Jovoy Parfums Ha Long Bay Celebrates 2026 Giveaway

Ha Long Bay by Jovoy Parfums

Jovoy Parfums Ha Long Bay

Back in October, we reviewed Ha Long Bay, the latest perfume from Jovoy which presented a lush and nature identical mango note, captured by using MANE’s Jungle Essence© technology. In typical Jovoy fashion though, Ha Long Bay proves to be a lot deeper than the ‘fruity’ genre classification might suggest – it twists and subtly contorts into a buttery leather that’s dusted with recognizable elements of patchouli and cedarwood.

Francois Henin of Jovoy in Vietnam

Ha Long Bay is a way for me to go back to the original story that made me work in this industry in the first place,” Jovoy’s founder and creative director Francois Henin offered in a recent conversation (that I filmed and edited). “When I was in my 20s, I was in Vietnam and I had the chance to travel all around the country… making distillations of fruits, barks, leaves and so on. And when we were working on reshaping and revamping the brand I was looking for a perfume that would help us make the transition. And how better to do that but to go back to the original story?”

Jovoy Parfums Ha Long Bay, an olfactive tribute to Vietnam inspired by an early morning misty boat trip to the iconic, picture postcard Ha Long Bay where these rainforests covered mountain islands raise themselves out of the sea, seemingly at random to create an alien looking, proto-tropical landscape. Henin decided early on that he wanted to use a very particular ingredient to convey his experiences of Vietnam. A very specific mango that he swoons at the mere mention of. Licking his lips he assures me that it was very much in high demand.

“It’s quite expensive, even for Vietnamese, over there. It’s called Xoài Cát… sand mango from the province of Hoa Loc… But as you know, you can squeeze a mango or boil a mango for hours. You’ll never get any oil out of it. This is where Veronique (Nyberg) from MANE said we have a technique which is patented and owned by MANE called Jungle Essence©.

This proved to be the turning point he was waiting for. Off camera he tells me that it was the only way to get anywhere, properly close to the scent and taste of the sand mango he so desired. The meticulousness of the effort is evident all throughout Jovoy Parfums Ha Long Bay, from the mouthwatering juiciness that explodes first, all the way to the comely leather drydown. It’s vivid and dense, yet polished so believe him when he tells me it took the best part of three years to refine and approve.

It makes complete creative sense to offer something of a new olfactive direction for Jovoy Parfum at a time when the brand itself was shifting, being reshaped and refashioned.

It is a new direction for Jovoy Parfums,” he nods in agreement. “But it’s really in the tradition of what a Jovoy perfume should be.”

Notes: Vietnamese mango, cardamomblack pepperleather, cypriol, cedarwood, orcanox, amberwood, patchouli

  • This makes me want to take a trip to Vietnam. I’ve never heard of a sand mango before but sounds so interesting. My fav Jovoy perfume is Remember Me.

  • I have many favourite Jovoy fragrances such as Psychedelique, Private Label, Pavillon Rouge and Les Jeux sont Faits. I am eager to test this new release with a juicy nature identical mango note captured by using MANE’s Jungle Essence technology. I enjoyed reading about the story of Francois Henin in Vietnam.
I live in Bulgaria and Jovoy ships here, thanks God 🙂

  • I love the idea of Henin returning back to where his fragrance journey began and creating a special note that has eluded him for so long. Mango is such a hard note to make realistic and I’m ecstatic to try this fragrance one day hopefully soon! Ha Long Bay looks gorgeous too. My favorite Jovoy scent is either 21 Conduit St or Psychedelique! Hello from Brooklyn NY 🙂

  • Ooo this really made Ha Long Bay sound special! The way the mango was described feels super real and not just fruity but lush and textured, and I love that it dries down into leather and woods instead of staying sweet. The whole backstory about Vietnam and going back to the brand’s roots makes it even more interesting. Also a big fan of mango notes so this one is high on my list. Based in the EU.

