Parfums MDCI Vetyver Messager (Nathalie Feisthauer) 2026 + A Root Down Giveaway

Parfums MDCI Vetyver Messager

Parfums MDCI Vetyver Messager

A brand widely respected and much loved for its unerring commitment to the idea of bottling a very French sense of refinement,  Parfums MDCI has recently released Vetyver Messager to fill a gap in profile that the brand themselves admit was absent. “Our men’s collection was missing a vetiver,” is how the brand’s creative director Claude Marchal put it when writing to introduce the fragrance and when you are familiar with the brand’s output, that sentence on its own, should be enough to stoke excitement.

“Vetiver allows for countless interpretations,” Marchal continued; “and the one MDCI had been hoping for, for years, had to bring not only something new, but also [deliver] emotion and pleasure.”

Claude Marchal of Parfums MDCI

L-R: MDCI founder Claude Marchal, perfumer Nathalie Feisthauer

And it tracks that it should be  master perfumer Nathalie Feisthauer who delivers on those promises considering both her varied, abundant catalogue and the fact that she has already contributed several fragrances to the brand’s range. Her 2019 composition L’Homme Aux Gants is probably the most relevant to this new release considering the way she fuses sweet, balsamic leanings with weighty woods but Parfums MDCI Vetyver Messager is dynamically unique. Still as accomplished and as stylish, it feels perhaps a touch more casual, reflecting the airy, grassy nature of its hero ingredient.

Vetyver Messager Parfums MDCI

Parfums MDCI Vetyver Messager photo

The composition itself feels seamless and rather Guerlain-esque in the way that it smells classically, aromatically French whilst fusing gourmand notions with woody, resinous base materials. The opening somehow – through a combination of citruses, light spicing and carrot seed oil – smells like a chocolate orange that’s underpinned with the characteristic dryness of the vetiver. It’s somehow simultaneously savoury and sweet and through its complexity I’m reminded of the taste of Botivo, an alcohol-free bittersweet citrus aperitif I was glugging all throughout January, that’s flavoured with wildflower honey, rosemary, thyme, gentian, wormwood and orange zest. It does not – by any means – smell the same, it’s just that the rush of Vetyver Messager’s opening reminds me of the scent of fresh lime, sugar syrup and an ice cold, grapefruit soda mixed with this brooding, darkly herbal, orange-hued herbal liqueur.

Vetyver Messager Parfums MDCI 2026

As one would rightly expect from MDCI, Vetyver Messager is deep and assured, opening itself up for interpretive analysis as much as everyday wear. Even though the perfume’s focus might seem to be playing more with those middle range frequencies of lavender, carrot seed, vetiver, ambroxan and oakmoss, there’s this constant coumarin leaning sweetness present that eventually evolves to a musky vanillic finish. In doing this, Feisthauer is engaging and playing with the vetiver, showing that the root can also have an allure that works in tandem with more edible facets.

Leaning gourmand, is a bit of an unexpected approach, yes, but it’s also a pointedly confident one and Vetyver Messager is a fantastic masculine-leaning gourmand that doesn’t so much revel in the overarching concept of vetiver as much as it does reposition it.

Oli’s review completely reframed how I think about vetiver. What sparks my interest most is his description of the fragrance as “seamless and rather Guerlain-esque” while simultaneously fusing gourmand notions with woody, resinous materials. The idea that a vetiver can open with the complexity of “a chocolate orange that’s underpinned with the characteristic dryness of the vetiver” is utterly intriguing—savoury and sweet coexisting in perfect tension. His personal reference to Botivo, that “alcohol-free bittersweet citrus aperitif” with wildflower honey, rosemary, and orange zest, made my mouth water and my nose tingle with curiosity. I love that Nathalie Feisthauer isn’t just delivering another green, grassy vetiver but is instead “engaging and playing with the vetiver, showing that the root can also have an allure that works in tandem with more edible facets.” This sounds like a vetiver for someone who thought they knew vetiver—a “masculine-leaning gourmand that doesn’t so much revel in the overarching concept of vetiver as much as it does reposition it.” After reading about Claude Marchal’s years-long search for the right interpretation, and knowing Feisthauer’s pedigree with L’Homme Aux Gants, I trust that this is something special. I am a registered reader in the EU, Germany and would be thrilled to win Vetyver Messager.

Any new mdci release is cause for celebration but vetiver is a material that can go so many different directions. Based on oli s review I am convinced we are in good hands here and look forward to trying this masculine gourmand take. Also appreciate the call out of the non-alcoholic aperitif. Always looking for these to add to the cabinet. I’m in Texas USA

  • Sybelle16 says:

Oli notes that Vetyver Messager continues Parfums MDCI’s tradition incorporating French perfumery elements, with a twist. From a bright, slightly citrus and subtlety spicey opening, Vetyver Messager is both savory and sweet. The veviter in Vetyver Messager is reimagined working in tandem with other standout notes of carrot seed, ambroxin, oakmoss, lavender and coumarin which evokes a vanilla-like sweetness, giving the vetiver note an alluring essence. It is a masculine-leaning gourmand that reconceptualizes the standard concept of vetiver in perfumery.

I like how Oli mentions that this fragrance has a gourmand aspect to it. I also love Hermessence Vetiver Tonka, and that fragrance also seems to have some facets of a gourmand as well. With notes like cardamon, carrot oil, and pink berries, this fragrance sounds like a real joy to wear. I live in Maryland USA.

