Fioriture, Laboratorio Olfattivo’s new collection with the ‘Parfumeur Jardinier’, Jean-Claude Ellena is a trio of new floral perfumes that renews his olfactive and personal connection with Italy. The Fioriture collection explores and captures the olfactory beauty of the rich culture, land and light, and the olfactive experience of nature’s lush gardens, with the perfumes capturing the floral scents. Jean-Claude Ellena’s “paints them” allowing the experience of their beauty to shine. Each of the perfumes rose: (Rose me Twice), carnation (In_Carnation) and jasmine (Jasminade) are deeply rooted in perfumery’s tradition, with Jean-Claude Ellena bringing them into our contemporary world. Editor Ermano Picco was at Diffusioni Olfattive in Turin and met with Jean-Claude Ellena. In_Carnation lives forever in his memory of the event.

Laboratorio Olfattivo Jasminade is Jean-Claude Ellena’s ode to the jasmine flower, from dawn to dusk. It’s his olfactory headspace not just of a moment, but also time; its complexities blossom throughout the wear. Jasminade is a jasmine for lovers of this sumptuous floral.

 J’s jasmine

Tropical aromas glide over your skin as Jasminade blooms. It feels crisp, like biting into an apple, that green watery freshness with a hint of sweetness. You can feel the jasmine flowers sparkle moving on a cool breeze, light and airy, both sensual and soothing. I get a subtle burst of its heady allure for a moment, a wild animal lurking  behind the petals. Before Jasminade returns to its smoother easy feel, it feels like washes of watercolour are sketching out the shapes of the flowers, lighter colours and aromas are used almost like a jasmine CO2 extraction with a deft use of benzyl salicylate to highlight the tropical fruitiness before the light fades as the golden hour grows near.

Slowly more of Jasminade’s heady white floral scents are revealed. Soft clove-like spices bring warmth to the coolness of the opening. Jasminade’s petals glow as the intoxicating scent from the tiny flowers is released. Darker, more intense colours are washed over the opening’s lighter shades before Jean-Claude Ellena switches it up bringing in verdant tone and  jasmine plant’s vines and leaves appear. Cool greens lean into minty freshness with a gentle evening chill. It gives Laboratorio Olfattivo Jasminade a wild feel as the vines and leaves take over, shielding the delicate petals. It’s a beautiful moment to experience, as if Jean-Claude Ellena pulls our focus back from just the flower to the whole experience of the plant and lush garden in which it grows. Subtle gardenia facets linger at the edges, waxy textures bring a sensual feel to Jasminade, as the opening’s jasmine petals start to release their heady fragrance. This waxiness reminds me of the traditional enfleurage techniques used to extract the flowers scent. Soft balsamic kisses join the clove adding shimmer to the spices; it’s all done deftly, ensuring that the jasmine flower is the star. The use of cool and warm tones is a brilliant touch, revealing all of jasmine’s facets to us in Jasminade. Orange blossom is also cleverly used to give the jasmine more body with its velvety musky texture adding shading to this beautiful composition.

Jasminade’s final dry down lingers like the scent of jasmine in the evening air. Musks purr and wrap you in voluptuous silks. Jasminade’s indolic facets hum with warm cinnamic spices paired with faint embers of clove,  so that you remember the feel of the sun’s warmth on skin as the moon lights the sky.  Clove teases out a gentle darkness allowing the heady delicate petals of the jasmine to feel luminous. Jasminade has a very elegant and commanding feel, confident and flowing with ease, like layers of silks moving with a breeze. Faint memories of tropical fruits merge with the steam of tea leaves revealing more subtle complexities within a seemingly simple composition. Jean-Claude Ellena again adds more roundness and depth filling in the spaces giving us another exploration of jasmine revealing all its textures. The classic combination of orange blossom and white musks provide a transparent structure for Jasminade’s flowers to shine on. It makes you want to draw closer, feeling like an embrace that doesn’t let you go. Jasminade is stunning ode to jasmine’s brilliant facets and Jean-Claude Ellena captures its magic from dusk to dawn.

Notes: Jasmine Grandiflorum, Orange Blossom, White Musk.

  • Oh wow all of these three would be right up my alley! I’m super excited there is a carnation one!!! This sounds absolutely glorious though! JC Ellena is masterful at bringing only what is needed and nothing more, to me he is a master watercolorist of perfume. Exact, clarifying, light but focused, sheer but defined, emotional but elegant. I love his work. All three of these are must tries for me now!