  • Brad Woolslayer says:

I love a good tropical mango fragrance. This one sounds really interesting, with it’s inspiration from Ha Long Bay. I live in Maryland USA.

  • Laura Tuan (@soscentik_) says:

I’m especially intrigued by this specific mango he loved so much and the technique he used to extract its essence!! ☀️

  • What really sparked my interest in Oli’s review is the way he focuses on atmosphere and sensation rather than dissecting the formula. The story on how that particular typology of mango was used is absolutely incredible.
    Thank you!

  • What really draws me to Ha Long Bay is Francois Henin’s story of returning to Vietnam to recreate a deeply personal sensory memory. I visited Vietnam and Ha Long Bay in 2017, and Oli’s description of the misty boat rides through rainforest-covered limestone islands immediately brought me back. It’s such a lush, surreal place, and the idea of capturing it through a rare Xoài Cát mango using MANE’s Jungle Essence feels incredibly evocative rather than simply “fruity.”

I also love that the scent moves into leather, woods, and patchouli, which gives it the depth and texture I associate with Jovoy. That evolution is exactly what makes a fragrance feel like a true journey. I live in the United States, and my favorite Jovoy Parfum is Psychédélique.

  • Nicole Theodoropoulos says:

I’ve been dreaming about this perfume since it’s release! I love the description of the inspiration: “early morning misty boat trip to the iconic, picture postcard Ha Long Bay.”
I livs in the US and my favorite Jovoy is Fire at Will!

  • I hadn’t heard that story before about Jovoy’s beginning, so that was great to hear. The Vietnamese aspects captured in this perfume totally engage all may attention. I’m honestly not a huge mango fan in perfume, but the misty boat ride image really makes me want to try this. My favorite Jovoy scents so far are Rouge Assasin and Liturgie des Heures. I live in the USA.

  • I wish Francois every success in refreshing and redirecting his brand. It’s admirable that he was so focused on precisely what he wanted to achieve that it took him three years. This demonstrates his uncompromising commitment to quality and faithfulness to his artistic vision. It’s wonderful that he found inspiration for this new beginning by going back to the very beginning of his professional journey, to remembering where this fascination began. I am very curious about this new perfume – the beginning of a new journey.
    My favorite Jovoy is Psychedelique.
    I live in the EU

  • I haven’t tried anything from Jovoy yet but after reading this interview and essay I’m very curious about the scent of the Xoài Cát sand mango! I wonder how difficult it is to find this fruit where I am located in the USA?

  • Mr. Henin is a lucky man to have traveled so extensively around Vietnam in his 20’s. My husband and I have friends who live in Saigon that we’ve visited a couple of times and it’s such a taste (and smell) experience. Everything is so fresh and taste-bud stimulating. I have never heard of these special mangos, but to me the mango scent is uplifting, just as a really good rose is. I would love to win this perfume to remind me of my own sail on Ha Long Bay, taken when I was young and the whole world was ahead of me. (I’m feeling my age today). Thank you for the review and the chance to try a Jovoy perfume. I live in the USA.

  • I can’t wait to get my nose on the new MANE accord for mango. High hopes indeed. I love Psychedelique and want to have a full bottle someday soon. I am in the USA!

  • loved the mention & use of the mango that is hard to get- what an amazing idea to utilize it into your fragrance! & being able to create a perfume based on nostalgia is such a wonderful thing. this fragrance sounds beautiful & i loved reading & learning about it’s origins. beautiful fragrance & beautiful review, oli! i am in the united states.

  • Ha Long Bay for Francoise Henin, of Jovoy perfumes, represents the brands transition and growth. The use of the “jungle essence technology” which took three years to refine and create an authentic representation of the Vietnamese sand mango, is what elevates the scent and its olfactive experience. Though Ha Long Bay is a mango focused scent, it defies the fruity classification, going deeper with buttery leather, cedarwood and patchouli, reshaping its overall composition. It is masterfully done scent that lingers.
    USA

  • Based on the review my interest was sparked by learning of the sand mango which I had never heard of before this. I have no favorite from the house. US

  • this is amazing! I’m especially intrigued by the technique to get the mango notes in this perfume. I love fruity scents and would love to try this. My favorite perfume from Jovoy is Psychédélique. I’m in the USA.