  • I would love to win MDCI Vetyver Messager from MDCI Parfums because it represents everything I admire about classic perfumery—elegance, refinement, and character. Vetiver is one of my favorite notes, and this fragrance is known for presenting it in a sophisticated, perfectly balanced way with depth and freshness. Winning it would give me the chance to experience a truly artistic scent that I’ve admired for a long time but haven’t yet had the opportunity to own. It would be a special addition to my collection and something I would wear with great appreciation. ✨

I love the perfumes from MDCI with Invasion Barbare being my favorite and I remember owning a bottle of it like 15 years ago or so. But since then, I did not keep up with the new releases of this house as the samples are very hard to come by. I am curious on how the creativity evolved on their latest releases and how this vetiver approach will be compared to the ones already existing on the market. Knowing Invasion Barbare and the impact it had on the fragrance community, I am sure Vetyver Messager will live up to the standards! Thank you! EU

  • Ohhh this is exciting!! I’m actually craving incense and vetiver fragrances lately. The cooling refreshing clarity type of fragrance. I’m so thankful for this review because I would have thought this came off as a fougere but a masc leaning gourmand sounds so much more enticing to me. This house has some phenomenal scents so I’m sure this is special.
I am located in the USA. Thank you for the generous giveaway.

  • TheScentedPage says:

Okay, Oli, stop this now: “chocolate orange that’s underpinned with the characteristic dryness of the vetiver”. I have a credit card and I know how to use it.

    Better yet. I could win!

  • I’m really intrigued by the idea of a gourmand-leaning vetiver, especially the way Oli describes that opening with citrus, spice, and carrot seed creating a sort of “chocolate orange” effect over the dryness of vetiver. That balance of savory, herbal, and sweet sounds incredibly unique for a vetiver fragrance. I also love the mention of the coumarin sweetness evolving into a musky, vanillic finish—it sounds like the kind of composition that shifts and reveals new facets over time. The Guerlain-esque classical French style with a modern gourmand twist makes this one especially appealing to me. I’d love to experience how Nathalie Feisthauer reinterprets vetiver in this way.

    I live in Colorado, USA.

  • HueloBien says:

I only have tried one fragrance from MDCI (invasion barbare), and it’s a lovely scent. Masculinw abs with character.

Oli’s review of Vetyver Messager sounds like a breath fresh air. A masculine leaning gourmand? Now you got my attention. But you got me at “Guerlain-esque”.

I wish I can add this one to my collection.

    From Massachusetts.

  • MDCI always does such an incredible job with more classic perfume compositions and scent profiles, so I’m chomping at the bit reading about this vetiver fragrance. Guerlain-esque is a great way to grab my attention, and the balance of sweetness and savoriness sounds wonderful. French perfumery remains unmatched! I live in NYC.

  • Well, this ticks all the boxes for me, going by the review. A new approach to vetiver, the cold grapefruit/herbal cocktail mentioned simultaneously made me drool and made me want to run for my European summer cologne to get that herbal citrus hit, and the musky vanilla dry down is one of my comfort spots! I live in theUS.

The right way to start with Claude Marchal life story , creative fragrance enthusiast with a decade of experience working for a large fragrance and cosmetic corporation and now founder and brand owner , Apparently Claude was a bright mind at young age with interest in perfumes , art and creativity , soaking all kinds of inspirations from his father and all other creative people he worked with during the years. For a small niche brand owner he likes triggering past and forging future artistic memories with all his creations . I can tell with Parfums MDCI he found the right track. Best of luck to him and the brand !
Parfums MDCI Vetyver Messager is brazen and seductive vetiver gourmand , where succulent herbal orange-hued liquor and lavender are easy to detect , on the flip side because of resinous base and vanilla also possesses edible personality. Special fragrance i’d cherish if I win.

  • I decided to share my takeaway about Claude Marchal life and Parfums MDCI cycles first since it’s important to me

“I was born in Alexandria, Egypt, where from 1948- 1956 my father was the principal of the French Lycée. My parents brought many antiquities they found back to France a part of the collection of antiques they had gathered during their years in Egypt, and this collection became the source of my inspiration for what eventually became the bottles of the little MDCI brand.”

It’s interesting that I developed my affinity for modern vetiver fragrance with slightly gourmandish aspects recently , especially those with a tranquil attitude
Just got back from my latest one , and already preparing for my next craft exhibition in Munich Germany , and as artisan myself, I’m a leather arts craft woman i can’t even describe how overjoyed I felt today after reading about Claude Marchal life cycles. Crafting always brings joy to the artist no questions asked . We share a lot of common objectives and principles, Claude Marchal and I .
Vetyver Messager is not just the great smelling aroma with vetiver , lavender and vanilla , there’s also musk , liquor and different temptations , it’s almost like Nathalie Feisthauer fragrance is part of a fantasy Egyptian story .
Of course Oli Marlow thoughts and the previous Claude Marchal articles i also enjoyed equally , Vetiver Messager is a bit alluring but comforting vetiver , directly influenced by Nathalie Feisthauer creative nature.
    Much appreciated, EU

I’m very picky about brands and fragrances I’m wearing, especially vetivers and gourmands and Parfums MDCI is a brand that has been on my radar after all the praises both from Redolessence and Instagram . I’d love to try the
Infamous Invasion Barbare and thanks to Oli Marlow i’m aware Nathalie Feisthauer just created another gem called Vetyver Messager.
I was not expecting she’d create a dense vetiver with rich herbs , resins, orange zest and even gourmand elements in the drydown. Vetyver Messager is a high-end contemporary vetiver , and I’m particularly interested in the alluring aura of the fragrance .
    Thanks a bunch

Oli Marlow revealed a lot , from the bold approach , to the alcohol free Botivo citrus aperitif with lots of herbs and smooth orange zest , to the exceptional musky and resinous vanilla , and last but not least how Seductive Nectar is also wrapped in a seductive edible vail , Nathalie Feisthauer made the new Parfums MDCI fragrance so addictive and rich , not an easy task I believe.