There is something undeniably intoxicating about a Jean-Claude Ellena creation. Turning his minimalist mastery toward a note as deeply evocative as jasmine is full of promise. For me, the heady aroma of jasmine blooming under a night sky will always carry the thrill of an untold adventure and pure seduction. Jasminade sounds like a breathtaking journey on the skin, blending timeless romance with an elegant, modern twist.

Perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena’s deep connection to Italy and its culture and flora is the inspiration for Laboratorio Olfattivo’s Jasminade which explores the versatility of jasmine and all its aspects: from airer, fresh greens to warmer, more carnal tones, the lush floral note is enhanced by a balmy orange blossom and anchored by light and subtle white musks in the base to create something that radiates a sunny air that feels coastal, delicate and quite intimate on the skin.

  • I love Jasmine and Jean- Claude Ellena is my favorite perfumer. What an intriguing way of describing Jasminade. “Cool greens lean into minty freshness and you experience the whole garden.”

  • The image of the woman with jasmine petals down her spine is quite alluring. J’s description of the fragrance draws me in to the complexity of Jasminade, beyond what would otherwise read as a “simple” fragrance based on the restraint of its notes composition.
The interplay of cool notes, spice, waxy, heady florals and lush, green plants sounds delectable, and a perfect way to unwind on upcoming warm, summer evenings.

  • Thank you for the article and giveaway. I love to wear floral fragrances in spring and summer, and only then. First I must day that I am a fan of the brand, I really like the citruses of Laboratorio Olfattivo. I like the description of the evolution of the scent: from crisp and green, to waxy, heady and indolic. That sounds so complex. Thanks again for the article, I live in the EU

Unlike the classic jasmine Grandiflorum (which has cooler and greener accents), the variety chosen by Ellena offers a much warmer, creamier and brighter texture. I love this jasmine in perfume, it is feminine, mysterious and pure at the same time! I am from EU

  • The watercolor-like transitions in the review feel very Jean-Claude Ellena to me — airy, luminous, and nuanced rather than dense or heavy. I especially love the contrast between cool green freshness, tea-like facets, and the warmer clove and musky tones. This sounds like a beautiful modern jasmine. The carnation one sounds amazing too – I’d love to see more modern carnation perfumes in general. I’m in New York, USA.

  • I’m a huge fan of Jean-Claude Ellena’s fragrances. I can’t wait to try his trio of new floral perfumes, especially the Carnation fragrance. Thanks for another wonderful review and draw. MI USA

A new jasmine fragrance by Jean-Claude Ellena—I absolutely must have it! Ellena created the most beautiful jasmine I know, the magnificent Jasmin de Pays for the Perris Monte Carlo brand; it’s the perfect jasmine fragrance. Has Ellena pushed the boundaries again and managed to surpass the perfection of Jasmin de Pays? I’m truly intrigued… I love this passage: “It’s a beautiful moment to experience, as if Jean-Claude Ellena pulls our focus back from just the flower to the whole experience of the plant and lush garden in which it grows.” Because what I love most of all are photorealistic flower fragrances. • Ramses Perez says:

A pretty straight forward and simple fragrance but its goal is achieved by showcasing jasmine in all its grandeur. Jean Claude Ellena set out to present jasmine in all its glory and looks like he achieved it by creating a jasmine fragrance for the jasmine lovers. Thanks to J’s review we also get a glimpse at some tropical touches present here to aid the jasmine shine. I’m not mad as I love fruity and tropical scents and this one sounds like a jasmine do die for. I’m located in the USA.

  • Thanks for another great giveaway!

J’s review relates this fragrance not as a statement, but as something quiet and breathing. So many jasmine fragrances feel like they’re trying to announce themselves, but this sounds lighter and more transparent.

When I popped over to the website, I learned that 8000 hand-harvested flowers yield only 1 or 2 grams of jasmine essence and that stopped me in my tracks! Imagine the patience required for a single spritz…

Jasminade sounds like a wonderful take on jasmine, which I appreciate.

This would be a fantastic addition to my collection.

  • AromaAdventurer says:

J’s review of Jasminade is a masterclass in describing scent as art. What sparks my interest most is his framing of Jean-Claude Ellena’s approach as “painting” the flowers, using “washes of watercolour to sketch out the shapes of the flowers, lighter colours and aromas” before moving into “darker, more intense colours” as the fragrance evolves. The idea of experiencing jasmine “from dawn to dusk” rather than just a single moment is beautiful. I love how J describes the opening as “crisp, like biting into an apple, that green watery freshness with a hint of sweetness,” then a “subtle burst of its heady allure for a moment, a wild animal lurking behind the petals,” before it returns to “smoother easy feel.” That tension between the wild and the tame, the cool and the warm, is exactly what makes jasmine such a fascinating flower. The moment when “the jasmine plant’s vines and leaves appear” and “take over, shielding the delicate petals” giving “a wild feel” is so evocative. I am a registered reader in Germany and would be honoured to win Jasminade.

