Dancing With Light is the third and final fragrance in Neil Morris Fragrances’ series “In Love With Light”, aka The Radiance series. This series is special to me; I also wrote about Shimmering and Suspended In Glass.

I had been wearing Dancing With Light for about an hour before I realized this was special. I’d sprayed it and carried on with my morning, expecting a lovely white floral. It was certainly that, but somewhere between the first glint of citrus and the moment the scent warmed against my skin, my thoughts grew quieter. The citrus is fresh with a natural brightness, like the scent released when an orange peel is bent between the fingers. Orange blossom slips easily into magnolia and jasmine, and soon I can’t find a clear division between them. The magnolia has body, the jasmine has warmth, and lily of the valley sends a cool green thread through the arrangement. The notes overlap, change places, and pick up different shades as I move. At times, the florals smell almost sunlit. A few minutes later, something deeper passes through them. That darker floral touch is difficult to pin down. I’d rather not know exactly what it is. It gives the perfume a private side, a little sadness behind the smile. Without it, all those white petals might feel too pristine. Instead, they feel alive.

I began thinking about the way light enters our lives. Sometimes I may have imagined spiritual moments would be unmistakable. Surely there would be some powerful sign, or a feeling so extraordinary that I could never question it. Age and experience have taught me otherwise. The moments that transformed me most were often very small. None of it l seemed miraculous from the outside, yet I knew I had been met by something beyond chance. Dancing With Light brought those memories back to me.

As I sat with the fragrance, the flowers and citrus seemed to hover over transparent woods and skin musk. It is smooth, pale, and close to the body. The musk rounds the composition without making it smell scrubbed or overly soapy. Even after several hours, a trace of orange blossom continues to move through the woods, with magnolia and jasmine appearing whenever warmth returns to my skin. I found myself smelling my wrist often, but not to study the development. I wanted to return to the feeling it gave me. Calm would be too simple a word. What I felt was recognition.

There are periods when I become so occupied that I fail to notice all that is good. I can make a home inside my own concerns and forget there is a whole world beyond them. I find myself now reminded of the warmth already present in my life. People who care whether I arrive home safely. Beauty that continues to exist whether I’m paying attention or not. That realization felt spiritual to me because it asked for nothing. I didn’t have to become wiser, or more deserving before I could receive it. I only had to notice.

Neil Morris has given Dancing With Light an open quality that suits its name. Even with its floral richness, it never feels dense. Air moves through it. So does shadow. The darker blossom belongs among the white flowers, just as heartache belongs within a life that still contains happiness. One doesn’t cancel the other.

Maybe that is why Dancing With Light feels hopeful without seeming innocent. It understands that most of us have walked through things that changed us. We don’t come into the light untouched. We bring our losses, fears, and unanswered questions. We also bring every bit of love we have given and received. All of it travels with us.

Neil Morris Fragrances Dancing With Light becomes a close veil of flowers as it settles, sheer wood and musk. Some experiences aren’t meant for everyone around us. They are ours alone, arriving when we are ready to recall them. The light didn’t arrive. We simply noticed it. Dancing With Light made me consider that the sacred is already present in my life, hidden among the ordinary there is extraordinary. Wearing it felt like opening my eyes. Nothing around me had changed, but I had.

Notes include: orange flower, orange blossom, magnolia, aldehydes,  jasmine, lily of the valley, datura, Clearwood, ambergris, Habanolide (soft musk)

  • Neil is a wonder. I’ve never smelled one of his creations I didn’t like, a few treasured ones I love. I appreciate the lovely flowers jasmine, orange blossom and magnolia darkened by musk, elusive and at the same time returning to remind one of past and unforgettable days. I’m in California.

  • Dearest Michelyn & Sandi, thank you from the bottom of my heart for this beautiful article about my Dancing With Light! Sandi, you got it. Your comment: “My thoughts grew quieter.”
That is an extraordinary response to a perfume.
And Michelyn, you are the miracle that gives a voice to Independent Niche perfumers and we are so grateful for you. Much Love!

  • This sounds interesting with the orange flower and magnolia. I’d love to try this. I live in Pennsylvania USA

  • Sandi’s description of how her thoughts grew quieter while wearing Dancing With Light really stayed with me. I’m going through a time of change right now, and her message that heartache and happiness can exist in the same life—and that sometimes the light hasn’t disappeared, we’ve simply stopped noticing it—was something I needed to read. The fragrance itself sounds beautiful too. I love bright citrus and orange blossom, and the way they float over magnolia, jasmine, transparent woods, and soft skin musk sounds airy, peaceful, and quietly hopeful. I’d love to experience the feeling that kept drawing Sandi back to her wrist. I live in Oregon, USA. Thanks for the beautiful review and giveaway!

  • Neil Morris’s creation of Dancing With Light continues his remarkable exploration of ethereal, luminous themes with such grace. What stands out to me is how the review captures his unique ability to translate intangible moments of clarity and radiant energy into a wearable composition, balancing transparent brightness with a deeply personal, skin-close warmth. It’s a wonderful testament to his artistry as a master of atmospheric storytelling. I’m in Texas USA

hat resonated most in Sandi’s deeply contemplative review is the observation that her thoughts grew quieter as the fragrance warmed on her skin, framing scent not as a loud statement but as a quiet moment of recognition. The way Neil Morris weaves a cool green thread of lily of the valley through sunlit orange blossom, body-rich magnolia, and jasmine, while leaving shadow in the form of a darker, elusive floral nuance, sounds like a masterclass in translucent shading. The image of those white petals hovering over Clearwood and a soft skin musk feels like dawn light filtering through quiet air, capturing a sense of calm that earns its subtle emotional weight rather than forcing it. I loved Sandi’s earlier pieces on Shimmering and Suspended in Glass, and Dancing With Light sounds like a fittingly luminous conclusion to the Radiance series. I’d love to experience how it unfolds on skin. Cheers from WI, USA

  • Dancing through Light is a white floral that channels transformation, growth and evolving, and how that experience shapes us. It hints at intimacy and liveliness. From its opening of bright, fresh citrus notes, orange blossom, magnolia bringing depth, jasmine warmth, lily of the valley, a cool, crisp and green essence, that blend together making a dynamic and kinetic composition that feels airy, weightless and vibrant, with an element of darkness—the duality of light and shadow, representing that balance.

