find out! I’m in the USA.

    Naturally what intrigues me the most is the coffee note. As a Cuban I absolutely love espresso but never have thought of smelling like coffee.

    While reading the article “The History of British Perfume” I learned something interesting from this quote:
    “Lavender was so associated with washing and cleanliness at this time a laundress was known as a ‘lavendre”

    In Spanish the word for a laundress is “lavandera”. I never knew that it came from the word “lavender”.

    Oh my goodness. The line in the article from Roja when he describes the arrival to the family to Devon, and his discover, really hit me “My love of perfumery started with a goodnight kiss from my mother.”

    This is the beauty of perfumery as whole, the experience, the voyage, the adventure, risk, and joy. Espresso Aoud sounds like that. The creamy opening of the coffee and lactonic note, and the coconut, while transitioning to the dark Oud and green cipriol.
    If Steven says this is one of the vest releases of 2026, that goes for me.

    What e cites me most about this fragrance is the coffee note. I don’t usually enjoy the taste taste of coffee…but I love the rich aroma of it in fragrance. My favorites all have coffee notes.

    Steven made this sound like the perfect coffee oud fragrance. A coffee scent that’s not skreechy or overly sweet. Oud but not animalic. Warm,cozy and comforting. Also has great longevity. I would love to own this fragrance. It’s definitely going on my list to sample.

    What intrigues me more is how Roja Dove it seems to transform a coffee fragrance into something truly luxurious and sophisticated instead of just another sweet gourmand. The combination of dark roasted espresso, creamy nuances, oud, woods, pistachio, coconut, and spices sounds incredibly rich and opulent but still elegant, very much, the Roja way.

    I also found Steven especially convincing when he mentioned that this is not simply a coffee scent, but a composition with florals, sweetness, creamy textures, and sophisticated woody depth that keeps evolving on skin. His description always made it feel less like a trendy gourmand and more like an artistic, refined experience with character and complexity.     I relate Roja Dove to ultra luxury and exclusivity , Espresso Aoud i have no experience myself but I’m wearing Sweetie Aoud right now and I’m having an espresso right now 🙂
    I’m all for fragrances sitting in in between class and self endurance . The the best citruses and florals available , spices , all smoothen woods, coconut , cup of coffee and resins,
    Espresso Aoud sounds really, really good, and I also think very much lavish all year round fragrance. I’m also curious about how good of a fragrance the new Roja Dove is if Michelyn thinks it’s a truly special perfume , with i imagine a lasting impact . Espresso Aoud I’d wear going out ,or on a date .
    Other than Sweetie Aoud , Apex , Vetiver Pour Homme Parfum Cologne and Creation-E Parfum are also in my possession.

    I like Roja Parfums, and I’d like to try more fragrances from them. “Espresso Aoud” sounds like one I’d like, and it would be my introduction to Roja’s Aoud line. I like to hear about Espresso Aoud’s rich, intense coffee opening. Also, I like to hear that it’s a complex coffee fragrance that isn’t gimmicky. It has a lot of notes, and if anyone should be working with that many notes, it’s Roja Dove. I mean, he did say “The greatest accolade of my working career was when I was invited to number 10 Downing Street, the home of our government, and left having been made a Creative Ambassador for Great Britain.” I enjoy learning about perfumery from Roja Dove.     Coffee and oud seem like they would automatically go together. The roasted, smokiness of coffee beans complement the complex earthy woodiness of the oud. The addition of the floral and gourmand notes seem to add some sweetness and creaminess as per Sreven. MD, USA

    I really enjoy the combination of easygoing ouds with coffee; that accord worked very well in a fragrance I tried a few years back, and I’ve been curious about how a perfumer more practiced with oud would interpret the idea. Michelyn highlighted the way tonka, benzoin, vanilla, and coconut are used to wonderfully texture that accord. “As soon as you spray it on, you are going to get this rich, intense coffee nuance.” Steven describes the coffee smell of Espresso Aoud as organic and natural, with a dense “weight and gravity” in the opening, that has a compelling progression and strong performance. Plus the oud lacks any barnyard tonality and should be easy for novices to wear. Sounds terrific.

I enjoy his flashbacks from his childhood holidays to Devon, since the details are so visual and precise: “My father would always insist on driving – the journey was full of ritual. The way Steven describes the creamy sweetness of tonka, vanilla, coconut, and benzoin blending with roasted coffee beans and elegant oud makes it feel warm, comforting, and luxurious at the same time.     My great grama use to roast coffee on a open fire. When she fill the grinding mill and start turning this unique aroma was all in the kitchen. I hope this perfume smell like that.

    the notes in this fragrance, roja espresso aoud, sound absolutely beautiful- so many incredible notes! i would be so interested to see how this array of notes blend together! there are some in there that are DEFINITELY loves for me- cedar, violet, oakmoss, milk, orange blossom,vanilla, cashmeran… oh my goodness, i couldn’t even imagine! i would be so curious to try this & smell the coffee of this fragrance… with all these other facets… it’s very curious, that is for sure! i love the longevity of the fragrance, as steven said it lasts 12+ hours- that is a dream! i have always wanted to try this house- i love listening & reading the reviews of roja- it would be a dream to actually own one. i’m also, always, infatuated with the presentation of roja dove. everything about the brand & the fact that steven talks this house up so well, makes me want to try it even more. steven says that it’s one of the best fragrances he’s smelled this year- that it’s a masterpiece- & it was love at first smell- how can you not be so curious, now? :). i am in the united states. thank you so much guys & twisted lily!