Since I enjoyed everything I read I’m not sure where should even start with. Should I start with Claude Marchal affection for art and beauty , his passion for creative fragrances , or the unique contrast between the cozy vanilla , tonka bean and lavender haze , the playful musk , or maybe the importance of the orange zest and of course the vetiver ? All are equally as important for the forming of Parfums MDCI Vetyver Messager identity .
Thanks to Oli know the new Nathalie Feisthauer fragrance is just great , showing up the true elegance of Parfums MDCI perfumery .

If he believes Vetyver Messager is fantastic i think i should be prepare myself to fall hard for Parfums MDCI latest, the fragrance should be outstanding. I believe the dark resinous vanilla in drydown , and the lavender and orange zest are making the fragrance so addictive and unapologetic , i can’t even imagine how good it really is , dopamine rush i can already feel.
Nathalie Feisthauer did set the bar quite high for all modern vetiver fragrances i believe

In my steadily growing fragrance collection there are no Parfums MDCI fragrances and I’m very much looking forward of trying Vetiver Messager.
Even though Oli Marlow spoke of all the different gourmand aspects in the drydown of the fragrance like the tonka bean and vanilla , I’m glad Vetiver Messager has no childish gimmicks and Oly Marlow own words of carrot seed, citruses and complexity made the difference for me.
I love clubbing and Parfums MDCI Vetyver Messager is just perfect for the times i’m going to more high end parties , unforgettable and delicious aroma , like a beautiful and unique song.

  • What sparks my interest most is the story behind the fragrance: Claude Marchal admitting their men’s collection was missing a vetiver, and waiting years for the right interpretation that would bring “not only something new, but also emotion and pleasure.” That patience and dedication to quality is rare in today’s market. The way Oli describes Nathalie Feisthauer’s composition as “dynamically unique” yet “still as accomplished and as stylish” speaks to her remarkable talent. His observation that it smells “classically, aromatically French whilst fusing gourmand notions with woody, resinous base materials” is exactly the kind of sophisticated tension I seek in a fragrance. The mention of “constant coumarin leaning sweetness present that eventually evolves to a musky vanillic finish” promises a vetiver with warmth and depth, not just the usual green austerity. I’ve long admired MDCI from afar their stunning bottles, their commitment to artistry but have yet to own one. Vetyver Messager sounds like the perfect entry point: a vetiver that “repositions” the ingredient rather than merely showcasing it.

  • FragranceFrenzyS says:

Oli’s review has completely upended my expectations of what a vetiver fragrance can be. What sparks my interest most is his description of Feisthauer “engaging and playing with the vetiver, showing that the root can also have an allure that works in tandem with more edible facets.” As someone who typically finds straight-ahead vetivers too austere or “barbershop” for my taste, the promise of a vetiver with “constant coumarin leaning sweetness” and a “musky vanillic finish” sounds like exactly the interpretation I’ve been waiting for. The opening alone—”citruses, light spicing and carrot seed oil” creating the sensation of a “chocolate orange” alongside the characteristic dryness of vetiver—is a combination I never knew I needed. Oli’s vivid description of it as “savoury and sweet” with the complexity of a “darkly herbal, orange-hued herbal liqueur” makes me want to experience this tension on my own skin. That Nathalie Feisthauer, whose work I’ve admired for years, is the one delivering this “pointedly confident” interpretation for a house as esteemed as MDCI only deepens my curiosity. A vetiver that “doesn’t so much revel in the overarching concept as much as it does reposition it” is precisely the kind of innovative, boundary-pushing perfumery that excites me. EU

  • Ensorceler says:

What draws me in most is the idea of a gourmand-leaning vetiver, one that softens the note’s usual dryness with an unexpectedly edible, emotive glow. The thought of a “chocolate orange underpinned by vetiver” feels both intriguing and comforting, and with Nathalie Feisthauer behind it, I can almost sense that refined warmth she handles so beautifully. I love that MDCI’s goal wasn’t simply to add a vetiver, but to reimagine it with feeling, texture, and a touch of French elegance that speaks to both the heart and the skin.

I liked the way Oli Marlow underlines in his review that Vetyver Messager possess passionate and balanced characteristics . I’d gladly wear the fragrance all year round.
Cafleurebon and Oli Marlow know well how to deliver exclusivity , no doubt about that. Vetyver Messager offers sensuality and delicious memories relying on tonka and vanilla , woods , different spices and herbs too and considering the desirable features of I’d say the fragrance has a soothing vetiver character of its own.

Non alcohol liquor with orange zest mixed with grapefruit , herbs and spices and slightly sweet base , Vetyver Messager is a fragrance where perfumery traditions meeting new horizons. He also loves the oakmoss , the warmth of the tonka and i believe he’ll keep forging a lot of new memories with Vetyver Messager complex and comforting aroma.

  • Too true that the collection needed a vetiver! Always considered it a material that leaned french, especially since Guerlain’s edt is basically a reference. Carven’s original take as well. So yeah, I hear Guerlain-esque and I’m all in. Interesting about the chocolate orange vibe though. And mixed with a grapefruit soda? Spring time here we come! But most of all, I’m intrigued that Oli called it a gourmand. Not many gourmand vetivers that I know of – even the truly nutty ones – so I’m all nostrils. In fact quite a few from the brand deserve more praise apart from just Chypre Palatin and Invasion Barbare. I’ll be giving this one a sniffy regardless. Appreciate the heads up! MI, USA.