  • Ramses Perez says:

Jovoy is one of the iconic houses of perfumery in my opinion. In a sea of mango fragrances, Jovoy decided to do the smart thing and create a mango accord to separate Ha Long Bay from all the other mango fragrances in existence. The inspiration of a Vietnamese mango and the landscapes are spot on and reflected in this fragrance. I think Jovoy is truly changing and heading in the right direction by taking more risks and creating fragrances unexpected for the line. I’m located in the USA.

  • Oli’s interview perfectly captures the soul of Jovoy: the dedication to story, place, and exceptional raw materials. Francois Henin’s journey, from making distillations in Vietnam to using cutting-edge Jungle Essence© technology for the elusive “sand mango,” is the kind of passion that defines great perfumery. As a longtime admirer, my favorite has always been Remember Me – its creamy, spicy chai wrapped in milk and cedar is a masterpiece of comfort. But Ha Long Bay sounds like its vibrant, tropical cousin – a juicy, leathery twist on the brand’s DNA that I must experience. I am in the EU.

  • Nuvare Aenra says:

What sparks my interest most is the promised transformation Oli describes: from an “exploding” mango juiciness into a “comely leather drydown.” That journey from lush fruit to polished leather, anchored by patchouli and cedar, sounds incredibly sophisticated. I fell in love with Jovoy through Rouge Assassin – its rose-iris-rice accord over a musky, vanillic base is sheer elegance. Ha Long Bay seems to offer a different kind of luxury: sun-drenched and tactile.

    EU.

  • AromaAdventurer says:

The meticulous three-year process to capture the true essence of the Xoài Cát mango speaks volumes about Jovoy’s integrity. Francois Henin’s desire to return to his “original story” – his olfactive roots in Vietnam – for the brand’s new direction is deeply moving. My personal favorite is Touche Finale; its soft, powdery mimosa and heliotrope embrace feels like a perfect, tender ending. Ha Long Bay promises a completely different, vivid beginning – a misty, tropical landscape in a bottle. EU, Germany.

  • One of my faves is La Liturgie des Heures. I liked the idea of using a very unique mango scent from Vietnam. Thanks for another wonderful article and draw. MI USA

  • A tropical landscape like no other. The mouthwatering mango, cardamom and leather. The very realistic nature of the mango is what draws me to this fragrance. I live in NY, USA. 21 conduit is my favorite from Jovoy.

  • The inspiration behind these fragrances is so fascinating. I love a juicy mango note in fragrance. The jungle essence technique used to extract what was needed out of that particular mango shows how particular he was about the scent. Not just any mango would work in Ha Long Bay. When an artist puts that much love in his art you know it will be something worth trying. This sounds like a very special fragrance for the perfumer because it’s where his passion started. I have no doubt this was developed to perfection justing hearing how he wanted that particular mango scent. I would love the opportunity to visit Vietnam. It looks like a beautiful country. I am in USA Pennsylvania

  • reyessence89 says:

I think discovering new scents and inventing new extraction technology are just as interesting as formulating perfumes. The Jungle Essence technology intrigued me enough to find out more about it. Now I’m wondering if other mango perfumes used this technology, and if not, how Jovoy’s Ha Long Bay compare.
I live in the US. My favorite is Musc Pallas.

  • When mango trend initially started I was so excited since I really love the smell and taste of mangos. Unfortunately, many of the fragrances I tried were too childish and were falling flat after the opening. I’m excited to see Jovoy has a mango scent, as I’m sure it will be more complex and really worth smelling. I particularly like it is paired with leader. I would love to try it. Cheers from Illinois, US.