  • Lastochka says:

As someone who often finds jasmine fragrances either too indolic or too simple, J’s review of Jasminade gives me hope for a perfectly balanced interpretation. What sparks my interest is how Jean-Claude Ellena, known for his minimalist, transparent style, approaches this “sumptuous floral.” J describes the composition as having “very elegant and commanding feel, confident and flowing with ease, like layers of silks moving with a breeze.” The note list is deceptively simple jasmine grandiflorum, orange blossom, white musk but J reveals the complexity within: “soft clove-like spices bring warmth,” “gardenia facets linger at the edges, waxy textures bring a sensual feel,” “faint memories of tropical fruits merge with the steam of tea leaves.” The “classic combination of orange blossom and white musks provide a transparent structure for Jasminade’s flowers to shine on.” This sounds like Ellena’s genius: creating something that feels effortless and luminous but reveals hidden depths with each wear.

  • FragranceFrenzyS says:

J’s description of Jasminade capturing “the whole experience of the plant and lush garden in which it grows” rather than just the isolated flower is what sparks my interest most. The moment when “cool greens lean into minty freshness with a gentle evening chill” and “the vines and leaves take over, shielding the delicate petals” sounds like being transported to a jasmine garden at dusk. The reference to traditional enfleurage techniques “waxiness reminds me of the traditional extraction methods used to capture the flower’s scent” adds such a beautiful artisanal layer. J’s image of the final dry down where “musks purr and wrap you in voluptuous silks” and “Jasminade’s indolic facets hum with warm cinnamic spices paired with faint embers of clove, so that you remember the feel of the sun’s warmth on skin as the moon lights the sky” is pure poetry. A jasmine that captures both the heat of the day and the cool of the evening, the sun and the moon, sounds like a complete sensory experience.

  • As a longtime admirer of Jean-Claude Ellena’s work, particularly his ability to create fragrances of seemingly simple construction that reveal extraordinary complexity, J’s review of Jasminade confirms that he has done it again. What sparks my interest is how J describes Ellena’s approach to this Fioriture collection as “deeply rooted in perfumery’s tradition” yet “brought into our contemporary world.” The use of “benzyl salicylate to highlight the tropical fruitiness” and the “deft use of cool and warm tones” to “reveal all of jasmine’s facets” shows the technical mastery behind the artistry. J’s observation that “Jasminade has a very elegant and commanding feel, confident and flowing with ease, like layers of silks moving with a breeze” and that “it makes you want to draw closer, feeling like an embrace that doesn’t let you go” suggests a fragrance of rare sophistication. The fact that Ermano Picco was at Diffusioni Olfattive in Turin and met Ellena, and that In_Carnation “lives forever in his memory,” makes me want to experience this entire collection. EU

  • LindenNoir says:

What sparks my interest most is J’s framing of Jasminade as capturing jasmine “from dawn to dusk” rather than just a single frozen moment. The evolution he describes is so vivid: the opening with “tropical aromas gliding over your skin” and “crisp, like biting into an apple, that green watery freshness with a hint of sweetness” sounds like morning dew on petals. Then as the day progresses, “soft clove-like spices bring warmth to the coolness of the opening” and “darker, more intense colours are washed over the opening’s lighter shades.” The arrival of evening brings “cool greens leaning into minty freshness with a gentle chill” as “the vines and leaves take over, shielding the delicate petals.” And finally, the dry down where “musks purr and wrap you in voluptuous silks” and “indolic facets hum with warm cinnamic spices paired with faint embers of clove, so that you remember the feel of the sun’s warmth on skin as the moon lights the sky.” A perfume that tells the story of an entire day from sunrise to moonlight sounds like wearing poetry.

  • Nuvare Aenra says:

J’s attention to texture in this review is what I find most compelling. He doesn’t just describe notes; he describes how the perfume feels. The opening has “green watery freshness.” The jasmine has “sparkle” and moves on “a cool breeze, light and airy.” There’s “a wild animal lurking behind the petals” before it returns to “smoother easy feel.” He mentions “waxy textures bringing a sensual feel” that reminds him of “traditional enfleurage techniques.” The orange blossom adds “velvety musky texture adding shading.” In the dry down, “musks purr and wrap you in voluptuous silks” and the fragrance feels “confident and flowing with ease, like layers of silks moving with a breeze.” Finally, “it makes you want to draw closer, feeling like an embrace that doesn’t let you go.” A perfume that can shift from crisp and watery to waxy and sensual to silky and embracing sounds like a symphony of tactile experiences. That kind of textural complexity is exactly what I look for in a fragrance. I am from the EU.

