As I dove into the aromatic depths of I AM, an eloquent floral/woody perfume, I was first greeted by the invigorating top notes of Mandarin, Freesia, and Pink Pepper. It opens with a burst of brightness breaking through the uncertainty—a reminder that joy and vitality can illuminate even the darkest places. The zesty Mandarin encapsulates the freshness of a new beginning. At the same time, while the delicate Freesia adds floral sophistication, and Pink Pepper introduces a hint of spicy energy, evoking the fiery passion that resides within.

The heart notes shift the fragrance as they meld effortlessly with the top notes, revealing Magnolia, Orange Blossom, and Peony. The floral soul of I AM captures the beauty of openness and strength intertwined. Magnolia speaks to the inner grace that guides, Orange Blossom to the sweetness of self-love, and Peony to the courage to bloom uniquely. Together, they create a congenial balance that encourages me to embrace my versatile identity—gentle yet powerful, soft yet resilient.

The strength that anchors me in my truth resides in the base notes. Cedarwood’s sense of stability and confidence reminds me that I am rooted in my identity. The warmth of Benzoin adds a touch of full-bodied sweetness, revealing the richness of your experience. This is now the third time reading about Eveilleur and each new scent has its own identity. It’s truly a very unique brand with an equally unique value proposition which is the discovery of Croatian culture. Each fragrance takes inspiration from the charming country and we get bits and pieces of its beauty with each release. I Am depicts the beauty of the dichotomy day/night showcases in Croatia. I’m located in the US.

  • You had me at Croatian fragrance house. One of my most memorable holidays was sailing between the Dalmation islands. I’m amused by the name I Am, as a gay Jewish man.

I am what I am, I am my own special creation
So come take a look, Give me the hook, Or the ovation
It’s my world, That I want to have a little pride, My world
And it’s not a place I have to hide in, Life’s not worth a dam
Till I can say, I am what I am. – another gay Jew Harvey Fierstein.

I AM sounds like confidence and presence in a bottle. What really interests me are the bright, floral and woody notes which are so beautiful for spring. The journey of top middle and base notes also was very intriguing. First you have the brightness of mandarin and freesia. Next is the power openness and courage of the florals. Finally Cedarwood that represents strength truth and stability. The fragrance represents how i would like to feel bright beautiful and brave. The inspiration for I Am really reaches me. I want to feel good like I am enough. I want to think of this article every time I spray this perfume that I embody what this perfume represents. The bottle is elegant and classy as well. I am intrigued Pennsylvania USA

  • Sandi- you captured I AM so accurately.
I think that all 3 of the Éveilleur Parfums must somehow reflect the strength, imagination and beauty of Dajana Jukic, Éveilleur’s founder. They are all confident yet earnest, seemingly delicate yet with surprising strength.

I didn’t expect to be moved so deeply just by a fragrance review, but here we are. The way Sandi described how I AM isn’t just a perfume but a manifesto of self-worth… that hit me right in the soul. I’ve been trying to reconnect with who I am after a rough year, and this sounds like it might actually support that in a symbolic, sensual way. Mandarin and magnolia…My two favorite notes in one bottle

The way the perfume evolves from brightness to grounded depth, almost like a journey from morning light to inner reflection, is beautifully poetic. Natalie Lorson is such a master, and I love that she’s paired her talent with a brand rooted in Dalmatia such an unexpected combo. The dragonfly cap, the intention behind every note, the empowering message… I didn’t know I needed this, but I do. I AM sounds like soul care in a bottle.

What really got me was the description of the musks — not as just a skin scent, but as “an invisible power that radiates from within.” That phrase alone made me pause. It’s wild how scent can tap into something spiritual, and this sounds like one of those rare perfumes that doesn’t just smell good — it means something.

  • This perfume sounds like it’s made for those quiet, rebellious moments when you decide you’re enough. The kind of scent you wear when you’re going through change and want to claim your space. I’ve been looking for something floral but complex, delicate but with backbone. Freesia and pink pepper leading into benzoin and cedarwood? Yes please.

A powdery indolic floral fragrance just the way I like it. I want it! I am from EU

  • Well I know I can trust Natalie Lorson with a masterful blend! What I’m most excited about is the use of cedar as the balance to the florals. First off I just love cedar, but secondly I adore it juxtaposed to an array of crisp sweet florals and thirdly I am getting tired of the ubiquitous faux amber dry down. So this sounds perfect for me. I am located in the U.S.

Sandi, your reviews consistently possess a beautiful depth, and this one for ‘I Am Natalie Lorson’ is no exception. You’ve truly brought its ‘radiant spirit’ to life with your evocative prose, making me feel as if I’ve already had a glimpse into its luminous character. The concept of a fragrance that celebrates the inner light and personal narrative is something truly special in perfumery. It sounds like a wonderfully uplifting and personal scent. I’d be absolutely delighted to experience it. Thank you for this insightful journey and the giveaway.

