In Astra was founded in 2020 Fabiola Bardelli, creative director, and her sister perfumer Sofia Bardelli, together they capture the timeless allure of the stars in perfume. Each wear is like a new night experiencing the stars above us. As the compositions develop, they conjure diverse emotions, from the initial brightness of the star to the soft light that reaches us millions of miles away.

Bright sparks of pink pepper flicker from tropical creamy florals like fireworks in a summer’s night sky as In Astra Antares opens. You feel its cool heat radiate around you with excitement as the pink pepper sizzles with a spicy fruity sweetness flickering with green tones as the spices pop. Perfumer Sofia Bardelli uses pink pepper in Antares in a stunning way as it adds  lightness to the heavier denser florals and amber notes that are blooming below. It also foreshadows the sleek silky flower petals emphasising the creamy milk aspects of Antares while giving a counterpoint of  spice to the much more sensual blossoms. The tuberose has teeth in the mouth of this purring sexy beast.

The blossoms of tuberose and frangipani unfurl enveloping you in a carnal sensuality that feels wild as the pink pepper purrs. Its spiced bite and nails sink into the silky petals and never let go giving Antares a subtle animalic wildness. Almost like eyes glinting and never letting your gaze go. Tuberose turns things heady, pulling the spiced warmth into its petals turning the silkiness into a crushed velvet. Imagine that gentle texture slowly and lightly being drawn across your naked skin. Tuberose’s own subtle spices tease out more of the green facets with rich balsamic winking at the amber base you start to feel glowing below. Before that Antares gives us more frangipani floral fun. A gentle waxiness takes that crushed velvet feels and smears it into a body warmed soft silk. It pushes the tropical aroma out more with tuberose feeling like that sensation of sunned skin in the evening. The florals narcotic facets are tamed by the creaminess of sandalwood but they’re close to the edge feeling like palpable sexual tension is in the air. Pink pepper won’t let us forget it as it lightly bites your shoulder as you inhale the delicious florals deeper.

As Antares final dry down approaches, those spices sink into the petals, giving their sensual purr to the amber base. Antares shaper edges soften becoming creamy with sandalwood planed into smooth shavings. You can feel them support the sensual plump petals of the tuberose and frangipani as their silky waxiness coats the woods and ambers like bed sheets. Antares has a lovely subtle sweetness that runs through it, the florals whisper of tropical creaminess and as amber and sandalwood join in, more balsamic richness is added gently licked by benzoin and vanilla. It’s the tuberose and frangipani that are brightest stars for me in Sofia Bardelli’s beautiful Antares creation. They shine in the night sky and the pink pepper feel like smaller stars sparkling in the far-off distance. Antares isn’t your typical white floral, the spices and amber woods work as a stunning counter point to the soft sensuality of the flowers, almost as if it’s the scent of two lovers embracing.

Antares is a powerful perfume. It’s transparent yet dense making its feel like your sinking into its beauty letting the otherworldly scent envelop you. One to get your nose on if you’re looking for a  white floral perfume with an edge.

    I really enjoyed J’s review. The way Antares is portrayed as both transparent and dense immediately caught my attention.     Beautiful review! What sparks my interest is the soft & bright spark of pink pepper that wakes the senses following by a lush tuberose combined by the tropical aroma of frangipani, settled in a creamy sensual glow of sandalwood. Sounds a fascinating and very special white floral. Love this particular description “Antares isn’t your typical white floral, the spices and amber woods work as a stunning counter point to the soft sensuality of the flowers, almost as if it’s the scent of two lovers embracing.”

    What a gorgeous name, flacon and description.
    The word “tuberose” got me, and “frangipani” made me stay. Antares sounds like the perfect “trap” for a white floral lover, with its luscious, tropical, carnal core, elevated by sandalwood, softened by amber and sprinkled with pink pepper for a pinch of lightness and joy.
    I found J´s following phrase particularly inspiring: ” As the compositions develop, they conjure diverse emotions, from the initial brightness of the star to the soft light that reaches us millions of miles away”. Makes me wanna experience more of In Astra´s creations!

    If Antares is one of the brightest stars in the sky, with various mythological and cultural connotations, the Bardelli sisters couldn’t help but offer us a powerful yet transparent perfume: Bright and sizzling sparks of pink pepper give way to tropical and heavier creamy florals and a warm balsamic woody amber drydown.     I love pink pepper as an opening note in perfumes, specially when accompanied with sandalwood. I think these are my two favorite notes because of the initial sparkle of the pink pepper and the mysterious ending and calming effect of the sandalwood. Also, I love the beautiful blue bottle with the majestic gold cap, i find it very attractive.

    I love tuberose and always excited to try something centered around it. I am more curious about Antares seeing that it also has frangipani which is a note I’m not that familiar with. Thanks for this wonderful draw!

    Antares review is lush, evocative, and one can clearly tell J is deeply in love with it. He almost made me feel Antares through it – the cosmic framing works well thematically with In Astra’s story, and the repeated return to texture -silk, crushed velvet, waxy petals, warm skin – makes me think about Antares as being tactile and intimate, but with a strong sense of structure from opening to dry-down.
    Not your typical white floral, which I think it sounds absolutely great. Aaaand dreamy.

    Peppery florals are a comforting wear, but I usually don’t associate them with white florals or velvety textures. The way the tuberose and frangipani segue into creamy sandalwood sounds lovely, reinforcing the feel of silky and waxy pedals. Lovely.

The way the notes move from daytime brightness to the soft glow of evening suggests a perfume that evolves beautifully over the course of a day.     Nice to come across this brand again. I tried Betelgeuse back in 2020 and thought it was great.
    J really evokes a sensual sexy perfume here and I like a white floral with an edge. I’m quite into vintage white florals, but something more modern and edgy that smells different from the plentiful designer white florals sounds like a winner. Marit EU