The description of Jasminade as a jasmine journey from dawn to dusk really captured my imagination. The contrast between the fresh green opening, the subtle clove warmth, and the silky musky drydown sounds absolutely beautiful. I’m in Romania, EU.

  • Jasminade sounds like the kind of fragrance that makes you stop and savor every stage of its evolution. I love the idea of jasmine shifting from airy and sparkling to rich, sensual, and wrapped in soft musks. The watercolor imagery throughout the review made the perfume feel incredibly vivid and artistic. As a jasmine lover, this is one I am very eager to discover. From EU

  • Reading J’s review transports me into the heart of an Italian garden, experiencing the jasmine firsthand as it shifts through the hours. I can almost feel the crisp, airy coolness of dawn breaking over the petals, before the scent deepens, revealing a shadowy, indolic mystery lurking just beneath the surface. Walking further into the narrative, the experience expands beyond just the blossom to the entire living plant, pulling me in with the scent of verdant vines and a rich, waxy texture that feels like ancient enfleurage come to life.

I reside in the United States.

  • flyingfox says:

I love jasmine and I love perfumes with a two faced nature. Based on J’s review it feels like this fragrance is built around contradictions, cold and warm, light and dark. That, and the mintiness of the opening really make me want to try this, and hopefully own a full bottle of it too.

    I live in the EU.

  • kellyatwood says:

I love the idea of featuring the entire jasmine plant, not just the petals. Jasmine is my absolute favorite floral note, this sounds divine!

  • I am very intrigued by JC Ellena’s jasmine interpretation exploring it from dawn to dusk, also the combination of jasmine with orange blossom and white musk drives my interest, I am sure I would love this perfume.

The way the entire style is presented just screams another Jean- Claude Ellena diaphanous masterpiece. Only three notes listed, and they say the new trend is maximalism!

  • I’m excited to hear that J.-C. Ellena has created new perfume! And jasmin as a main theme of perfume attracts me even more. Would be really interesting to feel it’s dichotomy of fresh, green facets and animalistic heart.

  • Jean Claude Ellena has designed most of my favorite scents, and to learn that a jasmine has just happened is exciting! The treatment of the flower here with the coolness and ‘watercolor’ feel that he is so good at, really make this sound like something I must try. If anyone can handle a complicated, sometimes aggressive floral like jasmine with tact and lightness, it’s Ellena. I live in the US.

I hadn’t heard of this fragrance until the other day watching a YouTube review. I adore clove. Sounds interesting how it plays with the jasmine. My jasmine in the backyard is just coming into bloom and I’d forgotten how much I love that scent. Thanks for showcasing this beauty. USA.

  • Ensorceler says:

J’s review sparked my interest in how he captures jasmine as a living, shifting scene rather than just a single note, the transition from crisp, watery freshness into something warmer, indolic, and softly spiced feels like watching light move through a garden. I’m especially drawn to that tension between airy elegance and a subtle wildness beneath the petals, and the moment where the focus expands from the flower to the full plant and its surroundings. It turns the scent into an experience rather than just a smell, and that musky, clove-tinged drydown lingering like warm evening air feels deeply personal, like a memory in the making.

  • This new trio of garden/flower-inspired perfumes from the tireless master Mr. Elena, rooted in tradition, is a testament to his talent. Jasmine has already been the foundation of other creations of his, such as Jasmin De Pays and others I can’t recall at the moment. Jasminade is an ode to this sumptuous flower, so it’s made for jasmine addicts. Various nuances of this flower (jasmine CO2 extraction) unfold throughout the day, from dawn to dusk, accompanied by the classic combination of orange blossom and white musks to showcase all the facets of one of the queens of perfumery. • The name Jasminade immediately makes me think of the word promenade and a leisurely evening walk surrounded by blooming jasmine. What intrigues me most from this review is the sparkling quality of the jasmine profile. As a jasmine lover, I’m always drawn to the brighter, more luminous facets of the flower.

I actually discovered this blog while searching for information about indoles after wearing Joy, which is famously jasmine-rich. Unfortunately, Joy smelled quite rank on my skin, so I hope Jasminade does not feature indole too prominently and instead highlights the radiant side of jasmine.

Thank you for another beautiful review. One of the things I enjoy most about this blog is how eloquent both the writers and readers are when describing fragrance. I live in California, USA.

