    First of all, shout out to San Antonio – home of great perfumers like Daniel Gallagher and Zoey Lake! I really enjoyed the video review and look forward to see if this will be my holy grail amber. Love the idea of a peppery incense! Also refreshing to hear Stephen admit that he had never smelled a particular accord isolated so he wouldn’t necessarily recognize it in composition. Good on him for being honest and honoring his journey in this way. I’m in Texas!

    I am a fan of spice in fragrances and in cooking. I actually found one which when I wear it causes people to sniff the air till they find me. That shocked me but after the third time I believed it. Sadly it is discontinued but I am always searching for an earthy spice fragrance. I can’t wait to smell this and the others I somehow had missed.

    Oh I forgot to mention I am in the middle of nowhere, high desert Southern California, 90 miles northeast of Los Angeles on my ranch of bucolic bliss. We get 4 seasons and snow in the winter. I feel the Force here.

    I loved the review, the philosophy, and the YouTube channel as well.

    For Daniel, the structural element of spice in perfumery is explored in his perfumes and how they interact with other ingredients, to create a unique creation that highlights the balance and harmony of the individual components. For Steve, Resinwood has a mysterious, spicy nature that complements the Frankincense, and an amber note that truly shines in the composition; along with a balsamic element, earthiness of oakmoss, sandalwood and rich warm notes. Resinwood is a cozy gem that shines in the colder months and a bold but not overwhelming choice for warmer months.

    Gallagher is a house I have gotten to know here in CafleureBon and everything they have put out so far really seems to be high quality and very artistic, I don’t recall them having any fragrances that goes in this spicy and resinous direction so this is something that was missing from the collection. I agree with the perfumer in that spices are tricky notes to work with because you have to have the right amount in order for everything to fall into place. Just like in cooking, too much or too little of something can mess up an entire recipe. Steven thinks it his is more on the daring side and I’d have to agree on account of the Timur pepper and the frankicense so proceed with caution. Bottom line, this is something to try and see if you like it/skin agrees with it. I’m located in the USA.

    I love how Daniel Gallagher spend years to find the perfect balance of spices in fragrances. I liked how Steven mentioned how this fragrance is cozy, warm, and slightly mysterious. I live in Maryland USA.

    What a generous giveaway! Resinwood is a lovely fragrance, and I absolutely adored their Lavender & Bourbon, which I think was released around the same time. Always good (and very original) stuff coming out of that house.

    Steven’s review made Resinwood sound incredibly inviting and very “Gallagher” in the best way: bold, resinous, and unapologetically ambery, with that peppery incense twist really standing out as the star of the show. The way he framed Resinwood as a potential holy grail amber for those who enjoy strong, long lasting, base heavy fragrances made it easy to picture how it would actually wear, especially in cold weather. I also appreciated that he called out the linear nature of the scent in a positive way, “what you see is what you get”, which is so helpful for amber and resin lovers who want that steady, enveloping aura from top to drydown.

    Thanks for the opportunity. I would love to be the lucky winner. The simple statement of “…highlight the art of spice in perfumery” gets my attention. I love spices and resins. I recently came across a sample of Rosé All Daé and it was my first from Gallagher. Also a winner.

    I can’t believe how long I’ve wanted to try this house! It’s ridiculous. But the way Steve describes the woods, resins, spices really has me wanting this to be my first try! I love a good spice and frankincense fragrance. I also love black hemlock. This sounds perfect. I am in the U.S.

    Resinwoods sounds right up my alley. Unique, bold, and unapologetic somewhat like myself. It has a fairly simplistic note breakdown but plenty of character in it. The dark ambery facets sound interesting and I like how Steven said that Gallaghers offerings are unusually strong and noticeable. It sets itself apart from other niche with the unconventional makeup but everything synchronized perfectly to create a one of a kind blend. Would love to own, from USA.

    I love the idea of spicing up wood. Pepper with wood and incense to create something that is daring! I like it very much. Daniel’s fascination with using spices in perfumery shows in the composition. I like Steven’s take on the final product.

    I love the way Steven uses the word balsamic to describe the fragrance. Without even smelling it I feel as though I know what it smells like. As well as his honest take on the black hemlock. And I TRULY appreciate how Daniel mentioned he needed discipline and restraint when working with spice since it is a direct parallel to applying certain fragrances. You need discipline and restraint. Get content.

    I’m fascinated by Daniel Gallagher’s vision of using spice as a structural element in a fragrance instead of just a supporting note. I remember reading about Purple Powder in a previous CaFleureBon post and now Steven introduces us to Resinwood. I love the blend of pink and timur peppers and the bergamot seems like it would add some brightness. Steven mentions the balsamic nature of the scent and lauds it as a great overall amber fragrance.     “Unlike cooking, where intuition can guide the hand, working with spice in fragrance requires discipline and restraint.” Correct me of I’m wrong but I think this means in other words my man goes wild with reckless abandon on the seasonings when it comes to cooking! A man of my own heart if so. Except for salt. Too much salt isn’t nice. Steven said Gallagher fragrances tend to be bold and potent and that’s definitely my type. I’m in the USA.

    I like Daniel’s creativity in fragrances. He mentions he likes to work with spices, which I’m a fan of. Steven mentioned an earthy amber accord in Resinwood. I do enjoy oakmoss in fragrances. Thanks for the opportunity to sniff. MI USA

    Many of Daniel’s fragrances tend towards strong fruit notes, leaning gourmand, so I’m always intrigued when he focuses on other notes (like in Behold Patchouli). Interesting that he views Purple Powder, Cadence, Crimson Veil, and Resinwood as a series highlighting spice with “discipline and restraint”; these are even more intriguing when approached as studies. And Resinwood’s note breakdown suits my preferences. Steven noted the note list is “honest” too: “If you’re a fan of ambery, balsamic, rich, warm, cozy, strong fragrances, this is going to be the perfume for you.” The “verdant undercurrent” of earthy frankincense, oakmoss, and hemlock is an elegant counterpoint to the “holy grail” amber. Can’t wait to try this—haven’t checked in on Gallagher Fragrances in a while.

    I enjoyed the way Steven described how the spicy notes–especially the pepper–work with the frankincense and sandalwood. Steven noted that the fragrance is ambery and balsamic with some verdant touches. Resinwood has tenacity and is good for colder months. Daniel also mentioned woking with spices and finding harmony with other notes. Steven briefly mentioned Amongst Waves by Gallagher Fragrances. I was just thinking about buying a marine fragrance.

    I purchased all their discovery sets last spring and feel in love with Skydive. It’s the perfect white t-shirt and jeans sort of midwestern summer day. I’m also found of resins with Amouage being one of my favourite houses. I’m curious as to how Mr. Gallagher defines “the art of spice in perfumery” in this release. I’m in the US.

    I’m a huge fan of spice…in cooking, fragrance, you name it. I’m really intrigued what went into the process of this creation by Mr. Gallagher; the hundreds, perhaps thousands of iterations calibrating the interplay between ingredients. Steven’s deep dive into how the pepper accentuates the resins, amber, and moss in a darker direction is what piqued my interest the most.