  • What caught my attention in Oli’s interview with François Hénin is the emotional thread between geography, memory, and innovation. I love how Ha Long Bay isn’t just inspired by Vietnam, it’s a return to the origin story of both Hénin’s career and Jovoy’s evolution as a house. The use of MANE’s Jungle Essence® to capture the Xoài Cát note feels like a beautiful collision of nostalgia and technology; a way of bottling something that can’t otherwise exist in perfumery. That balance of lush fruit with buttery leather and wood makes it sound like a scent constantly shifting between warmth and coolness, past and present. It’s that interplay between place, memory, and material that really sparks my curiosity.

Though I have yet to experience Jovoy Paris’ creations firsthand, Psychedelique draws me in as a masterful patchouli masterpiece, a sophisticated niche scent promising the kind of rich, memorable complexity that truly stands out.

    – USA –

  • First off let’s talk about that bottle. Such a beautiful refinement of the original bottle. The only thing I kind of wish was, in the ad image having that beautiful real picture of Ha Long Bay looks so unique. It blends what is essentially perfumery. Natural and Human crafted art.

In any case it was a very nice short interview. For me Backstory has become an essential part of getting interested in a fragrance. With so many coming out each year. So many to pick from. They have to be more than just a note breakdown.

If the fragrance can transport me to Ha Long bay, a place I have never been, then the price of the bottle is worth it.

As for myself my favorite Jovoy is Incident Diplomatique. Such a great fragrance. Patchouli done right.

I live in the USA and in the state of PA.

  • The story of François Henin’s Vietnam travels and using Jungle Essence for that rare sand mango sparks my interest – it’s a personal, innovative tribute to his roots. I live in Poland, EU. My favorite Jovoy is Psychedelique. @j_photographyy1 on Instagram

  • Mango is my favorite fruit and of course I also like its smell. Sounds amazing that we get buttery leather notes, can’t wait to try this one, especially after reading “from the mouthwatering juiciness that explodes first, all the way to the comely leather drydown.”
I am a fan of the Jovoy house and have many favorites; among them are Psychedelique and Incident Diplomatique.
Big thanks for the draw, I am in EU.

  • wonderscent.mari says:

Based on the review, I find the Jungle Essence technology very interesting and innovating! This blend of memories and precious raw materials like the sand mango make me imagine this sensational trip to Vietnam! I also love the description of HLB that feels inherently fruity, so lush and juicy, while layers of smooth leather and amber complexity are grounding the whole composition. The interplay between a tropical fruitiness and a refined spicy woody backbone sounds very elegant in a non gourmand way. I am so curious to try it!
Love Jovoy, Fire at will, Psychedelique, Remember me and Musc Pallas are my favorites!
Thank you for the beautiful review and Jovoy as well for the giveaway.

  • What truly sparks my interest is François Henin’s approach of going back to his origins to move forward – there’s something beautifully circular about using his formative experiences in Vietnam to mark Jovoy’s transformation. The three-year development process and the use of MANE’s Jungle Essence© technology to capture that specific Xoài Cát mango shows real dedication to authenticity rather than just another tropical fruity scent. I’m particularly intrigued by how Oli describes the evolution from that explosive mango opening into buttery leather with patchouli and cedarwood – that journey from lush fruit to refined leather sounds like it captures both the vibrancy and depth of the Vietnamese landscape. It’s rare to find a fragrance that manages to be both vividly naturalistic and sophisticated.
I haven’t yet experienced Jovoy’s fragrances firsthand, but Psychédélique has been on my radar for its masterful patchouli work.

  • I love the concept of creating something new with the inspiration drawn from the past. It sounds like it captures the nostalgia and warmth of happy travel memories but very modern and on trend particularly with the mango note. (The technique used to create this sounds exciting!)
I’ve been loving tropical fragrances so I’m eager to get my nose on this
My favourite Jovoy fragrance has to be Pavillon Rouge, which is a beautiful boozy leather.. it gives me 1920s speakeasy vibes it’s wonderfully transportive and I hope to be transported somewhere else again with this Ha Long Bay release. I’m enjoying this new direction the brand is going in. Bravo, Francois Henin!