  • wallygator88 says:

What sparks my interest most about J’s review is the moment where he describes Ellena pulling focus back from just the flower to the whole experience of the plant and the lush garden in which it grows, the vines and leaves taking over, shielding the delicate petals, cool greens leaning into minty freshness with a gentle evening chill. That widening of the lens from bloom to habitat is so characteristically Ellena, and it’s what separates his florals from compositions that simply present a note and ask you to admire it. The watercolour analogy running through the review feels exactly right for a perfumer who has always worked by subtraction rather than addition, and the fact that only three notes are listed while J finds clove-like spices, gardenia facets, tropical fruits, tea leaves, and enfleurage-like waxiness within them is the purest illustration of Ellena’s ability to make the invisible architecture do the expressive work. The image of jasmine captured from dawn to dusk, beginning crisp and green like biting into an apple, then deepening through heady indolic warmth until musks purr and wrap you in voluptuous silks as the moon rises, makes this sound less like a soliflore and more like a full day lived inside a single flower. Cheers from WI, USA

  • As I was reading the review, knowing that’s a master’s Ellena fragrance, the word “watercolor” popped into my head, and there it was, a few lines later.
I’m imagining Jasminade to be exactly like the bottle – a dreamy, luminous, silky green jasmine.

  • Summer is made for jasmine fragrances. The warmth and humidity in the air seem designed to bring out the many facets of the fragrance. The spice and indolic nature of the flower come alive in the heat while the cool green watery freshness are brought out by a cool evening breeze. • Once again, J has us all spellbound. I am a fan of Laboratorio Olfattivo and Jean-Claude Ellena. Out west, we are having an unusually hot and DRY year again. I know I could use this fragrance to draw me back into the “whole plant and garden experience,” as J says I need this adventure NOW—a small ferdant experience to lift my spirits. I am in the USA and grateful for the opportunity and for the generosity of Laboratorio Olfattivo.

  • A breezy, tropical jasmine sounds wonderful for this summer heat. I love how Jasminade reflects the white floral’s complexity, but feels light and airy in the opening, and then among vegetation and waxy stems as the dry down progresses: “It’s a beautiful moment to experience, as if Jean-Claude Ellena pulls our focus back from just the flower to the whole experience of the plant and lush garden in which it grows.” Beautiful.

Jean-Claude Ellena is one of my favourite perfumers who has such a unique hand writing, it’s crazy. Jasmin is quite a new discovery for my nose which I really love! It has so many facets and it allways reminds me of Italy and my time there. Just walking to the beach and smelling Jasmin in the streets, beautiful!

Jasmine has always been one of the most expressive flowers in perfumery, indolic and sensual, and so delicious. I love how this composition seems to explore its more transparent, radiant facets while still honoring the natural richness that makes jasmine so timeless. It’s a beautiful reminder of why jasmine remains such a cornerstone of fine fragrance.
I feel that Jean-Claude Ellena gardening experience has a lot to do with the creation of the Fioriture collection. I hope soon I have the privilege of enjoying the entire collection.

  • Gorgeous review – very evocative. This is a jasmine fragrance that sounds like it does justice to all aspects of the flower and its life. It sounds like the perfume that would get closest to the sensation of walking by a jasmine bush at night in summer. And JCE is the master of subtly and beauty as far as I’m concerned.
    What a beauty!

I’d love to try this fragrance. I’m in the USA.

To me, jasmine is better experienced as an ambient scent, rather than smelling the flower up close; and the jasmine in Jasminade, deftly handled by Jean-Claude Ellena sounds like it will be the same experience. When smelling jasmine in the air, I tend to better pick up the indole, the fruitiness, and the greenness of the flower. And J’s description of the perfume is giving me the impression that Jasminade aligns with what I look for in jasmine perfumes. I live in the US.

What captivated me most about this review is how Jasminade appears to celebrate the many facets of jasmine—fresh, luminous, sensual, and elegant all at once. Jean-Claude Ellena’s minimalist style makes me eager to discover how such a simple idea can feel so sophisticated. From USA.

  • what sparked my interest about the review is how j broke down jasmine so incredibly much that it was like a rediscovery of the fragrance note. i love how jean-claude wanted to create a ‘dusk to dawn’ wear of jasmine- all the supporting notes seem so meticulously chosen to, obviously, unveil a multi-faceted jasmine & those notes sound truly beautiful. i am sure this is so beautiful- as this specific perfumer is one i admire, as well… absolutely brilliant! thank you for the review! i am in colorado.

“What really sparks my interest in J’s review is the way Jasminade handles the transition from day to night. I love the imagery of a green, crisp apple opening that slowly evolves into warmer, waxy textures and subtle balsamic touches. It sounds like such a beautiful, full-picture exploration of the jasmine plant. I am entering from , NC, USA!”