Peonies are in season here and it’s been wonderful to take walks around my neighborhood and smell them live. Peonies have such a wonderful scent, and paired with freesia and mandarin? Addicting, I’m sure. Im happy to discover that Éveilleur is the first fine perfume house from Croatia. The brand’s introduction on Indigo Perfumery’s site makes it clear how much pride the brand takes in its home country and inspiration. As always, I appreciate cafleurebon for the writeup– thanks to you, I’ve discovered DSCVR ME and found yet another eucalyptus forward fragrance! (Always on the hunt for eucalyptus, my best friend loves the smell and its an uncommonly used note)

    Thanks from the usa

I’m very interested in this house/fragrance as I visited Croatia last summer. I would love to try this one. I’m based in Dallas, Texas. Thanks!

  • Nice review, Sandi. If all fragrances somehow serve to reaffirm our inner self, this new creation by the brilliant Mme. Lorson is already one, right from its bold and declarative name, I AM. From Croatia, Eveilleur founder Dajana Jukić brings this country and its beauty to life with the help of master perfumers: this time, an eloquent floral/woody scent. A beautiful opening with mandarin, freesia, and pink pepper gives way to a floral soul with three great notes: magnolia, orange blossom, and peony. And it ends with a sensual and tactile woody, balmy, musky bed (cedar, benzoin, and musk). I live in Spain, EU.

  • milleroots1223 says:

What sparks my interest? Well, my girlfriend read the review over my shoulder, and the entire scent is right up her alley! She’s a floral queen when it comes to scents, so I figured I’d take a shot at winning this for her. Apparently she’s a sucker for peony, who knew? Safe to say that Sandi’s review turned at least one extra head!

Best of luck to everyone – from Ontario, Canada.

  • What truly resonated with me in Sandi’s review is how I AM isn’t just a scent, but a declaration — a reminder to embrace strength, softness, and self-worth all at once. The idea of magnolia and orange blossom expressing grace and self-love, layered over grounding cedarwood and warm benzoin, sounds like a beautifully composed reflection of inner power. I love fragrances that carry emotional depth, and I AM feels like it would become a part of one’s story, not just a scent on skin. I live in France and would be honored to experience this radiant expression of self.

  • Sherin Thomas says:

Lovely composition. Cedarwood that represents strength truth and stability. The fragrance represents how i would like to feel bright beautiful and brave. The inspiration for I Am really reaches me. I want to feel good like I am enough. From PA,USA

  • I AM by Éveilleur Parfums feels like more than a perfume—it’s an emotional statement. I’m drawn to its message of self-worth and inner strength. There’s something incredibly empowering about a scent that encourages you to embrace who you are. I’m really curious to experience how this philosophy translates into its notes and composition.

  • Shibuichi2000 says:

I loved “burst of brightness breaking through the uncertainty” – I think all perfumes are, to some extent, helping us to get through highs and lows.
I AM is a brave affirmation of ourselves and the notes used to create it support that affirmation – a floral like no other, a statement more than a scent
    I’m in EU

  • I find the idea of portraying a radiant and vital, while also grounded and resilient, essence through the interplay of the fragrance’s notes to be intriguing. I am in USA.

  • The empowering message of I AM, blending vibrant mandarin and freesia with grounding cedarwood and benzoin, resonates deeply, promising a scent that’s both uplifting and anchoring, like a personal affirmation in a bottle. I live in Poland, EU.

  • This was such a beautiful and moving review. What really stood out to me was how personally you connected with the fragrance. I loved the way you described each note not just in terms of scent, but as a reflection of strength, grace, and self-love. It made the perfume feel like more than just something you wear. The idea of I AM being both grounding and empowering really resonated with me, and now I’m even more curious to try it for myself. It sounds like something that doesn’t just smell good but makes you feel good too.

Wow, the description of ‘I Am Natalie Lorson’ is absolutely captivating! That blend of frankincense, rose de mai, and orris sounds incredibly sophisticated and full of character – truly a ‘radiant spirit’ in a bottle. I love fragrances that tell a story, and this one seems to have a beautiful narrative. Thank you for the wonderful review, Sari, and for the exciting giveaway.

  • It’s nice to see the message of self-love along with this perfume. Sometimes it does get a bit tiring to see all of the beauty and fragrance marketing trying to convince you to be a certain way, if you only buy their product. I have been looking for a nice magnolia perfume, and like its comparison here to “inner grace”. USA

Ok, this one I have to own and enjoy. I rock a very personal tattoo that states simply, “I am.” A tattoo that I frequently write underneath of a follow-up word to inspire me. It’s located on my wrist so that I see it every hour of every day. This perfume seems deeply personal and I am excited to read this review. I can’t imagine anything better than to spray this perfume directly on my wrist with those words “I am” inscribed. I live in Oregon.

  • I’m interested in peony fragrances currently having grown up with these flowers. Woody florals are a category I find myself exploring more. I know almost nothing about Croatia and would like to experience fragrances from all across the globe. I’m in the USA