  • I’ve only tried Jovoy’s Fire at Will, but I absolutely loved it! I’ve heard a lot about Ha Long Bay, but I haven’t tried it before. Oli’s essay was fascinating, especially learning about the sand mango and Francois Henin’s time in Vietnam. Would love to try this one! USA

  • Like Francois Henin, I have been to Ha Long Bay and the experience has stayed with me ever since. I can perfectly picture the sculptural rocks rising from the bay to form a breath-taking view in every direction. I am keenly interested to try the Ha Long Bay perfume as I am intrigued by the combination of the unusual mango note and leather dry down. It sounds so unusual and glorious. My favorite Jovoy fragrance is Psychedelic. I live in the US.

  • As someone new to Jovoy Parfums, this interview was a captivating introduction. The concept alone is stunning: using advanced technology to bottle the memory of a specific Vietnamese mango from a formative trip. Oli’s description of Ha Long Bay as “vivid and dense, yet polished” and an “olfactive tribute” makes it sound like more than a perfume it’s a sensory memoir. I haven’t yet tried any Jovoy scents, but this story makes Ha Long Bay my absolute must-discover starting point.

  • What I liked most was how Ha Long Bay feels sunlit and joyful right from the start — that juicy mango note made me smile immediately because I adore mango — and then slowly softens into something warmer and more grounded. It feels like a day unfolding, not just a perfume.

There’s something harmonic about that contrast, the way brightness and depth can coexist. It made me want to smell it not to analyze it, but just to be with it for a while.

I’ve only smelled one Jovoy perfume before, Incident Diplomatique, so I suppose it’s my fav by default.

    I’m in the USA.

  • This sounds lovely. Really love Mango in fragrances. The Xoài Cát mango sounds like something different and it is interesting to learn how they extracted its essence. Also great Jovoy is trying something new and add a different kind of fragrance to its line. Would love to try this. Marit, the Netherlands

  • my favorite jovoy is probably fire at will. I am a fan of mango notes in fragrances and seeing this is a tribute to Vietnam and mango/forests along sea sides is amazing!

    USA

  • The premises for the creation of Ha Long Bay are not ordinary ones – a perfume special enough to infuse new life into the brand and a note that was achieved with such dedication – so I can only imagine how beautiful it is.
Thanks for the review & the giveaway, from EU.

  • This proved to be the turning point he was waiting for.

“It is a new direction for Jovoy Parfums,” he nods in agreement. “But it’s really in the tradition of what a Jovoy perfume should be.”

Notes: Vietnamese mango, cardamom, black pepper, leather, cypriol, cedarwood, orcanox, amberwood, patchouli. A beautiful description by Oli really intrigued by the notes of leather, patchouli black pepper and cardamom. I have tagged @cafleurebonofficial @jovoyparfums. My favourite is psychadelique no question about it. Thanks a million from the UK

A beautiful piece by Oli the notes of Vietnamese mango, cardamom, black pepper and patchouli really stand out for me. My favourite is Private Label just an absolute powerhouse. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • Fragrances that evoke a sense of place are always very interesting to me. There are certain scents that most people associate with particular geographic areas (forest, spices, tea, etc) but a perfumer also brings his or her own experiences and perspectives from a location to bear. Francois Henin and Veronique Nyberg have shown us their love for VietNam in olfactory form. Favorite Jovoy scent is Psychedelique. In USA

  • FragranceFrenzyS says:

The technical aspect truly sparks my curiosity. The fact that traditional extraction fails for this mango, necessitating MANE’s patented Jungle Essence© technology, highlights the innovation behind modern perfumery. Francois Henin’s clear obsession with authenticity—waiting years to get it right—is admirable. I have not yet explored the Jovoy lineup, but a brand built on such a foundation of passion and precision is one I want to know. Winning Ha Long Bay would be a phenomenal first encounter. EU