Vetyver Messager by Parfums MDCI captivated my interest. With the assistance of Oli Marlow i can tell the usage of two different types of gourmands aspects , vanilla and tonka bean are expertly applied by Nathalie Feisthauer, and the lavender and playful hedione are giving Vetyver Messager a few different alluring edges.
I’m keen on novelty aperitif like “Botivo” too and I’m down with the idea of smooth and tempting vetiver fragrances like Vetyver Messager. I acknowledge Oli Marlow fine work and I’d like to say I’m thankful for the chance. EU

  • Vetiver is one of those notes I keep returning to, and yet somehow it still manages to surprise me when a perfumer finds a genuinely new angle. Oli’s description of that opening — citruses, carrot seed and spice somehow conspiring to create a chocolate orange effect over the dryness of the root — stopped me mid-read. That’s not a combination I saw coming, and I mean that as a compliment.
What really draws me in is the gourmand thread running underneath. Not the sledgehammer sweetness you sometimes get, but that quieter coumarin warmth slowly pulling everything toward a musky vanilla finish. It sounds like the kind of fragrance that shifts on your skin across a day in ways worth paying attention to.
Knowing this is Feisthauer’s work makes it feel even more credible — L’Homme Aux Gants showed she knows exactly how to balance weight and sweetness without either element winning too convincingly. It sounds like she’s done something similar here, just with more air in it.
MDCI apparently waited years for the right vetiver. That patience tends to show.

I think in Vetyver Messager by the house of Parfums MDCI there’s not sad parts , and everything is leading to good , tempting , fun and even delicious memories , smiles and unique vetiver wink . Oli Marlow even said the aroma is a pointedly confident vetiver gourmand.
I have a keen interest in Vetyver Messager because of Claude Marchal and Oli Marlow personalities , and how delicious the fragrance is . I find the blend unique, classy yet mouthwatering and sexy. The carrot seeds and musk are more than welcomed too
    Thank you kindly EU

What I just read was not just a refined and detailed read , but some unique stories with guilty alcohol-free bittersweet citrus aperitif called Botivo , musky vanilla pleasures , refined craftsmanship , but Claude Marchal and Nathalie Feisthauer contemporary gourmand-vetiver ambitions and dreams turned into reality , and I’m loving it.
What I enjoyed overall are the two tones of the “Nathalie Feisthauer 2026 plus a root down giveaway” , the older read with Claude Marchal life and career retrospective and own reviews , and Oli introduction to Vetyver Messager , all grabbed my attention right away .
I love good and sophisticated gourmands with woods and earth nuances like the latest Parfums MDCI , finest quality vetiver , just like I love happy , dedicated pioneers like Claude Marchal and Nathalie Feisthauer , the whole experience of all the articles is like a medley of creativity . Love her fragrances and I very much enjoyed the way she made one unbelievable aroma like Vetyver Messager in a unique , yet so unforgettable and daring at the same time way

I love vetiver. It’s my favorite note. This sounds like it has a nice zingy citrus opening. I’d love to win this. I live in Indiana.

  • I have a vetiver in my collection, but I’m always open to expanding my list. As Mr. Marchal says, I’m missing a new vetiver, especially if it’s created by Ms. Feisthauer. This scent follows a Guerlain tradition, that is, classic French, but with a gourmand and resinous touch in its base. I love its citrusy, light herbal, and spicy opening. Its sweet/savoury tone, and like all MDCI perfumes, it’s deep and shows us the versatility of vetiver when combined with gourmand notes. I live in Spain, EU

Judging by the provided link i tend to believe all fragrances in the Parfums MDCI line are fully original , all made by famous perfumers and I’m loving it. Vetyver Messager doesn’t go all the way into syrupy juvenile gourmand no , and that’s a good thing. Nathalie Feisthauer really knows how to work with the sweet and bold kind of notes to make a complex and beguiling gourmand instead. It’s the subtle musky vanilla , carrot seed, lavender and moss touch that makes all the difference. I share Oli’s sentiment in that this scent very well is showing that the root can also have an allure that works in tandem with more edible facets.
The warm musky vanillic finish do provide some much needed heat imo . The bottle is also quite the artwork itself reminding you to wear it every chance you get. What a treat! I’m located in the EU.

  • Summed up by Claude Marchal introduction in the current and Creative Director in Perfumery articles, plus the Oli Marlow review I’d say Parfums MDCI is an unapologetically bold and sophisticated fragrance brand that captures the sweetness, depth, and sensuality of modern desire , strive for originality and comfort .
Vetyver Messager turns warm and sensual with rich swirls of zesty citruses , alcohol free bittersweet aperitif like Botivo and the playful ambroxan and vetiver nuances create a unapologetically dreamy center. As it settles, the fragrance deepens into a warm and sensual base of sandalwood, resins and vanilla . The fragrance is both exotic and luxurious, evoking memories of shared sweetness , perhaps a few drinks with friends or loved ones .
I don’t have Parfums MDCI fragrances in my possession, I’m aware of Nathalie Feisthauer sure and I’d love to experience the newest one they made together.Kudos to all, in EU

Senior editor Oli Marlow review is so sophisticated. His work on Vetyver Messager by Parfums MDCI is noteworthy , I’m impressed by the way he and the scent bonded . Since i read the recommended by Michelyn Camen article , I can say all fragrances by the brand are sophisticated and made with quality ingredients , and Claude Marchal dedicated to the art of perfumery is impressive.
Vetyver Messager grabbed me with high quality ingredients , mouthwatering grapefruit soda, vanilla , herbs, vetiver aroma and good energy.
I’m not a kid anymore, but Vetyver Messager opening and idea of trying again sugar syrup and ice cold grapefruit soda brought me back to my childhood, maybe I should find a place that sells one… Everything in Vetyver Messager sounds awesome. Thanks EU