    Ooh I only have one perfume by Roja and it is amazing, Diaghalev. I’d love to try more. I find espresso or coffee to be hit or miss in fragrances but I trust your reviews. I’d definitely love to try this one. I am located in the U.S.

    I’m intrigued with each layer of the fragrance and how all the ingredients will mesh from the opening through the dry down. For Stephen to need to use his phone for all of the notes let’s me know Roja went all out for this fragrance. I want to experience what the mix of orange blossom, coffee, coconut, and oud will be on the skin and what the development is like over the course of hours. I would LOVE to try this.

    All Roja fragrances I have smelled are deep , and never linear , and Espresso Aoud is one of those unique classy gourmand gems you’ll never forget. I love the addition of tona bean, florals, nuts, woods , resins and coconut to the coffee , from the opening until the drydown the fragrance is absolutely spectacular.
    Michelyn and Steven reviews almost brought me to Italy , sitting on the balcony of a luxury seafront villa in Sicily with striking port views, clear pool and stunning location enjoying the sunset with sparkling mojito cocktail , strong espresso and coconut cookies.
    Risque for Men i love and own , phenomenal scent , and the best Roja Dove fragrance i’m familiar with .
    I’m aware Roja Dove was a guest contributor on Cafleurebon ,I read the “History of British Perfumery” once again and my quote would be:

    As most people, big coffee scent lover. Pretty insane for Steven to say he thinks this might be a masterpiece given his huge collection. I like that he mentioned that it wasn’t one of those fragrances that just smells like a cup of coffee brewed and put into a bottle. Roja is one of my favorite houses because of their quality and depth and complication of their fragrances. Man I love Roja but hate what they do to my wallet 🙂 Cheers from NYC!

    I’m on Cafleurebon for many years now, and I know Roja Dove was a guest contributor on the blog , as many other now famous brand owners and/or perfumers. What i’d like to share from “The History of British Perfumery” article:

    Rose often blended with musk, and it wasn’t uncommon for sugar to be added to the formulae. Everything was perfumed, including leather to make gloves and jerkins, as well as necklaces and girdles which were made from a scented paste which was rolled into balls that were pierced and strung.

    After all those years ~ 8 to be precise, still one of my favorite things on Cafleurebon is reading and/or watching videos about fragrances I know, and comparing the reviewers opinions with mine. As usual i enjoyed the whole experience , even though I’m not exactly on the same page with Michelyn and Steven.
    Espresso Aoud i sampled, whiteout a doubt truly special perfume, but at least on my skin there’s barely any sweetness. To me the opening is a realistic blast of dark-roasted coffee , it’s dark , very rich and bold and as a coffee connoisseur I absolutely love it . The woody warmth come right after, accompanied not by sweetness or coconut, but powdery nuttiness, saffron with leathery nuances , and I personally get well pronounced jammy rose in the drydown , balancing the fragrance really well.
    If I have to rate my favorite Roja Dove fragrances
    1. Vintage , very first release , know amongst long time Roja Dove fans and collectors as “paper label” of Enigma Pure Parfum
    2. Sweetie Aoud / Manhattan
    3. Espresso Aoud/Bergamot Extrait ( long discontinued )

    Perfumes came into general use in England in 16th Century. It was during Elizabeth I’s reign when perfumes were used on the skin for the first time for enjoyment. Alcohol as a solvent was not really known and so scents were often thick and somewhat oily by today’s standards.

    After reading the History of British Perfumery article , watching the video , and from all previous Steven reviews of Roja Dove fragrances I can tell he’s obviously impressed not just by Espresso Aoud release , but by Roja fragrances as a whole , the complexity and quality ingredients , presentation everything is 10/10. Almost feels it’s not just Espresso Aoud, there is a connection with the brand and one of my favorite Cafleurebon contributors.
    Other than Steven enthusiasm , Espresso Aoud deviation from Roja Dove latest releases , the other thing that intrigues me the most are the scent profile that sits in between a ristretto , tonka bean, vanilla, coconut and perfectly dosed sweetness – now that’s a fragrance I’d really enjoy.
    Espresso Aoud feels a like a trip to Italy , the relaxing positive energy and a lot of coffee getaway i need at the moment. No wonder Steven and Michelyn depicted the fragrance is such a fascinating way.
    Elysium Parfum Cologne is my favorite Roja Dove fragrance

    Such a high level of perfumery Roja Dove is, there’s no denying it. Steven and Michelyn spoke of roasted coffee, complexity, elegance, rose ,caramelized nuts , tonka and coconut and I’m loving it.
    Steven take on Espresso Aoud made me think of making and later on eating Coconut Coffee Cake with Coffee Streusel , drinking double or triple shot espresso, and enjoying my time in Paris, uplifting fragrance with roasted coffee , woody and classy nuances.
    Sweetie Aoud , fragrance made to mimic the smell of French Pastry Shop, and particularly freshly baked croissants is my favorite Roja Dove , Creation-E is my second favorite , old private gentleman’s club , with cognac and tobacco smell .