  • Oli’s piece beautifully frames Ha Long Bay as both a personal homecoming for Francois Henin and a strategic new chapter for the brand. That duality is fascinating. The imagery of “misty boat trips” and “alien-looking, proto-tropical landscapes” creates a powerful desire to smell this interpretation. While I haven’t had the pleasure of trying Jovoy’s creations yet, a fragrance born from such a clear, personal narrative and relentless pursuit of olfactive truth is exactly what draws me to niche perfumery. I am in the EU.

  • There is absolutely nothing as delicious as a fresh picked mango ripe from the tree!! I would love to try this species of it, there are so many mangoes all with subtle variations. This sounds magical. I’m happy to see cardamon and leather sounds like the perfect ending to a refreshing pop of flavor. Three years to perfect is no joke! Let’s have it!! I already follow you on IG and I’m located in the U.S.

  • ianbradleyandrews says:

Mango is the best fruit and I’m intrigued with it being in a perfume. I’d love to smell this. Sounds fun. I live in Indiana.

  • I love Mango and I enjoyed travelling when I was younger (would still love it if my health allowed it). Vietnam was none of my destinations but an “early morning misty boat trip to the iconic, picture postcard Ha Long Bay where these rainforests covered mountain islands raise themselves out of the sea, seemingly at random to create an alien looking, proto-tropical landscape.” sounds tempting.

It is interesting that there is a technique that is able to capture the aroma of a mango. I also like that there is an aromatic twist and the fragrance doesn’t stay exclusively fruity.

I only know Remember Me. I live in the EU.

  • a good tropical mango fragrance, my favorite Jovoy fragrance is Fire at Will. I’m especially intrigued by the technique to get the mango notes in this perfume. I live in EU

  • Ha Long Bay is a really cool take on fruity fragrances. Jungle Essence© sounds like a particularly good starting point for the mango, and then the leather accord ensures the “mouthwatering” opening doesn’t overstay its welcome and has some progression. The spices seem deftly applied as well.

I’m in the USA. I haven’t tried any Jove Parfums fragrances, but hope to try this one. Thanks!

  • RaePerfumeSoul says:

The mango note is hard to make so realistic yet wearable. That is hard trick to pull.
I think the story behind the making of it validates that where there is a will there is way.
Have not owned anything from Jovoy, so will be interested to enter.

    In Scotland, UK.

I’m immediately drawn to the Vietnamese mango note. I love fragrances that are unique and cause people to ask me “what are you wearing”. This seems like it would do that. I definitely want to know what the mango transitioning into a leather base with patchouli and cedarwood ends up smelling like on my skin. This is a fragrance I would love to try. I haven’t experienced a Joyoy Parfum yet but I’d be all over Cherry Proseco. I live in the United States.

  • I’ve always wanted to go to Vietnam, but in the meantime I’ll take this scent instead. This sounds just gorgeous, and sounds like a nice revisit to his origins. I’m in the us

  • What sparked my interest was the combination of ingredients.
Mango paired with buttery leathery notes sounds really good. Overall, the review focuses less on the perfume and more on its creation journey which combined with its exotic ingredients make me more curious about it!

Thanks for the vibrant and celebratory feature! Jovoy Parfums Ha Long Bay feels like a vivid tropical escape captured in fragrance — the rare Vietnamese sand mango opens with juicy, sun-kissed brightness that dances with cardamom and black pepper to keep the sweetness lively, not cloying. As it settles, warm leather and cedarwood add a refined backbone, while amber wood and patchouli in the base give a lingering, elegant warmth that feels both bold and wearable. I especially loved how the fruity opening evolves into a deeper, richer trail that mirrors the contrast between brilliant sunshine and shady groves — a scent that feels radiant yet grounded. I’d love to try Ha Long Bay!