The Parfums MDCI presentation i really like , I know it’s about the juice and not the bottle , but the very first image of Vetyver Messager immediately caught my eye with the red ribbon.
This deep and modern vetiver , citruses, spices and no childish gimmicks take on gourmand brushed with vanillic finesse sounds wonderful. Bold and seductive? Absolutely I’d love to try this and get a chance to check out the the aroma and the bottle in person.
… the rush of Vetyver Messager’s opening reminds me of the scent of fresh lime, sugar syrup and ice cold , grapefruit soda mixed with this brooding, darkly herbal, orange-hued herbal liquor … So nice

Botivo bittersweet backbone, herbal notes and a tang of citrus is of my favorite things to consume and smell , so I am very excited to try Vetyver Messager by Parfums MDCI . Together with the spices , vanilla musk the vetiver blend sounds delicious and sumptuous. I am interested in the lavender and carrot seeds too , and the way they temper the gourmand notes. I also think the slightly musky vanilla note is brilliant, adding comfort and seduction . The bottle is stunning!

Thank you Oli for the interesting read about Parfums MDCI new release! I have to try all available fragrances since I only know , and by the way own Invasion Barbare.
The way you describe the scent of Vetyver Messager makes me feel just as uplifted and excited as I do with the other original and sophisticated niche perfumes I own. I value brands like Parfums MDCI a lot since they truly evoke a sense of joy, blending the artistry of the bottles with the beauty of the perfumes themselves. Through your review, you really helped me vividly imagine the experience of a bittersweet citrus aperitif like Botivo and fruity, woody and spicy perfume I haven’t yet smelled. I have yet to explore gourmand vetiver perfumes , Vetyver Messager sounds lovely! Greetings from EU

Powerful words! This fragrance doesn’t re-invent vetiver but it repositions it. Not a huge drinker myself so I wasn’t familiar with this aperitif but I can see how this fragrance can feel refreshing but also unique. Vetiver is usually more associated with masculine leaning fragrances but this one can pretty much lean either way on account of the sweet notes that surround it. It’s a vetiver fragrance at the end but in the presence of some great friends to help it shine. I’m located in the USA.

  • Happy_Coco says:

The magnitude of Claude Marchal and Parfums MDCI potential is massive , Nathalie Feisthauer name needs no introduction since she’s one of the best perfumers out . It’s also remarkable that Claude Marchal found the work-life balance. Working with famous perfumers and giving them carte blanche is the solution for originality, his path is based on ambition , creative approach , love for perfumes and positive vibes .
Like everything in real life some components of Parfums MDCI Vetyver Messager are gentle like the sandalwood , some delicious like the orange zest and vanilla on top of some double shot of non-alcoholic aperitif and some classy vetiver. The balance between smooth and sharp , delicious and bold is what I’m looking for the most. Even Oli Marlow is as thrilled as he’s ever been thinking about the beautiful fragrance rhythm that Nathalie Feisthauer created.

  • This sounds very interesting. Big fan of vetiver fragrances. Curious about one that leans gourmand. I am sure that even if I am not lucky enough to win this fragrance, I will be at least sampling this by the end of Spring. I’m located in the US.

  • I find vetyver to be a fascinating note when it’s in its dry, serious, intellectual form. But Oli describing Vetyver Messager as almost a concoction of herbal liquor and grapefruit soda with touches of chocolate and citrus ignites my curiosity even more. A masculine leaning gourmand, fresh from the lavender and carrot oil, yet still sweetened by the more vanillic notes. With the MDCI quality, it must be a guaranteed success.
    Greetings from the EU.

  • I’m most curious to try this because I want to see how pleasing a gourmand take on vetiver would be. Are there any notes left in all of perfumery that have yet to be given an edible spin yet? I find myself often reaching for vetiver experiences on dreary days. I’m in the USA.

  • Scentofme says:

I like that Vetyver Messager smells classically, aromatically French whilst fusing edible facets with woody, resinous base materials.

  • Lovely review by Oli and enough to get a first blind impression about this perfume. Also considering vetiver is a favourite note of mine, plus the fact that Natalie is behind this, the amazing creator of Cow from Zoologist, a lot of creations for Comme de garcons or Puredistance, i’m really intrigued and curious about this one. Thanks for the chance, i’m in the EU.

  • Thank you Oli. It’s an interesting twist to make a vetiver with gourmand leanings and this is what caught my attention. I’ve loved Chypre Palatin from Parfums MDCI and Vetyver Messager sounds lovely. I’m in USA

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

I have read this fragrance is inspired by the African philosophy “I am because we are”. It seems as if this offering is connecting the classic note of vetiver with warm, gourmand notes…convention meets modernity. Oli made a reference that this fragrance is Guerlain-esque in its nod to French perfumery, which is a house I’m very much a fan of. I’m intrigued as to how this concoction progresses top to base. Appreciate Claude Marchal and Parfums MDCI for the giveaway opportunity! Many blessings from Virginia, USA!

  • Trinity33 says:

Vetiver is such a classic fragrance note, it’s always gratifying to find a scent that uses it in a unique and innovative way. The gourmand treatment using notes that approximate a chocolate orange seem to pair well with the grassier aspects of vetiver. I’m not familiar with Botivo but it sounds like Vetyver Messager might be its olfactory kin. USA

  • GoodBookAndTea says:

I gained some experience with niche perfumery thanks to Cafleurebon , i have to say the style of reviews here is on a different level
Claude Marchal, Nathalie Feisthauer and Oli Marlow were able to trick my imagination into thinking of zesty citruses , lovely aperitif, and luxury vetiver where the woody warmth and boldness are perfectly dosed and compounded to alluring sweetness.