Thank you for such a lovely reflection! It is always so rewarding to hear when a fragrance continues to unfold and surprise you throughout the day. Sandy truly conveyed the seamless floral evolution beautifully!

Dancing With Light sounds beautiful. Citrusy, orange blossom, white florals, woods, musk, etc. What’s not to love? These are some of my favorite notes in a fragrance. I’d love to own this fragrance, and it would be a great way to discover a fragrance house I haven’t had the privilege of trying out.

  • Ramses Perez says:

Dancing With Light is exactly what the name tells: an airy and light fragrance with presence. When you dance, there is movement and action. This is not a beast mode fragrance but the charm lies in the calmness. The florals with the musk and aldehydes give the calm, clean and softness that surround you. This is a house I wasn’t too familiar with but each fragrance tells a story of their own. This is what artistry is. I’m located in the USA.

  • In a world where everyone wants their fragrances to define something special or specific, or to put them in a mood, or to transform who they are… what an intriguing idea that you can have a perfume that lets you exist in the exact moment you’re in, as yourself (or maybe as nothing?)….. (in PacNW USA)

  • I very much enjoy fragrances with a story, much like the Replica line. This line is a series of 3…the Radiance series. Dancing with Light seems to be a beautiful floral musk. I’d love to smell this soon after it drops.

    I live in Texas, USA.

  • For the description…”It gives the perfume a private side, a little sadness behind the smile.”, intrigues me to have this for an introspective day. Great review.

  • I was a just realizing that through all the bad that’s happening in the world, I have forgotten to be thankful. There is always something to be thankful for. I’m thankful that my husband who never used to prefer any kind of fragrance has discovered that he loves white flowers with citrus. I’m thankful for a chance to own this one. I’m in the US.

  • What sparks my interest most in Sandi’s review is how she frames Dancing With Light as a quiet, lived-in spirituality that turns an ordinary morning into a moment of recognition. I’m drawn to her idea of a perfume with a private side, “a little sadness behind the smile,” and to her feeling that wearing it was like opening her eyes to the warmth already present in her life. That promise of a subtle inner shift, where nothing around you changes but you do, is exactly what makes me want to try it.

  • Dancing with Light sounds like a joyous fragrance; a transparent citrus infused floral that has a buoyant quality reflecting light and hope. The musk, woods and ambergris provide a grounding base for the ethereal magnolia, orange blossom and jasmine. I had the opportunity to try Neil Morris’s Shimmering from this series and it is a masterpiece in optimism. USA

  • Ooh this sounds just gorgeous!! Elegant and lovely. I love a white floral with ambergris and I’m happy to see one again. Yes!! I am in the us. Thank you for the generous giveaway

  • Neil’s creations are pure magic, and each one is a treasure. This one though is especially close to my heart, my soul as well.
I am going through a period of serious health issues that seem to be piling up, and Dancing with Light has been a talisman to me in a time of serious need.
The way Sandi describes it is so perfect, so exact.
It is a hopeful fragrance, but there is some darkness in there as well. You just know that you will be able to make it through that darkness and back into the light again.
The shadows remain, you are just able to see things from a different perspective and all is bright and light filled again.
White flowers, especially datura, so magical.
This scent is absolutely amazing, and again Brava Sandi!

I felt a sense of calmness after reading Sandi’s review. I have always thought about light and I am interested when people, artists especially, talk about how light is different in say, Tuscany vs Cape Cod. I own a few fragrances by Neil Morris and I am always amazed at the way he captures a sense of place. Here, with Dancing in the Light, light becomes a safe place through the orange blossom and magnolia. I think everyone needs this fragrance in times like these.
    I live in the USA.

  • Marques M Burgess says:

I’m drawn to this review because it goes beyond simply describing a fragrance and connects scent to those quiet, personal moments that can change your perspective. I love the idea of a white floral that carries both light and shadow, beauty and sadness. The spiritual reflection makes Dancing With Light feel less like a perfume review and more like an emotional experience.
I live in New Jersey, USA

  • What sparks my interest most in Sandi’s review is her portrayal of how a sheer, skin-bound perfume can spark profound internal reflection, balancing an airy, sunlit lightness with a shadowy, mysterious depth. Beyond the physical scent itself, her description captures the quiet power of a fragrance that stays intimate and close to the body, chosen not to make a loud statement to the outside world, but to serve as a private reminder that extraordinary light and beauty are already present within our everyday lives.

I reside in Arizona, United States.

  • I was going to put my name in for this giveaway but the article sounds like it was written by AI or AI assisted, the cadence of it sounds strongly like the way AI writes, and with the inclusion of AI images it just sort of turned me off the fragrance and this article.

I really hope I’m wrong though, I’d be really sad to see Cafleurbon using AI.

  • This sound ethereal. I love reading Neil’s comments to this article. I love the paragraph about being so wrapped up in ones concerns that one fails to notice all that is good. Great reminder to slow down and enjoy the ride. This fragrance sounds like a journey. Thanks for the chance. USA.
