Electimuss’s latest release from the Consort series, Reverie Haze takes us back to Rome with a different view of the garden frescos of Villa Livia from its counterpart Vesper Reverie. This is why I love art, we each can take different readings and inspirations from the same works, as they open us up to seeing the world in new ways. Perfumer Marc Daniel Heimgartner explores the frescos of Rome’s Villa Livia, a space filled with fruits and flowers.

Green leaves wind their way up the old stones, with tropical fruity aromas blossoming amongst a bouquet of florals. It’s as if the time-worn walls of Rome’s revered Villa Livia have come alive. The way perfumer Marc Daniel Heimgartner composed Reverie Haze makes it feel dreamy, like you’re smelling the faded flora and fauna imagery, but with the colours turned up giving a hazy feel to this perfumed dream.. Fresh citruses give a soft rose a little zing as more of the tropical fruit notes shine like morning sun. Reverie Haze has a lingering coolness thought whispers of resins with a dank darkness of cypriol add weight and depth to the flowers and fruits blooming in this fantasy garden. The rose slowly morphs into a more tuberose like feel, waxy greens whisper of balsamic spices, with a smooth sensual white florals fleshiness as if your nose is caressing its silky petals. Reverie Haze hums with sensuality as the tuberose blossoms wrap you around your skin, the brighter notes fade out leaving you with an intimate moment enjoying this elegant flower.

Ginger lily starts to warm tuberose petals and teases out little spiced desires. They shimmer in a gentle saffron cloud adding to the flora radiance. Earthy aromas seep out from beneath the flowers showing us where they grow, patchouli pulls us back to earth, letting its rich tones add bass to the melody of white florals that now feel more abstract. Almost magnolia-like with subtle aromatics from the ginger lily, making the tuberose feel like a dreamy, ethereal silk that’s unfurling over you. The ginger heat is getting woody and the slightly fuzzy wooliness as cashmeran and cistus brings a gentle musky aspect into the composition. It’s giving the texture of Villa Livia’s old crumbling walls and the coolness of night rolling in after the brighter opening. Reverie Haze’s texture changes here too, it’s more suede -like with a lustrous layer over it.

Subtle oud aromas hint that darkness is coming, old woods and earthiness peek through beneath the suede musks, haunted by white florals that glimmer against the darker notes. Reverie Haze balances things out with clever sweeter elements, but leans more floral and woody, vanilla adds a creaminess taking over from the florals textures and shaves the sharper edges from the amber, and earthy oud aromas. A hazy berry fruitiness glows like hanging lights in the night bringing back Reverie Haze’s warmth. You feel this rush from the fruits warming the sensual floral musks bringing out more shimmers of amber as its embers smolder, giving a touch of smokiness to the musk. Here is where the oud becomes more prominent; it’s a clean oud not feeling overtly animalic, adding a deep aged feel to the composition. Yet there’s still a freshness that plays at its edges glide over you. Reverie Haze plays with light and dark contrasts that swirl around you; as it pulls you closer those rich oud woods feeling intoxicating. Perfumer Marc Daniel Heimgartner’s take on Villa Livia is beautiful; Reverie Haze pulls you into a dreamscape as if stepping through the walls of an olfactive mural.