“It’s somehow simultaneously savoury and sweet and through its complexity I’m reminded of the taste of Botivo, an alcohol-free bittersweet citrus aperitif I was glugging all throughout January, that’s flavoured with wildflower honey, rosemary, thyme, gentian, wormwood and orange zest..”

By all means YES to what Oli Marlow stated about Parfums MDCI Vetyver Messager , eye-opening and zealous review and one spectacular fragrance.
Warm thanks to NathalieFeisthauer, Oli Marlow ,Cafleurebon and Parfums MDCI EU

  • Captivating reads , no mistake I even read both Oli Marlow and Claude Marchal articles twice in a row , no joke. Not just Vetyver Messager, the whole Parfums MDCI catalog is quite appealing too.
I can’t help but to be impressed how Oli Marlow embraces stylistically different fragrances, but only if they are sophisticated and well made . He’s eager to acquire knowledge and to improve, to become better and better. I can easily tell Oli loves his Cafleurebon work and his hobbies – vetiver, cultural , culinary and fragrance expert at the same time.
I’m exposed to niche perfumery but not yet to Parfums MDCI , and i can’t help but to be impressed how Claude Marchal gave Nathalie Feisthauer a platform to create a very special gourmand fragrance with citruses and non-alcoholic aperitif like Botivo, sandalwood and seductive depth.
Other than wanting to win the contemporary high-end Parfums MDCI fragrance called Vetyver Messager, I’d also love to have a chat with Claude Marchal too , sounds like fun
EU , thank you very much

  • I find impressive how Oli Marlow , the fragrance journalist was able to merge captivating fragrance like Parfums MDCI Vetyver Messager with extra information about the non alcohol liquor like Botivo , Claude Marchal thoughs on the fragrance and some comforting nuances.
Love Chris Martin character and everything he went through all is pointing out to his noble and full of energy way of doing things.
I’m hardly ever super impressed by fruity , boozy or vetiver fragrances alone , but a scent of glamorous spicy and musky vanilla , carrot seeds with lavender spin image of Vetyver Messager grabbed my attention right away. The balanced profile and the vanilla and boozy-fruity wink i very much enjoyed .

As usual there’s no basic information with Cafleurebon and Oli Marlow, the review is multidimensional as well , his picture of Parfums MDCI Vetyver Messager is something I’d like to paint myself.
Yes I read the older Claude Marchal articles and I’m impressed not only with his work in perfumery , but all the great perfumers he chose to work on the brand fragrances including Nathalie Feisthauer and Francis Kurkdjian.
I know niche fragrances and with the brutal competitiveness on the market i need something big to really grab my attention, and Parfums MDCI Vetyver Messager high quality raw materials, mouthwatering gourmand connections, modern vetiver, lavender aroma melding with the musk and vanilla did the trick for me.
Through Vetyver Messager I can book a flight to France and buying some fancy local dessert , whiteout actually being there. You can’t beat that

  • The composition itself feels seamless and rather Guerlain-esque in the way that it smells classically, aromatically French whilst fusing gourmand notions with woody, resinous base materials
    – Oli Marlow

So that’s how a connoisseur sounds when he’s greatly impressed , Parfums MDCI Vetyver Messager had such an impact on Oli he almost went to a gourmand dreamland with beautiful jazz melodies playing , Botivo , lavender and darker vanilla and tonka bean rhythms.
Personally I’m glad smaller niche and indie brands like Parfums MDCI are still implementing more classical , and artisanal approaches , instead of futuristic technology. It has been a pleasure learning about the fragrance being made by by the super talented Nathalie Feisthauer.
I’m a fan of beautiful things, opulent aura, passionate fragrances , creativity , and I’ll be happy to win Vetyver Messager , cozy type of composition.

Stark contrasts , originality and a little bit of everything of what I like I’d describe in short Vetyver Messager. The unique merging of alluring dark and musky vanilla with hedione, carrot seeds and oakmoss and a few glasses of non-alcoholic aperitif are the most appealing sides of the fragrance . I’m expecting a delicious and sophisticated haze that came as a result of Nathalie Feisthauer work , super impressed.

I’m very much picky in terms of boozy and fruity and fragrances , and especially those that combine the two genres.
Oli Marlow assessment of Parfums MDCI Vetyver Messager brought me back to my childhood when both grandma and grandpa were and enjoying making home made Botivo aperitif with , great times I miss a lot.
I became instantly attracted to the comforting semi-gourmand smell of Vetyver Messager together with carefully selected by Nathalie Feisthauer other deeper and darker shades like the musky vanilla and sandalwood . I really like the dance between delicious and daring.
When I buy new niche fragrance the quality should be outstanding, and the with certain level of uniqueness , I’m definitely impressed. Sum total i love the whole Oli Marlow read , the older read with Claude Marchal and I’d also love to win a bottle of Parfums MDCI Vetyver Messager

The looks of the bottle, the whole review and especially the darkly herbal, sugar syrup and posh vetiver sold it for me. The mixture of vanilla , tonka and resins will set it apart. Haven’t been able to smell any of Parfums MDCI fragrances and I am anxiously waiting to try Vetyver Messager!

The senior editor Oli Marlow theme was quite evocative, and in in every sense of the way confirmed my beliefs that I need both love , different aperitifs, passion , comfort , juicy citruses , sophisticated fragrances and to find a way to sample Parfums MDCI .

I haven’t heard of Botivo before, but I’d love to try it , thank you dor the interesting detail.

To me quality niche perfumery is a must, but I like to know the background of the brand , perfumers and particular fragrances, that’s where Michelyn Camen,Editor-in-Chief and Oli Marlow grabbed me with the link to Claude Marchal Creative Director in Perfumery theme.
His quotes in the opening of the current theme were helpful as well.
I haven’t drink ice-cold grapefruit soda in ages but if Vetyver Messager reminded Oli of the treats I’d take delight in testing that theory with buying a bottle and enjoying the taste .

Vetiver is one of the most underrated notes in perfumery but to me is the most incredible complex note, with timeless characteristic multiple facets. A vetiver leaned gourmand sounds certainly special and interesting to experience! What sparks my interest is that it smells classically, aromatically French whilst fusing gourmand notions with woody, resinous base materials and also the description of a combined citrusy opening that smells like a chocolate orange that’s underpinned with the characteristic dryness of the vetiver and a coumarin leaning sweetness present that eventually evolves to a musky vanillic finish. I am very curious to experience how Nathalie Feisthauer reinterprets vetiver in this way! It’s sounds quite contemporary vetiver with its edible personality.

  • Admirations for people like Oli who have high standards, and not just looking for nice smelling , but also for for creative and sophisticated fragrances

《 The composition itself feels seamless and rather Guerlain-esque in the way that it smells classically, aromatically French whilst fusing gourmand notions with woody, resinous base materials.》

Reading the essay made me think of how unique of a vetiver gourmand Vetyver Messager must be if even Oli is so impressed.
Keeping in mind the zealous examination of the latest Parfums MDCI i know Nathalie Feisthauer did a splendid work. Vivid atmosphere of flavored with wildflower honey, rosemary and orange zest Botivo, vanilla and sandalwood, all stepping on foundation of depth and complexity, Parfums MDCI Vetyver Messager is elaborate fragrance i’d really like to win.

What I like most is how this review shows vetiver in a new light. The mix of citrus, chocolate orange, and woods sounds refined and a mix that I think would go great on my skin, especially since I LOVE chocolate bars with orange. I appreciate the idea of a masculine gourmand that keeps French elegance while giving vetiver warmth, sweetness, and depth. I live in New Jersey, USA

  • Claude Marchal life quotes really paints a picture of his intricate character . What really grabbed me is his extensive journey , all he went through and his state of felicity as a kid in Egypt, and how he went through corporate executive to and well respected niche house owner creating all original experiences and fragrances.
I’m keen on the whole Parfums MDCI Vetyver Messager package and Oli’s description in a way related to non-alcoholic aperitif like Botivo, and to a playful night out experiences.
Dark musky essence and herbs , delicious ambery sensuality , feel of smooth happiness with musk ambroxan , and depending on Oli Marlow ecstatic experience with the fragrance I’m aware Vetyver Messager is a very special delicious fragrance with lots of depth, and unique woody and herbal character based on all original nuances Nathalie Feisthauer was able to capture.

The idea of adding carrot seed accord and different woody notes to a gourmand composition adds another layer of enjoyment to the whole ballgame.
I can emphasize to the Oli Marlow words of stating that Vetyver Messager is a pointedly confident gourmand that does reposition the concept of vetiver.
The fragrance was crafted from Claude Marchal and Nathalie Feisthauer passionate belief in creativity and originality. The new Parfums MDCI fragrance is based on a multiple gourmand hints , citruses , rosemary and thyme , sandalwood and vetiver , smooth and alluring fragrance with complex ,deep and resinous drydown .

Thank you for introducing me to Parfums MDCI , thanks to Oli Marlow and Claude Marchal Creative Director in Perfumery article multiple fragrances are in my to-try-list now, not just Vetyver Messager . The fact that the senior editor , liquor and vetiver expert Oli Marlow said the fragrance in the base evolves to a musky vanillic finish sounds fantastic. Such a lovely way to celebrate Vetyver Messager , as well as Claude Marchal path as a business owner , love his contemporary approach to perfumery while keeping Parfums MDCI fragrances classy.
I found Oli Marlow introduction to Vetyver Messager intriguing, highlighting the originality of the composition and how realistic it is. The scent profile is blend of appreciation for expensive aperitif , exotic spices and herbs , bergamot , vanilla and sandalwood , everything smoothen up to perfection by Nathalie Feisthauer in a tempting way.
Parfums MDCI seems to have a lot of variety in what they offer , Vetyver Messager is a nice way to start exploring.

I believe it’s easy to say Olin enjoyed exploring Vetyver Messager from Parfums MDCI way more than usual.
The idea of adding big dose of grapefruit and bergamot and tonka bean to jasmine like hedione , non-alcoholic aperitif with orange zest to sandalwood , and then again to musky vanilla with a resinous base , only comes to show the creative part of Claude Marchal and Nathalie Feisthauer characters.
Powerful and novelty fragrance with lots of twists , boozy , sweet and fruity , then comes the spices and the herbs , such a beautiful creation , no wonder Oli thinks Vetyver Messager is rooty , alluring and edible at the same time.

Thanks for the graceful review of one enchanting fragrance ! Parfums MDCI Vetyver Messager feels like a delicious fruity , woody and herbal veil floating through the air — Botivo and lavender open in magnificent cloud, then vanilla and Australian sandalwood deepen into a warm embrace while just a hints of musk and woody darkness gives it subtle mystery. I love how the gourmand brightness stays bold , but never over-the-top, and how the base keeps it grounded while still elegant. I’d love to try Parfums MDCI Vetyver Messager! EU-Cheers

  • ElGallina says:

What stood out to me most is the idea of vetiver being shown in a softer, more inviting light. I usually think of vetiver as dry, elegant, and serious, so reading about it with a sweet, almost edible side made me curious right away. The chocolate orange description was especially good, and I liked that the sweetness seems balanced by herbs, citrus, and that earthy root underneath.

I also appreciated the way Oli described the finish, musky, vanillic, and warm, because that sounds comforting without losing sophistication. It feels like a fragrance with polish, but also one that could be easy to wear and enjoy in everyday life.

    I reside in the USA.

  • Oli had me at “Guerlain-esque” and then really got me with that whole chocolate orange over dry vetiver idea. That contrast sounds killer, because it is not just another grassy, stern vetiver, it sounds like Nathalie Feisthauer actually gave it texture and appetite without losing the root’s backbone. The Botivo comparison was also great writing, that fresh lime, sugar syrup, ice cold grapefruit soda, and dark herbal liqueur image made the opening feel vivid without making it sound gimmicky.

What sparks my interest most is that it seems to reposition vetiver instead of just repeating the usual template. The mix of lavender, carrot seed, oakmoss, ambroxan, and that coumarin sweetness turning musky and vanillic sounds exactly like the kind of masculine-leaning gourmand I want to smell, something refined, grown, and still interesting enough to study on skin.

    I live in the USA.

The scent is absolutely unapologetic ode to the person who can distinguish and appreciate novelty woody fragrances and high-quality sweetness and desserts not necessarily going into syrupy territory , how I’d describe the fragrance after reading Oli Marlow evaluation. Beautiful parfum that celebrates basic desires without any rules or shame , while the notes like wildflower honey, rosemary and thyme are telling you an unforgettable story.

Vetyver Messager is special fragrance for Claude Marchal now only because it’s the first vetiver in Parfums MDCI line, but because he made the scent with perfumer Nathalie Feisthauer , like a union between his brand legacy and his own love for new emotions and pleasures all echoing in the making of the fragrance .
For Oli , Vetyver Messager base is darker with vanilla and sandalwood soaked in muskiness with presence of carrot seed and lavender. Decadent, rich and balanced, Vetyver Messager deserves all the praises by Oli Marlow based on its quality, comfort, performance and raw materials.Fantastic EU

Nathalie Feisthauer made fragrance is letting its fruity , musky and sweet vanilla fun side shine bright with different aperitif facets that thicken up the feel of Botivo cocktail made by an experienced bartender. The carrot seed is adding an unique undertone to this modern vetiver blend.

True to the symbolism of its namesake , this unisex fragrance i believe evokes passion and warmth through a decadent orange-hued herbal Botivo liquor, , sweet and woody structure that leans both playful and sophisticated.

I like the more thoughtful overall experience I just had. I learned about Parfums MDCI Vetyver Messager distinct and complex scent , starting “rather Guerlain-esque” , and going forward with enticing aromas like Botivo and grapefruit soda.
[Even though the perfume’s focus might seem to be playing more with those middle range frequencies of lavender, carrot seed, vetiver, ambroxan and oakmoss, there’s this constant coumarin leaning sweetness present that eventually evolves to a musky vanillic finish.]
I’m all for being involved in this
My personal final flourish is the harmony Nathalie Feisthauer was able to achieve between between tasty , woody and seductive elements.
I am a gourmand and sophisticated scent profiles lover and Parfums MDCI Vetyver Messager appeals to me greatly.

Vetyver Messager from Parfums MDCI sounds great, I’m fascinated by the love affair between the delicious but not childish tonka bean and vanilla sweetness and grapefruit from one angle, and the more daring vetiver and playful musk on another. Oli Marlow pointed out that the fragrance smells earthy, alluring and edible , there’s a theory that opposites attract and Nathalie Feisthauer work is the evidence.
The intricate layering of palatable , earthy and edgy , maybe even playful notes , plus the beautiful melody with i imagine jazz rhythm narrative do make Vetyver Messager enchanting and multifaceted.

Personally I’ve never tried Botivo or smelled vetiver based gourmand with musky vanilla and resinous accords , carrot seed and cardamom , kudos to Claude Marchal and Nathalie Feisthauer for the idea. A famous perfumer for a reason, what differentiates her from a lot of other even more accomplished perfumers is that she’s focusing on the whole package, and not just on one or two aspects as well as having an inner desire to create unforgettable and original fragrances.

Vetyver Messager is contemporary, photorealistic fragrance that speaks in a language of liquor and gourmand enthusiasts, mouthwatering at the start, cozy at the heart, resinous, vanillic and even musky at the end, all adding to the alluring aroma in a nice way. Wow Such a powerful and inviting message. I’m about to buy Botivo aperitif tomorrow what it’s like, and I’ll try to find a boutique that carries Parfums MDCI. Lovely opportunity. From the EU

  • It seems very difficult to recreate the wheel with green vetiver fragrances, when there are so many great ones out there already, but when a “men’s collection was missing a vetiver” it’s time to try anyway. The savory-sweet spiced orange opening sound wonderful; the carrot-seed oil is inspired. Interesting how Feisthauer took this in a gourmand direction, allowing the vetiver to shine, but not all that much brighter than the other elements here. Love to try this.

    I’m in WI, USA.

  • With the time change as well as the sprouts in season the vetiver shrub has emerged again. Earthy in its natural essence but with multiple garden staples added in this sounds classical but reserved. A new perspective bringing in the clock change with a better outlook to settle into.
